Dust 'til Dawn (Night)
"Do you know how hard it is to find a decent Dust shop open at this hour?" a man in a bowler hat asked an elderly shopkeep. One of his men aimed a weapon at the old man.
"Please, just take my Lien and leave." the man whimpered.
"No, no. We don't want your money. Grab the Dust." the man ordered his goons. "Crystals, Burn, Uncut." he requested from the shopkeep.
A henchman moves to get more Dust, but stops when he sees a girl in a red hood. But that's not the focus of this story.
The focus is the boy that walked up to Roman. He wore a white and blue striped shirt and black pants, as well as cyan shoes. His hair was black ending in blue tips, and his eyes were piercing silver, resting behind a pair of glasses. "Uh, excuse me. You're kinda blocking the line." the boy said, irritated.
Roman just gives him a sideways glance before responding. "Oh, I'm sorry. But I think you'll need to wait your turn for a while." he taunted. The boy's eyes started glowing a faint blue before a goon was thrown through the window by the hooded girl, now wielding a gigantic scythe. She was soon joined by the boy, who brought out his weapon as well; a double-sided scythe made of blue ice.
The girl looks at Roman as she unfolds her weapon into its full size. "Well, get them!" Roman yelled to the goons.
The henchmen run out of the shop and at Red and Blue. Red spins her scythe around and kicks one of the men who approached her. Blue stabbed his weapon into the ground, causing shards of ice to jut from the street and stab the henchmen in the legs. Not a lethal attack, but it isn't going to be a painless way to recovery. Red fired her gun again, using the momentum to kick a goon with the full force of a meteor.
"You were worth every cent. Truly, you were." Roman said sarcastically. "Well Red, Blue, I think we can all say It's been an eventful evening. And as much as I would love to stick around, I'm afraid this is where we part ways." Roman aimed his weapon at the children and fired. When the smoke cleared, Roman was already climbing a fire escape to flee.
"Can we go after him?" Red asked the shopkeep. He simply nodded, allowing the two to finish the job.
Red and Blue climbed the ladder, meeting Roman on the roof. "Persistent." he mutters. Red and Blue ready their weapons, but are caught off guard by a bullhead that rose up from behind Roman. "End of the line, kids!" Roman said from the bullhead as he threw a Dust crystal at the kids before firing at it.
Cockily laughing, Roman failed to notice the dome of ice that kept Red and Blue safe from the attack. The ice disappeared, allowing Red to fire a Dust round at Roman, just barely missing.
"CAN I GET SOME HELP HERE!?" Roman asked the pilot as he switched places with her. The pilot's face was obscured by darkness, but it was undoubtedly a female.
Blue spun his weapon around, causing a storm cloud to appear above them. Specifically, a hailstorm. The ice got stuck in the rotors of the ship, hindering its ability to stay airborne.
Red shifted her weapon into a rifle and shot Dust rounds at the pilot, who blocked each shot with flames that gave off a sinister aura. Eyes flaring a bright blue, Blue shot a blast of cyan energy at the woman, only for the hatch to close before anything could happen.
"Dammit." Blue said under his breath. He turned around to see Red fangirling over a huntress with a scowl on her face. 'Uh oh.' Blue thought to himself.
Vale Jail (Night)
"I hope you two understand the consequences of what you've done." the huntress scolds.
"But they started it!" Red pleads.
"If it were up to me, I'd send you home with a pat on the back... And a slap on the wrist." Glynda said as she whacked her weapon into the table. "But, there is someone who wants to meet you." The door opened to reveal a man with gray hair, black eyebrows, and a plate of cookies.
"Ruby and Sapphire Rose." the man greeted. "Tell me, where did you learn to do this?" the man asked as Glynda pulled up a video clip of the fight.
"Signal Academy." Ruby answered as she stuffed a bunch of cookies in her mouth.
"They taught you two to use one of the most dangerous weapons in history?" the man asked.
"One teacher in particular." Ruby said, inhaling more cookies.
"It's just, there's only one scythe wielder I've ever met with that kind of skill." the man said, prompting Ruby to spout a bunch of gibberish.
"She said that's our Uncle Qrow." Sapphire said, getting a look from the man. "When you spend as much time with her as I have, you pick up a few things."
"So, why would two kids like you want to join a school for warriors?" the man asked.
"Ain't it obvious? Ruby wants to be a huntress, and I want to be a huntsman." Sapphire explained with a slight tone.
"You want to slay monsters?" the man questioned.
"Yeah! We only have two more years at Signal left, then it's off to Beacon!" Ruby said, enthusiasm clear in her voice.
"Our older brother and sister are starting there this year. They won't shut up about it." Sapphire explained, saying the last part under his breath.
"Do you two know who I am?" the man asked.
"You're Professor Ozpin, the headmaster of Beacon Academy." Ruby answered.
"Hello." Ozpin said.
"Nice to meet you." Ruby responded.
"Would you like to join my academy?"
"More than anything."
Beacon Airship (Day)
"I can't believe my baby sister and brother are coming with me to Beacon! This is the best day of my life!" Ruby's older sister Yang said while hugging the life out of her.
"Really sis, it was nothing." Ruby says to the blonde.
"What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone's going to think you two are the bee's knees!" Yang said.
"I don't think bees have knees." Sapphire said, getting a glare from Yang.
"You know what I mean. You're special, Ruby." Yang said.
"Hey, where's Russo?" Ruby asked. Yang simply pointed her thumb over her shoulder.
Sitting on one of the seats was a blonde teenager with unkempt hair wearing a red hoodie and white undershirt. He had blue jeans that were torn a bit at the knee and red sneakers.
