Before we get this chapter started, I thought I should share that I thought of having the Time Flute being used more than once, but being in a certain range of the Relic Stone. So, here's our next take on this fic, so enjoy!

After learning about the attack on Mount Battle from Duking, Wes and Rui purified all of the snagged Pokémon with the exception of the Shadow Hitmontop. They go on north towards the mountain range. They suspected Team Shadow to be involved with the attack.

Before they could go on even further to Mount Battle, they were suddenly attacked by Heartless.

"It's the Heartless again!" Rui exclaimed.

"It looks like they don't want us going forward," Wes said, summoning his two Keyblades and engaged the Shadows. "Too bad for you, because we're going through rather if you like it or not!" The Shadows lunged at Wes and he slashed the Shadows by swinging his two Keyblades. More Shadows appeared and they've brought Neoshadows with them. "You've got to he kidding!" The Shadows and Neoshadows came right at Wes as he struck down some of the Heartless. "Who's next?" The Shadows and Neoshadows came at Wes again as he jumped and slashed at the Heartless, destroying them. A Neoshadow was coming for Rui, much to her dismay.

"Wes!" Rui cried. Hearing her voice, he turned around and gasped.

"Rui!" Wes exclaimed he then growled as he was about to help her, but the Shadows and Neoshadows kept getting in his path. Rui started to run for her life, but she tripped and fell. The Neoshadow raises its claw at Rui. Knowing the end was coming she held her arm out defense, but flash of light engulfs Rui, much to Wes's surprise. "Rui?"

Rui was alright. She saw that she also has a Keyblade. It was the Star Seeker Keyblade. She held it tight in her hand and she used it to slash at the Neoshadow that was chasing her. She sees Wes fighting the Shadows and Neoshadows, so she rushed over to Wes and slashed at the Heartless. Wes was surprised by how she was handling the Heartless.

"I had no idea you were a talented swordswoman," Wes said.

"Neither did I," Rui said. More Shadows and Neoshadows came out from the ground. "Fight now, compliment later."

"Right," Wes agreed. Both Wes and Rui worked together to fight the Heartless, slashing one after the other. They've kept it up until there was no more of them in sight. Wes looked directly at Rui as he dismissed his Keyblades. Rui dismissed her Keyblade, too. Wes was filled with concern for Rui. "You alright, Rui? Those things didn't hurt you, did they?"

"I don't think so," Rui said as Wes took Rui in his arms. Rui blushed, feeling his warmth from his body. She hugged Wes back. She could hear his heartbeat.

"I'm glad," Wes said. He realized he was hugging her and let her go. "Anyway, we should head for Mount Battle right away."

"Yes, we should," Rui agreed.

"Oh, and thanks for the assist, Rui," Wes said, blushing.

"You're welcome," Rui said.

With that said, Wes and Rui returned to their ride and headed for Mount Battle. Upon arriving, they could tell something was wrong; and they knew the reason for it being so wrong. A jogger spotted them both and approached them.

"It's terrible, terrible! I tell you, it's terrible!" The jogger panted as she gasped.

"What's so terrible?" Wes asked.

"Mount Battle is under attack by a group of shady people!" The jogger panted. "I'm so out of breath..."

"How much do you wanna bet that Dakim guy is the one who's behind this mess, Rui?" Wes asked.

"A whole lot," Rui said.

They were heading for the door only to be stopped by a man standing by the stairway to the entrance.

"Thinking about taking the Mount Battle challenge? Forget about it! I'd keep clear of that place for now. I hear Mount Battle's been taken over by a bunch of Trainers that use weird Pokemon," the man said.

"And that would be Shadow Pokemon," Wes and Rui said in unison.

"Shadow what?" The man asked.

"Never mind that. We'll show ourselves in," Wes said as he and Rui stepped inside. There were some people inside the lobby, distraught by what had happened.

"If you're here to try the Mount Battle challenge, than you're out of luck," a young man said.

"It has to do with the Trainers who attacked Mount Battle, doesn't it?" Wes asked.

"It does. A bunch of creepy-looking Trainers came and started attacking Trainers without any warning! These Trainers... The Pokemon they had weren't normal, the way you look at them..." the young man said.

"Not only that, but they were after Vander! He couldn't get out in time!" Another young man said.

"Who's Vander?" Rui asked.

"He's one of the Area Leaders. To be honest, I don't know why they would want him," the second young man said.

"Where is he?" Wes asked.

"He's beyond the doors behind the front desk. Nobody can get in because of those people inside," the second young man said.

"That way is our only way," Wes said.

"I don't think they're gonna let us through," Rui said.

"We don't have a choice. We gotta clear those people out and snag the Shadow Pokemon from them," Wes said.

"You're right," Rui agreed. "I'm with you all the way." With that said, Wes and Rui stepped up to the counter.

"We have to go inside. Open the door," Wes said.

"No! I'm sorry, but I can't let you in. It's full of thugs. It's dangerous," the receptionist said.

"Those thugs are the reason we're here," Rui said.

"Yes, we were sent here by Duking," Wes said.

