The Sorcerer Hero: Deku

Chapter five: Revelations and Revenue

"To begin with," Ainz began as he addressed Revy, Agari, Chocho, and Rem, "I'd like to discuss the healing quirks that Ms. Toyoguchi and Ms. Fujii have respectively."

Revy and Agari both perked up. "Our healing quirks, Lord Ainz?" Agari asked.

The Sorcerer King nodded once in the affirmative. "Yes, Ms. Fujii. From what I gleamed about your quirk, it's an emitter type called Fat Doctor, and it lets you heal the physical injuries of whoever you target, either yourself or a person you maintain physical contact with while it's in use. Similarly, the quirk Ms. Toyoguchi has, Ailment Relief, is also an emitter type that cures all of the ailments that the target has, with the target either being the user or another person the user maintains physical contact with while it's in use."

Revy nodded once in confirmation. "Yes, you got the gist of how my quirk works, Lord Ainz." Agari said that Ainz also got the details of her quirk right.

"I was wondering if there are any finer details I ought to be made aware of," Ainz said, "If so, I'll need you to fill me and my men Sebas and Demiurge on said details." Rem took note of how the person identified as Demiurge took out a small notepad and a pen. "Ms. Toyoguchi, you go first," Ainz said while gesturing to Revy.

"Well, my quirk uses my stamina as a fuel source when I use it," Revy began, "If I use it enough without rest, I'll get tired, like I had put in a long and vigorous work out. I'll be fine again after I get enough rest. Also, my quirk can't let me cure really extreme issues like cancer and various chronic illnesses, although I felt the few times I tried to do so anyway that I was making progress, just not enough before my stamina empties out."

After Demiurge finished writing down the notes on Ailment Relief, Ainz let out a contemplative hum. "Hmm, so you can't cure extreme illnesses, but you felt like when you tried that you were making at least some progress before getting too tired to continue. Perhaps doing something to increase your stamina can help you overcome the current limits you face." Turning to face Agari, Ainz said, "Now you go, Ms. Fujii."

"My quirk uses my excess fat as a fuel source," Agari said, "Converting it into energy to heal physical injuries. So long as I have the fat for it, I can heal any physical injury. I've healed cuts, stab wounds, broken bones, and on one occasion I regenerated a severed pinky finger. The worse the injury I'm healing, the more of my fat that my quirk uses up. If I run out of excess fat, then I can't use my quirk until I put some weight back on. It's why I like to maintain a very fattening diet."

Ainz once again permitted Demiurge to finish writing down notes before speaking. "So you need to keep yourself fat in order to make use of your healing quirk," Ainz said, "There are some food items available in the commissary where my men here and I come from that could help you. One of those items is a shake that is favored by one of my battle maids." At least two of the ladies wanted to ask if their new boss was serious about having battle maids, but they feared speaking out of turn.

Turning to look at Chocho, Ainz said, "Speaking of living large, you're up next, Ms. Buwubara."

"My quirk just makes me super strong and resilient against all manner of physical assault," Chocho said dejectedly, "I don't know what's so special about it, or what's so special about a big fat hippo like me who makes even Agari look slender by comparison."

"I was able to get the full details on your quirk when I checked you, Ms. Buwubara," Ainz replied, "And I believe you may be surprised to learn that the reason why you're as fat as you are is because your quirk is making you that way."

Chocho perked up out of surprise. "I'm fat because of my quirk?"

The Sorcerer King nodded once in the affirmative. "Indeed, Ms. Buwubara," Ainz began, "Your quirk's real name, if you aren't aware of it, is Stout Strength. It's an emitter type that makes you super fat, but in return grants you super strength and invulnerability, both having a direct positive proportional relation to how much you weigh. The more you weigh, the stronger and more resilient you are, and you can gain weight in addition to what your quirk grants you to raise your strength and resilience." Leaning forward, Ainz said, "But it's the last aspect of Stout Strength that caught my eye."

