Kanto Gets Loud
Chapter 85: The Battling Eevee Family!
Ok guys, want to say something before getting into this chapter. First, in light of the poll on what Lincoln should evolve his Eevee into, the majority vote was for him to keep Eevee as is for the time being. So that's what I'm going to do. However, I will post another poll during the next story in Alola, where the option of keeping Eevee the way it is will NOT be an option.
So, with that said, onto this chapter!
Lincoln and friends were pedaling through a quiet forest as they inched ever closer to Stone Town, sight of the next Pokemon Contest, as well as home to someone who can help Lincoln master Mega Evolution, "Once we get through this forest, we should be able to see Stone Town before too long," Brock said.
"Great! First thing we should do is track down that person Professor Oak told me about. The one that can help me out with mastering Mega Evolution. After all, I'd rather Lapis and the others not collapse from exhaustion after every time they win a battle for me," Lincoln replied.
"And then you can enter that Pokemon Contest to try and earn your second ribbon! Any idea on who you're going with?" Misty asked.
"I'm thinking Kingler for the Appeals Stage, and Lucario for the Battle Round," Lincoln replied, surprising his red headed companion.
"Kingler? Really?" Misty asked.
"Don't be so quick to judge, Misty. Kingler's massive claw could prove to be a real powerhouse when it's in use," Brock replied.
"Precisely my point. I was thinking I could show off how strong Kingler's claw is by smashing up some cinderblocks or cutting through a steel beam," Lincoln replied.
"But you've never used Kingler before," Misty pointed out.
"Well, we can still try to make some time for some last-minute training after the party. There should be a Pokemon Center in Stone Town, right Brock?" Lincoln asked.
"Yeah, that's right! You can warp over to the Battle Chateau and train up Kingler and some of the other Pokemon you have in the reserves," Brock replied.
"Also, a plus. It's been a while since the likes of Buzzerker, Gengar, and Milotic have seen any action. It'll be good to battle with them again," Lincoln replied. As Pikachu sat peacefully in the bike's basket, his ears perked up, as if hearing something.
"Hey Lincoln, pull over, would you?" Pikachu requested. Lincoln looked surprised, but did so anyway, causing Brock and Misty to pull over as well.
"Something wrong, Pikachu?" Lincoln asked.
"Yeah, I think I heard something… Through the trees!" Pikachu then bolted off into the thick foliage.
"Hey, Pikachu! Hold up!" Lincoln exclaimed, as he and his friends folded up their bikes, before chasing after Pikachu.
"What's gotten into Pikachu?" Misty asked.
"Don't know! All he said was that he heard something," Lincoln replied.
"Right over there!" Pikachu said, pointing to a nearby tree. They all saw, at the base of the tree, inside a makeshift cave, was an Eevee, tied up to a post with a food and water bowl nearby.
"Hello? Can you help me?" the Eevee asked, sounding unhappy.
"What's an Eevee doing tied up like this?" Misty questioned, as she went to go undo the ropes holding Eevee in place.
"Please don't think ill of my trainer. He left me here for the good of both of us," Eevee whimpered.
"What do you mean by that, Eevee?" Pikachu asked.
"See, my trainer is the youngest of four brothers, and each of them has one of my evolved forms as their partners. Both me and my trainer were feeling way too pressured by them wanting him to evolve me, so he brought me out here and tied me up so he wouldn't feel pressured during that big party his brothers were planning for today. As much as I appreciate him not wanting me to change just to win battles, it's terribly lonely out here, and I miss my trainer," Eevee explained.
"So, what's the deal, Lincoln?" Brock asked.
"Eevee's saying that its trainer's older brothers are planning some big party, and they're trying to push him to evolve his Eevee. That's why he left his Eevee here," Lincoln replied. Misty then saw the collar around Eevee's neck. She checked the tag.
"Hmm, 'Stone Town 3-14'. Looks like we were lucky when we found it when we did. We can return Eevee to its trainer and get some answers from them," Misty stated.
"If you do, could you all try to reason with my trainer's brothers, and tell them that my trainer doesn't want to evolve me?" Eevee requested.
"Sure thing, Eevee! My trainer's great at convincing," Pikachu replied, as they went to return to the road.
"You know, you're lucky that you've got an Eevee of your own, Lincoln. You have your choice of eight different evolutions Eevee can turn into," Misty commented, as she placed Eevee into her bike basket, and they all started pedaling off.
"Knowing you, if you had an Eevee of your own, you'd probably evolve it into a Vaporeon," Lincoln mused.
"Guilty as charged," Misty replied.
"But there is something else to take into account with what Misty just said, Lincoln," Brock pointed out.
"What's that then?" Lincoln asked.
"With eight different choices comes eight different possible battling styles you'll have to learn to adapt to," Brock replied. Lincoln knew that Brock had a point there. From their time at Bill's lighthouse, he knew that each different evolution of Eevee had their own unique battling style and move sets.
"Well, for now, I'll keep my Eevee as an Eevee," Lincoln replied.
"And there's nothing wrong with that," Brock replied, as they entered Stone Town.
"Huh, so this is Stone Town… quite the spacious place they've got here," Lincoln commented. And he wasn't wrong. Most of the houses were spread out quite a bit, leaving room for lots of open fields. And for a valley town, it was nice and quiet too.
"That's my trainer's manor over there!" Eevee said.
"Wait, 'manor'?" Lincoln parroted, as the three of them saw a large mansion at the end of the main street, "Whoa, this place is huge!"
"And it is the address on that tag on Eevee's collar. Third block, number fourteen," Brock replied, seeing the sign out front.
"Well, better head on in and return this Eevee," Lincoln said, as they got off their bikes and put them in their bags, before passing through the gates. Upon entering, they were met with the sight of some kind of fancy garden party.
"Well, this certainly is some kind of party!" Brock commented.
"I wonder if its open to anyone? I would like to show Moxxie and Millie how Pokemon Evolution works, since they showed some interest in it," Lincoln pondered.
"Hey, look over there!" Misty said, pointing over to where a woman was using a Water Stone on her Poliwhirl to evolve it into a Poliwrath.
"Congratulations, your Poliwhirl has evolved into a Poliwrath!" a blonde young man wearing a white tank top and yellow pants said to the woman.
"Oh, why thank you kindly!" the woman said, embracing her newly evolved Poliwrath. It was then that the young man noticed the trio, carrying Eevee.
"Eevee!" he exclaimed, catching the attention of seven other trainers. Two of them were also young men who had either red or blue hair with matching pants, two others were young women who had either lavender or black hair and wore either a purple kimono with red jewels on it or a black kimono with yellow rings. One of them, a young teen boy, wore what could be considered a green ranger's outfit and had bright green hair to match, while the other, a girl, wore a light blue parka and had light blue hair. The last one was a young woman with a dress adorned with ribbons.
"We've wondered where you got to!" the red-haired man said.
"You had us all so worried," the blue haired man added.
"Thank you so much for finding Eevee for us," the purple kimono clad girl said, taking Eevee from Misty.
"This is great, now that we have our star, we can get on with the show!" the green haired guy said. This statement confused the three friends.
"Hmm? Eevee's a star?" Misty questioned.
"Then why was it tied up?" Lincoln wondered.