"Oh? You heard about us from Duking? You must be here to save us!" The receptionist said.

"Yeah, we are," Wes said.

"You see, it was me who contacted Duking for help. I didn't think you would get here so quickly. But please be careful. The power of their Pokemon isn't normal," the receptionist said. Wes took out his Pokemon Box and he had Feraligatr, Typhlosion, Ampharos, and Hitmontop sent to him from his vehicle, knowing he was going to need some additional help. Wes and Rui stepped inside through the doors and came to a series of platforms.

One of the Trainers spotted Wes and Rui on the platform and he approached them.

"Whoops, hold on. Aren't you mistaking something? All training has been put on hold. But if you really must, sure, I'll battle you," the Trainer said.

"And I accept your challenge," Wes said, taking out a Pokéball and a Great Ball. "Ampharos, Hitmontop! Go!" The Pokéball and Great Ball emerged and both Pokémon emerged from inside. His opponent took out two Pokéballs and threw them.

"Trapinch! Numel! Go!" The Trainer called out. Both Pokémon emerged from inside, ready to battle. He laughed at the choice Wes made. "You should know that Electric-type attacks won't work on Ground-types like my Traipinch and Numel!"

"Types aren't everything," Wes said. "Hitmontop! Shadow Break on Numel! Ampharos! Use Dragon Pulse on Trapinch!" Hitmontop rushes at Numel and landed some heavy damage on the Numb Pokémon, resulting in a knockout. Ampharos unleashed Dragon Pulse, hitting Trapinch. The Trainer called his Trapinch and Numel back and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.

"Sandshrew! Go!" The Trainer shouted. His Sandshrew emerged from inside. Wes called back Ampharos and took out Jumpluff's Pokéball and threw it.

"Jumpluff! You're up!" Wes called out. His Pokéball opened and Jumpluff came out. Hitmontop entered Reverse Mode. "Hitmontop! Snap out of it!" Hitmontop hears Wes's voice and came back to his senses. "Jumpluff! Use Giga Drain!"

"Dodge and use Metal Claw!" The Trainer ordered. Sandshrew attempts to dodge, but Jumpluff was too quick for the Mouse Pokémon and absorbed some energy from Sandrew's body. Sandshrew was now knocked out.

"You don't need any training," the Trainer said, calling his Sandshrew back. Wes called Jumpluff and Hitmontop back. "Urgh... Master Dakim will crush my skull for this. But I hope he crushes yours before does." He ran off. They went to the next platform and saw their the next Trainer. He saw the battle.

"Hm? Turo took a fall, did he? I could never count on that guy. Well, I just think of it as there being more for me to enjoy! Come on!" The Trainer said, taking out his two Pokéballs.

"Just gimme what you got," Wes said. His opponent threw the two Pokéballs.

"Okay, Swinub and Baltoy! Go!" The Trainer shouted, throwing his Pokéballs. Out came a Swinub and Baltoy. Wes took out his two Pokéballs and threw them.

"Umbreon and Hitmontop! Go!" Wes shouted. His Pokéballs opened and Umbreon and Hitmontop came out to battle.

"Swinub! Use Ice Beam on Umbreon! Baltoy! Use Shadow Ball on Hitmontop!" The Trainer ordered.

"Umbreon! Use Dark Pulse on Baltoy! Hitmontop! Use Shadow Break on Swinub!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop spins through Swinub's Ice Beam and deals some heavy damage on the Pig Pokémon as Umbreon fired Dark Pulse, hitting Baltoy on the mark. He called them both back.

"Okay, you asked for it!" The Trainer angrily exclaimed, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Larvitar! I choose you!" His Pokéball opened and his Larvitar emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Larvitar! Use Stone Edge!" Larvitar unleashed Stone Edge and sends the stones over to the two Pokémon.

"Dodge that!" Wes called out. Umbreon and Hitmontop dodged Larvitar's attack. "Shadow Break!" Hitmontop lands a hit with Shadow Break, dealing some heavy damage. Larvutar was knocked out. Wes's opponent exclaimed in shock, having to lose the battle. Wes called Umbreon and Hitmontop back.

"I'm dead! I'm good as dead!" The Trainer said, running away in fear. It was clear that they were afraid of Dakim. The next Trainer is a young woman.

"What's going on? Both Turo and Drovic went down? That's weak," the young woman scoffed. "I'm not going down easily."

"How about the hard way?" Wes asked. She took out her Pokéballs and threw them. "Geodude and Sandshrew! Go!" Her Pokéballs opened and her Geodude and Sandshrew came out to battle. Wes took out his Pokéballs and threw them again.

"Hitmontop and Feraligatr! You're up!" Wes called out. His Pokéballs opened and the two Pokémon came out to battle.

"Geodude! Use Mega Punch on Hitmontop! Sandshrew! Slash on Hitmontop, too!" The young woman ordered.

"Hitmontop! Shadow Break!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop came at Geodude and Sandshrew, landing a hit with Shadow Break. Geodude was taken down, but Sandshrew was still standing.

