Oh how the silence of the night created such an atmosphere in the conference hall. Ruby so loved the star lit sky, especially here in the land of darkness where even the stars glowed in a reddish pink hue. Her attention however, was less focused on the twinkling balls of fire and more so on the gentle but firm fingers that ran through her hair, grazing her wolf like ears and causing a growl to emit from deep within her throat. This was not a threatening growl mind you, but a possessive one, a loving one. Similar to how a cat purrs when just the right spot is scratched, Ruby would growl and nuzzle the one showing her such affection.
The girl didn't really mind the stares she got by the other occupants of the room. The only one worthy of her attention at this moment was her mother, Salem, who continued to caress her softly.
"Ahem…" A mustached man cleared his throat, probably hoping to gain the attention of Salem, who much to Ruby's disappointment, did give it. "If we can get back to the matter at hand, I believe we were discussing how to proceed with the situation in Vale?"
Salem remained silent, but only for a moment. Her hand lifted from Ruby's head much to the girl's disappointment and the low whine that sounded from her throat. The great and old alpha Beowolf which laid curled around the back of its mistresses throne lifted its head. Staring intently at Ruby as if scolding her with just its crimson eyes alone.
"Cinder, continue to work with our contacts within the Whitefang… I'm sure Adam would relish in the idea of bringing a kingdom filled to the brim with humans to ruin" The woman mused, in good spirits for all to see.
"It will be done" Cinder bowed her head in acknowledgement of the order, Amber eyes peering down at the girl who desperately clung to the mistress of the night. Judging her in silence was all that she was able to do in this moment, no one dared speak out against the little wolf in fear of incurring her mothers wrath.
"Can I help?" It was surprising to hear Ruby speak, more so when there was a meeting of such importance going on. "Is there something I can do?"
"I suppose there is something I can come up with… you've never been to Vale have you" Salem said, her gaze returning to her daughter.
"No, I've only been here!"
"Is that so? Well how would you like to go there for mommy and take a look around? Be our eyes on the ground so to speak?"
Ruby practically leapt from her mothers arms, thrusting them high into the air as excitement radiated from every cell in her body as she nodded frantically. This was a chance she could not pass up on at all, a chance to go and explore, to help in the plan!
"You'll need to be careful, I would be so worried if something were to happen to you" Salem stood, her hand reaching out to touch her daughter's cheek. A gesture that had two purposes to the woman. One was simple, she did in fact care for Ruby's safety after spending seventeen years raising the girl, training her abilities and guiding her growth down a path that would ensure her survival. Two was more complicated, Salem was manipulative, very manipulative. She drew people in until there was no way for them to untangle themselves from the promises of power, of revenge, of a mothers love.
To Ruby, Salem was the absolute most important person in her life. Someone she could never lie to, never had lied to. This was her mother! She raised her and all Ruby wanted to do was repay that kindness, that generosity and love that Salem had showered upon her. Maybe this was one way she could start?
The passing of a siren shook Ruby away from the memories of days gone past. That meeting had been just days ago, maybe a week? The concept of time was a little weird for her, why didn't everyone just use the seasons to gauge how much time had passed? Still, those events did linger a bit longer on her mind. They were fresh, a turning point in her life, also the last time she would ever be oblivious to the smells and sounds of a city. Having a heightened sense of smell as well as greater hearing was not always the best… Ruby decided it would probably be best if she invested in a pair of nose plugs or even some sound canceling headphones in the future.
Just the massive library of scents that were both subtle and overpowering were more than enough to make Ruby wrinkle her nose in disgust. Everything just smelled disgusting being mixed in the manner that it was. And all the noise! All the noise noise noise noise! Whimpering, she reached up and rubbed her poor aching ears. This was nothing like the land of darkness at all. It was so quiet and peaceful there, the Grimm were soooo much better then these poor foolish creatures that wandered the streets below.
