"Doctor Luan Is Here".
As soon as Lucy woke up in her room she knew that something was off. She felt hot, achy and fatigued, her throat was a bit sore and scratchy.
"I feel awful" she thoguht and wondered what caused it, she thoguht again and the realized something.
"I wonder if it's because of what happened last night."
She and the rest of the mortician's club just left the graveyard after a meeting when it had began to rain. While the other members of the club had their parents pick them up Lucy knew that wasn't an option for her. Her father need vansilla to drive to meet one of his suppliers for "Lynn's table." She would need to walk all the way home. She remembered Haiku and her mother offering to drive her back home but she had refused, thinking that she would be ok. For a while she was, the rain was a mere drizzle and she had small umbrella with her.
However soon the rain and wind picked up and her umbrella was blown away. She had tried to chase after it but it as moving too fast and she couldn't keep up. She made the decision to forget the umbrella and just go home. As continue to walk the rain got heavier and heavier and she started to run for her house. When she finally got to the front door she was soaking wet and tired. She went to change clothes. When dinner time had come she felt better and she had hoped that nothing had come of her time spent in the rain
" so much for that" she thought "I got to go tell mom and dad that I'm not felling…oh DARN IT!" she had realized what today was the day was going to be. Being from such a large family with diverse interests Rita and Lynn insisted that they spend time together as a family to reinforce the bond they had. One way of doing this was that about once a month the entire family would go to see a movie and then out to dinner. Today was that day.
"I can't be sick today!, maybe I'll feel better if I get up!" She got up from her bed and walked to the bathroom, luckily for her the rest of the family was already downstairs. She brushed her teeth and then went down to have some breakfast. As she walked past the living room she saw that Lincoln, Lana, and Lola were watching some cartoons.
"morning lucy" Lincoln said
"morning" he replied in a hoarse voice, something she KNEW was a mistake after she did it.
Lincoln sensed something was wrong with her and asked, "you sound different are you feeling ok?"
Lucy smiled "I'm fine Lincoln probably just hungry1"
She did converse him .
"Lucy you don't sound find… Mom, Dad!"
"DANG IT Lincoln!" Lucy KNEW that he was only trying to help but did she didn't want anyone to find out.
"What is it Lincoln" came Lynn's voice and a second latter he and Rita walked into the room
"I think lucy is sick."
Lynn and Rita turned to Lucy
"Lucy are you sick?" Rita asked
Lucy shook her head "I'm fine mom just hungry."
Once again she failed to be convincing
"all the same I think we need to take your temperature" rita said
"But…"
"No buts, young lady" Lynn told her
Lucy sighed "Fine"
Rita got the thermometer and placed it under Lucy's tongue and a minute later it reviled what they had already known
'100 degrees, yep your sick alright" Rita announced
"eww! get away from me, I can't afford to be sick in pageant season!" Lola said
"LOLA!" came the voices of her father and mother before they turned their attention back to lucy
"Go back to bed and rest kid" Lynn said
"But dad what about the movie tonight"
They both had sorry looks on their faces
"Sorry honey but you can't go out, we can't let this spread or have you get worse, you're' just going to have to…"Rita started
"Don't say it"
"stay home" she finished
"But..."
"No lucy please go back to bed now"
Lucy knew that was not point in arguing anymore so muttered out "ok" before marching back upstairs
"So I guess one of us will have to stay home with Lucy tonight" Rita said
"And have the other be alone with 10 kids?!" Lynn exclaimed.
"What chose we have Lynn? lucy can't stay home by herself in this condition.
"I could watch her" Came Luans voice
"Luan you…would be willing to do that?" her father asked
She nodded
"but what about the movie, wont your rather see it?" Rita asked
Luan smiled "oh don't worry Benny and me were plaining on going to a movie for our next date so you can just tell me what you saw and that's we he and I will see."
"Are you sure about this Luan?"
"Mom I've babysat for other kids and my younger siblings before. I can handled it, besides like dad said both of you are going to need to be there to handle the remainder of us kids"
"HEY!" the rest of the sibling shouted out in unity
"Well, if you are sure ok then" Lynn said
"Thanks a lot honey" Rita told her
"Goodbye see you all latter" Luan said as the family drove off
"Ok time to check on lucy" she then went upstairs to do so
"Lucy? I'm coming in." she announced at the door of her and Lynn's room
As she entered the room she lucy lying on her bed she wasn't asleep and had a frown on her face
"Hey lucy the rest of the family is gone so it's just us two now."
Lucy did not respond
"Lucy I know you are upset about not being able to go to the movies but this is for the best, you know what right"?
Lucy sighed "Yeah but I still don't like it."
"That's fine…are you hungry I can make you something if you want"
"No, I'm good" Lucy said but was undercut by a rumbling from her stomach
Laun laughed "Ha! Looks like your stomach disagrees with you!, so what do you want?"
Lucy thoguht for a second "Well mac and cheese sounds good."
"Say no more ill make some up and bring it to you ASAP"
"…Thanks, Luan."
"No problem."
Luan went to the kitchen to make the mac cheese. Her father, being the talented chef he was, never had bought the prepacked stuff (1), it was always homemade. Luckly he was more than willing to show her and her siblings how to make it in cases like these.
Luan first got a medium pot out and filled it about halfway with water, then turned on the gas and set it to low heat and put the pot on it. As the water was Boling she got out a box of macaroni and measured the amount she needed to make for a serving. She also got out the milk and shredded cheddar cheese to make the sauce. She heated the mild in a small sauce pan and when it was hot she put the cheese in it to melt it. With the sauce done she boosted the heat on the water pot to medium and as soon as came to a rolling boil she carefully put in the macaroni. A few minutes later the pasta was soft so she drained the water and added the cheese sauce to the pot, put some of it on a bowl, pored some milk in a glass, put both on a tray and carried it to Lynn's and Lucy's room. When Luan entered the room lucy was sitting on her bed, she walked over and set the try down on her lap and lucy began to eat.
