Revelations 3: The Revolt on God's Servants Part 2

NERV HQ, Command Center, Entrance A

The raining of gunfire shook the air with a rumble as Iori covered his rear, the enemy moving in way faster than he had anticipated. Dropping another four soldiers, he finally made it back to Squad B unharmed, but rattled.

"Captain! You're alive! Where is Squad A?" on if them asked. Iori lit a cigarette, taking a long drag of it before releasing a large haze of smoke.

"I'm all that's left, this isn't a battle we're predicted to win you know," Iori sighed, the men nodding and readying their arms.

"As requested, all personnel have been armed and are ready to hold the line. All the scientist and technicians have shown extraordinary courage in the face of death sir, I believe we stand a chance," he saluted, Iori's eyebrows raising as he took another drag, stomping out the cigarette.

"That's good actually, I'm glad to hear it. The ground forces aren't the only thing we have to worry about however..." Iori replied, going into the stripped out armory to restock what few bullets he could find.

"What else could they possibly throw at us?" Iori sighed at the question, reloading his magazines as the next wave of gunfire rattled the halls.

"N2 mines, nuclear bombs, hell...I wouldn't doubt it if they had Evangelion production units on standby. Don't give up hope though, we must do what we can in the face of hell to protect everyone here. Get everyone ready, the enemy is just around the corner," Iori replied, pocketing as much extra ammunition as he could carry, lighting another cigarette to calm his shaky nerves.

"Yes sir!" the security officer saluting immediately preparing everyone for an all out bullet storm about to hit the HQ CC.

NERV HQ, Major Katsuragi's Company Issued Vehicle

Shinji and Misato were well on their way to the emergency launch elevator, Shinji with a whirlwind of thoughts spooling into a squall as he sat in the passenger seat.

"Are...you OK Shinji?" Misato's voice was genuinely, her gaze intense as she focused on the road, the failed Evangelion experimental parts hanging around like meat on butcher hooks as they flew by.

"Why...are we under attack Misato? What did we do wrong? I thought we were saving the world..." Shinji sighed, his eyes half-lid and lost.

"Outside forces don't trust the amount of power we have still and SEELE, the organization working with us til now are probably the ones behind the attack..." Misato replied, her voice uncertain but filled with firm intuition.

"Did my father...upset them?"

"He is a very difficult person with dangerous ideas, I wouldn't be surprised if he had a hand in it,"

"I want to be mad at him...I want to hate him...but...the way he looked at me when he saved me from those soldiers, it was a face I'd never seen him make before, it seemed...genuine..." Shinji recollected the previous moment, Misato looking over at Shinji and seeing the spark of hope in his eyes.

"Maybe your father is trying to...make amends in his own way, maybe he's trying to seek forgiveness from you and the others he's wronged. It seems unlikely, but fear and the potential gaze into the inevitable changes people Shinji, it can make them do things they'd never do under any other circumstance. My father was that way in his dying moments...perhaps your father is the same," Misato's voice was firm, but their was an abundance of emotion and passion behind her words despite their uncertain delivery, wanting to make sure Shinji clearly understood the meaning. Shinji's eyes widened for a moment before softening, his eyes now gazing into their surroundings.

"That's crazy, it doesn't seem possible...but...I hope you're right Misato...I...want to forgive my father...but I just can't yet, not yet...so... do you think Asuka will be okay Misato? She's on the surface all alone and couldn't even activate her Eva last time, what if she gets attacked?"

"Only she's in control of that now, I hope she's in a good enough state I really do. Despite how she's been acting, you know I care about you both so much right? You two are the family I never knew I needed and...I'm sorry I didn't always show it,"

"It's okay Misato, you did your best and honestly...living with you has been the closest I've felt like being a member of a family, so, thank you for that..." A warm smile graced Misato's face, the light beginning of tears forming in the corners of her eyes.

"Thank you Shinji...that...that means a lot. But we need to harden up, things are about to get very difficult from here," Misato sighed, stomping the gas and hurrying along, Shinji grasping the overhead handle for safety as they zoomed along.

NERV HQ, Prison Block A

Gendo moved with swift caution and vigilance, killing every stray soldier like an assassin as he made his way to Ritsuko's cell. He picked up one of the soldier's P90 assault rifles, picking ammunition off the stray soldiers as he went. He'd never had to do such extreme measures of killing, but he was never one to shy from getting his hands dirty.