The sweet symphony of the growls and roars of Grimm. All the Grimm that crawled, slithered, and flew, their noises were so beautiful and yet… there were none here. Just a barrage of senseless and seemingly endless random sounds that assaulted Ruby's poor ears.
Sighing a little the wolf girl stood up, her silver eyes scanning the road laying before her as if searching for something she had lost long ago. Of course that was not the case, Ruby was actually just taking in everything in the only manner she knew how, by observing it. These streets, these buildings, even the people, they were nothing like anything she had known previously. Honestly she had almost been expecting everyone to be snotty and rude like Arthur, or a completely crazy person like Tyrian. To find out that people weren't as obnoxious as those two was a breath of fresh air.
Personally she didn't mind those two but they could take some lessons from big sis Cinder. So calm, so cool, so collected! Ruby kinda wished she was like Cinder, but wait! If she was like Cinder, who would be Ruby? Who would get all of moms hugs! Well darn guess Ruby is staying Ruby.
Another sigh broke its way past her lips, the cold cement roof which she sat upon was rather uncomfortable unlike the nice soft beds or warm crystals she was used to. If Ruby had known what Vale was like before she asked to help, she might have maybe rethought that question and stayed at home. Vale was so dirty, trash littered all the alleys and she could hear people rummaging through the dumpsters for any scrap of food. It almost made her want to pity them. Of course she didn't really have time for that, this was the way things were in this kingdom and that's what her mom wanted to fix! To get all the relics and fix the world so everyone was happy!
Finally deciding it was perhaps time to continue her exploration of this great concrete jungle, Ruby dropped from the edge of the roof onto the pavement below. This height was nothing to her, having been thrown off the castle towers before as parts of her training. Those were fun times, the air rushing past her face causing tears to burn up and vanish into the sky. The feeling of the earth cracking beneath her when she finally landed. To Ruby there was almost nothing as thrilling as landing after being thrown into the air.
Humming now as a good mood seemed to settle over the wolf girl she skipped her way over to one of the few stores that seemed to be open at this time of night. That was of course until she ran into the front door, her nose pressed firmly against the glass and the very obvious pull sign.
Blushing just a little bit at her own clumsiness Ruby smiled shyly and pulled the door open before stepping inside. The old man behind the counter just smiled kindly, amused now after a very long and tiring shift. It wasn't unusual for strange individuals dressed in strange ways to enter his shop, after all this was a dust shop. All manner of hunters and huntresses made their way here to purchase dust for their weapons and tools. Still there was something about Ruby he couldn't quite put his thumb on.
"Good evening, is there something I can help you with?" He asked, noticing Ruby's lack of direction and apparent curiosity.
"Hmmm? Oh I'm sorry! I'm just browsing for now! New to Vale and there's so much to see!" She smiled back at him before walking deeper into the store.
"New to Vale you say? Well what brings you here then?"
"Oh I plan on trying to get into Beacon Academy!" At this the old man took a closer look at Ruby, he had assumed her to be a huntress of some sort. Her clothes were all dark in color, well all except for the blood red cloak she wore. The cloak was tattered and frayed near the bottom, worn and used having seen much, the inside was lined with some sort of fur as well, wolf perhaps? Clothes wise Ruby was wearing a dress, dark sleek leather adorned the surface of the cloth, buckled together with silver clasps which highlighted her luminescent eyes. Light armor plates could be seen protecting vital areas, although the old man was a bit confused as to why she had fingerless gloves adorned with metal claws.
"If you're planning on attending Beacon then that must mean you're pretty smart, well there's some guides on Vale in the back if you wanna take a look. They might just be able to help you with navigating the city" Ruby waved her thanks before disappearing behind a shelf, eagerly looking for these guides. Any information that could help her complete the mission set out by Salem was information she would gladly take.
Finding them wasn't very hard, after all it had actually just been a straight shot from the counter to the pamphlets in the back. Her curiosity soon got the better of her and Ruby soon found herself scanning through guides on things that didn't even have to do with Vale. Some were dust guides, a cooking guide popped up at some point. Oh there was a guide on getting blood stains out of your clothes!
