On the rooftops, Leo was in an intense sparring match with Raph and Don. Leo was blocking Raph and Donnie's attack. Yuuki decided to join in on the match, charging at Leo with her tessun. Leo quickly deflected her attack and knocked Yuuki's weapon out of her hand. Yuuki quickly moved back when Leo tried to throw a kick. She flipped back and caught her weapon as it fell from the air.
"Come on, again! Faster Michelangelo!" Leo shouted. "Michelangelo!" When Leo noticed that Mikey hadn't moved, reading the newspaper. He knocked Donnie's staff out of his hands and kicked Raph in the plastron, knocking the two back. Leo leaped into the air and sliced the newspaper in half.
"Hey!" Mikey shouted. "I was reading that!"
"You're supposed to be training!"
"I was doing mental exercises, you know? Reading! Little symbols on paper, that make words! Words that form sentences!"
"Mikey, didn't you learn anything from your Battle Nexus rematch? We have to ready all the time!" Leo hissed. Mikey placed his hands on Leo's shoulders, smiling.
"Ah, young Leonardo. Remember what Master Splinter said, worry leads to fear, fear leads to anger, and anger leads to worry-No, hold on. Fear leads to anger; anger leads to hate and hate leads to...a dark and moody Leo." He teased. Then something fell from the sky and crashed into the pigeon coop behind Mikey.
"What the shell was that?!" Raph exclaimed. Then two winged humanoids quickly darted out from the crash and flew into the air, fighting each other. One had long blond hair with white wings, wearing black clothes and brown boots. The other short spiky dark hair and a goatee, with black metal wings, wearing armor.
"This ends now, Mefos!" the one with white wings shouted, slamming the black winged one against the edge.
"I think not, Raptar!" the one with black wings shouted. Mefos threw Raptar off of him and slammed his feet into the man's chest and flew up. "Living amongst these things have made you weak!"
"No, my old friend. Living down here as only made me realize that much more. How wrong you have always been!"
Mefos closed his wings together and torpedoed straight down on top of Raptar. Raptar quickly dodged the attack, flying into the air.
"So, who do we help?" Donnie asked.
"The guy in the white? He seems nice." Yuuki pointed out.
"We're gods among insects! You've always refused to see that!" Mefos shouted.
"That guy certainly doesn't sound too friendly." Mikey spoke. The two-winged creatures grabbed each other and Raptar threw Mefos into the water tower, destroying it.
"Maybe we should take them both out." Leo and Raph both replied.
"Man, one turtle with tude is bad enough!" Mikey shook his head.
"Your lack of visual will be your downfall, old friend!" Mefos grabbed Raptar and slammed him against the brick wall.
"Wait a minute, it c-can't be...I don't believe it!" Mikey said, realizing, looking at the sliced newspaper.
"What?" Donnie asked.
"That guy with the wings! He's the guardian angel!"
"Who's the what?" Donnie questioned.
"You should really read the paper once in a while. The guardian angel is all the rage! He's the new superhero in town! A highly secretive good guy that goes around saving people! Right now, he needs my help!" Mikey grinned. "This is so cool!" Mefos landed down, inching closer to Raptar. He stepped down on Raptar's arm, pinning him down and was about to finish him off.
Mikey quickly ran towards them. "Turtle Titan to the rescue!" He kicked Mefos over the edge, sending him plummeting off the building.
"Wait Mikey! We'll give you a hand!" Donnie shouted as he and the others were running over to Mikey to help.
"No need Turtle Titan has everything under control-!" Mefos flew up and slammed into the destroyed part of the brick wall, making Mikey loose his balance. He stumbled and fell off from the ledge.
"Mikey, no!" Raph shouted.
"AW SHELL!" Mikey screamed as he free falling.
"Mikey!" Yuuki shouted. Raptar quickly got up and darted down, heading towards Mikey.
"I'm too young to die!" Mikey cried out.
