Deep in the dark Gravesfield woods, the Hexsquad; Luz Noceda, Amity Blight, Hunter, Willow Park and Gus Porter were sitting around a raging campfire roasting some marshmallows dressed in their respective Halloween costumes. Luz and Amity dressed as Charlie Morningstar and Vaggie from Hazbin Hotel respectively; Hunter and Willow were dressed as Moxxie and Millie from Helluva Boss respectively; While Gus was dressed as the Tenth Doctor from Doctor Who.

"Vee not joining us?" Hunter asked.

"Nah." Luz replied. "She and Masha have gone to a cemetery to do a ritual to summon the dream demon himself."

Willow looked alarmed. "Really?"

"Nah." Luz reached into the pocket on her red jacket and pulled out her phone to show a photo of Vee and Masha dressed as Mrs Lovett and Sweeney Todd respectively. "They're at a Halloween party at a cemetery."

"And instead of going there, we're sitting round a campfire, eating marshmallows and watching Hunter burn his to a crisp." Gus remarked while glancing at Hunter.

Hunter realised what Gus had noticed and looked to the Marshmallow that he was cooking and saw that it was burning. He panicked upon seeing it up in flames and did the first thing he thought of, lodged it in his mouth.

Which was a stupid decision as he felt his tongue burning. His Palismen, Waffles, quickly flew up with a bottle of water in their claws. The Grimwalker snatched it and quickly drank all of it with one gulp.

"So let me understand this correctly, we are going to take it in turns to tell a scary story?" Amity queried.

"Yup." Luz replied. "But I want this to be fun. Let's make it a bit of a contest."

Willow leaned in with a grin. "Contest? I'm interested."

"So, for this, I want all five of us to tell a scary story." Luz explained as Stringbean shifted into a torch that Luz shone against her face. "It can be about anything." She began to do creepy gestures. "Killers, monsters, murders, ghouls, demons or the crippling fear of not knowing the future. Whoever tells the scariest story, as judged by everyone here, will be awarded. And that prize is, a day of doing whatever the winner wants."

Each of the Hexsquad gave glances at each other before grinning with glee. "Oh, I have ideas what I wanna do to you Noceda." Amity grinned.

"If I win, I'm going to make all of you read Cosmic Frontier." Hunter said.

"Yay!" Gus cheered.

"While Gus will have to read Little Women." Hunter folded his arms with a smug grin on his face.

"Aww dang!" Gus groaned.

"And if I win, then I will force you to perform the workout of death." Willow said.

"Workout of death?" Luz asked.

"It's a workout so dangerous, so exhausting and so painful that it is said that the witch who formed it got so rip, they died!" Willow exclaimed. "Yup, their own muscles exploded."

Luz, Amity and Gus were horrified while Hunter was flustered, since this was his girlfriend. "And…How do you know of this?" Luz asked.

"It's well known." Willow said. "Besides, how do you think I got these abs?"

"Yeah." Hunter retorted.

"Alright, so who wants to start off this night of scary stories?" Luz asked as she removed the blonde wig from her head.

Gus raised his hand. "I do have a question."

"Sure. Fire away." Luz said.

"What kind of scary would you expect?" Gus asked. "Like…Taxes, the fear of the unknown or inevitable death?"

Luz pondered the idea. "Just keep them over the top at least."

"Alright." Gus smiled. "So, this one is a tale of cops and a serial killer. One detective with a supernatural gift of thinking like a killer against another killer whom has a goal which ties into themes of childhood trauma. I give you the tale of Redmandragonhunter!"