Chocho was surprised to find that her quirk is why she's fat, which explains why she's been literally incapable of losing weight all her life. She was also surprised to learn her quirk's real name, and that it apparently has a secret aspect that went unknown until Ainz saw it when he scanned her with his powers. "My quirk has a secret aspect?" Chocho asked, "What is it?"

"It protects you from ever developing or suffering any health problems commonly associated with being fat," Ainz explained, "You'll never suffer or develop any cardiovascular issues, diabetes will be an impossibility, even certain kinds of cancers are off the table. Despite being fat, it poses no risk to your health at all. It is that aspect of Stout Strength that interests me, as I'm wanting to study it and see if I can somehow convert it into a medicine that keeps away all fat related health problems like how the quirk does."

"A medicine that keeps away all fat related health problems?" Chocho repeated.

"Let me ask you girls a question," Ainz began as he leaned back in his seat, "How popular would such a medicine be among humans?"

"Very popular, Lord Ainz," Revy replied instantly, "Especially in countries with high obesity rates such as the United States. It could net the Shie Hassaikai a lot of money, especially if it can be marketed overseas."

"And now you see why Stout Strength piques my interest so much," Ainz replied, "If my research proves fortuitous, then the Shie Hassaikai will earn a lot of money."

Nodding once, Rem said, "Considering what Mr. Kurono had complained about Chisaki's plans being a money sink, I think the Shie Hassaikai under Chisaki was spending money faster than it was able to earn it."

"Mr. Chisaki's money sink is being discontinued," Ainz informed the ladies, "And not just because it's a money sink." Ainz wasn't sure if the ladies before him were aware of what that smug jackass Overhaul was doing with Eri, but either way they'll eventually learn. "Under my authority," Ainz went on, "The Shie Hassaikai will be focusing on building up wealth and resources, as well as looking to recruit more members for the rank and file."

"So you aren't going to..." Rem began, looking like she was wondering if she recalled something correctly, "...Wipe out quirks? I think that's what I heard Mr. Setsuno say Chisaki was up to."

"I intend to study quirks," Ainz said, "Which I can't very well do if they're destroyed. When new rank and file members for the Shie Hassaikai are scouted, a premium will be paid if those with healing quirks or those whose quirks have protective qualities like what Ms. Buwubara's quirk has can be brought in."

The ladies all looked excited at that prospect. After the ladies settled themselves down, Rem turned to look at Chocho before turning to look back at Ainz. "So the reason my girlfriend is as big as she is beautiful is because her quirk is making her that way," Rem began.

"Yes, and something similar can be said about you and your quirk, Ms. Anisawa," Ainz replied, "As it's the reason you're as thin as you are."

Rem's eyes widened... a lot actually... out of surprise. "My quirk is making me thin?!" Rem asked, her tone almost loud enough to be exclaiming, "I thought that all my quirk did was let me slip through cracks on one side and out onto the other side no matter how narrow the crack!"

"Your quirk is a bit more complicated than that, Ms. Anisawa," Ainz replied, "Firstly, its true name if you aren't aware is Noodle Body. It's a transformation type that, as you said, lets you slip through any crack no matter how narrow, by flattening your body enough to slip through. But in return your quirk makes you super thin, but it does keep you from becoming thin enough for it to be a danger to your health and well being."

"So that explains why I've been having trouble gaining weight," Rem said, "I've always been a bean pole and it worried my folks."

Ainz let out a contemplative hum. "...There's something I want to try, an experiment to further my research and study into quirks. But I will first be needing to borrow the respective quirks of you Ms. Anisawa and your girlfriend Ms. Buwubara."

All four of the ladies looked confused. "You want to borrow Chocho's and Rem's quirks?" Revy asked, "How would that even work?"

"Lord Ainz can do all manner of fantastical things that humans such as yourselves could not even dream of," Demiurge spoke up, "It is never wise to underestimate Lord Ainz."

"We would never underestimate him," Revy replied, "Especially given what he did to Chisaki. I was just expressing confusion on him saying he was going to borrow quirks."

