Chapter 1
The soft light of dawn filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow over the Hyoudou household. Outside, the birds were already chirping, signaling the start of another day. Inside, however, the rhythmic snores of Issei Hyoudou provided a sharp contrast to the peaceful morning. His alarm clock buzzed incessantly on the nightstand, but it might as well have been a lullaby for all the good it did.
Across the room, Ise Hyoudou was already wide awake, sitting up in his bed with a quiet sigh. He had grown used to this by now—his brother's legendary ability to ignore alarms, combined with his reluctance to leave the comfort of his bed. Ise glanced at the clock: 6:45 a.m. They'd be late for school if Issei didn't get up soon.
"Issei," Ise called softly, his voice tinged with a mix of amusement and exasperation. "Time to get up, man."
Issei groaned in response, shifting slightly but refusing to emerge from under the pile of blankets. His hand lazily slapped the snooze button before retreating back into his cocoon.
Ise shook his head, a mischievous grin tugging at his lips. "Alright, you asked for it."
He closed his eyes, letting a small pulse of magic flow through his fingers. It was subtle, barely noticeable unless you knew what to look for, but Ise focused the energy toward his still-sleeping brother. A cold breeze swirled through the room, making its way toward Issei's back. The effect was immediate.
"AH!" Issei shot up, eyes wide as the sudden chill raced up his spine. He twisted around, looking frantically for the source of the cold. "What the hell was that?!"
Ise stifled a laugh, quickly putting on an innocent face. "What happened?"
"I felt... something cold! Like a ghost or something!" Issei rubbed his arms, shivering.
Ise shrugged casually. "Must've been a draft. You know how this old house is."
Issei eyed him suspiciously for a moment before letting out a heavy sigh. "Damn, I swear this place is haunted or something." Grumbling, he threw the blankets off and stumbled out of bed. "Whatever it was, it woke me up, so... thanks, I guess."
Ise chuckled under his breath, watching as Issei shuffled groggily toward the closet. "You're welcome. Now hurry up, we don't want to be late."
"Yeah, yeah," Issei muttered as he rifled through his clothes, pulling out his school uniform with half-closed eyes.
Ise stood up, heading toward his own dresser to grab his uniform. As he dressed, his thoughts wandered. Ever since he'd been reborn into this world, he'd learned to embrace the new life he'd been given. Being Issei's younger brother was certainly... an experience, but Ise had adapted to it, and surprisingly, it wasn't all bad.
He had quickly come to grips with the fact that this world was different from the one he'd known before. Magic, devils, and the supernatural were real here, and Ise had found himself with magical abilities of his own. It was strange, yet fascinating, and over time, he'd learned to harness his powers, practicing in secret so as not to attract too much attention.
Even though he enjoyed teasing Issei with small tricks—like that cold breeze—he kept his abilities mostly to himself. His brother didn't need to know. Not yet, at least.
After a few minutes, both brothers were dressed and ready. Issei was still half-asleep, dragging his feet as he tied his shoes, while Ise finished packing their school bags, tossing Issei's over to him.
"Here. You're gonna need that," Ise said, amused as Issei barely caught the bag in time.
"Ugh, school," Issei groaned, slinging the bag over his shoulder. "Why does it have to start so early?"
"Because you'd sleep all day if it didn't," Ise quipped, heading for the door.
Issei shrugged with a lazy grin. "Can't argue with that."
As they walked out of their shared room and headed downstairs, the aroma of breakfast wafted through the house. Their mother, Miki Hyoudou, was already busy in the kitchen, humming softly as she flipped pancakes on the stove.
"Morning, boys!" she greeted cheerfully, glancing over her shoulder as the two of them entered the room. "Pancakes today! You better hurry, though, or you'll be late."
"Thanks, Mom," Ise said, grabbing a couple of pancakes from the stack on the table and rolling them up in a napkin. He was used to rushing through breakfast—mostly because Issei always managed to delay them with his reluctance to get out of bed.
Issei grabbed one as well, though he looked longingly at the plate. "Can't we sit down and eat?"
"We'll sit when we're not almost late," Ise shot back, already heading toward the door with his pancake roll in hand.
