Space. A presumed infinite. Within the endless blackness, there are countless celestial bodies. Most are balls of ignited gas commonly referred to as stars. The remainder consists of planets, each with a unique array of life whose evolution depends on the environment.
Amidst this unknowable amount of worlds, there exists one that is endlessly hostile. Nearly no vegetation exists. Any wildlife is ferocious and strong. The weather, when not a constant sandstorm, is freezing. The landscape mainly consists of jagged landmasses jutting from the ground. If one were to say this was Hell, they wouldn't be faulted for the claim.
Yet, somehow, a species of higher intelligence evolved in this inhospitable wasteland. Through their efforts and constant adaptation, they became powerful not just in strength but in other ways as well. Cycloptic bipedal creatures with light blue skin and transformative capabilities. Truly, a miraculous race of organisms.
No society ever formed for this species. They were content spending their lives improving themselves and asserting dominance through sheer force. Eventually, one member of their kind looked beyond the dust-filled sky and at the stars that shined on the horizon. Boros was her name. She vowed to conquer everything in the universe.
With every year that passed, Boros grew. Her strength, power, and physique were refined to their maximum potential. There were no longer any within her world that could challenge her. So, she then left her planet and began her conquest.
At first, when Boros started traveling to new worlds, there was much fun to be had. Every species was interesting. Not one fought the same as another nor had similar biological weapons and tactics. This is what Boros had hoped for. This is what she craved. Violence. Destruction. It made her heart beat in her chest, and a grin form on her features.
Then, one day, Boros met someone who would become the first member of her eventual crew. Geryuganshoop. A blue octopus-like creature with psychic abilities equal to a black hole's power. Additionally, he was remarkably intelligent and suggested to Boros that she make better use of herself. In short, assert her position as Dominator of the Universe.
This idea excited Boros. Something to keep in mind for later. With Geryuganshoop at her side, the formation of the Black Matter Thieves was underway. The next recruits, who were as impressive as Geryuganshoop, would make her trio of elites. They'd manage the crew as it continued to expand.
Melzargard. A shapeshifting entity capable of creating multiple identities for itself. Groribas. A bipedal plant creature that can survive in any environment and can produce toxins, acidic compounds, and other naturally-produced agents. Together, along with Geryuganshoop, they were only surpassed by their leader. This trio could easily conquer the universe but were happy to do so in the name of their new mistress.
The rest of this story is rather uneventful. Well, I suppose that's not accurate. There were many battles, but they ended quickly. There were many explosions and other awesome things, but they were brief. Even without her elites and ever-growing crew, the Black Matter Thieves' leader, Lady Boros, was an unstoppable force of nature. Honestly, she could be considered an all-powerful Goddess.
...So...remember how I mentioned this was all exciting at first? Infinite planets. Endless fighters. So much violence and carnage. Well, as it turns out, there IS too much of a good thing.
Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Win. Annoying, isn't it? YES. IT IS. That's what Boros thought, too. So. Many. Victories. Each one was easier than the last. Sadly, it wasn't because of the Black Matter Thieves or her elites. If those were the issue, Boros would've started fighting solo.
The problem lay with her. Boros never stopped getting stronger. It was in her GENES. Always evolving. Always improving. Even when she barely lifted a single finger. There was no end to her growth.
However, there was ONE way to prevent it. Do nothing. Sit atop a throne and let the crew handle everything. You'd think Boros would never choose this option because it'd be boring as Hell. But, in fairness, so was the fighting. At least with this, she could keep from getting more obscenely strong.
Still, it wasn't a solution. As time passed, Boros became less active. She rarely left either her throne or her quarters. During this, her elites felt a worry that only worsened with each day that passed. This wasn't their mistress. The boisterous woman of ambition and passion was becoming a memory.
So, as it was their duty and desire, Geryuganshoop, Melzargard, and Groribas set out to find a way to help their lady. They went about this by searching for potential worthy combatants or something that could, in a sense, sap her strength when she desired to make fighting challenging again. Alas, the trio came up with no results. This forced them to consider "other" alternatives.
Rumors whispered among the stars of ancient beings who preceded the light that filled the void known as space. They possessed powers that, while not equal to Boros, were extraordinary for other reasons. One such eluded ability was to see through reality to find any answer that was sought.
After convincing their mistress that this was worth pursuing, the trio took Boros to the farthest known edge of the universe. A place where no planets resided in a star's orbit. The only light source came from the cosmos and the energy that floated formlessly in them. Yet, amidst it all, there was a series of islands. Residing at the center was the person they came for.
"Do you sense him?" Boros asked Geryuganshoop as they left their ship. The Dominator of the Universe was a LARGE woman, to put it bluntly. Standing at seven-foot-ten, she wasn't a person to be ignored. Adorning her body was beautifully crafted golden armor that fit her muscular build very well, perfectly showcasing the powerful muscles across her physique. As previously mentioned, her skin was a light blue, and a single massive eye rested at the center of her face. The only other detail worth mentioning was her spikey pink hair. Overall, Lady Boros was as breathtaking as she was powerful.
"I do, m'lady," Geryuganshoop confirmed with a nod as he floated beside her. The body of the octopus-like entity was dark blue. His eyes and mouth, which were little more than circles, glowed with white light. Additionally, his body possessed a quality that made him seem celestial. Almost as if he were made of stars.
