Regina closed the door after she stepped inside the house. She took a deep breath before setting her face into a small smile and walked into the living room.

A loud pop was heard above her head.

She was startled as the glittering foil and colorful paper rained down on her head.

"Congratulations on your new job!" Sir Henry said with a proud smile.

A surprise on her face, seeing them all, popping up behind the couch. She gave them a small smile.

"Here is a gift from us, darling, it'll be useful at your new office," Cora said while handing her a small box. She took the box and thanked her.

"I guarantee, your colleague would befriend you fast," Henry said.

"Mommy, I got something for you too!" A little voice said with excitement and shyness as he saw his mother was home.

Regina eye's turned soft immediately as she looked at her little boy. She opened her arms wide and the little boy of 5 years old ran straight into her arm. She almost went backward with an 'oomf' as she took the weight of him.

She hugged him tightly to her chest and kissed his hair then asked him.

"What is it, baby?"

"Gram?" Lil Henry looked up at his grandparents and palmed upward. Cora placed the paper crown in his little hand. He put it on her head as she lowered her head down. It was almost in her face as he rushed to let go and ran to his grams.

She smiled softly at them and her face shifted as she was to deliver the news.

"Guys…I-uh," Regina rubbed her hands together nervously and continued. "Thanks for the gifts but…I didn't work there anymore."

They all gasped so she delivered the bomb as well.

"I got fired."

"Fired?!" Cora yelled in confusion. "On your first day? How could that be possible?!"

Regina gulped and looked down, not wanting to explain to them what happened to her. She just went upstairs to her room instead.

She put her crown and a Stanley cup on the bed as she opened Cora's gift. She sat beside them and stared into the wall.

Not a minute later she heard little stomping feet reach her door and,

"Mom!"

She turned to see him and welcomed him into her arms once again as he hugged her waist while she sat on the bed.

"Yes, darling?"

He looked up at her and said.

"Don't be sad? You are a super!" She smiled and her heart was full of his love. She rubbed his back and leaned her cheek against his head.

"Thanks, baby. I'm not sad."

"Why did you get fired? You did something bad?"

Regina was lost in thought again and stared into the wall as he asked her.

"Maybe I was. I was wrong to her and she is still mad at me. So she won't let me work with her." She said with a faraway voice.

"Why is she angry at you, mom?" His voice muffled against her body.

She hugged him closer and just sighed. She knew the reason but she couldn't stay away from the blonde if she tried.

What she did was unforgivable in Emma's eyes. She didn't know if she could survive not having the blonde in her life again. She needed to know Emma was alright even from watching afar. It made her feel a slight bit better to be beside the blonde, it lessened her guilt in a way. Getting fired was better, Emma could lessen her anger on her.

A Nike sneaker stomped on the tile of the treadmill. The blonde was running fast and hard with every steps she took.

Her heart beat faster and she was sweating from head to toes.

She didn't know what came over her and made her think back to the accident again.

She thought back to that exact moment where her friend gave her a piece of paper with Regina's hand writing on it.

Act like we have never know each other before from now on,

Regina Mills

She read it, tears burned her eyes and not realising what's going on around her after that.

That was the first time she exprerienced what heart broken felt like. It felt like someone pluged her heart out and crushed it, leaving her body dried and empty.

She hadn't noticed the car that was coming toward herand it was too late, her body contacted agasint the car window and rolled down the concrete with a thud.

Tears slipped down her eyes as she felt numb all over her entire body including her heart.

Emma hit the dial on the running machine and sped up her pace as she felt hurt and anger at the same time.

Regina left her to marry off one of her father's friend, she found out when she lied hurting on the hospital bed as her friend told her the news.

Emma hit the stop button as her pace slowed down and came to a stop. She stood there panting, sweat running down her forehead. She wiped it off with the towel that hung around her neck.

She needed to do something to take her mind off of Regina. Ever since Regina came back into her life she couldn'tconcentrate on anything else.

On her way into the living room, Emma threw the towel on the table and accidentally hit the remote, causing it to fall on the floor, it shattered on the floor and the batteries were rolling out.