"Understandable," Ainz said, "I don't blame you or have any issue with what you expressed. Now, you ladies may be a bit surprised in a second." Before the ladies could even blink, Ainz cast Time Stop to freeze time. Ainz himself was able to move freely, as well as Demiurge and Sebas who were given the means to protect them in case anyone tried chronomancy against them. Getting up from where he sat, Ainz walked up to the ladies.

"Now to borrow the respective quirks of Ms. Buwubara and Ms. Anisawa," Ainz said as he used Harvest Quirk on both Chocho and Rem, obtaining Quirk Jewels containing Stout Strength and Noodle Body. Ainz also took the time to use Duplicate Quirk to make another Quirk Jewel that held the Stout Strength Quirk, sacrificing one of the Quirk Jewels taken from a peon raised as a Death Knight; the sacrificed quirk was a mutation type that merely turned the user's head into a cactus and offered nothing else.

After pocketing the extra Stout Strength Quirk Jewel, Ainz released the Time Stop, allowing time to flow normally again. The ladies also saw it as Chocho instantly and quickly began slimming down, like she was a balloon that had been popped. Similarly, Rem inflated but only until she was as full as Revy. Rem was still thin, but much less so than before.

Chocho's clothes were now much more loose, and she acted to quickly grab the waist of her sweats before her sweats dropped, readjusting the pull strings to keep them up. Similarly, Rem's clothing became a bit tighter because she had gained weight, despite still being thin. The ladies were also surprised to see that Ainz was now standing right in front of them.

"Ah, so this is what you ladies look like when you don't have quirks making your bodies be a certain way," Ainz remarked. The Sorcerer King had Demiurge make a note of the change in Chocho and Rem.

"Wait, are they quirkless now?" Agari asked.

"For the time being, yes, they are quirkless," Ainz answered, "But I intend to give them new quirks. Now, I have two quirks, called Fey Fire and Fey Ice, that I believe would be an excellent pair for you two girls to have."

The two girls perked up at that. "Sounds fair," Chocho replied, with Rem nodding in agreement. Ainz then used Bestow Quirk to give Fey Fire to Chocho and Fey Ice to Rem; he let them choose who gets which one.

As Chocho and Rem tested their new quirks out, Rem while holding purple ice asked, "What will you do with our original quirks?"

"Study them," Ainz replied, "Especially the one I took from Ms. Buwubara as I want to isolate the aspect that protects against fat related health problems. In fact I've already duplicated the quirk I took from Ms. Buwubara."

"You can duplicate quirks?" Chocho asked, looking surprised.

"I can, but only do so for quirks that pique my interest," Ainz replied. The Sorcerer King checked the time, saw he still had some time before Izuku's mom woke up. But he had to wrap up things here anyway. "I shall be taking off for now, but I will return later to go over finer details on how things will be done around here. I've already instructed Mr. Kurono to run things in the absence of me or an appointed overseer. You ladies are dismissed."

The ladies all took off, with Chocho and Rem happy with their sudden transformations and new quirks. After the ladies left and closed the door behind them, Ainz locked it. Turning back to face Demiurge and Sebas, Ainz said, "Let's return to Nazarick. I've got things to store away, as well as how we need to make copies of the notes Demiurge took."

"I would love nothing more, Lord Ainz," Demiurge said, "Home does sound nice right about now." After casting Portal to Nazarick, Ainz and his loyal followers returned to the Great Tomb, to go over what all they've gotten.

Demiurge was at first confused why Ainz was interested in developing a medicine for humans that keeps at bay all fat related health problems. But then when it was explained that such a medicine would be very popular among the humans and how it'd net Ainz's operations in the second New World a lot of money, the Archdevil's confusion was cleared, especially since medicines for humans in the second New World can be fairly pricy.

