Dark Souls: Tales of the Other Embers

One

The "Soldier" that Tricked a Schnee

'A Tale of a Schnee that is highly respected in military who fell into a trap set up by a "Soldier".'

Within an unknown location in the Kingdom of Mistral, A squadron of soldiers were all wearing body armor that covers their upper bodies. It seems to be a white-gray color, with several different highlights along the helmet and arms of different colors ranging from blue, red, green, and yellow. Some soldiers wore a white coat with red and blue accents with the addition of a blue pilot's hat.

All soldiers and officers were doing their job for their Kingdom, Atlas. They were investigating a site that has been reading unusual readings within their radar. Yet despite their efforts to investigate, they had to be careful towards the natives of this land. It has been a couple of months since Beacon fell and their robots "attacking" Vale Citizens. Since then, everyone was already distrusting the Kingdom of Atlas.

Yet that doesn't mean that they could investigate the site.

Weeks went by, and none haven't even found the source of it yet. What's worse is that General Ironwood is about to recall all of his troops back to Atlas since they were going to close down the borders.

So, they had to be quick before they went back to Atlas.

While doing so, a ship landed in the docking area, that caught multiple attention of the Officers present there. They all formed into a position where they were greeting one of Ironwood's top Officers. As the ship landed, the ramp was lowered to reveal a woman being escorted by a batch of droids.

The woman was tall. And beautiful to say the least. She had slate-blue eyes, black eyebrows, and long white hair. The latter of which was tied back in a bun that is high on the left side of the back of her head, along with bangs along right side of her face and a small, curled lock of hair down the left just above her shoulder. Her outfit showed it off.

It consists of a white long-sleeved coat with a single dark blue clasp around the center waist holding it shut alongside a red jewelled brooch on the collar. The coat's length runs down to her ankles and the sleeves are split from shoulder to elbow. She wears a white pleated sleeveless blouse with a dark blue waistcoat. A pair of white trousers with dark blue garters alongside a pair of gray thigh boots with black detailing around the knees. She also had a pair of black forearm length gloves with gray trimmed cuffs.

The Officers saluted her as she walked by them, along with the small security that was with her. After that, they resumed doing their work. All except one. A male officer walked over to the woman and saluted out of respect. "Specialist Schnee, Ma'am!"

Winter Schnee narrowed eyes at the Officer. "Why aren't you doing your work?" She sternly reminded him.

He had a reason to approach her. "We recently got a report from a lone trooper."

This caught Winter's attention. "A report?"

The Male Officer nodded his head. "Yes, Ma'am. A trooper was solo patrolling when he found something within a cave. I don't know why he remained there, but he claimed that there's something valuable for us."

Now, hearing that caught the Specialist's attention. "Where is the Soldier?" If she could find him. then maybe what he had found would prove to be useful for the Atlesian Military.

"Just two klicks south from here," The Officer answered. Without wasting anymore time, Winter proceeded to head towards where this soldier was.

-Scene Change-

The trek towards her destination was nothing more then a pain for her feet. Then again, Winter was wearing high-heeled boot. How unsurprising. As she walked, she was surprised that no Grimm had even attempt to even attack her. Strange. Usually, there would be one that would come right up to her now, but this was very unusual considering the area was in. There was one question that was in her mind. "What is a lone soldier doing out here in the first place?"

That was something that Winter wanted to know. Arriving in front of a cave where the soldier was, she let out a breath of air. Now, all she had to do was to find that soldier and find out what caught his attention before scolding that soldier for even going away from his post without consent. "Better get going then?"

Entering the cave, Winter observed the area she was in before looking ahead. Going deeper into the cave, she immediately found herself in a big open area. Near the edge of the rocky platform, a lone Atlesian soldier stood there. As if he was waiting for her. Speaking of which, the soldier looked at Winter and was relieved to see her. "Ah, I was waiting for you!"

Winter had to hear carefully to the tone of the soldier's voice. From what she heard, it seemed rather…suspicious. Too suspicious as if someone was even posing as one. She narrowed her eyes at him. "What are you doing here far from base, trooper?"

"Oh, um…" The soldier awkwardly muttered, looking around the area before he look back at her. "I was securing some valuables until you arrive, Ma'am. It's just right over the edge. Go and take a look."

It seems like there was no hint of a lie than what Winter had believed. She glared at him once more. "Alright. I'll go take a look. But after this, you're coming with me back to base to get your punishment." Her words sent a shiver down the soldier's spine. She proceeded to walk towards the edge of the platform to look where the soldier was pointing towards. Unknown to her, the soldier let out a small smirk.

Winter was the edge of the rocky platform and looked over the cliff. From what she saw, there was a small light that was really far deep within the cave. She leaned in to get a better look and was about to leave. When all of a sudden. "Oh, how similar you Schnees are no matter what the difference is." Winter heard a new voice. She was about to turn around when she felt a powerful kick on her back and was off the platform.

She was sent flying downwards before landing down on the ground, face first. She felt her aura suddenly shattered due to the powerful kick she felt earlier. She groaned in pain as she looked back at the platform from where she was prior to this. There, she saw the same soldier laughing at her before removing the helmet. What she saw was a face that wasn't familiar to her. That and how he was bald. "It seems that no matter what pathway the Schnees chooses, greed always runs within the family. Don't you say? That's why it's my job to teach them a lesson, eh."

Winter gritted her teeth as she was tricked by this individual. "Why you?!" The "soldier" let out a laughter once again before leaving the area. She immediately stood up and held her stomach. She used her communicator to contact any soldiers nearby but to no avail. It seems like that kick really did mess up her communications. That and how her scroll was destroyed when she landed deep within the cave system.

This is going to suck to get back into base. Yet, those shiny things she saw may prove to be helpful for the stranded Specialist.

LOL! It seems like Winter had been tricked by someone and it is PATCHES of all people?! It seems like what those shiny things that Winter is seeing may lead her into something, or rather someone useful for the Atlesian Military. I wonder who?

Anyway, sorry if this chapter had lots of errors as I wanted to publish a chapter as it has been a while. I am going to try my best to write Embers of Remnant and my new story that hasn't been updated for a while, Fairyborne.

See you all in the next chapter, whenever it will come.