"Hey, Mikey! Eevee has returned to us!" the yellow haired man called out. Just then, a small boy wearing a green shirt and blue shorts and messy brown hair walked out. He looked rather unhappy.
"Oh, h-hello, Eevee," the boy said timidly. Lincoln's keen eye could tell this boy was troubled, even as Eevee ran up to him.
"Mikey, you need to be careful with your Eevee," the woman in the ribbon clad dress said.
"You could end up losing your qualification as a trainer if you just go around losing it!" the red-haired man said.
"Did Eevee really escape? But it was tied to a tree?" Misty asked gingerly. Mikey's response was not something the three of them were expecting.
"Why'd you have to bring it back now of all times?" the three trainers were taken aback by the boy's question, but could tell he was definitely troubled.
"Oh, that reminds me! We have some guests from the Monster Realm coming over!" the blue haired man said, clapping his hands together.
"Wait, you guys are hosting Monsters?" Lincoln asked.
"Not as a host family. See, we were approached by some high ranking government officials, and they asked us if we'd be willing to allow some students from some super high class private school in the Monster Realm a chance to come and view one of the many hidden wonders of the Human Realm," the yellow haired man replied.
"Huh, I wonder if that could be the school Charlie and them go to?" Lincoln pondered.
"Oh, how rude of us, and after you went through so much to bring Eevee back home! We never introduced ourselves! The name's Sparky, Jolteon's my partner, and these are my brothers and our cousins," the yellow haired man said.
"I'm Rainer, I have a Vaporeon as my Pokemon," the blue haired man said.
"They call me Pyro! I have a Flareon for a partner!" the red haired man said.
"I am Marisol, user of Espeon," the girl in the lavender kimono said.
"And I am Mizuki, partner to Umbreon," the girl in the black kimono said.
"I'm Vert, and Leafeon and I make quite the team!" the guy in the ranger outfit said.
"Yuki, and I train with Glaceon," the girl in the parka said quietly.
"And lastly, I am Faye, trainer of Sylveon," the woman in the ribbon dress said.
"Nice to meet all of you. My name's Lincoln Loud," Lincoln said.
"I'm Misty."
"Brock's my name, and I must say, that you ladies are true visions of beauty!" Brock said, getting down on one knee before Faye, Yuki, Marisol, and Mizuki, "True that you each train one evolution of Eevee, but why not try your hand at training another Pokemon alongside me?"
"The only person around here how needs training is you!" Misty said, pulling Brock back by his ear. Lincoln and the Eevee family could only chuckle quietly.
"I hope it's not an issue with us being here. This does look like a private party," Lincoln commented, looking around.
"Not at all. This party is open to trainers who have Pokemon that evolve by using items, such as evolution stones. But we also have other items as well," Sparky replied, pointing to a nearby table.
"And that includes trade evolutions as well!" Pyro added, pointing to a trade machine.
"Hey there!" they all looked over to see a group from Cerise Labs, led by Bobby, which consisted of Clyde, Zach, Girl Jordan, and Stella, "We heard what you just said. You have room for five more?" Bobby asked.
"By all means! The more the merrier!" Rainer replied, just as a portal opened up, allowing a grumpy looking cat monster that looked more cat than the human-like ones Lincoln saw in the Monster Realm to step through, along with Blitz, Moxxie and Millie, each who had buttons on their outfits marked "chaperone."
"Ugh, is this that party thing we were told about?" he asked in a manner like he was trying to be civil.
"Yes, that's right. Welcome to the Human Realm," Rainer greeted.
"Alright then," the cat monster said, turning to the portal, "Alright you maggots! You can come through, one at a time!" he called out. As soon as he did, several teen monsters began to walk through, including some familiar faces.
"Charlie? Verosika? And all the rest?! This is some reunion!" Lincoln exclaimed, greeting his fiancés.
"Hey Lincoln! We definitely weren't expecting to see you here today!" Charlie greeted back.
"Charlie," the cat monster said in a warning tone.
"Oh, right," Charlie said, getting back in line.
"Alright, remember why we're all here! We're here to examine the more remote cultures of the Human Realm! Try not to make too big a mess for our hosts!" the cat monster said in a drill sergeant tone.
"YES SIR, MR. HUSKER!" Charlie and the other students responded like soldiers in boot camp.
"Alright, disperse!" Husker said, as he went to go find a seat somewhere. Lincoln and friends were seen conversing with his fiancés and Verosika's posse.
"Lucky thing you were passing through here when you did, otherwise we would've missed you guys!" Millie commented.
"I'll say. So, is your school like, doing field trips to the Human Realm or something?" Lincoln asked.
"Sort of. The Headmaster of the School wants to give those of us who didn't sign up for the Cultural Exchange Program to still give us a chance to see what the Human Realm is like, if only for a short while," Vaggie replied.
"It took some doing on Daddy's part, but he and the Human Realm leaders finally did reach this sort of agreement," Charlie added.
"Well, that's good of them to do," Lincoln commented.
"You bet it is! So, what's the deal with this party?" Blitz asked.
"Take a look for yourself," Brock said, motioning over to a trainer who was using a Leaf Stone on what appeared to be a bell-shaped plant with a leaf on either side of it, causing it to evolve into an almost man-sized, bell-shaped plant with a leaf covering its mouth, and an aggressive look in its eyes.
"Whoa! Is this some kind of Evolution Party for Pokemon?" Miu asked.
"That's right. Stone Town, as well as Evolution Mountain over there, is famous for having the largest collection of evolution stones than anywhere else in the world," Brock replied.
"When you say 'evolution stones', what does that mean exactly?" Kat asked. Lincoln then rummaged through his bag, pulling out the Thunder Stone he received from Vermillion City.
"It means stones like this one that can induce evolution in certain Pokemon. For example, this one's a Thunder Stone. Using this will allow Pokemon like Pikachu or Eevee to evolve into a Raichu or a Jolteon, respectively," he explained.
"Oh! So, are you planning on using it on your little mousey?" Apple asked.
"Nah, Pikachu wants to get stronger as it is. I've just been hanging onto this Thunder Stone in case I encounter another Pokemon that evolves with it," Lincoln replied.
"Well, to each their own," Loona commented.
"Y'know, it's kind of a waste for you to have a Thunder Stone and not use it to turn your Pikachu into a Raichu," Sparky commented.
"Even so, I want to respect Pikachu's wishes. Besides, things have been going well for us so far," Lincoln replied.
"Well, your loss, bucko. But do you have any other Pokemon that can evolve with an item?" Pyro asked.
"Well, I have my Poliwhirl, but I decided a while back that I want to evolve it with a King's Rock," Lincoln replied.
"I've been wanting to evolve my Slowpoke into a Slowking with a King's Rock as well!" Clyde added.
"Ah, then we have just the device for you both to use!" Sparky said, escorting the two boys over to the Trade Machine, "This here's a Pokemon Trade Machine. It allows trainers to exchange Pokemon with one another. And in some cases, it even triggers evolution."
"Hmm, sounds good! Ready to go, Lincoln?" Clyde asked.
"Just give me one second," Lincoln said, accessing his Pokemon Box Link, swapping Raphael out for Mesmer, "Alright, now I'm ready!"
"Alright. Just place your Pokeballs into each tray, then pull the lever," Sparky instructed. Both boys did as they were told, and placed both Pokeballs into each tray.