"And are we sure this supposed seer is real? He's not an elderly hermit with mental issues?" Boros pressed.
"We confirmed it with multiple sources, mam. Anyone is welcome here to seek his guidance. All who have were given nothing but the truth. If he's a con man, he's terrible at it." Groribas replied. The hands and head of the bipedal plant resembled that of carnivorous flora. Despite having no eyes or other such features, he wasn't inconvenienced. He could go about his duties and everyday life without complications or problems.
"Well done." Boros praised them. "Although, I should expect no less from any of you." She added.
"We live only to serve, m'lady." "We are your chosen." "We will do all that we can to better your life." "This is our purpose." "That is good." The five heads of Melzargard spoke. So far, that was the number of identities the creature had created. A feat that impressed its mistress.
"Thank you," Boros responded as she looked at the ground beneath them. Due to this location's fragmented status, they'd occasionally leap to another floating land mass. "I...still feel bad about this. You three shouldn't be burdened with my issues." She confessed.
"Don't be! It is our pleasure and privilege. We want you to be happy. These last few centuries have yielded only more profits and power over the universe. We can no longer stand by as your condition worsens. We'll do everything we can to help you regain yourself." Geryuganshoop told her.
Hearing that brought a smile to Boros's stoic face. However, like any that managed to manifest, it was small and lasted briefly. Hopefully, this seer could finally aid her. She desperately longed for any true feelings. Boros's people didn't carea bout or acknowledge their emotions much. She could've never known how badly she'd missed them as they started to vanish.
A few more leaps and steps later, the group of four reached their destination. Seated at the center of this motionless archipelago was a MASSIVE entity. It was, at minimum, three times Boros's size. However, she could easily kill it. That awareness stung worse than any pain she had ever felt.
The being was cloaked in tattered robes. Some might mistake it for the image of death. Its face was one of the few parts not concealed. A mass of tendrils surrounding multiple eyes that lacked pupils. Many would call this creature an "Eldritch".
"Seer!" Boros called as they approached. "We have come seeking your guidance!" She exclaimed, wasting no time.
"Do you think me simple?" The entity inquired, yet not in a disrespectful or offended tone. "One does not travel here for simple direction. They do not come here for items. None arrive with the expectation of service. Everyone wants vision." It told her.
"Hmph, fair." Boros said. She and her elites stopped a few feet away from the entity. "But does that imply you already know my reason? Do I waste time by reciting it?" She asked.
"My eyes see all. Past. Present. Future. No distance is too great. No realm escapes their gaze. I've observed your conquest. I've noticed your decline. I watched you travel. A few seconds is all I need. Allow me this much, and you'll have what you desire." It answered.
Silence. Neither Boros nor her elites responded. They observed the entity pull a transparent sphere out from within its cloak.
"This focuses all of my eyes. A single point for their power. You yearn for meaning in life. Why bother existing if death is more appealing? Is that all that remains for you? Has this universe served its purpose?" It spoke.
Still, no one said anything. They continued to observe the creature.
"...Ah...a fresh world. Its life is new. Culture is beginning. Civilization developing. Powers surfacing. You could kill them all. You could destroy their planet with no effort. Why then? What reason is it that I see this? Something is here. Something unexpected. Is it an accident? Purposeful? Intended evolution? Hmm...yes. I've found it. The source. Come closer. Look into the sphere. You will see it." It stated.
Obeying its command, Boros approached the sphere. When she was inches away, she stared unblinkingly into it. At first, she only saw the hand that held the object. But then, Boros noticed something was forming.
A rough shape. Soon, a silhouette. Then colors appeared. An identity emerged. At last, a clear picture. It was...it was...it was...
"...A...man?..." Boros guessed with noticeable confusion. "I...don't recognize the species. What is he?" She asked.
"Human. Earth is his home. Far from here, the other side of the universe. This man is your destiny. But only if you choose to accept it. Do you want to fight? To feel alive? To be happy? Go. Find him. He is the only one." It answered.
Boros remained where she was for a few seconds and continued staring at the image. This unknown man was it? The solution to her problem? The hope she had long sought? Huh.
Boros had no expectations of what she'd receive from the seer. However, with a flawless record, much like hers, there wasn't any room for doubt. This seer told no lies. It was not a trickster. So, as it said, Boros had to choose if she'd accept this destiny or not.
"...Thank you," Boros said in gratitude, followed by a bow. "I will ensure you are compensated for your gift." She vowed.
"No need. Creation is everything. I witness it all. I do not need possessions. All I ask is for continued peace." It replied.
"Even so, I do not leave my debts unpaid. I shall return and reward you once my business with that man is finished." Boros asserted, not taking no for an answer. "Geryuganshoop. Melzargard. Groribas. Get everything ready for immediate departure. We cannot waste any time. Earth is our destination. If we do not have it in our guidance system, begin the search. Or, as the seer said, travel to the opposite end of the universe." She ordered while straightening herself.
"Yes, m'lady." The trio responded in unison. Each of them bowed like she had to show their respect.
With that, their business here was through. Boros, her elites, and the Black Matter Thieves would head for Earth. As for the seer, he let loose a dry chuckle as their ship left his domain.
"A most entertaining vision. I have not felt such excitement. Is she fully prepared? Is her mind imaginative? Does she expect what has never been experienced? We'll see." It said to itself, waiting for the show to begin.