Ruby was so happy with this collection of knowledge that the sounds of several approaching individuals actually annoyed her a bit. She had been so content with this setup of silence in her pursuit of knowledge that more people just meant more noise and more noise just meant an ever growing headache. Turning and poking her head around the corner of a shelf Ruby was quite easily able to see five men making their approach from down the street. They were quite strange dressed… although with her experience with her moms… um… friends? Workers? Servants? Well anyways with those people she couldn't judge much on these guys fashion choices.
Still they could have at least chosen something that didn't already match up with Ruby's color scheme, copy cats will exist everywhere she thought to herself. It was either that or they were trying to contrast the middle gentleman with his white outfit and cane. Although his entire choice of style could use just a tiny bit of work. Ruby had to admit that the leader, or presumed leader, was in fact quite noticeable but sometimes being noticed wasn't the best thing. Of course she couldn't really say that as her own clothes kinda made her stand out, especially the red hood and cloak. It was a cloak right? Not a cape? She remembered hearing her mother go on and on about no capes and how they could very well be the downfall of her in certain situations.
Ruby was getting ahead of herself with these thoughts, she had to focus, after all these men were armed with an assortment of melee and ranged weaponry. Mid length swords meant for basic combat or even just for showing off, they were notably sharp however thanks to the glint that seemed to linger on the edge of their blades. The guns were compact pistols, colored to match their outfits and possibly custom made. Probably fired a light round not meant to punch through medium or heavy armor. Something also told her that this finely dressed man in the middle was also armed, maybe his cane was also a sword? Oh that would be so cool! Nothing stood a chance against her Crescent Rose that was for sure, especially weapons such as the ones being held by the presumed henchmen.
Her body shook with excitement as she watched this group finally make their way up to the door and… walk into it. Huh… guess she wasn't the only one who had problems opening doors. Obviously now frustrated the doors were pulled open and the men trapped inside with their weird walking style. It was kind of like a bird strutting, leg over here leg over there, almost seemed as if they were trying to say 'Hey we own the place'. Humans were so weird.
"You know it's so hard to find a Dust shop that's open so late" The lead man's voice was refined, the line flowing from his lips smooth like honey. It was also crisp and had an edge to it, cross him and you would be met with consequences.
"Please don't kill me" The old man pleaded, this drew upon Ruby's heart strings just a little, something that honestly surprised her. He looked like a cowering rabbit in the face of a sneering and clever fox. While she didn't exactly owe him anything and she was here to gather information perhaps testing the combat abilities of these fine specimens would be fun. Just the thought of engaging in such an activity was more than enough for her to begin salivating, a grin splitting across her face.
"Don't worry I don't want your life or your money…" The finely dressed man turns to the others, his tone changing from the pleasantly amused one to a far more businessy one. "Grab the dust"
And so they went to work, tubes were produced specifically designed for holding and maintaining the volatile yet magical dust in a controlled environment. The best way to transport such quantities was in such capsules, they maintained temperature as well as protecting the precious cargo from outside influences. The man who had spoken could be seen collecting fist sized gems, surprisingly the uncut ones…
"Stop right there" Ruby stepped from behind the shelf, striking what she assumed might be a heroic pose. Hands on her hips and her head held high in defiance to the wrongdoings they were doing, she had to play the part of the heroic huntress in training right? Yah to get more info! For mom!
"Hmmm?" The finely dressed man, and his cohorts all turned to look at her before at each other. "Well? Go get her"
"Alright girl, put your hands up nice and easy" One of the other men sighed and leveled his gun with Ruby's face.
"Why are you wearing sunglasses at night?" Everyone paused, the genuine question had broken the robbery into a moment of intense pondering. Why were they wearing sunglasses at night? Red sunglasses that would at best just turn everything red but at worse severely diminish their ability to see.