Ainz stored the extra Stout Strength Quirk Jewel away in his personal bedroom in Nazarick, in a chest that acted as a safe deposit box slash bank slash storage of sorts. He kept one of each Quirk Jewel he had on hand, just to be safe. He was also going to have to keep an eye out for quirks that he'd be willing to sacrifice for the Duplicate Quirk spell. Ainz then copied what notes Demiurge took to his personal notes on quirks.

With all other business handled, Ainz returned to the second New World, appearing in Izuku's bedroom. Ainz dropped the illusion spell he had up so he looked like Izuku again, and checked the time. He had a little over an hour before Inko was going to wake up, so Ainz got into Izuku's bed and laid there, thinking about what to do next for his goals of taking over the second New World, as well as honoring Izuku by making his name synonymous with the term pro hero.

Shifting through the memories he inherited from Izuku, Ainz learned that those wishing to be pro heroes had to enroll in hero courses at special high schools set up to teach, among other things, how to be pro heroes. Graduating from the hero course of such a high school grants one a Pro Hero license, which lets them legally do hero work. Ainz figured that he'd have to get into one such high school and get into their hero course.

A problem arises, though; everyone knows Izuku Midoriya to be quirkless. Ainz technically is also quirkless, and it's impossible for him to get a quirk due to being an inhuman. But Ainz is a level one-hundred Overlord, with magic and mana that exceeds limits, and more than seven-hundred spells at his undead fingertips. His power would very easily allow him to enter his choice in high school that had a hero course.

Ainz, learning from Izuku's memories, got it that the top hero high school in Japan was called U.A. High School. It's the high school that many distinguished pro heroes, including that dream crushing turd All Might, graduated from. Ainz decided on U.A. as the hero high school that he'd get into, even more so since Izuku wanted to go there despite being quirkless. The Sorcerer King did want to do what he could to thank Izuku for his sacrifice.

Making Izuku's dreams come true would be just the tip of the iceberg. But first he had to establish a way to give Izuku the credibility he'd need to get in. No one would sponsor a confirmed quirkless boy to enter a hero high school, much less the top one in the nation. Ainz would first set up a way to have Izuku be sponsored. After that, Ainz would have to set up a way to show that Izuku has the power needed to stand shoulder to shoulder with others in a hero high school.

Once that incident is taken care of, Ainz's set up sponsor will get into contact with the Midoriya household and offer to sponsor Izuku to get into a hero high school, even offering to help him get into U.A. if that's what Izuku wants. Which he will as Ainz is Izuku now. The rest will come in time, but the Sorcerer King has loads and loads of time on his undead hands. He's no stranger to playing the long game if need be.

Two days after Ainz took over the Shie Hassaikai, his loyal followers had already shown progress in achieving his stated mission statement. All doses of Restoring Serum and Destroying Drug were located and brought in. For now they were kept for the intention of being studied, but once Ainz got all he could he'd begin destroying them, starting with the Destroying Drugs. Ainz wanted to erase the evil made from torturing a little girl off the face of the second New World.

Second, the increased focus on the Trigger trade helped up the Shie Hassaikai's level of wealth. That, and stealthy crimes to get even more income helped to fatten the coffers of Ainz's foothold in the second New World. Kurono was quite pleased to see that already there was a notable increase in how much wealth the Shie Hassaikai now had in its pocketbook. It made him feel all the more at ease and glad that Ainz was the one who was now running the show now.

Enough profit was being made from the refocused efforts of the Shie Hassaikai to allow for Ainz to begin the next part of the plan to boost his wealth and resources in the second New World; buy up store fronts with the intent to earn money in an open and legal way, as well as give him a means to launder money of the ill gotten gains type if need be. It also gave his illegal actions a legal face to hide behind, as well as a means for his less thug like human peons to pull their weight.

He bought a few store fronts in choice areas of the same city that U.A. was located in, and had them made into places that high school students, hero high school or otherwise, would naturally be interested in going to. This would be a lure for U.A. students, thus giving Ainz a chance to passively learn about what U.A. is like before he goes there as Izuku. Ainz had even made careful choices on what kind of stores to set up, and in which specific storefronts to set them up in.