"Ok, here we go!" Lincoln said, as he and Clyde both pulled the lever. Electricity shot down onto their Pokeballs before sucking them up. The screen then showed both Slowpoke and Mesmer heading to the other trainer. Both Pokeballs then dropped down into each tray.
"Well, that was easier than I thought," Clyde said, as he and Lincoln let out their newly traded Pokemon. Upon materializing, the King's Rock both of them were holding merged into their bodies, as they began to evolve. Mesmer took on a more frog like shape, while Slowpoke stood up on its hind legs, and what appeared to be a crown formed on top of its head. The light died off, revealing Mesmer as a now green frog Pokemon with a yellow belly, hands and feet, while Slowpoke looked to have some kind of shell shaped crown, and a red and white frilled collar around its neck.
"Slowpoke and Slowking / Poliwhirl and Politoed have been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter and Clyde's Pokedexes stated.
"Ooh, they look so much different!" Stella commented, as she and the boys scanned their newly evolved Pokemon.
"Slowking, the Royal Pokemon, a Water and Psychic Type first discovered in the Johto Region. While Slowking can solve any problem presented to it, no one can understand a thing it says. It is said that Slowpoke's latent intelligence was drawn out when Shellder's poison seeped into its brain.
Politoed, the Frog Pokemon, a Water Type first discovered in the Johto Region. The cry of a male is louder than a female. Male Politoed with deep, menacing voices find more popularity with the opposite gender," all three Pokedexes explained. Mesmer started clapping in a happy manner, while Charlie took a closer look at Slowking's crown.
"Oh, it looks like it had eyes on it!" she commented.
"Makes sense. That crown is actually a Shellder that changed shape to help Slowking and Slowpoke's other evolved form, Slowbro, evolve," Mizuki explained.
"That's wild, because the Shellder we've seen look more like clams than anything else," Bobby commented.
"Well, the mysteries of Pokemon may not ALL be solved," Vert replied.
"Anyhow, if you guys have any other Pokemon that evolve with items, we've got plenty over there," Sparky said, pointing to a nearby table, which had a plethora of items on it.
"Lincoln, if you want, you and I could use some of the Metal Coats they've got over there to evolve my Onix and your Scyther," Brock said.
"Really, Brock? You're wanting to evolve your Onix?" Lincoln asked, sounding surprised that his breeder friend wants to power up his partner Pokemon.
"Well, if our last encounter with Team Rocket proved anything, its that we have to have as many powerhouses on hand as we can get. Plus, I think Onix has been yearning for a little evolution," Brock replied.
"Hmm, you do have a point. Those grunts we battled back in Celadon City were the toughest yet," Lincoln replied, as he once again accessed his Pokemon Box Link to swap out Goodra for Scyther. As soon as he did, he let it out of its Ultra Ball.
"Huh, what? Where am I?" Scyther questioned, sounding confused.
"Hey there, Scyther," Scyther turned to see Lincoln standing before him, then it dawned on the Mantis Pokemon.
"So, you managed to capture me, did you?" Scyther asked.
"That's right. I know it may have been a tad abrupt, but I'm hoping that you'll be willing to be a team player," Lincoln replied. Scyther took a moment to mull this over.
"Hmm, well, your unorthodox battling style was quite intriguing, and it does coincide with MY own style. Sure, I'll help you out!" Scyther replied.
"Hoo, doggy! Just look at this one!" Millie exclaimed, looking at Scyther.
"Yeah. This rogue Scyther was my most recent catch. Along with this little one," Lincoln replied, letting Eevee out of its Pokeball.
"SO CUTE!" Lincoln's fiancés and the girls in Verosika's posse exclaimed, upon seeing Eevee.
"Oh, you've got yourself an Eevee too?" Mikey asked.
"That's right. It hatched earlier today from an Egg I received here a few days ago," Lincoln replied.
"It's so fluffy!" Apple gushed, nuzzling Eevee's collar fur, causing the Evolution Pokemon to laugh wholeheartedly.
"So, seeing as how you've got an Eevee of your own, how do you plan to evolve it?" Sparky asked.
"That's right! Mikey, it's time for you to choose what you'll evolve your Eevee into as well!" Pyro exclaimed, causing Mikey to flinch slightly. It was then that each of Eevee's evolutions came out and parked themselves in front of each of their trainers. Needless to say, the Monster Realm Students were amazed.
"Whoa, are these all the possible forms of Eevee?" Gwendolyn asked.
"That's right. And each of us won our first Pokemon Battles after we evolved our Eevee!" Pyro replied.
"So, what do you plan to evolve your Eevee into, Mikey?" Rainer asked.
"Wait, so how exactly DID you all evolve your Eevee?" a werewolf girl asked.
"Quite easily. You see, each form of Eevee requires a different requirement to evolve," Rainer replied.
"Using a Thunder Stone will make Eevee evolve into a Jolteon! When Jolteon gets mad, it can fire off Pin Missile from the spikey fur on its body!" Sparky replied, as some target balloons were released, "Show them, Jolteon!" Jolteon then fired off needles from all over its body, popping the balloons.
"Whoa, that's some sharp shooting!" Blitz commented, clearly impressed.
"A Water Stone will turn it into a Vaporeon! Since its body's molecular structure is similar to water, it can use Acid Armor to melt into water to escape from enemies," Rainer explained, as his Vaporeon jumped into the nearby fountain, and appeared to melt into the water.
"That's so wicked!" an ogre boy commented.
"Raising Eevee with high friendship during the day will evolve it into an Espeon! By reading the air currents, Espeon can actually sense its opponents next moves," Marisol explained, handing a foam ball to Octavia, "Go ahead, toss this to Espeon."
"Uh, sure," Octavia replied, as she threw the ball towards Espeon, who had its back turned, only for it to leap out of the way, "Ok, that's kind of handy to know!"
"Much like with Espeon, high friendship during the night will turn Eevee into Umbreon. When Umbreon gets angry, it produces a poisonous sweat to spray in opponent's eyes," Mizuki explained.
"Exposing Eevee to either a special Moss-Covered Rock or by using a Leaf Stone will evolve it into a Leafeon! Since it photosynthesizes like a plant, Leafeon is always surrounded with crisp, clean air," Vert explained.
"Exposing Eevee to either a special Ice-Covered Rock or by using an Ice Stone will evolve it into a Glaceon. If in danger, it can freeze the furs on its body to make it stick out like needles," Yuki explained.
"If you have high enough Friendship with Eevee while it knows a Fairy Type Move, it'll evolve into a Sylveon. Sylveon can wrap its ribbon like feelers around its trainers arms as they walk together," Faye explained.
"Using a Fire Stone on Eevee will evolve it into a Flareon! With a flame sac inside of its body that can range from 1,700 to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit, there's no doubt that Flareon is the best Eevee evolution!" Pyro proclaimed proudly.
"What are you saying?! Jolteon is way stronger!" Sparky argued.
"As if! Glaceon is WAY stronger! I can stand up to Dragon Types with ease!" Yuki argued.
"Y'know Mikey, if you evolve your Eevee into a Sylveon, it'll gain an immunity to Dragon Types," Faye urged in a calmer manner than her cousins.
"But I know you'll make the right choice and have your Eevee evolve into a Vaporeon," Rainer said in an urging tone as well.