"This is good, thanks Luan"
"Like said before no problem."
After Lucy had, she paused to think then said, "Hey Luan….can you tell some jokes?"
Luan was taken back, "Wow, she never asks me to tell jokes, she must be really out of it! well I'm not gonna pass up this opportunity!"
"Sure lucy"
"Ok think what kind of jokes would she like, you know she's into ghost and vampires and…THAT IT!"
Luan cleared her throat
"What's a vampire's favorite fruit?, Neck-tarine."
Lucy gave a small smile
"Yes! Ok let keep this going!"
"Why don't vampires eat cows? They don't like stakes."
Lucy let out a chuckle
Why did the ghost feel embarrassed? He had a boo-ger."
Another chuckle
"Why are ghosts bad liars? Because you can see right through them."
Lucy really stated to laugh
Luan then let out a sting of jokes
"Why don't vampires get invited to parties? They're a pain in the neck."
"Where did the ghost go for a European vacation? Boo-dapest."
"Why aren't vampires very self-aware? They can't reflect."
"What's a ghost's favorite type of makeup? Mas-scare-a."
"What do vampires use to power their flashlights? Bat-teries."
By this point Lucy was howling with laughter
Luna smiled "Ok that's enough of that how about I juggle for you?"
Lucy nodded her approval
Luan went to her room, got out serval juggling balls, came back and started
First it was just three, then four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten! They balls were moving so fast that Lucy couldn't tell where they all were! in a finish move Luan somehow managed to put a ball between each of her fingers, and the final two in her palms!
Lucy applauded her elder sister performance!
Luan bowed and said, "Thank you, thank you!"
Then lucy asked "Hey….I have a new graphic novel want to read it together?"
While normally Luan would touch anything Princess Pony related, she felt that she couldn't disappoint lucy, especially when she wasn't feeling well. With a smile Luan simply said "Sure!"
Lucy moved over to make room for her on the bed and Luan laid beside her.
"So how do you want to do this?" Luan asked
"Let each take turns reading a page" lucy answered
"Ok do you want to go first?"
Lucy nodded
"The Sun was shining brightly as Princes Pony woke up and…."
An hour later Luan was take one of her turns to read
"So princess pony told the big bad bear that she knew where his honey pot was" the page ended there.
"ok lucy it's your turn."
She got no response.
"Lucy didn't your hear me I said it's your turn?"
Still no response
Luan turned to look at Lucy as she said "Lucy its…." Then stopped at the sight beside her.
Lucy was fast asleep, her head on Luan's shoulder, her left arm grabbing Luan's right and a smile on her face
Luan tried to break free but lucy grip was too strong!
"Well, I guess I won't being going anywhere any time soon"…. She began to feel tired as well "Might as well get comfy, I'm sure I'll be able to get away…in…no…time"
She was asleep within five minutes
A few more hours later the rest of the family returned home
"Man, that was such a great movie!" Lorii said
"Yeah I cried when the main actor came back to stop his love interest's wedding!" Leni said
While the females were happy Lynn Sr. and Lincoln were…less so
"I still wish we had seen that action movie instead." Lincoln said and his father nodded his agreement
"Oh, stop being sore losers we voted on it and we won fair and square" Lola announced
Lincoln scoffed at this
"There were eight of you vs two of us how is that Fair?! And you all just said that Lilly voted for the romance movie!"
"Oh, calm down you two seeing one so called "chick flick" won't hurt you!" Lisa told her brother and father
While the two accepted this logic Lynn sr quietly whispered to his son
"I say we go see that action movie this weekend."
Lincoln nodded "Got it I'll starting thinking of an excuse for us to be out."
Lynn jr yawned," Whatever I'm going to bed! See you all in the morning!
Rita yelled out "Wait Lynn Lucy still sick!"
"….So?"
"so, we can' let you potentially get sick too!"
"Mom I'll be fine"
"All the same just wait until your father and I check on her and Luan ok?
Lynn could only nod "Fine but I'm coming too!"
The rest of the siblings voiced agreement. The rest of the family then went up to check on Lucy and Luan, they approached the door the Lucy's and Lynn's room
"Luan?...Lucy" Rita called out and opened the door what she saw warmed her heart and the rest of the family was similarly moved, they let out a group "Aww."
Both girls were fast asleep, Lucy was snuggled up to Luan, her said still on Luan's shoulder , Luan had her head rest lightly on lucy's, and they both had smiles on their faces.
Rita then shock her head and whispered, "We can't disturb them now."
Luna nodded " Yeah come on Lynn looked like your rooming with me tonight."
Lynn nodded "Fine I'm but checking Luan bed for traps!"
With that the rest of the family left to go prepare themselves for bed, the last two to leave were Rita and Lynn sr. Lynn got out his phone and took a picture of the adorable sight.
He said, "Come on honey let's let them sleep, I'm sure they both earned it."
Rita smiled Yeah" then closed the door.
Luan and Lucy remained how they were through the entire night.(3)

1 I think you all know what brand I'm talking about (it comes in a blue box); I just can't imagine that Lynn would use that stuff when he can make it home-made.
2 I know that me describing the whole process at least borders on tedious but I needed a way to pad out the story a bit
3 I realized when checking this that Lynn bed was open for her to sleep in but her not doing so just seemed cuter to me
