And here we are in April! I promise you guys, this isn't an April Fools' joke, this is a real chapter! You guys have been so great about giving me feedback and such kind comments! We're finally at the end of the Sports Festival, and it'll be leading us into the Internship Arc, which I'm really excited for!
So without further delay, please enjoy the chapter!
"And presenting the medals to our top three finalists is none other than-"
"I AM HERE!" All Might bellowed as leapt down, landing in a three-point position.
"All Might!" Midnight finished, having had her announcement interjected early by the number one hero's arrival. As they apologized to each other, Izuku and Rebecca looked on with bittersweet smiles. Though they lost the opportunity to stand proud in front of their class and receive medals, they were glad that the person who won was their friend.
"Hey, you guys know where Iida took off to?" Mina asked, getting their attentions. It turned out that the Engine Quirk had to leave on account of his brother being admitted to a hospital for injuries he received during his hero work. He was heading there now.
'Iida...' Izuku uttered inwardly with concern.
"Now to kick things off!" All Might declared, walking up onto the stage and approaching both Homura and Shoto with the bronze medal in his hands, "Young Kogetsu and Young Todoroki," he began to the two students who were tied for third place, "congratulations," he said, "You proved your strength and valor all the way to the semifinals," he noted, "And you both fought each other so courageously," he added, "Don't feel ashamed of being unable to continue," he insisted of them, "You both did tremendously," he stated, handing the medal over to the Half-Cold, Half-Hot Quirk user.
"Thank you, All Might..." he said in gratitude, "If it weren't for Midoriya and Kogetsu... I don't think I would've grown, even if I did win," he admitted, clutching the medal in his left hand, "I still have a long way to go," he added in confession.
"Well, I won't pry for details," the number one hero assured leaning over to embrace him gently, patting his back, "but it seems you're going to figure things out from here," he noted.
"Yeah," Shoto replied.
"And you, Young Kogetsu," All Might started to say to the Soul Blade Quirk user, getting her attention, "I saw your compassion shine through in your battles today," he pointed out as he leaned over to embrace her as well, "Valkyrie would be very proud of you," he mentioned.
"Thank you very much, sir," she said in gratitude, "I shall not mention that you smell quite sweaty..." she mumbled out, followed by blinking in realization, "I-I do apologize!" she immediately stammered out, bowing politely, "I speak my mind far too often..." she noted sheepishly. Shoto stifled a chuckle as he smiled at her. He then looked at the bronze medal.
"Hey, Kogetsu..." he said, getting her attention, "you should take this," he insisted, handing the award to her as she blinked in surprise, "You've earned it more than me," he pointed out. The Soul Blade Quirk user was shocked for a moment, but then smiled.
"My name is Homura, Shoto," she corrected to his astonishment as he blinked, "And I'd prefer we share this medal as a reminder of what we accomplished," she added in admittance, "In fact..." she continued, readying an energy blade as the red-glowing lines appeared upon her arms. She slashed the medal cleanly in half, taking one end for herself, "I'd say this should work," she assumed. The Half-Cold, Half-Hot Quirk user was a little surprised, but then grinned, holding up his half of the medal with pride.
"HAHAHAHAHA!" All Might laughed heartily, "Now that's a wonderful show of sportsmanship!" he remarked. He then moved over to Katsuki, who seemed... a lot less annoyed about being in second place than anyone would've thought he'd been.
"Did he... mellow out all of a sudden?" Weisz wondered aloud.
"He did take a pretty hard hit to the head..." Hanta noted in remembrance.
'No, that's definitely not it...' Izuku concluded through his thoughts as he looked up at his rival being addressed by All Might before being given the silver medal, which he held with frustration lingering in his eyes, 'He's upset because he knows... he still isn't the strongest person in class,' his rival realized, 'At least, that's what he's thinking...' he assumed through his thoughts.
"And last but certainly not least, Young Granbell!" All Might exclaimed as he approached the Satan Gravity Quirk user, "I'll admit, even I was caught off guard to see your Gravity Comet!" he confessed, holding up the gold medal, "I knew Ziggy well back before I became Number One myself," he pointed out while putting the medal over Shiki's head, "He'd be proud to see just how far you've come," he mentioned with a bright smile and a thumbs up.
"Thanks, All Might!" the Satan Gravity Quirk user responded, having his own shining grin, "My grandpa always told me that I should cherish the friends I make," he noted in remembrance, holding his gold medal in his right hand and staring at his reflection in it, "And I fought for them today," he mentioned, followed by leaping off of the stage to everyone's surprise. He ran over to his classmates, wrapping his arms around Ochaco and Rebecca's shoulders, pulling them in close as they yelped in surprise. "This victory's for all of us!" he declared happily. The girls laughed with him, as did everyone else.
"Tsk..." Katsuki scoffed in annoyance, while Homura and Shoto smiled. All Might grinned at the sight.