"And keep in mind, you'll never be in short supply of clean oxygen with a Leafeon," Vert added. Lincoln could tell instantly that Faye, Rainer, and Vert looked to be the most negotiable of the bunch, so he could try to convince them first. But as the party continued, an ominous group of three vehicles was approaching the quiet valley town, each branded with a familiar red R on their sides.
"Alright Grunts, remember why we're here! We have a quota of Evolution Stones to collect for Giovanni!" the lead Rocket grunt said on an intercom.
"YES SIR!" the other grunts responded.
"And as long as that flyspeck Stone Town doesn't do anything to interfere, we won't have to attack them… at least for now," the lead grunt stated.
"Funny you should mention that, sir," one of the scientist grunts said, looking at a tablet device.
"What is it?" the lead grunt asked, sounding annoyed.
"Take a look at what the scopes found," the scientist replied, showing the lead grunt the tablet. The screen showed the party at the estate.
"So the townsfolk are having some garden party, big whoop!"
"That's not the only thing," the scientist said, as he showed different images, showing Lincoln and friends, as well as the Monster Realm students in attendance to the party.
"Hey, isn't that the same brat that's been causing problems for our organization? And what are monsters doing here?" the lead grunt questioned.
"I do believe that is the very same American, but I do not know WHY the monsters are here. All I do know is that the brat can cause troubles for our operation if we alert him and his friends to our operation, or if we attempt to hijack all of those evolved Pokemon," the scientist replied.
"Hmm, that is a good point to raise there. All units, engage cloaking! We're going to be mining up the evolution stones in secret, as planned! We cannot allow those party goers to interfere with us," the lead grunt ordered.
"YES SIR!" the other grunts said, as the vehicles turned invisible, inching ever closer to Evolution Mountain.
Back down at the party,
Lincoln and Brock tossed up their Pokeballs, releasing Onix and Scyther respectively, each holding a silver-colored canister of some sort. As soon as they materialized, the Metal Coats melded into their bodies, and they began to evolved. Onix's head spike retracted into its head, which became more trapezoidal in shape, and spikes began to grow out of every other boulder on its body. Scyther's legs became slenderer, and its wings appeared to have shrunk. Its head became more rounded, and its claws reshaped themselves into what could easily be considered pincers of some kind. When the light from both of them died off, Onix was now a more grayish color, while Scyther was now red, and both of them had metallic looking bodies. Though in Scyther's new form, it still had the scar over its eye, "Onix and Steelix have been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter explained.
"Ooh, it got even bigger!" Milt said in awe of Steelix.
"Steelix, the Iron Snake Pokemon, a Steel and Ground Type first discovered in the Johto Region. Tempered underground under high heat and pressure, its body is harder than any known metal. It chews its way through boulders with its sturdy jaws. Its eyes can see in the darkness underground. Upon evolving, Steelix has learned the Move, Crunch," Dexter explained.
"This is way awesome!" Lincoln commented.
"It sure is, but now, shall we trade back?" Brock suggested.
"That's right! I also want to get Slowking back if it's not too much of an issue, Lincoln," Clyde asked.
"You could trade back right away, but why not take a look and see how well each of your new Pokemon does in battle?" Pyro suggested.
"Hmm? Y'know, he may have a point. This would be a prime opportunity for the three of us to see how our new Pokemon fairs in battle," Lincoln commented.
"It would be interesting to see how well Slowking battles now that it's evolved," Clyde commented.
"And I'm curious to see how Steelix has changed in terms of battling style," Brock added.
"The same goes for me with Mesmer and… Hang on a sec," Lincoln said, as he scanned the newly evolved Pokemon that used to be his Scyther.
"Scizor, the Pincer Pokemon, a Bug and Steel Type first discovered in the Johto Region. It has a steel hard body. It intimidates foes by upraising its eye patterned pincers, which account for a third of this Pokemon's body weight. A single strike from one can smash a boulder completely," Dexter explained. Out of curiosity from what Dexter had just said, Vaggie and Kiki went over to lift up Scizor's two pincers.
"Oof, these definitely have some heft to them," Vaggie commented.
"I'll say. Lincoln, does that device of yours tell how much this one weighs on average?" Kiki asked. Lincoln took a closer look at his Pokedex.
"It says here that a Scizor's average weight is 118 kilograms, or 260.1 pounds," Lincoln explained.
"Well, when Scizor evolved, it did become enclosed inside of a metal exoskeleton," Marisol pointed out.
"Yeah, that does make some sense," Kiki commented.
"Oh, metal is heavy. That's why we minotaurs like to help out with mining and smelting down any iron ore we find in the mines, since it helps us keep fit," Milt commented.
"Well, in any case, you three head over to the battlefield, and get started. We're going to hang around here for a bit and get some more information for school," Charlie suggested.
"Alright then. Shall we then, you guys?" Lincoln asked Brock and Clyde.
"Sounds good," Clyde replied.
"Alright. And how about we just make the battles sparring matches? After all, we just want to see how well the Pokemon have adapted to their new forms. No need for a serious battle," Brock suggested.
"That sounds perfect," Lincoln replied, as the battle being waged on the battlefield already had come to an end, as an Electivire just took down an equally large Pokemon that had flame patterns all over its body and cannon-like arms.
"And that's it! Magmortar is unable to battle! Electivire wins the battle!" the trainer refereeing the battle announced, as both trainers recalled their Pokemon.
"Sweet! Electivire's a lot stronger now since evolving from your Electabuzz!"
"Yeah, well, I'm going to have some fun training up Magmortar."
"Guess those two traded for the other's Pokemon," Clyde commented.
"Well, in any case, lets get this battle started," Lincoln said, as he went to one side of the battlefield, leaving Clyde and Brock to head to the other.
"To make things interesting, why don't we make this a double battle?" Brock suggested.
"Sounds good," Clyde replied.
"Fine by me," Lincoln added, tossing out both Pokeballs, releasing Steelix and Slowking. Brock and Clyde then sent out Scizor and Mesmer.
"Alright, lets see what moves Mesmer can use," Clyde said to himself, looking at his Pokedex.
"I should see what Scizor should do as well," Brock added, using his Rotom Phone to look up Scizor's moves.
"Alright, what moves can Steelix and Slowking use?" Lincoln pondered, looking up the moves of both Pokemon he was using.
"Steelix's moves are Crunch, Sandstorm, Iron Tail, Rock Slide, Dig, Dragon Breath, Head Smash, Slam, Bind, Tackle, Screech, Stealth Rock, Sand Tomb.
Slowking's Usable moves are Safeguard, Power Gem, Protect, Confusion, Psychic, Water Gun, Water Pulse, Amnesia, Surf, Slack Off, Yawn, Disable, Headbutt, Zen Headbutt, and Psych Up," Dexter explained.
"Solid line up of moves here!" Lincoln commented.
"Comment agreed, Lincoln. Mesmer has moves that I haven't heard of yet," Clyde replied.
"And Scizor learned two new Steel Type Moves upon evolving," Brock added.
"Alright, lets start off nice and easy. Steelix, use Iron Tail on Scizor!" Lincoln called out. Steelix snaked forward, and swing Iron Tail at Scizor, when…
"Quick, use Double Team!" Brock called out. Scizor managed to dodge Iron Tail by using Double Team, "Alright, now use Bullet Punch!" Scizor then began rapidly punching Steelix.