"My Sandshrew is a whole lot stronger than Turo's Sandshrew!" The young woman said, calling back her Geodude. She took out her next Pokéball and threw it. Numel! Go!" Her Pokéball opened and a female Numel came out to battle. "Flame Charge on Hitmontop!" Numel rushes at Hitmontop with a Flame Charge.

"Hydro Pump!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr fired Hydro Pump, knocking Numel out. "Hydro Pump again, but at Sandshrew this time!" Feraligatr fires another Hydro Pump and hits Sandshrew, knocking it out. She calls back her two fallen Pokémon. Wes called Hitmontop and Feraligatr back.

"I went down easily!" The young woman cried. "Just today, I'll back off easily!" She ran off. They went to the next platform and they're challenged by the next Trainer.

"Fu... That trio you've already defeated, if likened them to food, they would only be d'oeuvres. The real battling begins now!" The Trainer said, taking out his Pokéballs and threw them. "Pineco and Baltoy!" His Baltoy and Pineco came out to battle. Wes took out his two Pokéballs and threw them. "Pineco! Use Headbutt on Hitmontop! Baltoy! Use Rapid Spin on Typhlosion!"

"Typhlosion and Hitmontop! Go!" Wes called out. Typhlosion and Hitmontop came out to battle. "Hitmontop! Shadow Break on Baltoy! Typhlosion! Flamethrower on Pineco!" Typhlosion fires Flamethrower, hitting Pineco, knocking it out. Hitmontop gave Baltoy a hit with Shadow Break. Pineco and Baltoy were both knocked out. He called them both back and he took out two more Pokéballs and threw them.

"Go! Houndour and Graveler!" The Trainer called out. His Pokéballs opened and a Houndour and a Graveler emerged from inside. "Graveler! Use Rollout on Typhlosion! Houndour! Fire Fang on Hitmontop!"

"Hitmontop! Use Triple Kick!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop spins around and lands a trio of kicks onto Houndour and Graveler, dealing some heavy damage due to their weakness to Fighting-type moves. Wes called back Typhlosion and took out Feraligatr's Pokéball and threw it. "Feraligatr! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Feraligatr emerged from inside. "Hitmontop! Jump! Feraligatr! Surf!" Feraligatr summons a huge wall of water and brings it down on Graveler and Houndour, knocking them both out. He called back his fallen Pokémon.

"Had enough?" Wes asked.

"Please, no!" The Trainer pleaded.

"What do you think, Rui?" Wes asked.

"I think he had enough, Wes," Rui said.

"I agree," Wes said, calling his two Pokémon back.

"The real battles begin after me!" The Trainer said, running away. Watching from the next platform, it is another young woman.

"Wow... You've come a long, long way from home. You should be proud of yourselves. But prepare for a thrashing. I never miss targets once I get them in my sights!" the young woman said.

"There's a first time for everything," Rui said.

"You took the words right out of my mouth, Rui," Wes said. His opponent took out two Pokéballs and she threw them.

"Trapinch! Go!" The young woman shouted. Two Trapinch came out to battle. Wes took out his two Pokéballs and threw them.

"Espeon and Hitmontop! Go!" Wes called out. His Pokéballs opened and Espeon and Hitmontop came out to battle.

"Trapinch! You use your Mud-Slap!" The young woman ordered. The two Trapinch spat out mud right at Espeon and Hitmontop.

"Espeon! Psychic!" Wes ordered. Espeon uses Psychic on the mud and sends it back.

"Mud-Slap again!" The young woman ordered. The two Trapinch fired another Mud-Slap, blocking the mud attack combo. "How'd you like that?"

"Not bad, but not good enough. Hitmontop! Triple Kick!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop gave the two Trapinch a trio of kicks. "Espeon! Psychic again!" Espeon uses Psychic on the two Trapinch and brings them down and knocks them out. The young woman calls back her fallen Trapinch and she took out two more Pokéballs and threw them.

"Barboach, Lileep! Go!" The young woman shouted. The young woman shouted. Her Pokéballs opened and her Barboach and Lileep emerged from inside. "Lileep! Use Sludge Bomb! Barboach! Mud-Slap!" Lileep and Barboach unleashed their chosen attacks at their opponents.

"Espeon! Use Psychic!" Wes ordered. Espeon uses Psychic on the attacks. Espeon sent them back at their opponents. "Triple Kick!" Hitmontop lands a Triple Kick onto Barboach and Lileep. They were both knocked out.

"My target got away!" The young woman cried. She glared at him as she called her Barboach and Lileep back. Wes called back Espeon and Hitmontop. "The next time we meet, I really won't let you escape!" She started to make her own escape by running. They came to the sixth platform and they're spotted by another young woman. She approached them both.

"Hello, hello, hello! If you want to get by me, you have to watch my performance," the young woman said. She chuckled. "Or better yet, let's make it a triple Pokémon battle. It's all the rage in the Unova region."

"I'm opened to any challenges," Wes said.