'The future of heroes looks rather bright, doesn't it?' he noted inwardly, staring up at the partly cloudy sky.
Two days off were given to the students of UA to recuperate from the festival. And as such, everyone had time to kill. Rebecca was content, playing video games as her pet cat slept upon her bed next to her. She paid close attention to her character on the screen, shooting down enemies as quickly as she could. However, she found herself getting ambushed from behind by an enemy, thus resulting in a 'GAME OVER'.
"Aw, darn..." she muttered, sighing as she took off her headphones. She then heard her phone buzz. She reached over to see the message that came up. It was from Izuku.
Izu: Hey
Did u talk to Witch yet?
Blinking in surprise, the Leaper Quirk stared at the question for a moment. After the Sports Festival, she felt the need to talk to her former caretaker about what had happened during both the cavalry battle and her match against Maria. To say she had gotten an answer... wasn't entirely the case...
FLASHBACK
"Going back in time?" Witch repeated in surprise.
"Yeah," Rebecca replied with a nod, "It was so vivid to me," she recalled, "I remember getting zapped, kicked, punched..." she listed off, looking down at her legs, "What do you think it could mean?" she asked.
"Hmm..." the Shining Star Hero hummed in thought, "I can't say for certain, but perhaps your Quirk isn't just to give you super speed," she noted, much to Rebecca's surprise, "It could very well be a time-related power..." she mentioned, putting her hand onto her chin.
"A... time Quirk?" the ash blonde-haired girl inferred, looking back down at her legs, "I mean... I could've inherited it from my parents, but... I don't remember a thing about them..." she told her caretaker, who slowly approached her.
"Do not worry, Lady Rebecca," she assured, "I'm sure you'll learn about the nature of your Quirk someday soon," she concluded, causing the Leaper Quirk user to smile a little. Even so, she was concerned. What was the true nature of her power?
END FLASHBACK
Taking a deep breath, Rebecca typed on her phone.
Becca: can I come over tmrw?
need ur help to figure out my quirk
Izu: Sure!
I'd be happy to help!
Rebecca giggled, knowing that her best friend would likely be enthusiastic about helping with anything Quirk-related. And then she thought back to Mina's teasing about him and her being a couple. She blushed a little and sighed.
'I guess he didn't remember the fact that I kissed him...' she noted to herself. Though she was relieved by that fact, she couldn't help but be a little upset. But she shook away those feelings, ready to start a new day.
Laguna's attire consisted of a leather jacket with a key-shaped insignia at the center of it, checkered sleeves, a pair of leather trousers, and his black stilettos. Additionally, he wore a pair of thin, rectangular-shaped earrings. Walking beside him along the street was Kris, who was wearing a dark-colored, light-trimmed sleeveless tank top and matching trousers along with his signature headband and scarf.
"You couldn't be less conspicuous, huh?" the Tears Lover Quirk user inquired to his colleague, getting his attention.
"Let's just get this over with," he insisted in response, "I don't like leaving Kleene alone," he pointed out as he narrowed his eyes. Turning into an alley, the two boys came to a stop.
"So this is the other half o' the Element Four, ey?" one scratchy voice inquired curiously.
"Seem pretty weak from a first look..." another deeper voice noted. Both Laguna and Kris were undeterred.
"Hey, no judging," Drakken's voice chimed in as he stepped out from the shadows with Seth and Diego by his side, "These guys are gonna help us take down one of the top hero agencies in the country..." he pointed out with a smirk.
"Hmph," the scratchy voice of one of the other individuals scoffed, standing up. He was a young man of average height with orange eyes and spiky orange hair. He wore an eyepatch that covered his right eye, a pair of dark-colored fingerless gloves with designs on the top that resembled flames, and a tribal necklace. His only attire consisted of knee-length, dark-colored baggy trousers with white flame prints, suspenders around his upper body in an 'x' formation, and a pair of light-colored boots. "As long as we's gets ta shoot up this damn society, then I'm all for it..." he remarked with a wicked grin.
"Same," the deep voice of the other individual agreed, standing up. He was a tall muscular, humanoid-like being with dark-blue skin, choppy dark-brown hair, and yellow star-shaped eyes. He wore a light-colored, high-collared, sleeveless vest with the kanji letters for 'Land Mass' on the back and striped pants along with a belt that had a mountain symbol and shoes. "Thinking of all those self-righteous heroes I get to torture..." he muttered out, trembling with delight.
"...Gross..." Laguna mumbled out.
"Fie and Daichi," Drakken introduced, "Fire and Earth, respectively," he mentioned, "With you two, they're going to help you take down the IUA from the inside out before we continue to the next phase," he explained to them.
"Understood," Kris replied, while Laguna merely nodded. And like that, plans were being set into motion...
And the stage is starting to get set! I'm really looking forward to showing you all what's ahead for our heroes as we've got 40 chapters left to catch up to! Hopefully, we'll speed through all of them!
Thanks again for all your amazing support!
