On the very next day, after snagging all of the Shadow Pokémon from the Trainers in Duel Square, a man came staggering out of the windmill. He fell on the ground.
"Wes, look!" Rui gasped.
"I see him!" Wes said.
"S-Someone... There's trouble... H-Help me..." the man said. Wes and Rui approached him.
"What happened?" Wes asked.
"The chief's inside... Silva came and..." The man said.
"Silva?" Wes asked.
"This can't be good," Rui said.
"It's not," Wes agreed. "Let's go and see." Wes and Rui stepped inside the windmill and they saw the chief inside, laying on the floor.
"Are you alright?" Rui asked, concerned.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow..." The chief groaned. "That Silva's gone too far this time."
"What happened? What did he do?" Wes asked.
"He ripped out and ripped off one of the gears. The colosseum's going to be without power!" The chief said.
Suddenly, Sherles and Mr. Johnson came rushing in the windmill. Either someone called them or they noticed something was up.
"Chief! Are you alright?" Chief Sherles asked. The chief stood up on his feet.
"Yeah, the only thing bruised is my pride. It was only Silva, so I wasn't expecting any trouble," the chief explained. Mr. Johnson then gasped.
"Huh?! But isn't Silva Duking's trusted lieutenant? What's his motive for doing this?" Mr. Johnson asked.
"That's what I want to know. He was ranting about how the colosseum can just shut down or something," the chief explained.
"You sure you're okay, sir?" Rui asked. He turned to Wes and Rui.
"Sorry to worry you younglings. Thanks for your concern. I'll be fine now," the chief said with a smile. "But I need to ask for a favor. Will you hear me out?"
"Sure. What is it?" Wes asked.
"If the colosseum loses power, the whole town suffers. I need you to find that gear Silva ran off with. I'm counting on you younglings," the chief said.
"Well, you said we'd do it, Wes. What's your idea?" Rui asked.
"Well, the people won't talk to the cops around here, but maybe they'll talk with us. I mean, someone had to see him run off with it," Wes said.
"That's true," Rui agreed.
With that said, Wes and Rui stepped out of the windmill and started to search for Silva and the gear.
"Rui, you think this has something to do with the Shadow Pokémon?" Wes asked.
"I think so. He must not have liked how it was looking, so that's probably why he took the gear," Rui said.
"According to the Trainers, the colosseum was giving out Shadow Pokémon, so it's very likely he was trying to shut them down, whoever they are," Wes said.
"Silva was pretty mad at Duking when we saw him yesterday," Rui said.
"Excuse me, but I couldn't help but overhear your conversation. You mentioned Silva, right?" A woman asked.
"We did. He took off with a gear from the windmill just a little while ago. Have you seen him?" Wes asked.
"You know, I think I did see him, and he was carrying something when he ran out of town," the woman said.
"Do you know where he took it?" Rui asked.
"I heard him say that he was taking the gear to that construction site not too far away from here. I honestly never believed he and Silva have a falling out this bad and then Silva would stab Duking in the back like this," the woman said.
"Thanks for the info," Rui said.
"You're welcome," the woman said, taking off.
"Well, we now know where to look. We passed by that place just yesterday, didn't we?" Wes pointed out.
"We did, and I agree. He must wanted to put a stop to this Shadow Pokémon business, but this isn't how to do it," Rui said.
"Well, let's head on over and get it," Wes said. Rui agreed and went off to Wes's vehicle to retrieve the gear. He placed the Pokémon he had with the others, except for Espeon and Umbreon. They reached the construction site where they spotted a worker who is on break, drinking some coffee from his thermos.
"Something I can help you with?" The worker asked.
"You didn't see someone carrying something with him? Something like a gear?" Rui asked.
"No, but I did see a gear. I can bet the foreman sent you, because I told him that it didn't belong, and he said he was going to have it taken care of. That was fast," the worker said.
"Where's the gear?" Wes asked.
"Over to the corner over there," the worker said, pointing to a corner when he turned around to the right. "You'll see it."
"Thanks," Rui said as she and Wes headed to the direction he was pointing to. They saw the gear laying in the corner. "This has got to be it." Wes picked it up in his hands.
"Now, let's head back to Pyrite Town and give it back to power up the colosseum," Wes said.
"Right," Rui agreed.
Wes and Rui went back to their ride and right towards the vehicle and rode back to Pyrite Town. When they came back to the windmill, they saw Duking inside, talking with the staff.
"I am so very sorry about this. I honestly don't know what could have gotten into Silva," Duking said.
"I'm fine. There's no need for your worrying," the chief said.
"Good. That's good. but Silva... This is an outrage!" Duking said. "Dammit, Silva, I appreciate what you're doing, but you're actually hurting me more than you're helping me," Duking said in his thoughts.
"No, no. I reckon he agonized over this and did it because he thought it right. I can't blame the man for that," the chief assured.