"That's what I like to hear. Okay, let the show begin!" The young woman proclaimed as she took out her three Pokéballs and threw them. "It's showtime, Cacnea, Spinda, and Kadabra!" Her Pokéballs opened and out came her three Pokémon. Wes took out his three Pokéballs and threw them.

"Espeon, Umbreon, and Hitmontop! Go!" Wes called out. His Pokéballs opened and out came Espeon, Umbreon, and Hitmontop.

"Since it's my show, I get the rights to the first attack. Cacnea, use Needle Arm on Espeon! Spinda! Psybeam on Hitmontop! Kadabra! Use you Psybeam on Hitmontop, too!" Cacnea came at Espeon with a Needle Arm as Spinda and Kadabra fired a double Psybeam.

"Umbreon, in front of Hitmontop!" Wes called out. Umbreon complied with Wes and took the hit from Psybeam. Thanks to his resistance to Psychic-type attacks, Umbreon is unharmed.

"Hey, that's not on the script!" The young woman exclaimed.

"It's not on your script, but it's on mine. Hitmontop! Use Shadow Break!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop rushes at Spinda, Cacnea, and Kadabra, dealing some heavy damage on her three Pokémon. Cacnea and Spinda were both knocked out, but Kadabra was still standing. She called her Cacnea and Spinda back.

"Kadabra! Use Recover!" The young woman ordered. Kadabra managed to heal its injuries, but not all the way it would seem.

"Umbreon! Feint Attack!" Wes ordered. Umbreon vanished for a moment before he reappeared and lands a hit on the Psi Pokémon, knocking it out. She called back her fallen Kadabra.

"My performance is ruined!" The young woman cried. Wes called his three Pokémon back. "Nobody would pay to see my show..." She took off. On the seventh platform, another Trainer spotted Wes and Rui.

"All six were defeated? Sheesh, what were those incompetents doing? This is where the buck stops!" The young man said, taking out his three Pokéballs and threw them. Graveler, Sandslash, and Vibrava!" His Pokéballs opened and his three Pokémon came out.

"Another triple battle, huh? Wes can take it!" Rui said.

"I can," Wes agreed, taking out his three Pokéballs and threw them. "Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Hitmontop! Go!" His three Pokéballs opened and out came Feraligatr, Typhlosion, and Hitmontop.

"Sandslash! Crush Claw on Hitmontop! Graveler! Mega Punch on Feraligatr! Vibrava! Use Dragon Breath on Typhlosion!" The Trainer ordered.

"Feraligar! Aqua Tail on Gravelr! Typhlosion! Flame Wheel on Sandslash! Hitmontop! Shadow Break on Vibrava!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr, Typhlosion, and Hitmontop came at the three opposing Pokémon and they managed to take them all down. He called all three back.

"You put an end to me!" The Trainer exclaimed. Wes called his three Pokémon back. "You made me lose! They're not going to hire me again after that!" The Trainer then ran away in terror. On the eighth platform, there is a female Team Shadow peon waiting for them. She approached them.

"I guess we're all a little guilty of underestimating you. You've earned some respect. But I'll make you regret coming here!" The female Team Shadow peon snarled.

"Not if I make you regret your attack first," Wes said. The female Team Shadow peon took out two Pokéballs and threw them. "Houndour, Duskull! Go!" Her Pokéballs opened and her two Pokémon came out. Wes took out two of his own and threw them.

"Ampharos and Hitmontop! Go!" Wes called out. Ampharos and Hitmontop emerged from inside, ready to battle.

"Houndour! Use Snarl on Ampharos! Duskull! Use Night Shade on Hitmontop!" The female Team Shadow peon ordered. Houndour unleashed Snarl at Ampharos as Duskull unleashed Night Shade.

"Ampharos! Dodge it and use Thunder Punch on Houndour! Hitmontop! Shadow Break on Duskull!" Wes ordered. Ampharos avoided Houndour's Snarl and lands a Thunder Punch on the mark. Hitmontop lands a heavy blow with Shadow Break, knocking out both of Houndour and Duskull. She called them both back and she took out two more and threw them.

"Koffing, Kirlia! Go!" The female Team Shadow peon shouted. Her Koffing and Kirlia emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Koffing! Use Gyro Ball on Ampharos! Kirlia! Psybeam on Hitmontop!"

"Ampharos! Thunder Punch on Kirlia!" Wes ordered. Ampharos dodged Koffing's Gyro Ball and lands a hit with a Thunder Punch onto Kirlia. "Hitmontop! Shadow Break again!" Hitmontop came at Kirlia and Koffing with another Shadow Break, knocking them both out. She called them both back.

"It isn't right! I shouldn't lose!" The female Team Shadow peon exclaimed. Wes called Ampharos and Hitmontop back. "I shouldn't have battled you in the first place..." She took off, running. On the ninth platform, there was a male Team Shadow peon waiting for them to come all this way.

"You've done well to get here. But there's no next battle for you after this," the male Team Shadow peon said.

"We're going have to see about that," Wes said.