"Ok, I'm fairly certain Scizor didn't have that move when it was still a Scyther," Lincoln commented, as Steelix withstood the Bullet Punch.
"Don't forget us, Lincoln! Mesmer, use Ice Ball!" Clyde called out. Mesmer formed Ice Ball and fired it at Slowking.
"Quick, meet the attack with Power Gem!" Lincoln called. From the jewel in it's Shellder crown, Slowking fired off Power Gem, which demolished the Ice Ball mid-flight.
"Alright, try this on for size! Mesmer, use Water Pulse!" Clyde called out. Mesmer then fired off Water Pulse at Steelix, when…
"Steelix, use Dig, and Slowking, use Surf!" Lincoln called out. Steelix wasted no time in burrowing underground, just as Slowking summoned a tidal wave that raged across the battlefield, blocking the Water Pulse, before striking both Scizor and Mesmer, however, only Scizor appeared to take any sort of damage from Surf, while Mesmer seemed unfazed by it, "Looks like Mesmer still has its Water Absorb ability as a Politoed."
"Hang on, 'Water Absorb'?" Clyde questioned, as he consulted his Pokedex.
"Information: Water Absorb: An ability that nullifies damage from any Water Type attack and restores HP," his Pokdex explained.
"Whoa, I wasn't expecting an ability like that!" Clyde exclaimed, as Steelix resurfaced from underneath Mesmer.
"Alright, I think that should do it!" Brock called out.
"Yeah. It was kind of fun doing this," Lincoln replied.
"Yeah. As much as I liked battling with Mesmer, even if it was only for a few minutes, we should probably trade back," Clyde suggested, as Mesmer only clapped his hands together in a happy manner.
"Yeah, I could say the same thing about Steelix and Slowking," Lincoln replied, as he recalled both Pokemon, while Brock and Clyde recalled Scizor and Mesmer. The three of them made their way back to the Trade Machine, and traded each Pokemon back to their original trainers.
"Scizor and Politoed have been registered to your Pokedex," Dexter stated.
"Slowking has been registered to your Pokedex," Clyde's Pokedex stated.
"Alright, now I've accomplished evolving Mesmer the way I wanted to," Lincoln said, letting out both of his newly evolved Pokemon, "So, how are you both feeling after evolving?"
"I can't wait for Mommy to see me now!" Mesmer replied, clapping happily.
"While this metal armor is pretty heavy, I'm actually feeling pretty good about getting stronger," Scizor replied.
"And what about you, Slowking?" Clyde asked his new Slowking.
"In a word, my enhanced intellect is most assuredly a most wonderous gift from when I was but a mere Slowpoke," Slowking replied.
"Bet you anything Lisa would love to try and match wits with Slowking," Lincoln said to Clyde.
"That would be something to behold," Clyde replied. It was then he noticed something. It looked like some sleazy guy trying to put the moves on Miu, offering her a glass of champagne. Miu appeared to be holding up her hands in a defensive manner, obviously not wanting any.
"C'mon girl, you said you Oni have no minimum legal drinking age! What's the harm in throwing a few shots back?" he asked.
"Hey, you!" the grumpy voice of Husker yelled, as he came to Miu's aid, "Are you seriously trying to put the moves on one of MY students?"
"Hey man, I'm just trying to be friendly. After all, she's the one who said that her species has no minimum legal drinking age," the guy replied defensively, just as Lincoln and company came over.
"Miu, is something wrong?" Lincoln asked.
"Oh, thank goodness you're here, Lincoln. This guy's trying to get fresh with me and trying to get me to have some champagne with him," Miu replied.
"What?! But you're not an adult nor are you a Pokemon trainer! He can't condone underage drinking!" Lincoln exclaimed.
"Ordinarily, I'd agree with you, kid, but the thing is, Oni like Miu here have no actual drinking age minimum. They throw back tons of sake throughout their entire lives, even as kids," Husker replied.
"Wait, seriously?! Why is that?!" Bobby questioned.
"It's because alcoholic drinks actually add to the base strength of Oni. The more plastered they are, the stronger they become," Husker explained.
"But Miu here is what you would call… an exception, a special case, if you will," Jazz added.
"Yeah. The thing is I'm highly allergic to alcohol. My parents and I learned about early on when I had my first shot of our homemade sake wine. It also around that time that I had developed my Ultra Strength Skill. Some of the best sorcerers of the Monster Realm theorize that my Ultra Strength is to make up for my inability to drink alcohol," Miu explained.
"Huh, so it's kind of like with how blind people's other senses become sharper to make up for the lack of sight," Lincoln stated.
"That's one way of looking at it. Still, I don't ever feel upset that I can't drink like the rest of my kind," Miu replied.
"Hey kid, what're ya doing, muscling in on my turf?" the guy glared down at Lincoln.
"I saw you were harassing Miu, so naturally I had to step in," Lincoln replied.
"'Harassing'?! No, you misunderstand me!" the guy said, only for Rainer to step up.
"Oh, I think I understand it perfectly! We'll have you know that this party has a very strict policy on alcohol consumption! No one under the legal drinking age is allowed to have any sort of alcohol, no exceptions! Not even for Pokemon Trainers. If you cause trouble one more time, we will throw you out of here!" Rainer warned.
"Tsk, fine!" the guy walked off in a huff. Husker decided to go back to sitting at the table he was at, enjoying a plate of the food that was provided.
"Thanks for that, Rainer," Lincoln said.
"Yes. I'm truly grateful," Miu added.
"Hey, no worries. After all, as one of the hosts of this party, I want to try and make sure our guests follow the rules to make things safe for themselves and the other guests," Rainer replied.
"And that teacher of yours helped out too," Lincoln said to Miu.
"Yeah. Mr. Husker may be pretty grumpy for both a werecat and a math teacher, but he does take his responsibilities very seriously," Miu replied. Lincoln took this opportunity to make his move.
"By the way, Rainer, I wanted to talk to you about your brother, Mikey," Lincoln piped up. Rainer looked surprised, but smiled nonetheless.
"Oh sure, what did you want to talk about? Maybe you want to ask for my advice on convincing him to evolve his Eevee into a Vaporeon?" Rainer asked.
"Well, it does have to do with his Eevee, yes. What I'm want to say is that if he were to keep his Eevee the way it is, then your family would be a complete set that perfectly mirrors your partner Pokemon," Lincoln said. Rainer looked perplexed.
"How do you mean?" he asked.
"Think about it this way; You, Sparky, Pyro, and all of your cousins each have one of the evolved forms of Eevee, and each of you reflects your partner Pokemon to a T, right?" Lincoln asked.
"Yes, I suppose you have a point, but what are you trying to say?" Rainer asked.
"You see, much like how Mikey is younger and smaller that you guys, Eevee is a smaller version of your Partner Pokemon, and the two of them can be considered mirror images of one another. If Mikey keeps Eevee the way it is, then your family would be a perfect mirror image of your partner Pokemon," Lincoln explained. Rainer was now very surprised to hear this. They didn't know it, but the rest of the older family members heard this too, and thought hard about it for a moment. On one hand, they had planned this Party to encourage Mikey to evolve his Eevee, but on the other hand, what Lincoln said did hold some poetic sense. Unfortunately, their thoughts were interrupted by the sound of firecrackers going off, which was throwing the party guests into something of a panic.