This moment of intense thought and confusion was all Ruby needed, and intended as she vanished only to be seen drawing her leg back and delivering a devastating kick to the side of his knee. There was a sickening crunch as he screamed, collapsing and grabbing at his leg. His weapon now lying forgotten on the floor.
Ruby ducked as a barrage of bullets slammed into the shelf behind her, reddish black petals drifting softly to the floor as she vanished again. The smile from before had yet to vanish as she materialized again, this time having blasted through the doors and into the cool evening air. Reaching towards her back she felt the familiar cold steel of her weapon, folded up nicely and within easy reach just as she planned.
With a quick spin the weapon unfolded to reveal Crimson Rose. A highly compact sniper scythe capable of taking regular .50 caliber as well as dust infused rounds. Its sleek steel body was designed and infused with some nasty surprises concocted by her, her mother, and mister Arthur himself.
The street was thankfully quite empty, and the sky so beautiful that it almost felt like a crime to spill blood for it to see. Almost felt like a crime. The grin on her face grew wider and wider as she turned to face the remaining criminals, mister fancy front and center. His face concocted into some form of rage and annoyance and yet still oh so perfect and practiced, it was as if he had mastered every expression he could possibly make just so it looked theatrical when he made it. How annoying.
"Four on one? Wouldn't you say that's a little unfair" Ruby called, the wind making her cloak dramatically blow in the wind, as it should. This appeared to strike a nerve with the leader, his henchmen also not exactly pleased seeing as she had demolished their friend's knee in less then a minute.
"Well Red I wouldn't exactly say this trip has been worth it so why don't we just call it here…" The man responded, resting both hands on his cane as he stared down at the girl. The sound of approaching sirens could be heard in the distance, Ruby's wolf ears standing at attention and swiveling towards their oncoming direction.
It would only be a matter of time before the authorities arrived here to apprehend these thieves and possibly Ruby herself for assaulting them. Ah well she could probably break out of whatever cell they put her in rather quickly… hopefully. Oh but then they would have her description on file which could compromise her mission!
Grumbling to herself under her breath, the smile once painted across her face now having fallen. To the thieves it was unsettling, her eyes reflected the moon's light painting them in an almost ethereal yet horrifying image.
"Let's make this quick," She said, bending her knees and lowering her stance. One hand stretched out behind her holding Crescent Rose while the other touched the road in front of her.
"I couldn't agree more" And with that they attacked. Guns cracking and splitting the relatively peaceful silence of a sleeping city with rain of bullets, Ruby ducking and vanishing into clouds of petals only to appear mere feet away swinging her scythe down upon her first opponent. Her vision blurred only for a moment as it attempted to catch up with the sudden acceleration and deceleration of her semblance, but this didn't matter anymore as the jagged edges of Crescent Rose bit into the upper right shoulder of her target.
Blood fountained into the air, mesmerizing to watch however there was no time to appreciate the sparkling gems when there were still more enemies. The man Ruby had attacked wasn't dead or dying, well he might die if he didn't get patched up soon. She had made sure not to apply enough force to split him in two and instead simply created enough of a flesh wound to knock him out of the conflict. Sure it was a bit messy and bits of his flesh still clung to her scythe, yah she could have maybe done this in a more merciful manner however that's not what Mom had taught her. 'Always take them out in the first blow if you can, don't hold back or they will take advantage of you'
Spinning herself around Ruby proceeded to engage in combat with the other henchmen. The finely dressed one was more than a bit nervous as he brought his cane up in defense against the occasional swing directed towards him. The screech of metal against metal caused Ruby to shake her head a bit, the sound was something she hadn't quite gotten used to even with her extensive training.
A deft kick to one man's face before planting the blade of her scythe into the asphalt and swinging on the handle and launching herself towards the other one. The thrill of such close combat was sending shivers up Ruby's spine. Was this why Tyrian was always so… crazy? Energetic? Honestly this feeling was rather addicting. She just hoped that she wouldn't end up like the scorpion man, being that crazy all the time with no off switch would be more of a pain during missions then she would care for.