"I've got you! Don't worry!" Raptar spoke, grabbing Mikey by his leg just as he was inches from the ground. Then Mefos launched a few sharp flying projectiles from above. The group quickly moved back as the objects almost hit them and headed down toward Raptar.
"What the shell?!" Raph exclaimed. Raptar used his wings to block some of them, but one got lodged into his wing. Raptar yelled out in pain, causing him to drop Mikey and the two fell.
"Not again!" Mikey cried out. He quickly tried to grab onto to some clothes hanging on the lines, snapping the lines instead. Raptar fell to the ground and Mikey ended up falling into a dumpster. "Ew, yuck!" Mikey pulled an underwear off his head and hopped out and ran over to the angel. "Are you okay?"
"I-I think so."
"They made it!" Raph shouted.
"Where did the other one go?" Leo wondered. Mefos quickly darted towards the group and they dodged out of his way. He swooped down, fast, heading towards Mikey and Raptar.
"Mikey, look out!' Leo shouted. Mefos slammed into Mikey and Raptar. Mikey crashed into the garbage bin and Raptar was slammed into the wall.
"Mikey!" Leo shouted and jumped down to help. Raph, Donnie and Yuuki jumped down to help.
"Hang on, bro!" Raph shouted. Mefos landed in front of Raptar, who was unconscious, and tore off the headband off from Raptar's head.
"At last, the diadem. You will not need this anymore, Raptar. And now to put a long overdue end to our friendship." Mefos smirked, evilly. Leo quickly jumped over Mefos and kicked off from the wall and slammed into Mefos, knocking him away from Raptar.
"Bring it, fly boy!" Leo growled.
"If you've got the guts!" Raph shouted.
"Foul creatures, go crawl back to whatever swamp vomited you forth! I have what I need for now." They watched Mefos flew off and turned back to Raptar, lying on the ground.
"So, what do we do about this guy?" Raph asked.
Everyone brought the strange man back to the lair. After a few hours, Raptar woke up, seeing everyone looking down at him and Splinter who had been watching over him.
"He's regaining consciousness." Splinter spoke.
"Where am I? T-This place it is an Y'lentius strong hold." Raptar groaned.
"Yeah, that's a long story." Raph replied.
"You're the guy the paper's called the Guardian angel! I've got all the clippings! You're famous!" Mikey grinned.
"You have damaged one of your wings. Do not move." Splinter said and he poke Raptar's injured wing, pressing a pressure point.
"It is much better." Raptar smiled, gratefully, moving his arm and wing a little.
"I simply manipulated pressure points in your shoulder to redirect the flow of chi in your wing" Splinted explained.
"Thank you, I-Mefous!" Raptar's eyes widen when he felt his forehead. "The diadem! Where is it!?"
"Uh, if you mean your headband, that guy with the metal wings took it." Donnie spoke.
"NO! It will spell the downfall of my people! With it Mefous will spark a new civil war. Countless innocent lives will perish!"
"Don't sweat it, Mr. Guardian Angel, sir! We'll just kick tin wings butt and get your diadem thingy back!" Mikey said.
"I cannot ask you to help. I am already in your debt. And where I come from that is no small thing."
"And you saved Mikey we take that pretty seriously too. We'll help you but we need to know everything." Leo spoke.
"Very well. My name is Raptar and I am an avian." Raptar began to tell his story.
"I knew it!"
"Donnie, don't interrupt!" Venus shushed him and Raptar continued.
"We were a race of beings created as slaves by the ancient Y'lentians many eons ago. Y'Lentia was a world of wonders through the limitless power of their crystal sun the Y'lentians have built a utopian society far ahead of its time. But it had its dark side. We avians were treated like animals by our cruel Y'lentian task masters. We were worked like slaves to build their paradise and forced to live apart in a floating cage. So, we would not befoul their precious city with our inferior presence. Then one day there was war. The outside world have had enough of Y'lentius iron crystal rule. And so, the slaves of Y'lentius united against our cruel slave masters! A rebellion raged. Irony of ironies, it was our bird cage prison in the end saved us all. My ancestors managed to free it from its tether as Y'lentius finally sank beneath the waves. Salvaging precious fragments of the Y'lentius crystal sun, the avians combined the shards into an incredibly powerful energy core. Powerful enough to keep our floating area locked forever. Their prison has been transformed into a home. My people were free.
