A/N: Well, this should have been a continuation from the ending of chapter sixteen of Dark Souls: Embers of Remnant. But decided to have its own place in here. Hope you understand and let's get onto the chapter then. By the way, this is spoilers for Embers of Remnant.

Dark Souls: Tales of the Other Embers

Four

A Private Conversation

Ash and the Firekeeper were having their moment together in a room in Atlas Academy, and a thought came to Ash's mind. "Firekeeper?"

His dear friend smiled at him. "Yes, Ashen One?"

He then thought back to what she had said earlier. "You mentioned before that we need to talk in private? I think it would be the best time to talk."

The Firekeeper gently let go of his hand and looked directly at him. "I see. Thou wisheth to know what I mentioned earlier?" The Unkindled nodded. "Very well. Then please take a seat. T'will take some time to explain."

"I require no sleep," He spoke, reminding her of his undead nature.

She ignored his comment before sitting down on a chair. "Now, thou hearest of the history between the brothers, correct?"

Again, the Unkindled nodded before speaking. "Patches has already informed me about it."

"Ah, the merchant. Despite his interests, he's always had his own ways of explaining things." She muttered with a smile before looking back at her close friend. "Hath he told you anything else?"

Ash reflected back on the conversation he had with Patches, and eventually, there was something he had to inform her. "He told me that this land, Remnant, used to be Lordran. After we ended the First Flame, the two Brothers somehow found themselves in this land and created another fire by using their powers to establish their age. Although, one of them has been corrupted by the Abyss as they created Remnant." He looked over to his friend. "Is that true?"

The Firekeeper nodded a little in confirmation. "Indeed. Although, he purposefully left a few information out."

Of course Ash would expect her to say that. Patches is always seemed to be the type of person that is both honest and deceitful. Though, he tends to be deceitful all the time. "Ashen One…" He heard the Firekeeper's voice and turned to look at her, who had the look of something that was about to be revealed. "There's something that thee ned to know."

"What is it?" He asked calmly to his dear friend.

"These bothers…" She began speaking. "They are powerful. More so than the successors of the Lord of Cinders. But their presence are still lingering about."

The unkindled was taken back by what she said. He had to ask to make sure she was saying the truth. "How? Haven't I told you that I saw them leaving Remnant while looking at Jinn's explanation." He was lucky the lamp wasn't around them as he had a feeling she didn't want to be summoned.

Unknowingly, he had caused her to sneeze while in her lamp.

"The Kilm." She answered. "They've meddled with something that shouldn't have been messed with. Although their Flame was successful due to their power, 'twas not powerful enough to fight off the Abyss. Although they left, a part of their souls are still within the Kilm."

Ash had to take a few moments to register what she had said before speaking what anyone would. "They…artificially created another variation of the First Flame?"

The Firekeeper would have the venom within his voice. "'Tis a possibility, Ashen One. Although, I may not be right as it is just a speculation." That calmed him down as she shoulders were relaxed. Seeing him in this state made her place a hand with his and gently squeezed them. "Thou should relax right now. You do not want to be late with your acquaintances."

"I probably should." Ash agreed as he was still processing what had been said to him.

FINALLY! This story is getting an update. Now, into my other stories. Oh, and what has been said is just speculation as only a handful, not including the Firekeeper/Olivia and Patches, know the full story.