"Well none of you were worth what I paid for" The finely dressed villain sighed before turning to face his opponent, cane rising until it leveled with Ruby's face. A red ball of energy came shrieking from the opening in the bottom, detonating in front of the girl. She let out a cry of pain as her skin cooked from the blast, her arms taking the brunt of the heat. Blood oozed from cracks that had developed in her arms, dripping onto the street.
Shit she had forgotten to activate her aura during the fight! Ruby cursed at herself internally for being so careless, this street could have easily been her grave had she made just one wrong move.
Anger wormed itself into Ruby's heart, festering and growing as a goal tore its way through her throat. This fury was directed mostly at herself, for foolishly believing that these humans couldn't scratch her. Soon shame drowned the wrath within her, leaving only disappointment.
Lowering her bubbling and sizzling arms the wolf girl looked around, the fancy criminal nowhere to be seen. Of course that was until she heard what sounded like someone climbing a ladder. Activating her aura and channeling it into her arms Ruby attempted to calm her racing heart. Black smoke beginning to curl from her burnt flesh, cooling it before replacing the damaged tissue with new fresh material.
All in all it felt like she was being torn to pieces. Her aura flickering a dark red with streaks of black, faint howls fluttering their way through her mind as she tried to concentrate. The pool of darkness had changed her, extensively, permanently. Much like the Grimm she adored, Ruby could hear the melody of destruction. An ever marching chant that urged her to destroy all that basked in the light of creation, including the races of man.
However, unlike the Grimm, Ruby could ignore it. Or more accurately, it was not loud enough to drive her to constantly work to sate the desire to destroy. There were certain things that could cause the song to become louder, intense negative emotions from those nearby, or Ruby's own emotions. This was kinda the reason she worked constantly to remain in a bubbly attitude. Happy! Humorous! Energetically random. Sadly she was not any of these things right now. The song was getting louder, feeding on her anger, her shame…. Her pain.
The growl from earlier became nothing more than a hurt whine, Ruby's ears lying flat against her head in a futile attempt to block out the noise. She needed to focus on something, anything. Healing! Yah healing! Then it would go away!
It hurt, a lot. Healing was a basic aspect of manipulating one's own aura, that and defending against attacks or enhancing one's own body. Ruby had relied too much on her natural physical strength and abilities that she had neglected to even think about applying her aura as a second layer of defense.
Finally regaining most of her arms motor functions, the red hooded wolf girl angled Crescent Rose down before pulling the trigger, launching herself up into the air and past the rooftop that separated her and her prey. The melody still singing loudly in her ears but it was slowly becoming more bearable as she suppressed her negative emotions. Even if her enemy got away this would be a learning experience, something she could use going forward.
Upon landing on the roof Ruby was greeted by another explosion of red energy. This one however had been aimed a bit too far back to cause as much damage as the last one, and she had her aura up this time.
"Your persistent I'll give you that" The man had been waiting, clearly a very cunning individual but perhaps not the best at hiring muscle as Ruby had been able to deal with them rather quickly. There was a soft buzzing in the distance, steadily growing louder and louder and louder! A Bullhead aerial vehicle swung to a stop near the edge of the roof. Its jets burned red hot as the wolf girl shielded her face from the rush of air.
"End of the line Red!" There was a flash of red, a gem sparkling like a falling star as it spun in the air. There wasn't enough time to dodge, not even enough to activate her semblance! Cracks spreading across the faces of the crystal, energy leaking through and creating a fine mist before finally imploding.
The amount of energy released was staggering, there would have been nothing left of Ruby, there shouldn't be… except when she opened her eyes she could see an array of bright purple glyphs rotating slowly in the form of a circle. The soft click of heels on concrete revealed the caster to be a woman, probably in her thirties, maybe early forties.