A game store that specialized in various games but sort of mainly in TCGs was set up in a bought storefront located near fast food places, as the Sorcerer King knew from personal experience that gamers wouldn't want to have to travel far for food if they could help it. And it had turned out that allowing outside food made 'The Forty-One' one of the most popular stores of its kind as other such stores were far more restrictive when it came to the matter of outside food.

A music store was set up in a storefront where it'd be the only music store around for miles, and it was located more or less across the street from U.A. Ainz knew that teens liked music, so it'd be a good lure to bring them in, especially when he offered U.A. students in the school's hero course who had at least their provisional license a discount at the music store. This courtesy was shown at all storefronts that were located within reasonable range of Japan's top hero high school.

A few more kinds of stores that Ainz knew would appeal to high school students were set up in the remaining storefronts that he bought up, as he was hoping to gather information on what U.A. was like. The process of setting things up was easy, as Ainz had men in the second New World who were ready and willing to work. However, cleaning up and repairing some damage in the storefronts, as well as general construction work to get things up to code, was outside of Ainz's hands.

Luckily for the Sorcerer King, he found a cheap option that would get all of his storefronts up to code. A construction company called Uraraka Construction, they had a reputation for good, high quality work because they unlike others in their field took time on their work. The reason Uraraka Construction was so cheap to hire was because they weren't exactly wanted due to the fact that they took time on their work because they sort of had to take time on their work.

It turned out that other construction companies were more popular due to being faster as they had the means to simply quirk the job done. Uraraka Construction did not have the means to quirk the job done, as such they took more time. Although this allowed for more careful and secure work, clients wanted things hot and fresh, they wanted things right away. Haste and impatience on part of potential clients made Uraraka Construction a rather unpopular opinion to turn to.

But Ainz, working on a budget and having no qualms with waiting, especially as he wanted a quality job done on his properties, viewed Uraraka Construction as a lifesaver. Ainz, using illusion magic to pose as his original true self of Satoru Suzuki, identified himself as Mr. Suzuki to Mr. Uraraka, who headed Uraraka Construction with his wife. They had a small assortment of workers working for the small company they had, but it was something at least.

The Urarakas were floored when Mr. Suzuki not only told them what he'd bought up, but that he was hiring their company to work on getting all that he bought up ready to be used for his business ventures. That was a total of a dozen storefronts. It was minor to low end medium construction work sure, but it was a lot of it. They would be making some serious money from this, and it would grant their small construction company a much needed bit of relief from financial worries.

Mr. Suzuki's only instructions to Uraraka Construction were that he wanted the storefronts located closest to U.A. High School to be given priority. "U.A. High School?" Mr. Uraraka said in a tone of mild surprise as he and Mrs. Uraraka met with Ainz, "My wife and I have a daughter intending to get into U.A.'s hero course, Mr. Suzuki."

Ainz's interest was piqued by that. "You have a daughter seeking to get into U.A.'s hero course?"

"Oh yes, Mr. Suzuki," Mrs. Uraraka said, "Her name is Ochaco. I just know that she'll do well! But then again I may be biased as I'm a mother."

"No, no, it's a perfectly natural response," Ainz replied. This girl, Ochaco Uraraka, may be valuable to Ainz's plans by virtue of having the same goal that Izuku will have. Ochaco's is a name that the Sorcerer King will have to make note of. Ainz wanted to know more about Ochaco as a person, but he can't ask more right now due to lacking a sufficient excuse to do so without coming off as being suspicious, so he had to bide his time. Maybe after 'Mr. Suzuki' starts sponsoring Izuku.

Uraraka Construction got to work on the storefronts that Ainz bought up, focusing first on the ones located closest to U.A. as per Ainz's request. The Sorcerer King estimated a few weeks would pass before the storefronts located in close proximity to U.A. will be ready to go into business. That gave him time to plan and set up the event that Izuku would need to prove that he can stand shoulder to shoulder with the likes of those in the hero course of Japan's top hero high school.