"I'm sure you're right," Rui said. Duking and the chief turned around. They saw Wes holding the missing gear.
"We brought it back for you," Wes said.
"Hey, I know you. I saw you two at my place yesterday," Duking said. The chief chuckled.
"I reckon you might be saying thanks, Duking," the chief said.
"Where did you find it?" Duking asked.
"We just found it in that construction site just outside of town," Rui said.
"And you found it for us! What amazing luck!" Duking exclaimed. "Anyway, I'll ask you to excuse me for my behavior yesterday. You two seem to be people who are worthy of trust."
"We were just two people doing a good deed," Wes said. Rui just smiled at that.
"You have my sincere thanks," Duking said.
"Now that we got the thanks out of the way, we can now put that gear back where it belongs," the chief said as Wes hands him the gear. The chief placed the gear back in its place. "All done! Standing by! Let it roll!" He sang, "Oh, thirty long years of cracking gears! Oh yeah!" He pushed the lever up and the gears start turning. Outside, the windmill starts turning again.
Watching out in the distance, Silva saw the windmill turning.
"Dammit!" Silva cursed. "I was sure it would stop Miror B from abusing the colosseum, but it didn't! Well, it looks like I'll have to try even harder. I'll take the fight directly to him."
Back to the windmill, the chief laughed.
"This is the way it ought to be. Things are fine now," the chief said. "The problem I got is that Miror B character."
"I take it that you don't like the guy," Wes guessed.
"Heh, who does? That Miror B's a bad parasite. If only someone'd stomp that pest," the chief said as he laughed.
"We'll be going now. If you excuse us," Wes said.
"Wait a minute," Duking said. "I can tell that you're a man of courage and honor. I have a favor to ask. Will you hear me out?"
"Sure," Wes said.
"What is it?" Rui asked.
"I'm grateful. I want you to enter the next colosseum battle," Duking said. "I need you to win the knockout challenge and find out what is going on out there," Duking said.
"Sure. That's what we had in mind all along before this mess started," Wes said.
"That's great! I can tell from a glance that you're no ordinary Trainer. I know you can win! I'm sorry, but help me," Duking said. Wes didn't say a word, but he simply nodded. He and Rui stepped out of the windmill and started to practice a bit before heading directly to the colosseum, so Wes had to work on getting the Shadow Pokémon to remember the moves they had before becoming Shadow Pokémon. When their emotions got the better of them, but luckily, Wes snapped them out of it. Once the Shadow Pokémon remembered some of their old moves, Wes and Rui crossed the bridge and stepped in the colosseum.
"May I help you?" The receptionist asked.
"Yes, you may. I would like to register for the colosseum knockout challenge," Wes requested.
"Of course. I would you to fill out the information and we can set you up," the receptionist said. Wes filled out the info and handed it over to the receptionist. "Alright, Wes. It'll be a few minutes to have you set up. Please wait." Wes had all the time he needed, so he took out his Pokémon Box and he had Slugma, Flaaffy, Quagsire, and Skiploom over to him. Luckily, Wes didn't wait long. "Thank you for your patience. Your registrations are now completed. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask."
"What are the rules of the challenge?" Wes asked.
"The rule of the challenge is the battles are double battles. The key is to take out your opponent's Pokémon and win the challenge, and you'll win a wonderful prize," the receptionist said. "Is there anything else you like to know?"
"I got the info I need," Wes said.
"Good luck, sir," the receptionist said as she opened up.
"I'll be cheering for you, Wes," Rui said. Wes just smiled.
"Thanks," Wes said.
And so, the knockout challenge has begun. Spectators were up in the rafts, roaring with excitement. Wes's first opponent has sent out a Barboach and a Sandshrew right at him. Wes took out two of his Pokéballs and threw them. Wes took out two of his own and threw them.
"Go! Quagsire and Skiploom!" Wes called out.
"Sandshrew! Use Scratch! Barboach! Use Water Gun!" Wes's first opponent shouted.
"Quagsire! Use Mud Shot! Skiploom! Use Sleep Powder!" Wes ordered. Skiploom sprinkled Sleep Powder, making Sandshrew and Barboach fall right to sleep. Quagsire fired a Mud Bomb, hitting Barboach, resulting in a knockout. "Skiploom! Use Bullet Seed!" Skiploom fired a Bullet Seed, hitting Sandshrew, resulting in a knockout.
"You've still got a long, long way to go in Pyrite Colosseum!" Wes's opponent said.
A few moments later, Wes's next opponent stepped out, being a young woman stepping out.
"You're planning to win it all? You know that's impossible!" The young woman said. She took out two Pokéballs and threw it. "Go! Natu and Meditite!" Her Pokéballs opened and her Natu and Meditite emerged from inside. Wes took out his two Pokéballs and threw them.
"Go! Slugma and Flaaffy!" Wes called out. Slugma and Flaaffy emerged from inside.