"I agree. I'll destroy you thoroughly!" The male Team Shadow peon exclaimed as he took out three Pokéballs and threw them. "Geodude, Sandslash! Go!" His Pokéballs opened and out came two Geodude and a Sandslash. Wes took out his three Pokéballs and threw them.

"Hitmontop, Feraligatr, Jumpluff! Go!" Wes called out. His Pokéballs opened and out came Hitmontop, Feraligatr, and Jumpluff.

"Sandslash! Use Poison Jab on Jumpluff! Geodude! You use Dynamic Punch on Feraligatr and Hitmontop!" The male Team Shadow peon ordered. The two Geodude rushes at Feraligatr and Hitmontop each with a Dynamic Punch. Sandslash came at Jumpluff with Poison Jab.

"Jumpluff! Use Bounce to dodge! Feraligatr! Aqua Tail! Hitmontop! Use Low Sweep!" Wes ordered. Jumpluff bounced to avoid Sandslash's Poison Jab as Feraligatr uses Aqua Tail on one of the Geodude as Hitmontop lands a low sweeping kick onto the other Geodude. Due to their weakness to Water and Fighting-type moves, both Geodude had taken some heavy damage. Both Geodude was knocked with just one hit.

"Ooh, I knew I should have gotten Geodude that had Sturdy, but no! I had to go with Geodude with Rock Head," the male Team Shadow peon grumbled, calling his two Geodude back. Jumpluff lands right in Sandslash.

"Bullet Seed!" Wes ordered. Jumpluff fired a barrage of Bullet Seed, hitting Sandslash on the mark.

"Why are you so outrageously strong?" The male Team Shadow peon asked, calling his Sandslash back. Wes called back Hitmontop, Feraligatr, and Jumpluff.

"Because I worked hard to be strong. A little something you should try sometime," Wes said.

"Don't get swelled in the head just because you beat me. Master Dakim will deflate your pride real quick!" The male Team Shadow peon said.

"If he's anything like Miror B, then he should get ready to lose big," Wes said. The male Team Shadow peon ran off just the same as the others.

"There's only one more platform to go," Rui said.

"And it's dead ahead," Wes said.

Wes and Rui started to head for the tenth and final platform when they saw two people on the same platform.

He is a very large man with a rather unique appearance. He wears a white jumpsuit and doesn't wear any shoes. Dakim also has red hair and wears some sort of face paint.

"Fine. After all the persuading I did, you still won't hand it over? Hump. This is what happens to stubborn oafs who don't do as I say!" The large man said. He palms the other man, making him groan in pain.

"Y-you treacherous swine... H-How could you refuse to battle?" The man asked in pain. the laughed.

"Treacherous? You didn't really think that a worm like you could win? All you had to do was to hand over the Time Flute without making a fuss. It's your own fault for getting hurt. Since you're not cooperating, I don't have any choice but to haul you off to Ein's Lab," the large man said.

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" Wes said from behind him. Hearing him, he turned around and glared at the duo.

"Hm? Who are you? What were my underlings doing? That outfit of yours… You must be the troublemaker who messed with Skrub in Celebi's forest! And now you've come to mess with me, the great Dakim! Don't make me laugh! I'll pound a lesson into your flesh and bones, so you'll never even think of bothering me again!" Dakim announced. Wes figured Dakim had to have a powerful Shadow Pokémon with him, so he had to be ready. Dakim does a sumo stomp and took out two Pokéballs and threw them. "Metang, Golem! Go forth!" Wes took out two his own and threw them.

"Typhlosion, Feraligatr! Go!" Wes called out. Typhlosion and Feraligatr emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Typhlosion! Flamethrower on Metang! Feraligatr! Water Pulse on Golem!" Typhlosion and Feraligatr fired their attacks at Metang and Golem, but the Megaton Pokémon just dodged out of the way of the water attack.

"Metang! Protect! Golem! Earthquake!" Dakim ordered. Metang creates a protective barrier around itself as Golem slammed on the ground, hitting the both of them. Metang! Metal Claw! Golem! Double-Edge!" Metang and Golem rushes at Wes's two Pokémon.

"Typhlosion, Feraligatr! Dodge it, the both of you!" Wes called out. Typhlosion and Feraligatr avoided Metang and Golem's attacks. "Feraligatr! Aqua Tail on Golem! Typhlosion! Flame Wheel on Metang!" Typhlosion rolls right towards Metang as Feraligatr swings its tail at Golem.

"Protect!" Dakim ordered. Metang and Golem uses Protect to block their attacks. "Use Psychic and Rock Throw!" Dakim ordered. Metang uses Psychic to lift them both up as Golem hurls Rock Throw at Typhlosion and Feraligatr.

"Dodge it!" Wes called out. Typhlosion and Feraligatr dodged Golem's Rock Throw. "Aqua Tail on Golem again!" Feraligatr swings its tail at Golem, landing a hit. "Typhlosion! Flame Wheel on Metang!" Typhlosion rushes at Metang with another Flame Wheel.

"Metang! Use Protect!" Dakim ordered. Metang uses Protect before Typhlosion could land a hit. Wes grits his teeth.

