Chapter Two
Captain Lee Crane's apartment just outside the Nelson Institute. He had been waiting for his girlfriend Melanie from the Nelson Institute to have dinner together. He had cooked an Italian meal for a change. Meanwhile, he had been watching the Summer Olympics on the cable while taking a sip of his red wine.
Sitting on the three-piece grey couch when he heard the front door open to be his girlfriend Melanie working at the Institute as part of the communications center. She had picked up a salad from a local grocery store for their dinner.
However, their dinner will be interrupted by a courier to be knocking on the door within the next 20 minutes.
Lee and Melanie haven't talked all that much during the dinner. Since she had felt that Lee had something on his mind. His hair was almost grey now, while Melanie had colored hers to keep the grey away. She will be turning 60 in a few days.
She looked over at Lee. When she heard the door knocking. "I will get it, Lee." She says in a soft tone of voice.
He was waiting to see just who would be the person interrupting their dinner. He was able to hear voices as Melanie escorted the young courier with a memo for Captain Lee Crane.
"Who is it, Melanie?" he had asked calmly taking his last sip of his red wine.
"Sir, I am from the Institute with a memo. I am afraid to say this Captain that you're needed back as quickly as possible once you're able to read the memo." Jay age 19 years old will hands the Captain into his firm hands to read.
He placed his reading glasses sitting on the dinner table. He began to read as he was making several noises.
"What is it, Lee?" Melanie sitting had been concerned for her boyfriend of almost seven months.
Placing his reading glasses onto the table to turn to the courier. "I will pack quickly and just let Admiral Nelson that I will be there shortly," Lee announced with his comment, making Melanie unhappy.
"Thank you, Captain, I will let Admiral Nelson know since he's on the way back from Washington, D.C. after seeing General Lewis." Jay had a high-security rating for having to be a courier for the Nelson Institute.
Now that Jay had left Crane's apartment. It was now time for Lee and his girlfriend to pack his things quickly for the Seaview.
She didn't like the fact that she was going to be alone once again while she is working at the Institute. She had no idea just how long the Seaview will be gone for the mission.
The both of them were silent for the most part. Though Captain Lee Crane didn't really know what he was going to say to his girlfriend. The past few months they had been getting emotional and physically together. But she always had something to say to Lee Crane regarding his past relationships including his only wife lasting ten years before divorcing due to feeling abandoned all of the time.
However, she decided only to kiss him goodbye for now. She pushed herself up to him having only to be five feet five inches. "Best of luck Lee, I do hope the Seaview and your crew will be able to find the problems in the North Atlantic.
Bending his head down slightly in order to kiss the woman wearing light pink lipstick and black mascara, along with a light shade of pale blue for shadow. "Don't worry Melanie. Everything is going to be alright." He tells her with a somewhat passionate kiss before breaking it off with the both needing to catch their breaths.
It was at this point. He will pick up his things from the large queen size bed that the both of them brought with the start of their relationship.
She would watch him leave his apartment inside the N.M.R.I., while she had the dinner dishes that needed to be washed and put away.

SEAVIEW
Commander Charles Morton had arrived earlier on board the Seaview while making sure all of the supplies needed will be arriving on time. However Chief Francis Sharkey had sent a message that he was on his way to the Seaview after finishing up an errand with his own family.
Chief Sharkey had been serving on board the Seaview for a long time after serving three tours with the Navy mostly. He had decided to change professions to serve on board the Seaview.
Commander Morton had received a full update on all of the personnel on board and arriving for this special cruise to the North Atlantic. He had no idea just what it might be causing all of the problems.
He had been standing behind Kowalski arriving earlier while making sure that his radar and sonar equipment were working proper. Patterson was in the reactor working with two others making sure that the reactor was in order before leaving port.
Morton looked at his notes in his hands while walking away from Kowalski to head for the plotting table. Commander Anderson age 45 years of age had been keeping things in order. He will say the following to Commander Morton.
"Sir, Admiral Nelson is going to be here within the hour after arriving at the private airport with his wife Sylvia" He will tell him with a frown showing on his face.
"Thanks, Commander. Are you worried about something when it comes to this cruise?" he asked nicely trying not to spook the commander.
With the shake of his brownish hair and his hand over it for the moment. "Not worried, Chip, I am just concerned that the personnel on board there will be tension. Since they had no idea just what the hell was going to happen. Over the past five years we have encountered several strange situations and U.F.O.." he responded.
"How well I know it! Chris. I just hope to God that Admiral Nelson and Captain Crane will be able to figure it out." He tells him with a smile before moving away from the plotting table.