What shocked Ruby the most had to be her clothing, every single part of it screamed teacher and not fighter or huntress. It was also rather intimidating to say the least, whoever she was Ruby just hoped that the riding crop she was using as a weapon was never turned on her.
Turning back to the Bullhead she spun Crescent Rose until it folded up into a more compact firing mode. Alongside the woman she began laying down fire onto the quickly retreating man, the riding crop woman using dust to conjure forth a storm cloud of some sort. Dust really was amazing, should look into that later…
One thing stopped Ruby from trying to board the craft, it was a kind of smell that smelled rather smelly however it also wasn't a particularly bad smelly smell like a majority of the city. The scent that she was picking up right now was actually softer? Sweeter? An earthy tony with just a hint of roasted cinnamon. There was only one person that reminded Ruby of cinnamon.
Cinder.
And there she was. Standing proudly as she dueled the huntress in a battle of dust and semblance. Her red dress fit perfectly to her athletic form and her eyes glowed in the shadows of the moon's light.
Ruby's heart ached as she looked upon the one she called sister, it was a lonely feeling of missing one's family. Even if Cinder was a little scary sometimes, she had always gone out of her way to play with Ruby when she was little. Telling her stories of the grand adventures she had planned or how she was going to destroy her old home, burn it into the ground.
Glass shattered against the ground all around Ruby, a few grazing her cheek leaving light scratches soon replaced by new flesh and dark smoke. It hurt, but not in the right way. Her first mission from home and she was reduced to this just from seeing her family once? Was she homesick? Shaking her head just a little and baring her teeth Ruby returned fire, playing the part of a young warrior battling against an impossibly strong mage.
The Grimm melody thundered through her veins, threatening to break free in her moment of weakness. It pulsated under her skin, threatening to turn her hands to claws capable of slicing through steel armor. Ruby fueled this song into her aura, the glass no longer able to hurt her as a barrier of red and black flashed to life.
Much to her surprise Ruby found herself being thrown to the ground by an invisible force, fire erupting from where she had once stood as the Bullhead made its escape. The prim and proper huntress, a fair guess after seeing her abilities in combat, turned to face her now. Frustration evident on her face as Ruby looked back up at her.
"Um… Hi?" She gave a little wave, calming down now after the whole emotional trainwreck she had almost become during her chase of the strangely dressed cane man.
The next thing she knew, Ruby was in a dark room with a single door leading out into a hall. A light shone brightly down upon her as she patiently watched the woman, who she now knew was named Glynda, pace angrily from one end of the room to the next. In her hands was a tablet of sorts, the screen displaying the fight that had taken place before her arrival from multiple angles.
"You completely destroyed a man's right knee, endangered an entire city block by starting a gun fight in a dust shop. Another man is in a coma while the other two are suffering from numerous broken bones, not to mention one of them is scheduled to have their arm amputated after you completely annihilated his upper arm and torso with that… weapon…" Glynda grimaced at the bloody scythe in the corner, bits of said man's shoulder could still be seen clinging to the blade's jagged edges.
"What was I supposed to do? They were robbing a dust store?" Ruby exclaimed, her ears standing alert on her head before flicking towards the door. Someone else was here.
"You're not a licensed Hunter so you should have instead called the authorities! If it was up to me I would have already sent you directly into the correctional facility and confiscated that weapon! But sadly there is someone who wishes to meet with you first" Glynda sighed, glaring at the wolf girl before turning to the now opening door.
Stepping into the room with a rather full plate of… bread things? Ruby had absolutely no idea what was on the plate; she just knew it wasn't meat. The man appeared to be an older individual, older than Glynda at least, and carried himself in a rather regal manner. Back straight, confidence in each step and a pair of rather intense eyes that seemed to see everything. Something about him seemed… oddly familiar somehow.