"I gotta take this guy down hard. Metang and Golem using Protect is making this match very hard for me," Wes said in his thoughts. He then gets an idea. "Or maybe, I can use it to my advantage."

"Rock Throw on Typhlosion!" Dakim ordered. Golem hurls Rock Throw at the Volcano Pokémon.

"Feraligatr! Use Aqua Tail to send the rocks back!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr uses its Aqua Tail to send the rocks back to their opponents.

"Protect!" Dakim ordered. Golem and Metang uses Protect to protect themselves from the boulders. "Aqua Tail on Golem! Flame Wheel on Metang!" Dakim just laughed.

"Attack me all you want! I don't care! Protect!" Dakim ordered. Metang and Golem attempt to use Protect, but Feraligatr strikes Golem with Aqua Tail and Typhlosion lands a hit with Flame Wheel on Metang. Both Pokémon were taken down. "What the?! What the hell did you just do?!"

"Just figured out the fault in your Pokémon's Protect. You see, the more the Pokémon uses Protect, the more energy they use up, so I figured it'll fail at a 50% chance," Wes said.

"I get it. That's why he had Feraligatr use Aqua Tail on the rocks. Golem and Metang would put in some energy to protect themselves from enemy attacks. Oh, I do love how he thinks!" Rui said in her thoughts. He called back his Golem and Metang and growled on anger.

"Okay, let's see how handle my next two!" Dakim said. He took out his next Pokéballs and threw them. "Camerupt, Marshtomp! Go!" His Pokéballs opened and his two Pokémon came out to battle. Wes called back his Typlhosion and he took out Hitmontop's Great Ball and threw it.

"Hitmontop! Join right in!" Wes called out. The Great Ball opened and Hitmontop joins Feraligatr in battle. "Shadow Break! on Marshtomp!"

"Use Take Down!" Dakim ordered. Marshtomp charges at Hitmontop with its Take Down, but the Handstand Pokémon lands a devastating blow onto the Mud Fish Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage. "It's going to take more than that to beat my Marshtomp!"

"I don't doubt it. Feraligatr! Hydro Pump on Camerupt!" Wes ordered.

"Camerupt! Protect!" Dakim ordered. Camerupt creates a protective barrier around itself, making Feraligatr's Hydro Pump bounce off.

"Keep using Hydro Pump!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr kept on firing Hydro Pump at Camerupt. Wes had to keep it up and allow Camerupt to lose some of its energy when using Protect. Feraligatr kept on firing its Hydro Pump until Camerupt's Protect was shattered and took the Eruption Pokémon in it. Camerupt was knocked out. Dakim calls his Camerupt back and he growled in anger.

"You're going to pay for that! And I have just the one to do it," Dakim said, taking out another Pokéball. He threw it. "Go! Entei!" His Pokéball opened and an Entei emerged from inside. Rui looked directly at Entei and she saw the black aura.

"Wes! That Entei is a Shadow Pokémon!" Rui warned.

"You gotta be kidding me! You mean to tell me, even legendary Pokémon can become Shadow Pokémon?" Wes asked.

"That's right. Any kind of Pokémon can become a Shadow Pokémon, even if it's a mythical or legendary Pokémon! And there's also one more thing. Entei! Shadow Fire!" Dakim ordered. Entei unleashed a stream of dark flames, hitting Feraligatr, dealing some heavy damage. He laughed. "Entei's weakness to Water-type attacks are no longer a threat to me or to Entei, thanks to the Shadow Pokémon's superiority over regular Pokémon! Marshtomp! Use Mud Shot on Ferligatr!" Marshtomp fired a Mud Shot at the Big Jaw Pokémon, knocking it out. Wes called back Feraligatr.

"I knew it was going to be hard going ahead, but I didn't think it was going to be this complicated. With Entei as a Shadow Pokémon, not even Water-type Pokémon can put out that fire. I'm not going to call it quits that easily," Wes said in his thoughts, taking out Typhlosion's Pokéball and threw it. He called out, "Typhlosion! You're going back out!" His Pokéball opened and Typhlosion came back out to battle. "If water's not going to do it, then how about fire?"

"Bring out any Pokémon you want! I don't care! I'm going to crush your Pokémon and your spirits! Entei! Shadow End!" Dakim ordered. Entei rushes at Typhlosion, landing some heavy damage. Entei then took some recoil damage.

"Hitmontop! Shadow Break on Marshtomp!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop came at the Mud Fish Pokémon, dealing some heavy damage and resulting in a knockout. Dakim called back his Marshtomp.

"You think you got me on the ropes? You're more stupid than you're dressed! Shadow Fire!" Dakim ordered.

"Flamethrower!" Wes ordered. Typhlosion and Entei locked their chosen attacks at each other. One tried to overpower the other. An explosion occurred the both of them, damaging the both of them. Due to no longer being a Shadow Pokémon, Typhlosion has taken the heaviest damage. Entei was injured, but still standing.

"Entei might be a legendary Pokémon, but Entei won't be easy to take down. I know you can do it, Wes. I just know you can," Rui said in her thoughts.