"Miss Mills? You married, right?"

"Yes, I did after my husband passed away, I decided to go back to my father's surname."

A voice from the large screen had Emma stopped on her tracks and turned around to the sound.

Regina was in her shirt and skirt appeared on her big screen. The eyes were so intense she could get lost if she looked too close.

"You did not go to college?"

"Yes, I dropped out of college and married my husband right away then moved overseas with him. While I was there I registered in extracurricular on secretary and business management like I attached in the resume."

Emma panicked more when Regina still talking. She looked aroud the floor trying to find the damn batteries.

"It's state here that you used to be Rupert Gold's secretary in the national bank and your last name is of Gold, Can you elaborate on that?"

"I'm his wife."

Regina's deep voice rang around her room, leaving her panicked as her hand finally grabbed the batteries and was about to put it in the remote.

She turned her head up and looked at the screen, seeing shining bright brown eyes on it. She was interested now at the topic about the said husband.

"You must be rich enough not to work for the rest of your life?"

"I did not get anything from him. And my son's inheritance is still in the process."

"If your son gets to inherit the share. Will you retire, then?"

Emma walked closer to the screen, staring into those brown eyes.

"It's my son's money not mine. I still have to work to raise myself and my parents. And about resigning myself, it's up to your boss to do with me as she wants."

That made her eyes twitched. A new idea went to her head that instant.

It's up to your boss to do with me as she wants to—

Whatever reason the brunette tried to crawl back into her life, Regina had to pay for what she did to her.

Emma smirked and picked up her phone, dialing Snow.

That night after she tucked him to bed and kissed him good night. She was back on her bed, a scattering of pictures were across the bed.

She picked one up. It was one of the picture she saved it in her special box.

A blonde beside her is smiling up at her, her bright green eyes were shining with happiness. She traced it softly with her fore finger and she smiled as the tears was in her throat at the bittersweet memory of them.

Emma was her first love and she'd cherish this for the rest of her life.

A phone rang and her bed shook slightly at the sound, startling her out of the reverie. She picked it up while frowning at how late it was.

"Yes, Snow?"

"Sorry for a sudden call in the night, Regina."

"It's okay. What is it?"

"Um, can you come to work tomorrow I know it's sudden but— "

"Tomorrow? You said?" She couldn't believe her ears as the news surprised her.

"Yes! Emma just called me and said that you need to come to the office at 7 a.m. sharp."

"Seven in the morning?" Regina frowned at how early, too early for the regular office to be exact.

"Yeah, it's an urgent matter, so can you make it?" A desperation was heard in the sentence.

Regina was still trying to take the news to her system and stuttered "Oh, I- "She cleared her throat and continued "I'll see you in the morning, then."

"Oh thank you! You just saved my life! I'm so happy for you about the job, Regina! See you."

"Thank you, bye."

Regina slowly put her phone down and her frown faded away. Hope filled her heart again at the expectation of seeing Emma as her new boss.

Regina straightened her blazer and grabbed her bag on her shoulder as the clock struck thirty minutes to seven. She walked into her son bedroom and tiptoed to the sleeping figure on the bed.

She pressed a quick kiss on his forehead, inhaling that unique scent of the toddler, and smiled at how dead he was to the world.

"I have to go to work now." She whisperedagainst his head.

Henry stirred slightly and sleepily fluttered his eyes and looked at her in half-eyelid.

"Be a good boy to grams for me?"

"Kay, mom" He yawned and went back to sleep.

She stood up, rushing out the door. And to her old black Mercedes car that was from her father. It's a miracle that the car was still working.

She quickly stepped in the driver seat put on the seatbelt, started the car, and was about to hit the speed pedal when Cora yelled behind.

"Regina! Wait!"

Regina poked her head out of the window as she rolled it down.

"Here's your breakfast in the car." Cora stood across from her with a tupperware of warm food in it. She took it and placed it on the passenger seat.

"Thanks Mom!"

"Good luck, Regina, and don't get in trouble with your new boss again."

Cora eyed her and she chuckled

"I have to go now."