For centuries, we avians have kept ourselves cut off from the outside world. But those who believed that we were destined to rule over the surface world, not to hide from it. The leader of this movement was my best friend and comrade, Mefous. He led his followers into a revolt, avian against avian, brother against brother. The war ended and Mefous was captured. For his crimes against our people, the avian council sentenced Mefous to be exiled with the surface world for all times. His wings taken from him. I stayed on the surface world to watch Mefous and stop his attempts to return to the avian city. Living her in your world, I have learned much. I have been able to help those in need. And I have stopped Mefous' plans several times. But now, with my diadem, he will be able to find the avian city and to it unopposed the surface world is doomed! Imagine a floating city can only be detected by the crystal diadem. The immense power of the crystal energy core makes the avian city an unspeakable weapon of mass destruction! And soon it will be under Mefous' command!"
"Donnie, are we going or what?!" Mikey asked. Donnie quickly took everyone over to a lab table that had something covered.
"We're going. Prepare to be amazed!" Donnie smiled, pulling off the cover, revealing some packs.
"Tech pack thingys?" Mikey asked.
"What's so amazing about that, hotshot?" Raph asked.
"Why how kind of you to ask. Just watch and be amazed!" Donnie pushed a button and wings sprouted out from the pack.
"Cool!" Mikey exclaimed, excited.
"I've working on an upgraded version of the tech pack that can fly."
"But we still have a problem. Without the crystal diadem we won't be able to find the city." Leo spoke.
"But your home is an Y'lentian outpost. Surely there must be Y'lentian power crystals here." Raptar answered.
"Uh, we kind of used them all to help some of our friends." Mikey told him.
"It's a really long story." Donnie spoke.
"What of the memory crystal?" Raptar asked and he walked over to a column, searching for something. "Let us see. Here." and he traced over a carving on the column, and it began to light up as well as the whole lair. The ceiling above the lair opened and Raptar flew up and held out some crystals. "It is still here. These will do!"
"Where did that come from!?" Raph exclaimed in shock.
"I thought I scanned the whole lair from top to bottom for crystals. How?" Donnie asked. Raptar shrugged his shoulders.
"It's an avian thing."
"So, are you guys coming as well?" Yuuki asked, Venus, Mona and Alopex and D.
"I'm not much of a flier." D spoke.
"I want to stay here and look after Elizabeth." Mona replied.
"I prefer my feet on the ground." Alopex answered.
"I'm going to help them look after the babies." Venus replied.
The turtles and Yuuki went to the roof top with Splinter and Raptar. Each of the turtles had tech packs strapped to them matching the colors of their headbands while Yuuki was wearing silver. Venus and Splinter were standing in front of them to see them off.
"Your hospitality has been most cherished. Thank you, Splinter." Raptar thanked Splinter.
"Be careful, my children."
"Piece of cake, sensei! Things are safe right, Donnie? You've tested them?" Mikey asked.
"Uh, not exactly." Donnie smiled, hesitantly.
"Then this will have to be the test flight!" Leo jumped off from the building and flew off.
"Leo wait up!" Raph shouted flew off after him. The others followed them as Raptar leaded them to the avian home.
"Remember the plan. Mefous entire focus should be his undoing." Raptar told them as they continued to fly.
"One question, are we there yet?" Mikey asked. The crystal the Raptar was holding suddenly began to glow.
"Actually, yes."
"Wow." Mikey gaped in awe.