"Mrs… Ruby I presume?" The man spoke in a strange manner, almost as if he was trying to glean answers solely from her reaction. "You have silver eyes…"
"Yes… I do have silver eyes… you have green eyes! She has green eyes!" Ruby pointed out, unsure what the importance of her particular eyes had to do with this conversation. The man ignored her outburst and instead focused on readjusting his glasses.
"I'm curious as to who taught you to use that weapon… and who made it"
"Oh my mom taught me, and she helped me make it!" Her straight forward answer, as well as a rather vague open statement with quite a rather large lack of details.
"Your… mother?"
"Yah my mother! And mister Arthur! You see, when I got to be around fifteen winters old I was instructed to design a weapon to continue my training. Of course it's really difficult to choose just one so I ended up deciding on something that could be used as a powerful slashing weapon that doubles as a highly compact sniper rifle" Just talking about weapons always put Ruby in a particularly good mood, especially since she had been responsible for 90% of Crescent Rose's construction.
"So they taught you to use one of the most dangerous weapons known to man?" Both Glynda and the man were practically flabbergasted, well perhaps that was the wrong word. Surprised? Confused? Curious?
"Well more like just my mom taught me to actually use it, mister Arthur was really only there to make sure that the sniper part of the scythe didn't explode in my hands" Ruby finally decided to try whatever the bread-like edibles were, they actually smelled really good.
Popping one into her mouth she found that they were rather soft and sweet. Chocolate? Was that the flavor? She had really only heard about this confectionery from Cinder and her time in the kingdoms.
It was delicious.
One sweet became two, then three, soon they were practically flying into her mouth at this point. They were just sooooooo tasty! Ruby practically couldn't help herself with all this sugar!
"Do you know who I am?" The man finally sighed and took the tablet from Glynda and began reviewing the combat footage.
"Amphoolfly fo phidea" Ruby coughed a little, trying to clear her throat and finish swallowing. "Absolutely no idea!"
"Interesting… I'm professor Ozpin, the headmaster at Beacon Academy, a school for training hunters and huntresses."
"There's a school for that? I thought people just decided they could become one and had to pass some sort of licensing exam?" and just when Glynda and Ozpin thought they couldn't be more confused by the girl in front of them, the girl with no record and a past shrouded in mystery. At every turn Ruby had continued to cloud her image, with no knowledge of the current way things were. She didn't even know that there were Academies for training the future generations to battle the Grimm. It was obvious to Ozpin that her upbringing had… less then normal, that she had been sheltered from key factors of the world. Something was strange however, why was she here? In Vale?
Ruby wasn't your normal… How did she say it? Seventeen winters? That meant she was seventeen years old. Right. Ruby wasn't your normal seventeen year old girl, she was completely oblivious to the way things were. She was dangerous. Trained, and with no clear idea of what the purpose of her training was there was no way to comprehend the danger she could pose to the people of this kingdom or any other.
Ozpin pinched the bridge of his nose, setting down the tablet and taking a deep breath. This was reckless, what he was choosing would no doubt upset so many people who relied on him. However this was a calculated risk that he was willing to take, to solve this rather interesting and tricky problem in front of him.
"Mrs Ruby… As the headmaster of Beacon Academy I'd like to formally invite you to attend my school. It would give you a chance to get adapted to city life… and frankly it's better than sitting in a police station and waiting for a guardian."
"Wait! Sir!" Glynda seemed like she was about to protest, however a quick glance from Ozpin shut her up rather quickly. At this point there were none of the delicious pastries that Ruby had now fallen in love with, which was truly a travesty.
"Go to your school? Will there be more of these tasty things that I can't quite describe in any manner then delicious?" Ruby's eyes sparkled when she asked, almost forgetting about her actual mission to gather intel. Wait! If she went to this school then she could probably learn all kinds of cool and interesting things that would help her mothers plan! Hold on… wasn't her original plan to get into Beacon anyways? "You know what! Sure I'll go! Could be fun!"
Oh... My... Goodness...
My hands hurt so much! only because I tried to finish up this chapter at 1 AM!
Why do I do this to myself! why!