"What's going on back there?!" Sparky questioned.
"I just heard some guy's voice,"
"Introductions are now, that is our choice!" from up in the sky, a familiar Meowth shaped balloon began to land.
"Travelling the world, plundering it's rarest resources!"
"All to enhance our own personal forces!"
"This duo shall not be stopped by the law!"
"We do what we want, while you stand in awe!"
"Jessie, the fiery temptress of villany!"
"Technical Master James, that is me!"
"We're an independent team of criminals, fighting for our rights!"
"Give up now, you can never win any sort of fights!"
"WE'RE THE X-ROCKETS! TRAVELLING NIGHT AND DAY!"
"And with Meowth, the price, you'll surely pay!"
"Oh, not those guys again!" Lincoln groaned.
"You know them?" Jazz asked.
"They call themselves the X-Rockets, since they used to be part of Team Rocket. Now, they're just a band of petty criminals," Lincoln explained.
"Call us petty all you want; we'll just take what we want!" Jessie snapped.
"And on today's menu is all those evolved Pokemon, the rare stones, and we'll take all that food to go!" James said, as they deployed three large suction vacuums from their balloon, which began to suck in all the evolution items, the food, and all the Pokemon, save for the really heavy ones, into each container.
"Hey, stop that! You can't take everything for yourselves!" Sparky yelled, just as Pikachu, along with both Lincoln and Mikey's Eevees got sucked in as well.
"No, Pikachu! Eevee!" Lincoln called out.
"Give back my Eevee!" Mikey yelled, only to be ignored.
"Alright Weezing, time for a Smokescreen get away!" James said, as his Weezing began spraying out Smokescreen, obscuring everyone's vision.
"I can't see!"
"We have to do something!"
"Someone has to get this smoke out of the way!"
"Let me try! Go, Gale Wind!" Octavia said, as she summoned a mighty wind that blew away all the smoke. As it did, everything from the party was gone.
"All the Pokemon are gone!" Brock exclaimed.
"JOLTEON / VAPOREON / FLAREON / ESPEON / UMBREON / GLACEON / LEAFEON / SYLVEON!" the older family members exclaimed.
"All of the evolution items have been stolen!"
"And so has the food too!"
"Those X–Rockets took everything they could get their grubby hands on!" Girl Jordan commented.
"Look, there's their balloon!" Zach exclaimed, seeing the balloon high above the estate.
"I got this! Noctowl, go and pop that balloon!" Clyde said, sending out his Noctowl, which flew up and right through the balloon, sending it crashing down.
"Alright, now let's get them!" Sparky said, as they swarmed the basket, only to find that it was empty.
"They're gone!" Pyro exclaimed.
"They must've used that balloon as a decoy!" Lincoln commented, just as Loona came over, and sniffed around the balloon, then in the air.
"Smells like they took to the nearby road," she stated, pointing in a direction, leading into a forest and towards Evolution Mountain.
"Well, in that case, we should get moving then!" Charlie said.
"Hold on there, Charlie… You and your classmates aren't doing anything dangerous on my watch!" Husker said.
"But Mr. Husker, Loona's the only one who has the scent thanks to her Master Tracker Skill!" Charlie argued.
"Plus, we'll have Lincoln with us as our bodyguard," Verosika added.
"If it'll put your mind at ease, the three of us can tag along with them and step in if things get dangerous for them," Blitz chimed in.
"Hrrm, I don't like this idea one little bit, but I suppose, given the circumstances, it can't be helped," Husker relented.
"Don't worry, sir, we'll keep them safe," Lincoln said, as he, his friends, his fiancés, and the Eevee family ran off into the forest with Loona leading the way.
Later, on the shores of a lake on Evolution Mountain,
Having thought they'd given Lincoln and the others the slip, the X-Rockets sat down on the shores of a large lake to partake in their ill-gotten food, "*burps* Now that was a hefty meal!" Meowth commented.
"We've failed so many times, I've almost forgotten what true success feels and tastes like!" James commented, content with his large meal. Jessie then landed a hard blow to his head.
"I don't want you to ever call us losers again! From now on, we're the X-Rockets, champions of crime!" Jessie proclaimed.
"Champions… of the WHOLE WORLD!" James giddily exclaimed.
"Fantasize all you want later, you two. It's time we made those two evolve!" Meowth said, pointing to a pair of cages that had both Lincoln and Mikey's Eevee in them. Both looked scared.
"You're right. Evolution time!" Jessie said, as they approached the two Eevee.
"What we need are some really evil looking Pokemon," James stated.
"Precisely. And since we need to actually bond with them to evolve them into Espeon, Umbreon, and Sylveon, those three are out. Which is why we should change one of them into a Jolteon!" Meowth decided, holding a Thunder Stone, only to get socked on the top of his head by his cohorts.
"Who said you get to decide?! We should go for something that's evil, yet elegant, which is why we need them to become Flareon and Glaceon," Jessie stated, holding a Fire Stone and an Ice Stone.
"Huh? Hold on, Jessie! Vaporeon and Leafeon are way more evil looking!" James argued, holding a Water Stone and a Leaf Stone.
"How is Leafeon even remotely evil looking?! Besides, with how spikey Jolteon is, that's a shoe-in choice for us!" Meowth argued.
"Flareon and it's passionate flames, along with the frightening beauty of Glaceon!" Jessie argued.
"Cool Vaporeon and the razor sharp Leafeon!" James argued.
"I'm saying Jolteon has to be a choice!"
"We need Vaporeon and Leafeon!"
"JOLTEON!"
"VAPOREON AND LEAFEON!"
Jessie then blew a whistle, calling for them to stop, "Time out! I've got a truly dastardly idea!" she proclaimed, catching her teammates attention.
"You? Have an idea? Should we be worried?" Meowth asked, irking Jessie, but she shrugged it off.
"Let's try using all five stones on one of the Eevee! It's bound to evolve into something truly evil!" she explained.
"Ok, that sounds perfectly bad!" James replied, liking the idea.
"Count me in!" Meowth said, as they proceeded to try and use all five stones on Mikey's Eevee, when…
"Mesmer, use Bubble Beam!" Lincoln's voice called out, as the X-Rockets were blasted into a tree with Bubble Beam. They looked up to see Lincoln, along with his friends and the Eevee family standing before them. Charlie wasted no time in freeing the captive Pokemon.
"That's not possible! How did you find us so quickly?!" Jessie exclaimed.
"Yeah! It's the first time we didn't screw up!" Meowth commented.
"You really shouldn't have left your balloon behind as a decoy for us to find. I was able to track you guys down based on your scent," Loona commented.
"Grr, leave it to some mutt monster to ruin our perfect plans!" Jessie growled, as she retrieved both cages, "In that case, we'll just have to settle for these Eevee!"
"That's what you think, you ugly old hag! Even one Eevee is one too many!" Misty yelled. That one commented seemed to be all it took to infuriate Jessie beyond normal human limits.
"Wha… wha… wha… what… did you just call me?!" Jessie yelled, sounding so angry, everyone there could swear she was breathing fire.
"Eek! Jessie just…!" James began, fearfully holding onto Meowth.
"Evolved into a Flareon!" Meowth finished, also in fear.