Miki smiled warmly at them. "Have a good day at school, boys."
They both mumbled a quick goodbye before stepping out into the cool morning air. The sun was higher now, casting long shadows over the quiet neighborhood as they walked down the front path. Ise adjusted his school bag, letting the peaceful moment settle around them.
Issei took a bite of his pancake roll, chewing thoughtfully. "You ever wonder what it'd be like to just skip school and do something else?"
"All the time," Ise replied, glancing at his brother with a smirk. "But I figure we'd get caught, and then we'd have to listen to Mom lecture us all day."
Issei laughed. "Yeah, you're probably right."
As they reached the sidewalk, Ise couldn't help but reflect on how strange his life had become. It wasn't just the fact that he'd been reborn into a new world—it was the realization that, despite everything, he actually enjoyed this life. Sure, there were challenges ahead, but with his powers and the advantage of knowing what might come, he felt ready for whatever the future held.
Issei interrupted his thoughts with a playful shove. "Hey, don't space out on me. We gotta get to school, remember?"
Ise blinked and grinned. "Yeah, I know. Let's go."
With that, the two brothers set off toward Kuoh Academy, the quiet morning shifting into the familiar rhythm of another school day.
The sun climbed higher into the sky, warming the quiet streets as Issei and Ise walked side by side toward Kuoh Academy. It was their first official day at the school, and the buzz of excitement in the air was almost tangible. Issei, as usual, couldn't contain his enthusiasm, already babbling on about his plans for the day.
"Man, Ise, I can't wait to see all the girls! This place is supposed to be crawling with beauties! Just think about it—cute faces, nice racks, and those uniforms... I've been waiting for this since we got accepted," Issei said, practically bouncing with every step. His eyes sparkled with excitement as he pictured the scene that awaited them. "I'm telling you, this is gonna be heaven!"
Ise glanced at his older brother, amusement tugging at the corners of his lips. It was always the same with Issei—if there were girls involved, he was all in. His obsession with the opposite sex was legendary, and it seemed today would be no different.
But as Issei continued his monologue, Ise found his attention drifting. His brother's words faded into the background, blending into the distant hum of traffic and chirping birds. Instead, Ise's thoughts turned inward, reflecting on the bizarre reality he'd been living ever since his rebirth into this world.
It still felt surreal sometimes—one moment, he had been living his previous life in a completely different world, and the next, he was reborn as Issei's younger brother, almost like a twin, though they were separated by only a year. The fact that he had his memories from that previous life only made it more complicated. At first, it had been overwhelming, trying to reconcile his past life with his new one. He'd found himself in a world filled with magic, devils, and other supernatural beings, yet it wasn't entirely unfamiliar.
He had always been a fan of anime and fantasy stories in his old life, so he knew the basic rules of this kind of world. The fact that he had ended up in the High School DxD universe, of all places, had been both exciting and nerve-wracking. He knew what kind of chaos was likely to unfold in the future, and he had no intention of standing on the sidelines while Issei—his brother—got caught up in it.
But that didn't mean he wasn't still figuring things out.
Being born into the Hyoudou family had been strange, to say the least. He'd gone from being an adult with his own life to being a baby again, dependent on parents who weren't his own. Gorou and Miki were kind, though, and he'd quickly adapted to his new role as Ise Hyoudou. As the years passed, he'd grown used to the routine of this world, all the while secretly experimenting with the powers he had been granted upon his rebirth.
He didn't know why or how he had received these magical abilities, but he wasn't one to waste an opportunity. Teleportation, object manipulation, and barrier magic had all come naturally to him over time. He had spent years practicing in secret, honing his skills until they felt like second nature. The power he wielded was substantial, and while he didn't flaunt it, he knew it gave him an edge.
Still, being Issei's brother came with its own set of challenges. Issei was the same in this world as he had been in the DxD series—perverted, loud, and obsessed with girls. But there was more to him than that. He was a good guy at heart, and though Ise often found himself teasing his brother, there was a deep bond between them that had grown over the years.