"Oh, of course! Drive safe!"

Was all she heard as she drove out of the house.

To her bad luck this morning, her old car decided to stop working and she had to park it sideways before it shut down.

Her phone rang and she picked it up immediately.

"Hi, Gideon."

"I'm on my way to your house."

The sound of a wind went through the phone as the other person on the line was on a bike.

Regina almost forgot that she agreed to meet with Henry's older brother. Her husband had three kids with the first wife and Henry with the second wife.

She was there to take care of him and Henry from the beginning since he was still months old as his mother was dead after the birth.

"I'm so sorry! I forgot to tell you that I'm on my way to work."

Regina winced and hit the wheel in frustration as if the car would work again. She sighed.

"Are you okay, Regina?"

"Oh! My car broken down in the middle of the road."

"Where are you now?"

She told him where she was and stepped out of the car, opened the car hood and rubbed her head as a headache was coming on. She waited for him impatiently as the time was running out on her.

And if Emma was still the same like she knew her, the blonde would be piss that she's late.

To her relief a sound of an engine was behind her and a person rode a bike came to stop beside the car.

She smiled as Gideon took off his helmet and walked closer to her.

"So you're in trouble." He teased her with a small grin.

"Right now, no. But if the car still doesn't cooperate and I arrive late, it's over for me."

Her face shrinked at the thought of meeting the angry blonde.

"The boss might have been so strict to have your concern like this." He chuckled and walked to her car hood, poking his head inside and investigated.

"I don't want any problem to follow. Can you help?" Regina said timidly and tried to look over his shoulders.

"Trouble on the first day, I think it's bad luck for you now. It's better that you quit."

"Why are you saying that?" Regina pouted and continued "At least wish me luck would be better. I don't know how Henry ends up having such a cruel brother as you."

"I was joking! Are you accusing me?"

When he stood back up again she smiled at him and said with a chuckle.

"I was joking too. So how's the car?"

"I found the problem, you can restart it again."

He leaned down and reached his hand inside the motor with a grunt or two.

Regina rushed inside the car and started the engine again and it worked. She was so happy and flashed her white teeth at him as she poked her head out of the window.

"It works! Thank you so much! Oh you have an interview this afternoon, right?"

He nodded with a grin. She smiled back.

"Good luck."

"It's almost seven now, Miss Mills."

Regina widened her eyes as she panicked when he pointed to his watch.

"Oh shoot! I have to go bye! And thanks again."

She closed the window and hit on the speed pedal. Hoping she would get there in time.

Emma stood in front of the company as the car was taken to park by the staff.

"Good Morning, Emma." Snow greeted.

She turned to face Snow, pulled up her sleeve, and looked at the watch.

"Has your assistance arrived yet?" She asked

Snow avoided her eyes and tried to look ahead for a sight of the brunette. To her luck again the sight of a running brunette on her heels was not far ahead.

"There she is!"

Emma turned to face forward at Snow's pointing finger. She saw Regina run toward them with a bag on her shoulder and one in hand while the other carried an iPad in hand.

Regina looked up and stopped short in her walk as she reached them, panting slightly. Emma's lips were hardened into a line line.

Fingers pulled up her sleeve again as the blonde looked down at her watch and glared back at Regina like she was trying to make a point at how late she was.

Emma turned to face Snow and said

"Please tell your new secretary that when I said seven sharp, she has to come earlier than the meeting time. That's our company rule." Emma turned to look back at Regina and the brunette shifted her eyes downward, not wanting to cause any more problems.

"Okay." Snow said

She stared until Regina looked back up at her again. Then gave a tiniest smirk and tilted her head to speak to Snow.

"Tell her to meet me in my room asap."

Then the blonde turned around and walked inside the building. Snow turned to look at Emma's strict behavior in confused.

Regina didn't say anything when she wasn't spoken to and took a step toward Snow.

"You heard all that right?" Snow winced

Regina put on her polite smile and answered

"Yes."

"Let's go, shall we?"

She was led into the building andsettled at her office's desk. Ready for the next step.