...Luckily, he had made the fodder he'd need already.

One day in the middle of the week at Izuku's junior high school, Ainz was sitting at his desk, doing his work as needed. He had an Amulet of Flight worn around his neck but hidden under his academy uniform jacket, just to be safe. Ainz was so engrossed in his school work that, for yet another time, he was blasted via Bakugo's Explosion quirk and it didn't even register on him. Izuku didn't perk up until a female classmate got his attention by waving a hand directly in front of his face, making him look up.

"Bakugo just blasted you with his quirk and you didn't even notice," the girl said, "How is that even possible?"

"Maybe being hit by enough punishment from the guy guaranteed to get into U.A. made Midoriya awaken some sort of resilience quirk or something," said a boy who was in the same class.

"The hell do you think you're doing acting like I'm nothing, Deku?!" Bakugo snarled, "What, do you think you're better than me?"

"The second prince of the kingdom Gazef gave his life for is better than you, Katsuki Bakugo," Ainz thought dryly. Speaking up, Ainz said, "Sorry, Kacchan. I'm just focused on my studies. Someone who aims to get into U.A. ought to do the same instead of wasting time."

Bakugo was able to register the veiled insult that (who he thought was still) Izuku just gave him. But before the explosive teen could begin to go off on the Sorcerer King, a girl standing near the window looking down at the school's track let out a frightened scream of horror. "ZOMBIES!" screamed the girl at the top of her lungs, "GIANT BLACK ARMORED ZOMBIES!"

The rest of the classmates all turned to look at the girl, with a few even going over to look out the window, if only to humor the girl. "There's no such thing as zombies, Yomi," said the girl who told Ainz that Bakugo blasted him, "What's with the act to try to scare-"

"Holy shit she's right!" said a boy who can make himself super buff, "Granted they're more like skeletons than zombies, but it's still pretty accurate!" Now curious as well as a little worried, the rest of the class all went over to look out the window. To their horror, they saw half a dozen of what only Ainz knew were Death Knights. Specifically they were the ones he raised during the raid to take over the Shie Hassaikai so as to gain his needed foothold in the second New World.

Ainz told those Death Knights ahead of time that he was going to have to kill them for his plans for the second New World to get the boost they needed. The Death Knights, existing only to serve the Overlord who brought them into existence, were more than honored to be slain by his hand if it had the effect of helping him achieve his goals. Ainz had them come here today so as many people at the school can see Izuku Midoriya defeat a bunch of monsters single handedly.

As screams from elsewhere in the school resonated into Izuku's classroom, the students with Ainz saw it as one Death Knight straight up killed a teacher who tried to flee. The same teacher who had questioned Ainz on why Bakugo's quirk wasn't working that one time, and Ainz had discreetly cast a spell on to control him into being in range where and when the Death Knights invaded the school to be a terror. Many girls in class freaked, and one boy even vomited out of stress.

Ainz took note on how even Bakugo looked freaked. "No... no fucking way..." Bakugo said, right before he saw Ainz open a window with the intent to leap out of it and head towards the momsters. "Deku! Are you fucking crazy?!" Bakugo exclaimed.

"No, Kacchan," Ainz said dryly and with a hint of knowing to it, "I simply do not fear risking myself." The rest of the class then saw it as (who they still thought was) Izuku leap out the window.

END, CHAPTER FIVE

Author's notes;

This chapter sees Ainz explain things to some of his female grunts in the Shie Hassaikai, as well as set up generating more money for his operations in the second New World. It also sees him begin to gather the pieces he figures he'll be needing for his plans to succeed, including setting up a bit for 'Izuku' to show that he does indeed have the power needed to be a pro hero, despite the fact that he lacks a quirk.

That bit being having the Death Knights he raised during the Shie Hassaikai raid invade Izuku's school so that Ainz can confront them, vanquish them, and prove that he has what it takes. How the plan will go is something that will be seen next chapter, as it'll see Ainz meet a certain pro hero in person for the first time.