"Ritsuko, I'm outside your cell, cover your ears," Gendo shouted from outside the door, blasting the clock with his pistol before manually tearing the door open. Ritsuko was hunched over, her eyes gazing into his with unbridled hatred as she glared.

"Why did you even bother coming here...? You could've easily washed your hands of me by letting the enemy kill you..." Ritsuko growled, Gendo tossing her his pistol and an additional magazine.

"I'm in a transitional period, so I would appreciate it if you came along without a fight," Gendo replied coldly, Ritsuko spitting at the ground as she stood.

"I'm not forgiving you..."

"That's fine, just come with me, we need to get Rei," Ritsuko rolled her eyes and pointed her gun at Gendo.

"Right...and you just expect me to roll over like always while you try to destroy the world like the coward you are...you have some God damned nerve!" Ritsuko barked, Gendo showing zero resistance as he raised his hands to her in protest of his actions.

"If you want to shoot me, I can't stop you...but I have people that still need me...use that gun to defend yourself, I'll leave you to do as you wish. I know...you aren't going to believe anything I say...but...be safe..." Gendo sighed heavily, leaving Ritsuko to her own devices. Her eyes were beginning to fill with enraged tears, feeling like she was trapped in the palms of his hands as again. She gripped the pistol tightly, pocketing the spare magazine ain her lab coat and waited for Gendo to leave before stepping out.

"Arrogant...selfish...bastard..." she growled, running off to parts unknown.

NERV HQ, Command Center

Fuyutski was barking out orders left and right, like a field commander actively directing a battle on the fly as everyone continually shouted updates to the attack. Aoba, Hyuga, and Maya all huddled together in one terminal, all armed and ready for the inevitable as gunfire continued to rattle from Entrance A.

"This is absolutely nerve racking...I'd almost prefer they'd just nuke us and get it over with," Hyuga groaned, his body tense as his stress levels reached a new high. Aoba shrugged his shoulders as he worked at the terminal, checking surveillances to spy on the enemies from the cameras they hadn't yet destroyed.

"The fact that we're sitting on the original MAGI is probably the only reason they haven't yet, though I'm sure things are going to get pretty ugly on the surface soon.

"You don't they're going to bombard us or something do you?" Maya inquired, hiding under the desk, frightened yet determined as she looked at her laptop, keeping eyes on the status of the Evangelion units.

"What, with N2 mines or something?" Hyuga chimed in, and no more than a few moments later, a series of catastrophic explosions shook the entire command center like a massive earthquake, knocking people off their feet and causing computer to crash to the floor that weren't anchored in.

"Hyuga...please shut up..." Aoba groaned, Hyuga a scratching behind his head from the unfortunate prediction. An explosion rang from the side entrance, all of the remaining armed personnel filtering in from the choke point they were holding.

"The soldiers are starting to breach our forces! Release all safeties and prepare for a battle!" the voice of Captain Iori screamed from Entrance A.

"Alright...I can do this...I can do this...I can do this..." Maya changed to herself, trying to shake her fear as she crawled from beneath the counter, readying her Glock.

"I guess it's time to rock and roll! Hyuga, stay on surveillance alright?" Aoba shouted, heading off to the collective forces, fitting his MP5 into his hands.

"Since when was Aoba the brave type of person?" Maya asked, raising an eyebrow at her friends intense change.

"I guess chaos makes us all a little nuts," Hyuga laughed softly as he flipped through surveillance. Hell fire began screaming at the sky as the final fire fight at the entrance began.

Terminal Dogma, Restricted Access Chamber 02

Rei stared up at the white giant known as Lilith, her eyes hazy, her gaze entranced as if engaged in a conversation.

"Child of the Lilim, what troubles you?" a voice entered Rei's mind, feminine and omnipotent, it filled Rei with a strange sense of warmth and comfort.

"I...don't know my purpose...I'm supposed to be a sacrifice to bring about the Third Impact...but I don't want..." Rei replied, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Listen to your heart child of the Lilim, that will tell you your true purpose,"

Quietly standing in the tranquility of the intimidating room, Rei let the sounds of the LCL waves caress her ears, breathing slowly as she listened to her heart for the very first time.
