It was snowing at the base. Pokémon were scattered all over the clearing. Some of the Golurk and Beartic here were surrounding the ice walls of the fort in almost a perfect circle, keeping a lookout for any intruders that were near.
For a normal Pokémon, these Golurk and Beartic would've intimidated them out of their skin, and not a single one would dare to try to explore what was even hiding within the base.
But not for a shadowy figure speeding within the forest.
Before the Pokémon hiding in the forest can realize it, a shape sped past them just as fast as he came. Leaving most of them confused on what they just saw, and who sprinted past them.
As the figure came closer, the Golurk and the Beartic noticed him and started firing Shadow Balls and Ice Beams at him. Even though this Pokémon was weak to both Ghost and Ice type moves, he dodged the attacks quickly and jumped out into the moonlight. Revealing his shadow wings, gray and red scales, and golden headdress, all illuminated under the moon.
He landed in front of the Golurk and Beartic and quickly started taking out the ones closest to him who were trying to get rid of him before he entered the base. But he was too strong for them to handle. Once they were out of his way, he created a small purple and black portal that appeared like ink blots out from the ground and jumped in. He then appeared on the other side of the ice wall of the Pokémon base. A small group of Chandelure and Cryogonal came passing by, and before they could see him, he slipped away into the shadows of the base. Perfectly hidden in the darkness and the snow.
Giratina breathed heavily, trying to keep quiet as he observed the base around him. There were a handful of watchtowers scattered around the clearing, with more small groups of various Pokémon patrolling the area. In the center, there were several forts in the base made of large icicle spikes and even some crystals for the walls.
Giratina scanned the forts and set his gaze on one that looked like it was in the middle. Recognizing the large tree inside it.
Now why would Kyurem decide to make a base in Kalos? He thought, observing the tree in that fort and the frozen trees all around them. He had been in this place multiple times when he was much younger, he practically memorized the entire area at this point.
But why would someone decide to make a fort where his friend lived?
He stared back at the forts in the center, trying to figure out which one Xerneas was in. although, they all seemed identical in every way, and almost impossible to tell one apart really.
Well, this shouldn't take too long. Giratina thought. I just explore every single one here.
But even his confidence to be able to find her was still weighed down by his own worry for Xerneas.
He really hoped she was alright.
Giratina knew that there wasn't any time to waste now. He quickly made a black and purple portal in the snow and jumped in, hoping that with his luck, it would lead him to where Xerneas was.
