A few days later
Kellie walked inside the house with the kids to find Spencer laying on the couch as if he was wasting away.
"It's about time you got home," Spencer said, getting up off the couch.
"Spencer," Alyssa said, running to hug him.
"Good to see you too, Lyssa," Spencer said, hugging her back.
"What's he doing here?" Jared asked.
"Now is that anyway to greet your favorite cousin," Spencer smirked.
"Favorite cousin my" Jamie started say.
"Jamie," Kellie said in warning,
"I'm wounded," Spencer replied, "Grandma Laura told me I had an open invitation to show up here unless that's not true. Then I'll leave."
"Would you like to stay for dinner?" Kellie asked.
"If you insist," Spencer said.
"I insist," Kellie said, "I might just have to tell the guards not to let you leave."
"I'll tell Uncle Franny he's not allowed to leave until after dinner," Alyssa said.
"Jared, Jamie, Alyssa," Kellie said, "Homework first then you can hang out with Spencer."
"Homework later," Jamie said, "After Spencer leaves."
Kellie gave Jared a look.
"Alright homework it is," Jamie said.
"Upstairs," Kellie said, "Homework now."
Jared, Jamie and Alyssa went upstairs grumbling.
"Snack, Mama, Snack," Kelsey said, tugging Kellie's hand.
"I think that's a great idea," Spencer said, scooping Kelsey up, "What kind of snack do you want?"
Kelsey giggled as Spencer took her into the kitchen, "Cookies."
Kellie followed. Spencer set Kelsey on counter and then began opening cupboards looking for cookies while Kellie went to the pantry and pulled some napkins and a container of donut holes and covered in powdered sugar out and set it on the counter.
"Two donuts holes for you, Kelsey," Kellie said as she opened the container. Kellie gave Kelsey two donut holes and a napkin while Spencer looked back and forth between Kellie and the donut holes.
"You remembered that…" Spencer started to say and then stopped.
"That you really like the powdered sugar donuts holes even though you will probably deny that with every ounce of your royal breathe," Kellie said.
Spencer launched himself at Kellie and hugged her. Kellie was surprised but hugged him back.
"Thank you," Spencer said, "Not just for the donut holes, but coming after me in Greenland."
"Anytime," Kellie said, "Although I didn't actually go after you myself."
Spencer composed himself and released Kellie from his hug.
"I don't know exactly what you did," Spencer said, "But Grandmother heavily implied that you did something to help rescue us in Greenland. Although the WSB seems to be completely oblivious to you having any involvement."
Kellie shrugged, "Did you expect anything less?"
"You are known for some spectacularly crazy plans," Spencer said, "That have attracted attention."
"Sorry to disappoint you, but it was better we didn't attract attention," Kellie said, "All I did in Greenland was provide back up and rescue support until the WSB showed up. Then we made ourselves scarce."
"Seriously, why won't you teach me your ways," Spencer said, "It would totally take my genius ideas up a level."
"You mean schemes," Kellie said, "And I won't because it would be irresponsible of me to encourage that kind of behavior."
"But you're teaching Kristina how to run a casino and who knows what else?" Spencer replied.
"She's running her own legitimate casino," Kellie said, "with my investment and some of my experience. In all honesty, her mentoring comes from my casino manager. There's nothing else going on there."
"If you say so," Spencer mumbled.
"What was that?" Kellie asked.
"Nothing, just that I shouldn't let these donuts holes go to waste," Spencer said, stuffing his face with a couple of powdered donuts. Kelsey giggled at the powdered sugar left on Spencer's face.
Kellie looked skeptically at Spencer.
"I can watch Kelsey if you want to make sure the others are actually doing their homework," Spencer said, "I'm sure Jared is, but Jamie and Alyssa. They would try to evade homework."
"She does not need any more powdered donut holes," Kellie said.
"Of course," Spencer said.
"I mean it," Kellie said as she left the room.
"Go," Spencer said.
Kellie was out of sight and then smiled as she watched Spencer give Kelsey another donut hole.
"Don't tell your mom," Spencer said, eating another donut hole.