"JAMES, MEOWTH, GET READY FOR BATTLE!" she yelled at her cohorts.
"Uh, right! Weezing, Sawk, Darmanitan, go!" James said, sending out his three chosen Pokemon.
"Go, Arbok, Whiscash, and Ariados! Teach these puny little punks who's boss around here!" Jessie exclaimed, sending out her chosen Pokemon.
"I'M NOT PUNY!" Misty snapped.
"Ready to go Pikachu, Mesmer?" Lincoln asked.
"Whenever you are, Mr. Lincoln!" Mesmer replied, clapping happily.
"We got to rescue our junior member!" Pikachu added.
"Hold it!" Sparky said, as he, Rainer, Pyro, and their cousins stepped forth with their partner Pokemon, "Remember, that's Mikey's Eevee! It's our duty to get it back ourselves! We'll rescue your Eevee for you as well for tracking them all down! You guys ready?" Sparky asked his family.
"OH YEAH!" they replied.
"Alright, witness the power of an evolved Pokemon! Jolteon, attack!" Sparky said, as his Jolteon went on the offensive.
"Vaporeon, attack!" Rainer said, as his Vaporeon charged in.
"Flareon, attack!" Pyro said, sending in Flareon.
"Espeon / Umbreon / Leafeon / Glaceon / Sylveon, attack!" Marisol, Mizuki, Vert, Yuki, and Faye said, sending in their partners.
"Arbok, Poison Sting!" Jessie ordered, as Arbok fired off its Poison Sting.
"Jolteon, dodge, them show them what your Pin Missile can do!" Sparky called out. Jolteon dodged, and fired off Pin Missile, damaging Arbok.
"Darmanitan, use Hammer Arm! Sawk, use Low Kick!" James ordered. Darmanitan and Sawk went in, ready to throw their attacks at Espeon and Umbreon, when…
"Espeon / Umbreon, Double Team!" Marisol and Mizuki ordered. After images of both Pokemon began appearing, as Hammer Arm and Low Kick missed them.
"Now, fire off a Psybeam!" Marisol said, as Sawk got blasted with Psybeam.
"Umbreon, use Dark Pulse!" Mizuki said, as Umbreon fired Dark Pulse into Darmanitan.
"Alright, Weezing, use Sludge Bomb on Vaporeon!" James called out, as Weezing went on the attack.
"Vaporeon, use Acid Armor!" Rainer called out. Vaporeon dove into the water and melted into the water, much to Weezing's confusion, as it began firing Sludge Bomb randomly into the lake, "Alright, use Water Gun!" a stream of water shot out from the water, hitting Weezing, sending it back into James, along with Sawk and Darmanitan.
"Whiscash, use Earth Power! Ariados, Night Shade!" Jessie ordered. Whiscash slammed the ground, causing it to break apart while moving towards Leafeon and Glaceon, while Ariados fired Night Shade.
"Quick Leafeon, dodge and use Leaf Blade!" Vert called out. Leafeon leapt out of the way of Earth Power and Night Shade, as did Glaceon, and it landed a powerful Leaf Blade on Whiscash.
"Glaceon, use Ice Beam!" Yuki ordered. Glaceon fired off Ice Beam, which froze Ariados solid.
"Grr, only one thing left to do!" Jessie said, recalling Whiscash and Ariados, while James recalled Darmanitan and Sawk.
"RUN AWAY!" the three of them yelled, as they ran off, still carrying both Eevee.
"I don't think so! Flareon, use Flamethrower and stop them in their tracks!" Pyro called out. Flareon blasted the area in front of the X-Rockets with fire, blocking their escape.
"Alright Sylveon, use your feels and take those cages back!" Faye called out. Sylveon shot out its feelers, wrapping around the bars of the cages, and ripping them away from the X-Rockets, landing them safely in the hands of both Lincoln and Mikey.
"Eevee, you're alright!" Mikey happily exclaimed, getting his Eevee out of the cage.
"That must've been a scary experience for you, Eevee. But we can wrap things up here, so you can just relax. Pikachu?" Lincoln said, turning to his most trusted partner.
"Say no more," Pikachu replied, as he fired off Thunderbolt at the X-Rockets, leaving them charred.
"I won't accept this! We refuse to lose this battle!" Jessie proclaimed.
"That's right! Especially on our first day as champions!" James added.
"Lets get'em!" Meowth proclaimed.
"Huh?! You guys still want to battle?!" Lincoln questioned.
"They must be real gluttons for punishment," Vaggie commented.
"Well, they do seem more confident than normal," Brock observed.
"Arbok, Headbutt!" Jessie ordered. Arbok landed a devastating headbutt on Jolteon, sending it flying into Sylveon, Leafeon, and Espeon.
"Ack, Jolteon / Sylveon / Leafeon / Espeon, no!" Sparky, Faye, Vert, and Marisol exclaimed, as Weezing fired Sludge Bomb at the remaining Pokemon.
"No, Flareon / Vaporeon / Umbreon / Glaceon!" Pyro, Rainer, Mizuki, and Yuki exclaimed, rushing to their Pokemon's aid. Mikey saw this and got really mad.
"Alright Eevee, my brothers and cousins worked hard to help save you, now its time to show everyone what we can do!" Mikey exclaimed.
"Hey, that's the way, Mikey!" Misty exclaimed.
"That's right! Show them you're not scared of them!" Lincoln added.
"I will! My Eevee isn't like most other Eevee! Use Sizzly Slide!" Mikey called out. Eevee wrapped itself up in fire, and charged right into Arbok, sending it back into a tree, "Follow up with Buzzy Buzz!" Eevee then fired off a jolt of electricity at Weezing, sending it down to defeat as well.
"Whoa, I didn't know Eevee could use those moves!" Sparky commented, amazed at how Eevee was battling.
"I've never even heard of them!" Pyro added.
"Y'see, my Eevee can learn moves of the same types of ALL its evolutions. Now, lets give them a taste of your Fairy Type Move! Send those guys flying with Sparkly Swirl!" Mikey called out. His Eevee then whipped up a pink whirlwind that sent the X-Rockets flying.
"NO! And we were so close to actually being true blue champions!" Jessie whined.
"But it's not all bad, Jessie. I managed to save one of the bags of Evolution Items we stole!" James said, holding up a burlap sack.
"Hey, that's some pretty slick work there, Jimmy! At least we can hock them off for some real profit!" Meowth commented.
"Oh, right! Just what I was thinking! So, who cares if we're blasting off again?" Jessie questioned, as they flew somewhere in the forest on Evolution Mountain.
"Whoa, those attacks were unlike any other I've ever seen!" Brock commented, as Eevee ran back to Mikey.
"Yeah, they were," Sparky replied, turning to Mikey, along with his other brothers and cousins, "Mikey, winning your first battle all by yourself was truly a feat to be proud of!"
"And to do so without evolving your Eevee!" Rainer added.
"And you said you never liked to battle, but you were amazing out there!" Pyro added.
"W-Well, I… just wanted to help everybody out," Mikey replied bashfully.
"There's nothing wrong with helping out others, little guy," Verosika said.
"She's right, you know. Helping out others is only natural," Charlie added.
"But I have to ask, where did Eevee learn to do those amazing attacks?" Sparky asked.