"Meditite! Use Mega Punch on Flaaffy! Natu! Use Peck on Slugma!" The young woman ordered. Meditite came at Flaaffy with a Mega Punch. Natu heads right for Slugma and pecked the Lava Pokémon.
"Flaaffy! Use Thunder Shock on Natu! Slugma! Use Flamethrower on Meditite!" Wes ordered. Flaaffy fired a Thunder Shock, landing a hit on the Tiny Bird Pokémon as Slugma lands a hit with a Flamethrower. Natu was knocked out, but Meditite was still standing.
"Meditite! Use Confusion on Slugma !" The young woman ordered. Meditite lifts the Lava Pokémon up with Confusion.
"Flaaffy! Use Thunder Shock!" Wes ordered. Flaaffy fired a Thunder Shock, shocking Meditite, resulting in a knockout.
"Oh, wow! You're not half-bad, you!" The young woman said.
After some battles, it went up to the semi-final, so it was down to four challangers. Wes has stepped out, ready to battle. It was against a young man wearing a bandana.
"You're trying to score some awesome Pokémon, aren't you? It's not going to be easy!" The young man boasted.
"I don't do easy," Wes said. His opponent took two of his Pokéballs and threw them. Out came an Electrike and a Cacnea. Wes had the right Pokémon for the job. He took out two of his Pokéballs and threw them.
"Espeon and Umbreon! Go!" Wes called out. Espeon and Umbreon emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Cacnea! Use Poison Sting! Electrike! Use Quick Attack!" The young man ordered.
"Espeon! Use Confusion! Umbreon! Use Snarl!" Wes ordered. Espeon uses Confusion to block Poison Sting and Umbreon unleashed a Snarl, hitting Electrike. Espeon sent the poison attack back at the Cactus Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage and resulted in a double knockout. The young man took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Vulpix! I choose you!" The young man shouted. "Okay, Vulpix! Use Flame Charge!" Vulpix ran towards the two Eeveelutions.
"Espeon! Umbreon! Psybeam and Feint Attack!" Wes ordered. Espeon fired Psybeam, hitting the Fox Pokémon as Umbreon vanished for a moment and then reappeared and lands a hit, resulting in a knockout. Wes has earned another victory.
"Whoa!" The young man exclaimed as he calls his Vulpix back. "Hey, maybe you do have what it takes to handle that awesome Pokémon."
"You have no idea," Wes said.
It was now time for the final battle in the colosseum as Wes and his final opponent stared at each other after arriving in the colosseum. It turns out that it's a muscular man wearing a skin-tight catsuit.
"If you beat me, Master Miror B could come calling for your services. Here goes," the muscular man said. He took out two of his Pokéballs and threw them. "Bagon, Goldeen! Go!" His Pokéballs opened and a Bagon and a female Goldeen emerged from inside. Wes took out two of his Pokéballs and threw them.
"Espeon! Umbreon! Go!" Wes called out. Espeon and Umbreon emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Bagon! Use Headbutt! Goldeen! Use Horn Attack!" The muscular man ordered. Bagon and Goldeen charged right at Espeon and Umbreon.
"Espeon, Umbreon! Psybeam and Snarl!" Wes ordered. Espeon and Umbreon fired a combo Psybeam and Snarl at his two Pokémon, taking the both of them down. He calls them both back and took out two more Pokéballs and threw them.
"Magnemite, Delibird! Go!" The muscular man shouted. His Pokéballs opened and his two Pokéballs opened and they emerged from inside. "Delibird! Use Present! Magnemite! Sonicboom!" Delibird took out a small white box with a red ribbon and threw it as Magnemite has unleashed a powerful soundwave.
"Espeon! Use Confusion to block them both!" Wes ordered. Espeon uses Confusion on the two attacks and sent them back to their owners. "Umbreon! Use Feint Attack on Magnemite!" Umbreon came at the Magnet Pokémon with a Feint Attack, landing a hit. "Epseon! Use Confusion on Delibird!" Espeon unleashed another Confusion on Delibird, sending Delibird right at Magnemite, resulting in a double knockout. Wes has won the battle.
"You're some kind of strong! Good things could be in store for you!" The muscular man exclaimed. Wes called Espeon and Umbreon back and he approached the counter once it was over.
"Congratulations! You're the champion! You battled famously!" The receptionist praised.
"Thanks," Wes said.
"Please accept this cash prize of 4848 munny!" The receptionist said, handing him the prize money. Wes accepted the cash prize. "And as a victory prize, please accept this rare stone." She took out a dark blue stone, so Wes accepted it. "We'll be looking forward to your next entry. "Your winning streak was amazing! I hope you will participate again!"
"Thanks," Wes said. He turned to Rui.
"You were amazing out there. I knew you could do it," Rui said.
"Yeah, now we just have to go see where we get a Shadow Pokémon," Wes said.
And this is where we will end it for now, but stay tuned if you wish to see more.