Ise had grown protective of Issei in a way he hadn't expected. Knowing what lay ahead—what kinds of dangers and temptations would come their way—he wanted to be prepared, not just for his sake, but for Issei's as well. His brother had no idea what kind of world they were living in. Not yet, anyway.
Ise had kept his abilities hidden from everyone, including Issei. For now, it was better that way. His brother didn't need to know about the magic or the dangers lurking just beneath the surface of their seemingly ordinary lives. At least, not until it was absolutely necessary.
Still, the thought of what the future held weighed heavily on his mind. How long could he keep up the act? How long until Issei got dragged into the supernatural world, as he inevitably would? And when that day came, would Ise be ready to protect him?
He sighed softly, lost in his own thoughts as they continued down the street. The world around him seemed to blur as he walked, the familiar sounds of the city fading into the background.
Being reborn into this world was an opportunity—a second chance at life. But it was also a burden. He knew too much, and yet, he couldn't act too soon. Timing was everything in this world, and for now, he had to play the part of the carefree younger brother, biding his time until the moment came when he would need to step up.
"Yo, Ise, are you even listening to me?"
Issei's voice snapped Ise out of his reverie. He blinked, refocusing on his brother, who was now staring at him with a raised eyebrow.
"What?" Ise asked, feigning innocence.
"I was saying, this is the perfect chance to start building my harem! You know what I mean, right?" Issei said, a wide grin plastered across his face. "I've got a good feeling about today."
Ise smirked, shaking his head slightly. "Yeah, I'm sure you do."
Issei clapped him on the back, clearly pleased with his own enthusiasm. "I mean, come on, man! Think about it! Hot girls everywhere, and we're free to enjoy the view."
"Just don't get yourself expelled on the first day," Ise replied, trying to keep the amusement out of his voice. "You remember what Mom said, right?"
Issei waved him off. "Yeah, yeah, I'll behave. Probably."
With that, Issei launched back into his monologue about the girls they'd see and the 'endless possibilities' that awaited them. Ise tuned him out again, his mind still lingering on the complexities of his new life.
As Ise and Issei approached the gates of Kuoh Academy, the school grounds began to fill with students, most of them in their polished uniforms, chatting with friends and preparing for the day. The prestigious school was known for its high academic standards, but, more notably to Issei, it was also known for its student body—specifically the beautiful girls who roamed its halls.
The moment they stepped through the gates, Issei's eyes darted around, scanning the crowd for any signs of potential harem material. It didn't take long for him to spot them—elegant, busty girls in their pristine uniforms, their skirts swishing as they moved gracefully across the schoolyard. His face lit up, but he kept himself in check, resisting the urge to blurt out the perverted thoughts that were undoubtedly running through his head.
"Holy crap," Issei muttered under his breath, his gaze locking onto a particularly voluptuous girl with long brown hair and a cute face. "Ise...this place is a goldmine. A freaking goldmine!"
Ise couldn't help but smirk at his brother's restraint. It was rare for Issei to hold back his thoughts, but it seemed he was trying to make a good first impression—at least for now. As they made their way through the crowd, Issei continued to ogle the various girls passing by, his expression a mixture of awe and barely contained excitement. His mind was clearly swimming with thoughts about the endless possibilities that lay ahead, but to his credit, he managed to keep quiet.
Meanwhile, Ise couldn't deny that the girls of this world were undeniably attractive. He admired them in his own way, though his thoughts didn't veer into the same perverted territory as his brother's. He had always appreciated beauty, but now, standing amidst the crowd of students, he felt a new layer of fascination. The women in this world were just as stunning as he had remembered from the High School DxD series, but seeing them in person added a whole new dimension to it.
His gaze lingered on a group of girls chatting near the entrance, their laughter light and carefree. There was something captivating about the way they moved, the subtle grace in their steps, and the way their uniforms accentuated their curves. Ise let out a quiet breath, marveling at how surreal this all felt—walking through the gates of Kuoh Academy, side by side with Issei, surrounded by the very characters he had once watched on screen.
But while Issei's focus was entirely on the girls, Ise had other things in mind. Ever since he'd begun experimenting with his magic, he had been working on developing a spell that would enhance his senses, allowing him to pick up on even the faintest details around him. It was something he had kept under wraps, testing it only in private to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. But now seemed like the perfect opportunity to give it a try—especially since they were stepping into a world filled with supernatural beings.