"Shadow Fire again!" Dakim ordered. Entei unleashed another Shadow Fire at Typhlosion.

"Dodge it!" Wes called out. Typhlosion attempts to dodge, but Entei's Shadow Fire came too fast. Typhlosion was taken down, so Wes called his Typhlosion back. He took out Ampharos's Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Amoharos! Come out!" Ampharos emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Thunder Punch!" Ampharos rushes at Entei and lands a Thunder Punch onto the Volcano Pokémon. Entei ends up being paralyzed.

"Shadow End!" Dakim ordered. Entei rushes at Ampharos, knocking Ampharos out. Wes calls Ampharos back and he took out Jumpluff's Pokéball and threw it.

"Okay, Jumpluff! Your turn!" Wes called out. His Pokéball opened and Jumpluff came out to battle. Dakim just laughed.

"Were you dropped on your head when you were a baby? A Grass-type like Jumpluff is no match for a Fire-type like my Entei!" Dakim said.

"Types don't always win Pokémon battles, Dakim," Wes said. Wes knew Jumpluff wouldn't stand a chance, but he knew Jumpluff has the ability to float up in the air like it was flying. He had to make sure it was true on his end.

"For once, I agree with you. Types don't always win Pokémon battles. All it takes is brute strength and absolute power! And I'm going to demonstrate both of those principles to you right here and now! Entei! Shadow Fire!" Dakim ordered. Entei fires another Shadow Fire, but luckily, Jumpluff moved too fast for Entei to land a hit. He took out Hitmontop's Pokéball and called him back. He took out Umbreon's Pokéball and threw it.

"Umbreon! Go!" Wes called out. Umbreon came out to battle. "Use Feint Attack!" Umbreon vanished for a moment before landing a hit onto Entei. "Use Crunch!" Umbreon lands a Crunch onto Entei. Entei turned to Umbreon and lands a Shadow Fire, knocking the Dark-type Eeveelution out. Entei resumed to knock Jumpluff out with Shadow Fire. Wes called Umbreon back and he took out Espeon's Pokéball and threw it. "Come out, Espeon!" His Pokéball opened and Espeon came out to battle. "Use Psychic Fangs!" Espeon lands a bite with Psychic Fangs. "Use Psybeam!" Espeon fired a Psybeam, hitting Entei on the mark. Entei fires another Shadow Fire at Espeon, knocking out the Psychic-type Eeveelution. Wes called back Espeon and took out Hitmontop's Great Ball and threw it. "You're going back out, Hitmontop!" His Great Ball opened and Hitmontop came out to battle again. Jumpluff was soon running out of steam and grew tired. Entei eventually landed a Shadow Fire, knocking Jumpluff out and landed on the platform, knocked out. Wes called back Jumpluff. "You guys did great. You softened Entei up like I wanted you to. I won't let your efforts be wasted."

"You might as well give up, you little weakling. As long as I have Entei under my wing, I am invincible!" Dakim shouted.

"Just because you have a legendary Pokémon, it doesn't mean you're invincible," Wes said.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Dakim asked, irritated.

"I thought a lot about what you said about brute strength and absolute power being the keys to winning a battle. I'm going to say, you're dead wrong! It takes more than strength and power to win battles," Wes said.

"And that would be?" Dakim asked.

"Heart," Wes said. Dakim just laughed at Wes's claim.

"Heart? You're kidding, right? I mean, did you just hear what you just said to me? You say that heart wins Pokémon battles? Don't you know how ridiculous that sounds?" Dakim asked.

"I don't expect you to understand. I've been battling for as long as I can remember. My Pokémon and I worked together as a team to become what we are today. I didn't need any special kind of Pokémon to get strong. But you're a whole different story. You think having a legendary Pokémon would make you unbeatable, so it makes me believe that you're the one who's weak," Wes said. This greatly infuriates Dakim.

"YOU'RE CALLING ME WEAK, YOU PATHETIC, LITTLE NOTHING?! I'M NOT WEAK! I AM STRONG! YOU'RE THE ONE WHO IS WEAK! AND I'M GOING TO PROVE IT! NOT ONLY AM I GOING TO WIN THIS BATTLE, I'M GOING TO KILL YOU AND THROW YOUR CORPSE DOWN THIS MOUNTAIN!" Dakim roared.

"You're gonna have to try," Wes said.

"Entei! Shadow End!" Dakim ordered. Entei rushes right at Hitmontop with Shadow End.

"Dodge and use Low Sweep!" Wes ordered. Hitmontop dodged Entei's attack and lands a kick onto Entei. "Triple Kick!" Hitmontop lands three kicks onto Entei.

"Shadow End again!" Dakim ordered. Entei attempts to use Shadow End, but its paralysis kicked in.

"Yes. Entei's paralysis kicked in," Wes said. "Keep it up!" Hitmontop keeps using Triple Kick onto Entei, dealing some damage. Hitmontop keeps on doing it.

"Wes, I think it's time to snag Entei!" Rui said.

