Chapter Fifty-Five: Next Project

"So when exactly are we getting an invite?" Kagura placed her hands on her hips petulantly.

Kagome scratched the side of her cheek sheepishly.

This was not how she envisioned her final week at school starting out.

With rumors of their impending marriage flying around, even more reporters than ever were swarming the school and the streets near the Todoroki Estate. They had an endless stream of questions that she had no desire to answer.

On top of that, their own peers were beginning to pressure them for comments on their nuptials. From the location, date, time and even how many guests would be present.

Kagura clearly was not happy about not receiving a formal invite.

"It's not like we're planning anything huge. It's just a get together between our families." Kagome tried to explain.

"I'm assuming that means Kikyou and Inuyasha have gotten their invitations lost in the mail." Her friend rolled her eyes.

Kagome laughed, "As if I'd send them one in the first place." She pressed on, "We're only planning on about ten people total and we're having it at our new house. I just don't want the media getting ahold of the details."

She, Kagura, Kanna, Sango and Fuyumi had been hanging out together recently whenever her schedule permitted it. Ever since the first Sports Festival, she'd maintained a close friendship with the other three girls. She even introduced them to Fuyumi at the start of winter break the first year. They'd since remained close.

"And? We still want to be there to support you guys." Kagura flicked her forehead while Kanna nodded beside her.

Kagome offered them a wry smile, "Oh alright. I'll just let Jaken know. I know we ordered enough food and tables so it shouldn't be a problem. I'll text you guys the address and time later."

Honestly everything had run by her in a blur. There were only a few days left before their graduation and upcoming wedding. Yet she could hardly remember the last time she'd even been able to hang out with her friends.

"You need a spa day." Sango gave her a short smile, "I actually know a place that does some amazing work. I tend to go there whenever my body gets too strained from all the training we've been doing. What do you say we book an appointment to go tomorrow after class?"

Kagome pressed her index finger to her chin thoughtfully.

Their final exams were just about over and her dress had finally been finished, alterations and all. So she'd stored it in one of the guest rooms of Sesshoumaru's manor so that Touya wouldn't be able to catch a glimpse of it accidental or otherwise. She had her nail appointment for the day before graduation and her hair would be styled at the house the day of. Which meant that tomorrow would be her only free day for this week.

Kagome smiled at her in return, "That sounds fantastic."

As promised, she did end up texting her friends the address to her house, the time of her wedding and the fact that it'd just be a casual get together. When she'd arrived home that night, it was to Ohagi rushing out from his cat tower and flinging himself into her arms.

Despite the feline's ferocious attitude towards Touya, it certainly loved all the toys he got him. Ohagi mewled and fussed in discontent, furious at her for leaving him for so long during the day. In the short time since they'd adopted the cat, they discovered that he had a particular dislike towards men. It was possible that it was due to past experiences with them or he could just feel intimidated by them. Regardless Ohagi only seemed to tolerate women and she was the only one he allowed to pet him.

"Who's my little gremlin?" Kagome laughed as Ohagi took hold of her hand and began kicking her palm with his back legs in a gentle 'attack'.

With her free hand, she grabbed her phone and dialed out to her fiancé on a video call. Since Ohagi threw extreme temper tantrums every time they brought him to the estate, they'd opted to simply let him stay with her at the manor under the condition she video chat with Touya every night so he could see their 'son'.

She didn't have to wait long for him to pick up and begin laughing at the sight of their tiny kitten attempting to 'devour' her fingers.

"Looks like you've been captured." Her fiancé gave a hearty laugh.

"Nah, he's my prisoner." Kagome lifted her arm and pulled Ohagi to her chest in a brief cuddle. The kitten gave a contented purr before it leapt out of her arms, darting back to his cat tower. "Aw man, the kitty timer has run out. No more cuddles."

He would be too hyper to hold for a few hours yet. There'd been at least three separate occasions Ohagi had woken up in the middle of the night by pouncing on her legs and chewing on her toes. She was no ashamed to admit that she'd screamed in shock at least one of those times. She'd thought she was being devoured alive as it coincided with a nightmare of a clown crashing her wedding before being swallowed by it whole.

In truth, she was more terrified of the dream than she was the feeling of Ohagi chomping on her feet.

Kagome decided to change the topic, "Sango invited me to go to the spa after class tomorrow, I agreed to go."

She laid down on her bed, laughing slightly as their kitten emerged from his hiding place to clamor onto her back. He took a few strands of her hair into his mouth and tried to chew on it.

"You definitely need the chance to unwind, especially with the gremlin." Touya laughed in response. "I'm surprised you still have hair left with how much he tries to eat it."

Kagome swept her hair to the side, forcing Ohagi to release it momentarily. It wouldn't last long but she was prepared for his second attack.

"Me too," She laughed when the kitten tumbled over her shoulder in search for his favorite 'toy'. "In any case, is everything at the house ready? The last of the furniture should've come in today."

Touya flashed her a wide smile, "I got a text from Jaken about that. Everything is all there and put away just like we discussed. He even had the delivery guys hang up all the wall decorations too."

Now that was going a little far.

She couldn't wait to move in and start their new life together. There were only a few more days left and she couldn't help but feel a tad bit excited about the prospect.

"Hey Touya," Kagome started. "I want to try writing another book but I don't know what to write."

It'd been bugging her for a while. She'd get the urge to write something yet the words would never come. Not the plot nor characters either. Everything just felt sort of blank.

"Well," He started. "You're already writing under a pen name so you can always make a new one to try something different." He then gave a thoughtful look, "If you don't want to do anything too plot heavy then you can try a romance novel. It's like they say, sex sells right?"

Kagome felt her face flush, "There's a huge difference between romance novels and smut."

Plus she had no confidence in her ability to even write a sex scene. She'd never had sex herself so how could she possibly write smut?

Touya smirked, "After this week you'll be able to write it just fine."

She knew she must've resembled a tomato given how loudly Touya laughed after that. Even if she knew what was to come the night of their wedding, that didn't meant that she wouldn't feel flustered by it. She knew that sex was inevitably going to happen and she was looking forward to it. She just felt flustered by the prospect.

"You'll figure out what you want to write when it's time." Her fiancé's laughter subsided, "Don't stress and just wait until the words come to you."

Kagome cast him one last smile, "That sounds good."

Whatever happened, she knew that they would be just fine.