Without drawing any attention to himself, Ise subtly activated the spell. His senses immediately sharpened—his hearing became more acute, picking up the distant conversations and footsteps around him, and his vision seemed to grow clearer, allowing him to notice the smallest details in the faces of the students passing by.
But it wasn't just his physical senses that were heightened. There was something else—an awareness that went beyond sight or sound. He could feel the presence of others more keenly now, the ebb and flow of energy in the space around him. It was like a sixth sense, one that allowed him to detect the magical auras of those nearby.
And that's when he felt it—a set of eyes locked onto him, watching him intently from above.
A chill ran down Ise's spine, the hairs on the back of his neck standing on end. Whoever was staring at him, it wasn't just a passing glance. The moment he had activated his spell, it was as if he had triggered something, like an invisible thread had been pulled, drawing their attention directly to him.
Keeping his movements casual, Ise glanced up from beneath the bangs of his golden-blonde hair, trying not to appear suspicious. His heart raced as his enhanced senses guided his gaze upward, toward the balcony of the school building.
That's when he saw them.
Standing on the balcony, overlooking the entrance to the school, were two figures—Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri. They were both dressed in the Kuoh Academy uniform, but there was no mistaking their identities. Rias, with her long crimson hair that flowed down her back like a waterfall, and Sona, with her sharp, intelligent gaze behind her glasses and short, dark hair.
But what caught Ise off guard wasn't just their presence—it was the fact that both of them seemed to be looking directly at him. It wasn't a casual glance or a fleeting look of curiosity. Their eyes were locked on him with an intensity that sent another chill down his spine.
Rias's gaze, in particular, seemed to bore into him, her piercing blue eyes narrowing slightly as if she was studying him, assessing him. Sona, standing beside her, appeared more composed, her expression unreadable, but there was a subtle tension in her posture as well.
Ise's heart pounded in his chest. Did they know something? Had they sensed his magic when he activated the spell? He hadn't expected to draw their attention so quickly, especially on the first day.
Trying to remain calm, Ise resisted the urge to panic. He wasn't sure what they were thinking or why they were watching him so closely, but the last thing he wanted was to give himself away. He forced himself to act natural, keeping his pace steady as he and Issei walked further into the schoolyard.
Issei, completely oblivious to the intense gazes from above, continued his quiet ogling of the girls around him. His mind was still entirely focused on the 'goldmine' he had discovered, and he hadn't noticed a thing.
Ise, on the other hand, couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. Even as they moved further into the school grounds, he could still feel Rias and Sona's eyes on him, lingering like a weight on his shoulders.
From beneath his bangs, he risked another quick glance upward, just to confirm what he already knew.
They were still watching him.
In the quiet, sunlit room of the Student Council office, the only sounds were the soft clinks of chess pieces moving across the board and the occasional flick of papers being shuffled. Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri sat across from each other, their eyes focused on the chessboard between them. The game was more than a casual pastime—it was an exchange of ideas, strategies, and subtle implications, as it often was between the two Devil heiresses.
Sona adjusted her glasses, eyes narrowing slightly as she considered her next move. The air between them held a comfortable tension, the kind that came from years of familiarity and mutual respect. She lifted a rook and placed it decisively, cutting off one of Rias's pieces. A small, satisfied smile tugged at her lips as she leaned back in her chair.
"They're here," Sona said calmly, breaking the silence, her gaze shifting momentarily to the stack of papers beside her. "The new male students."
Rias, unfazed by the sudden shift in conversation, merely hummed in acknowledgment. She reached for one of her pieces, a knight, and moved it across the board with precision. Her crimson hair fell gracefully over her shoulders as she leaned forward, her expression thoughtful.
"It was bound to happen after the school became co-ed," Rias said, her voice soft but steady. "More potential recruits."
Sona nodded, though her focus remained on the chessboard. "It's certainly worked in our favor. The influx of male students has brought with it a fresh pool of potential Peerage members. We might find someone worth adding sooner than expected."