"Well, this guy was walking by as I was playing with Eevee one day, and told me that my Eevee was not like others of its species, that its capable of learning special moves of the same type as each of its evolutions. But he also told me that because of this, Eevee would be unable to ever evolve," Mikey replied.
"Hmm, so you met some kind of Move Tutor?" Yuki asked.
"Yeah, that's right," Mikey replied.
"Wait, I thought Move Tutors were the things used with TMs and TRs to help teach Pokemon new moves that way?" Lincoln asked.
"Ordinarily, that is true, but some people can help teach moves that can never be made into either a TM or a TR," Vert explained.
"Though they would ask for something in exchange, apart from money, that is. But we're getting off track here. So, you say that Eevee can't evolve?" Sparky asked Mikey.
"Yeah, that's right. And that's ok with me, because I want to be an Eevee Trainer!" Mikey proclaimed. To his surprise and relief, his brothers and cousins nodded approvingly.
"And that's quite alright, Mikey," Rainer replied.
"If you felt that way about it, then you should've told us sooner instead of letting us pressure you into it," Marisol added.
"And now our family truly is complete!" Pyro exclaimed.
"Well, all's well that ends well," Vaggie commented.
"So, what do you say we head back and celebrate Eevee's first official victory?" Sparky suggested.
"Sounds good!" Lincoln commented, as they rounded up the Evolution Items that didn't get blown away with the X-Rockets, and headed back to the estate, "By the way, you guys wouldn't happen to know anyone in town that specializes in Mega Evolution, would you?"
"Oh yeah, old man Giro does! He's collected almost every kind of Mega Stone that exists. But I hear he only gives them out under special circumstances," Sparky replied.
"We'll give you his address if you want, but we wouldn't recommend going to his place unless your serious about training under him," Pyro said in a warning tone.
"We'll take our chances. I want to learn to master Mega Evolution so my Pokemon don't wind up exhausted after battle each and every time," Lincoln replied, as they neared the estate.
"By the way, Lincoln, I understand that you have a second Clefairy, right?" Zach asked.
"Yes, it evolved from a Cleffa I caught on Mount Moon," Lincoln replied.
"Well, what do you say to a trade? Your second Clefairy for one of these two Pokemon?" Zach suggested, as he tossed two Pokeballs, releasing two, identical fairy like Pokemon holding onto either an orange or white flower.
"Whoa, who are these Pokemon?" Lincoln questioned, as he scanned the two of them.
"Floette, the Fairy Pokemon, a Fairy Type first discovered in the Kalos Region. Floette pours its own power into flowers in order to better care for them. It does not forgive anyone who messes up its flower beds. Five different colors of Floette have been confirmed, along with its pre-evolved form, Flabebe, and it's evolved form, Florges," Dexter explained.
"Huh, you'd think it would also be a Grass Type with how it's holding that flower," Octavia commented.
"Yeah. I caught these two during a trip to Kalos. I only need one, so I figured Lincoln would like to trade his other Clefairy for one of my Floette," Zach explained.
"Hmm, well, I haven't been doing too much to show them much of the world like I told them I would when I caught them. It's a deal, Zach! And would be too much of an issue to trade for your Orange Floette?" Lincoln asked.
"Not at all!" Zach replied, recalling both Floette. The two of them made their way over to the trade machine to begin the exchange.
Meanwhile, with the X-Rockets,
Fortunately for them, the X-Rockets had a semi soft landing as they landed in some bushes in the forest, "No fair! We almost had them!" Jessie complained.
"Well, there ain't no use in crying over spilled milk. At least we managed to leave out of there with some of Evolution Items, thanks to James," Meowth replied.
"That's right! Now we just have to sell them and we can see about getting some better equipment!" James replied. It was then they heard something and ducked behind the bushes.
"Alright, that should do for our quota!" the three of them peered out and saw Team Rocket loading crates of Evolution Stones into their vehicles.
"Team Rocket? What are they doing here?" James wondered.
"And what's this quota they're talking about?" Meowth questioned.
"That's the last of the crates, Tyson, sir!" one of the grunts said, loading the last crate onto the transport.
"Good! Now all we have to do is sell them off and make some cold, hard cash!" the lead grunt said.
"And we managed to do it without alerting the American Brat or his friends," another grunt stated.
"That should go without saying. That kid's been a thorn in the boss' side for too long! Fortunately, if his plan for his hometown goes off without a hitch, he'll be one less thing to worry about! Alright grunts, load up and roll out!" Tyson boomed, as they all got back into their transports. As soon as they were all boarded up, they took off, driving past where the X-Rockets were hiding.
"Wasn't that Admin Tyson?" James questioned.
"It was. Wonder what they were doing up on this mountain?" Meowth wondered.
"I saw just a glimpse of what was in those crates, but it looked like they had tons of Evolution Stones. Which raises the question as to why WE never found any before?" Jessie pondered.
"I told you that you and James were digging in the wrong place!" Meowth yelled.
"But he also mentioned that brat and his hometown. Now what could Giovanni want with some small American town?" James wondered.
"I don't know, but it has nothing to do with us. We ain't in Team Rocket anymore," Meowth replied.
"And besides, dealing with his hometown is the brat's problem, not ours. Now, lets go and see about selling these things off," Jessie said, as James slung the sack over his shoulder, and they made their way back down the mountain.
Meanwhile, at Sunset Canyon Retirement Home,
Albert was sitting in his chair, looking through some old photographs. Each one had him, along with three others, two guys, one of them being much younger than the other two, and a girl, all having fun, "*sigh* I hope Lincoln's having a grand time in Kanto," he said to himself.
"Looking through old photographs, Albert?" Myrtle asked, coming into the room.
"Yeah. They were from that time I washed up on the shores of Kanto when I was on leave. My friends and I were quite the group," Albert commented, showing Myrtle some of the photos.
"Am I to assume that one of these younger men is your friend, Samuel?" Myrtle asked.
"Yeah. He was just starting out as a Pokemon Professor when I first met him. And that girl there is Agatha. From what Samuel's told me, she's become one of the Kanto Region's Elite Four, and one of the trainers Lincoln will have to face if he manages to win his way through the Indigo League," Albert explained.
"Ah, I see. Was she a nice girl to know?" Myrtle asked. Albert felt a sweat drop.
"Well, kind of, if you can get past her harsh comments and philosophies. She even makes Scoots look bearable," he replied bluntly.
"Oh dear. Hopefully, she doesn't give Lincoln too much grief when he gets around to that League thing," Myrtle commented.
"Well, from what Samuel told me, Agatha's going to retire after this year's League Conference. Much like myself and Samuel, she's kind of getting up there in years," Albert replied.
"Hmm, well, nothing wrong with wanting to retire. But what about this other younger man?" Myrtle's question caused a solemn and forlorn look to work its way onto Albert's face, "Oh, I didn't mean to upset you, or anything, if I did."
"No, it's not your fault. That kid was one of the first trainers that Samuel sponsored as a Pokemon League official. But, there was an incident many years ago, when I came back after the war to visit them, that he was… lost in."
"Oh dear. That's terrible!" Myrtle exclaimed.
"Yeah, well, that's the life of both a Pokemon Trainer and an adventurer. Sometimes, you'll have to risk your life in some scenarios," Albert replied.
"So, what was his name?" Myrtle asked.
"His name was… Giovanni."