"I think you're right," Wes agreed. He took out an Ultra Ball and converted it into a Snag Ball. He threw it. Entei flowed right inside it. The Ultra Ball violently wobbles around and around. It kept on going until stars swirls around the Ultra Ball, confirming the catch. Wes's Pokémon Box goes off asking him if he wants to keep Entei with him. He sends Entei over to his ride. Dakim roared in anger.

"You meddlesome pest!" Dakim roared. He angrily glared at Wes. "The way you handled those Pokémon with your audacious skill… Who are you?"

"Someone who just stopped you from ruining Mount Battle for Team Shadow," Wes said.

Skrub and a female Team Shadow peon came running to the tenth platform.

"Master Dakim!" Skrub said. Dakim turned to face Skrub.

"Ah, Skrub. You were hopelessly outclassed against him. You had zero chance of winning. And he used the Shadow Hitmontop that was given to you against me!" Dakim exclaimed in anger. Skrub shivered in fear.

"Master Dakim... I..." Skrub stammered.

"Never mind that! I'm pulling out for now. You go to Ein's Lab and help out there," Dakim said.

"As you wish, sir," Skrub said as he and the female Team Shadow peon fled. Dakim resets his attentions on Wes and Rui.

"This isn't over yet. Stronger Pokémon are being made even now. You'd better get serious about training your Pokémon for our next meeting," Dakim said, laughing. He jumped off the platform. Rui saw something on the platform. It turns out to be a disc.

"Wes, look. He dropped something," Rui said. Wes picked it up. "What do you think it is?"

"I don't know, but we'll figure it out later," Wes said, putting the disc in his pocket. He and Rui went over to the injured man and helped him up.

"Are you alright?" Rui asked.

"Yeah, thanks to you. Ow, that wasn't an experience I'd ever want to have again. I'm glad you came to my rescue. Thank you," the man said.

"You're just lucky we came along when we did," Wes said.

"Really lucky. I'm Vander. I'm Area Leader here at Mount Battle," Vander introduced himself.

"I'm Rui and this is Wes. We're glad to see you!" Rui said.

"Just how did you get here so fast and drive them away?" Vander asked.

"Duking contacted us. You see, Team Shadow, the people who attacked you are creating Shadow Pokémon by making them close the doors to their hearts, making the darkness in their hearts so much stronger. So Wes is wearing a Snag Machine to snag the Shadow Pokémon from those people and purify them. We don't exactly know how many of them there are, but we're doing what we can to prevent the Shadow Pokémon from covering this world in total darkness," Rui explained. Vander stroked his chin.

"Hm. What you've told me explained a lot. Thanks to you, I know exactly why they attacked us," Vander said. He took out a wooden flute with Celebi's color scheme. "This is the Time Flutem I happened to find it while I was on my training trek. It's said that the Time Flute will summon Celebi. However, you can only use it when you're in complete range of the Relic Stone." Wes took the Time Flute. "There must be something about Celebi that frightens them. They obviously don't want Celebi to encounter Shadow Pokémon."

"Celebi has the power to pacify the darkness, and they'll do anything to meet their goals," Wes said.

"You've said it. But let's not spend any more time here. Let's go back," Vander said.

They returned to the lobby. Mount Battle was back to the way it was before Team Shadow attacked everything.

"Before we go, are you certain? May we really have something this precious?" Rui asked.

"Of course you may. I'd rather have you use that Time Flute than have those crooks take it by force," Vander said.

"He's right, Rui. It'll be a whole lot safer with us than in Team Shadow's hands," Wes said.

"I agree. Use it, and save the Shadow Pokémon from their sinister plans," Vander said. "By the way, you two seem to have fighting that gang for a long time. You should come here for training, then. It will toughen you up much, much more. I have tonwarn you, though. If you come up against me, I won't ease up one bit."

"I wouldn't want you to. When we do come here and train, I'm expecting a hard battle from you and the other Trainers going forward," Wes said.

"That's what I wanted to hear. I'll be waiting!" Vander said.

"Now, let's get back to Agate Village and put the Time Flute to the ultimate test," Wes said. Rui agreed and they returned to their vehicle. They rode back to Agate Village and returned to the Relic Stone. He took the Great and Ultra Balls and he let them both out. "Well, here goes nothing. He plays the Time Flute. The sound that came out sounded beautiful and melodious. Celebi then appeared and circled around Hitmontop and Entei, purifying the both of them. Hitmontop and Entei were no longer Shadow Pokémon. "It worked."

"Just like Vander said," Rui said.

"Yeah. Even when we have the Time Flute, it's still going to be much harder going on ahead, so we gotta be ready for any Shadow Pokémon coming our way," Wes said.

"Yes. And we'll do it together," Rui said, taking Wes by the arm. Wes blushed and he smiled.

"Yeah..." Wes could only say.

Now that Team Shadow had been cleared from Mount Battle, and Hitmontop and Entei have been purified with the combination of the Time Flute and the Relic Stone, the mission up ahead will become more intense than ever. Wes and Rui may have won the battle, but it was a war they cannot afford to lose.
