Naletri Major is currently an Imperial World, but it was not always so. Millions of years before, it was a world of the Satimor Empyre. The Satimor were an advanced species that had mastered space travel before mankind had evolved enough to walk on land. By the time of their fall during the Enslaver Plague, they were advanced enough to flee the Milky Way altogether. They took most of their knowledge, technology, and even cities with them, not leaving anything to show they existed except for one thing.

The civilization on Naletri Major was attacked before it could complete its exodus, forcing the world's warriors to fight against the Warp-born invaders. Each warrior had an array of technology that, to the galaxy today, would seem like magic. Still, these brave warriors died to a man to give their people a chance to escape. Even in death, they fought on. When their hearts stopped, their wargear kept their bodies moving long enough to latch onto an Enslaver and release a small antireality blast that would wipe them both from existence.

During this final stand, one warrior lost a hand before meeting his demise. This warrior was a part of his race's nobility and wore a ring that signified his status as a member of the royal family. The ring was more than just a status symbol, however. It was a device of power that served many purposes, from personal protection to medical treatment to travel to combat. Though the noble's flesh and bone turned to dust long ago, the ring, which is made of metal that can withstand a supernova, survived.

It was long buried by the time human settlers came to the world and raised their cities. The chances of it ever being found are so small not even a Tech Magos would be able to calculate them. But in this galaxy of war and horror, nothing is impossible. In the Underhive of Hive City Casteradon, a fifteen-year-old boy named Nyth Holyghast, who has never known anything but the violent fight for survival in the gang and mutant-ridden underhive, makes a discovery that will change his life forever. Firstly, by helping him to keep living it.

Nyth sprints through the tunnel streets of the Underhive as members of one of the flesh-eater gangs give chase. Nyth, who hadn't eaten in five days, had been stupid and despite enough to sneak into the territory of the Crispers with his friend Rash to try and still, something they could sell in the bazaar for enough to buy some Ratdog burgers. Things were going according to plan until one of the gang's ratdogs caught their scent. Nyth had managed to escape while Rash's screams and the murderous laughter of the gang chased him. Now, hours later, they are still on his ass.

No one he passed along the way would help him or shelter him. No one is dumb enough to help anyone the Crispers have put on their menu. Not wanting to join them on a spit over a chem fire. Nyth's vision blurs grey as his tired, unfed body begins to fail him, and he doesn't see that the abandoned tunnel he is running down has a sharp curve until he steps out into the air. His world becomes pain as he rolls down the junk hill, breaking his arm, leg, and multiple ribs on metal and stone before he hits the bottom, cracking his skull.

Weak and broken, his will to survive is so great that he manages to drag himself into an alcove before his body fails him. As he lies there, dying in the darkness, a glimmer of light catches his attention. Nyth has never believed in the God-Emperor. If He On Earth truly protected anything, it wasn't underhive trash like Nyth Holyghast, just like it hadn't protected his mother while she rotted inside out from underpox. Still thinking He had come to take the pain away, Nyth reaches for the light, and his hand closes around a ring older than his entire species and most others in the galaxy. Then, he blacks out, never expecting or truly wanting to wake up again.

In the darkness of oblivion, he hears a voice.

"DNA pattern not recognized. Previous wearer confirmed terminated. World scan complete. No other Satimor of the Ixa'lor dynasty found. Calculating. New wearer accepted. DNA sync and mental lock complete. New wearer in critical condition. Activating Total Heal. Total Heal complete. New wearer's body is in poor physical condition. Activating DNA Remapping. Remapping is complete. Now, awakening Nyth Holyghast, wearer of Noble Bond Aza. Rise, my master."

Nyth's eyes snap open.