Rias glanced up from the game, her blue eyes meeting Sona's. There was a knowing look in her gaze, one that suggested she was already thinking along similar lines. They had both sensed the same thing earlier at the school gates—a flicker of magic that had drawn their attention to the two new arrivals, Ise and Issei Hyoudou.
It hadn't taken long for Sona to begin her investigation.
Without a word, Sona reached for the stack of papers beside her and slid them across the table toward Rias. At the top of the pile was a photograph of Ise Hyoudou, the younger of the two brothers. His golden-blonde hair and bright blue eyes stood out even in the image, a sharp contrast to his brother Issei, who shared a more ordinary appearance.
"I've already started looking into them," Sona said, her tone matter-of-fact. "Ise Hyoudou, and his older brother, Issei. They both enrolled in the first year. No obvious supernatural lineage—no history of their family being involved in anything out of the ordinary."
Rias took the papers and scanned them, her eyes lingering on Ise's image for a moment before flipping through the information. Sona was nothing if not thorough. Her research had already turned up background details about their family, school records, and personal history. Everything seemed perfectly mundane.
But Rias knew better. Mundane didn't always mean ordinary.
"They're both firstborns, then," Rias mused aloud, tapping her finger lightly on Ise's photograph. "If there's no family history of the supernatural, then that would make sense. Any abilities they have would be... new."
Sona raised an eyebrow, watching Rias with a curious glint in her eyes. "You think they're worth keeping an eye on?"
Rias leaned back in her chair, her fingers still resting lightly on the papers. "Ise used magic," she said, her voice thoughtful, "though I doubt he's aware of the full extent of his abilities. What we sensed earlier wasn't anything particularly powerful, but it was... deliberate."
Sona folded her hands in her lap, her expression contemplative. "It was subtle," she agreed. "But noticeable enough for us to detect. I'm surprised he wasn't more careful, especially on his first day."
Rias let out a soft laugh. "If I had to guess, he wasn't expecting us to notice."
The chess game continued, though the conversation had taken precedence now. Rias made her next move, sliding her knight into position to pressure one of Sona's pieces, but her mind was clearly elsewhere.
"And the older brother, Issei," Rias continued, her tone shifting slightly. "He didn't use magic, but I felt something within him, something that suggests he's not completely ordinary either. It's almost as if... he's unaware of it himself."
Sona tilted her head, her sharp mind already working through the possibilities. "If that's the case, then it might take some time before anything develops with him. But it's still worth noting. Perhaps he's a late bloomer."
Rias chuckled softly, her eyes gleaming with interest. "Perhaps."
The two girls fell into a comfortable silence again, though the weight of their discussion lingered in the air. Sona moved another piece on the board, cutting off one of Rias's pawns. Her movements were deliberate, controlled, much like her approach to everything in life.
"What do you plan to do with them?" Sona asked after a moment, her tone casual but with a hint of curiosity beneath it.
Rias didn't answer right away. She was still thinking, still processing everything they had sensed and discussed. The Hyoudou brothers were an enigma, and while they were both intriguing in their own ways, she knew better than to rush into anything.
"For now," Rias said slowly, her gaze still fixed on the chessboard, "we watch. I want to see how they adapt to life at Kuoh Academy. If there's potential in either of them, it'll reveal itself soon enough."
Sona nodded, clearly agreeing with the cautious approach. "I'll keep my research going, just in case. If there's anything more to uncover, I'll find it."
The air in the room grew quieter, the chess game winding down as both girls returned to their own thoughts. Sona remained calm and collected, her focus split between the game and the potential new recruits. Rias, on the other hand, couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more to this—something she had yet to fully understand about the Hyoudou brothers.
Her eyes flicked back to Ise's photograph for a brief moment before she made her next move on the board, her lips curving into a small, thoughtful smile.
"We'll see," she said softly, almost to herself.
Lunch period had finally arrived, giving Ise some much-needed respite from the morning's chaos. As he walked down the school's corridors, the bustling energy of Kuoh Academy surrounded him, students chatting, laughing, and moving in every direction. The building itself was far more impressive than what he remembered from his past life. Back then, high schools were plain, functional, and often worn from years of use. Kuoh, however, was pristine, almost lavish, with wide hallways, beautifully polished floors, and sunlight filtering in through large windows that gave the entire campus a golden glow.