"You said it, Mikey." Donnie murmured. In front of them, floating the sky was a large circular ship with a ring around it, holding a large city inside the sphere. As they landed, they saw Mefos inside standing in front of a beam of light and a console. Several of his followers were holding some elder avians captive.
"We should destroy one of the surface crawlers cities. Lets say Seattle." Mefos smirked, evilly.
"I think not Mefous." Raptar shouted.
"Remember us? Well, now we've got wings!" Mikey grinned.
"Destroy them!" Mefous ordered and his followers flew at the group. Two went after Leo who blocked them with his swords. Leo quickly flew up and darted down and sliced their spears, cutting the tips of them. One came after Yuuki who blocked it with her tessun. She knocked the spear out of the avian's hand and kicked them in the chest and the fell to the ground. Two chased after Mikey as he flew around the room. Mikey used his nunchucks to lasso onto them and he flipped the two avians over sending them crashing to the ground. Raph was struggling to hold off three as they attacked him. Leo and Donnie quickly jumped in and knocked them away from Raph.
"Turtle from above!" Mikey shouted and he slammed into one from behind. The avian fell to the ground with a thud. "Wow, we're out avian the avians!"
Raptar and Mefos began to clash with each other.
"You could still join me Raptar. What titans we could be? With the power of the crystal, we could be lords of land and sky!"
"Join with you? You are mad! You'll lose more than your wings this time Mefous!"
Mefos began to throw and slam Raptar around like a rag doll and he fell to the floor.
"You'll have to perish. I see that wing just doesn't have time to heal, has it?" Mefos slammed his elbow into Raptar's injured wing. Raptar yelled out in pain and Mefos flipped him over his shoulder, tossing Raptar on the floor. "This was your big plan, Raptar? Fly in here to be defeated by me. Pathetic!"
"Actually, the plan was that I distract you long enough to allow my friends time to take the key crystal and it seems to have worked!" Raptar smirked. Mefos eyes widen in shock, and he quickly turned to see the turtles and Yuuki behind him. Raph held up the crystal grinning.
"Looky what we've got?" He taunted.
"You dirty surface creatures dare to befoul the sacred crystal key by touching it!? I will destroy you all!" Mefos charged at them and the five began to toss the crystal to each other, keeping it away from Mefos. Yuuki caught it was Leo tossed it to her and quickly threw it to Mikey.
"You really want it? It's right here!" Mikey shouted in a sing songy voice. "Hurry! I'm befouling it by touching it! Lots of befouling going on over here!" Mikey tossed the crystal back and forth in the air catching it. Mefos quickly darted towards Mikey to grab it. "You want it so bad? Then fetch it!" Mikey threw the crystal closer towards the beam.
"I must have the key crystal!" Mefos caught it only to realize that he was too close to the beam. His eyes widen in horror, and he tried to pull away from the beam, but it pulled him in. "What? No! I'm too close! Too close! Noo!" He got zapped. Mefos groaned and fell to the floor, unconscious. One of the elders grabbed the crystal when Mefos dropped it and placed it back in the console, stabilizing the beam. Mefos was placed on locked down in prison kept on constant watch. Later that evening, Raptar and several of the avian elders were standing on the rim of the floating city, thanking the turtles and Yuuki.
"Thank you for your help. You have saved our city." Raptar spoke.
"We owe you a great debt of gratitude." one of the avians replied.
"You know, maybe someday our worlds could, you know, coexist." Donnie said.
"Perhaps. Until then I trust the secret of our existence will remain safe with you." Raptar smiled.
"You have our word." Leo nodded.
"I only have one request!" Mikey grinned.
"Name it." Raptar pulled out a camera, handing it to Yuuki. She blinked looking at him confused.
"Somebody take my picture with Raptar!"
"Why? Are you going to sell it to the weekly weird news?" Donnie asked.
"Nah, it's for my superhero team up scrap book! Why? How much do you think they'd give me for it?" Mikey asked.
"With you in the picture, a nickel, maybe less." Raph joked.