Ise's hands slid into his pockets as he made his way outside. It's strange, he thought, his eyes scanning the grounds, This place feels more like a private academy for the wealthy than a typical school. It's on a different level.
Despite the school's grandeur, Ise had managed to stay mostly under the radar throughout the day. Well, except for the girls.
He grimaced slightly at the memory of how many times he'd had to slip away or hide in the shadows just to avoid their attention. It wasn't that he hated the attention itself—it was just overwhelming. Everywhere he went, there were whispers and giggles about "the cute little genius." Being one of the youngest students in the entire academy was a double-edged sword. On one hand, it gave him a sense of pride to know he'd managed to breeze through his education, all thanks to the knowledge he'd retained from his previous life. On the other hand, it had painted a massive target on his back, especially with how... adorable he appeared in this world.
Sigh, cute femboy problems, I guess.
He chuckled inwardly at that. He could've graduated even earlier, but he deliberately slowed down when it came to high school. He wanted to be here when Issei started his journey into the supernatural world, to share in whatever crazy adventures would follow. Of course, there was also the matter of his own interests.
As he walked across the courtyard, Ise found a quiet spot under a tree, away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the school. He sat down on a low stone wall, the shade offering some relief from the midday sun. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out a worn sketchbook and flipped it open. Drawing had become a calming pastime for him, something he'd picked up as a way to relax and clear his mind. It wasn't something he was particularly great at—at least, not yet—but he found peace in putting pencil to paper and seeing what came out.
Ise took out a pencil and began lightly sketching across the page, his hand moving in gentle, fluid strokes as a scene started to take form. His mind drifted as he drew, thoughts wandering back to how the day had gone so far. Nothing too eventful—classes were easy enough, and he'd managed to blend in, aside from the occasional flurry of attention from the girls. He even caught glimpses of Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri a few times throughout the day. So, this is the world my brother will soon dive headfirst into.
His pencil paused for a moment as he thought about the future. He knew what was coming—after all, he had a rough idea of the timeline for the major events that were to unfold within the year. The supernatural world would soon collide with their ordinary lives in ways Issei could never have imagined.
At first, Ise mused, I figured I'd just help him along the way. Stay in the background, prevent major catastrophes, and keep Issei from dying too early. After all, he's my brother now, and I want him to live a happy life. He smiled softly at the thought of his brother's goofy grin and carefree nature. Issei was simple, but that simplicity was also what made him endearing.
But as time went on, something had changed.
Ise's gaze drifted upward, watching a few clouds float lazily across the blue sky. It's not just about Issei anymore, he thought. What do I want? What kind of life do I want to live? His thoughts grew deeper as the pencil in his hand resumed its movement, now with more purpose. The events of this world would give him an opportunity, a path to carve out his own destiny. He wasn't just a spectator. He was a part of this world now, and with his own magic awakening, the possibilities were limitless.
Over the past few months, he'd come to terms with his power, practicing in secret whenever he could. He still wasn't sure where his magic came from or how far it would take him, but one thing was clear: he had the potential to make a real difference. He had the chance to shape the course of events, not just as Issei's younger brother but as someone who had their own goals, their own desires.
I know what I want, he thought, his fingers tightening slightly on the pencil as he sketched with renewed focus. I'm going to live my life for me, not just for Issei. I'm going to take what I want, and I won't let anything—or anyone—stand in my way.
Just as Ise's thoughts crystallized, a voice broke through the quiet.
"Are you an artist?"
Ise blinked, snapping out of his reverie. He looked up, and his breath caught in his throat. Standing before him was a towering figure, her shadow casting over him as she leaned in to look at his sketchbook. The first thing he noticed were her... massive mounds, which seemed to defy the very laws of physics as they strained against her school uniform. His eyes traveled upward, over her ample curves, before finally meeting her gaze.
There she was—Sunomiya Sana.
Ise froze.
What?
Let me know what you think :3
