"Uh... About Gustafa... Don't worry about it."
That's what Nami quietly said to me outside the café yesterday. She went after me outside once she noticed that I seemed nervous leaving the café. I just didn't want to stick around Molly for too long to give Nami the wrong idea that I was being flirty with someone else, when I wasn't. I just hate misunderstandings.
I wasn't expecting Nami to reassure me about Gustafa though. I guess she was sensing that I was jealous? Or maybe she didn't want me to worry about it at all... Her saying that to me though, really took me by surprise and made me blush, because it's almost as if she's secretly saying she only has eyes for me... Which, I... I-I don't know, but... I was so speechless when I watched her walk away with her hands in her pockets after she told me that; she didn't even give me a chance to say anything back to her.
Well, today's a new day, and so todayyyy, I really want to make Nami an omelette. Well... Since, you know... Molly mentioned that I made one for Takakura and it seemed Nami was jealous of Molly, and I just... I just kind of feel bad that Nami got jealous and I also want to kind of show off my cooking skills (hehe), and I just, well... I just wanna do something nice for Nami most of all, make her a good meal to eat, you know. Sigh... I sound silly, I know.
Anyway, speaking of Takakura, he did deliver me a new chicken around noon today, and she did lay me some eggs. So I'll use those eggs to make Nami's omelette and will also use my cow Love's milk for the rest, and whatever else is in my fridge. I named my chicken Katia, by the way. I named her after this one princess I played as in this video game and I-
Knock. Knock. Knock.
Startled at hearing someone knock loudly on my door, I turned my head as I just cracked open some eggs into the frying pan and placed a gallon of milk on the counter.
Who the heck could that be?
I opened the door to see none other than...ROCK?!
My stomach dropped and I immediately wanted to slam the door in his face, but I restrained myself due to not wanting to be rude. Sigh...
"Hey, Babe. I just wanted to bless your day with my amazing presence," he sang in a cocky tone while flashing me a wink and I swear - his hazel eyes were sparkling in the most annoying kind of way.
I rolled my eyes. "Uh, I'm kind of busy here-"
Suddenly Rock had the AUDACITY to slide right past me and walk right into MY HOUSE, him immediately eyeing the eggs in the frying the pan.
"Ooh, whatcha cooking, good looking? I bet that's for me, huh?" Rock assumed out loud as he laughed and he casually sat down at my kitchen table, while putting his feet up like he owned the place-WHAT THE HECK!
"That's not for you," I protectively clarified with a hiss as I hurriedly began to rummage through the fridge and then demanded, "Now please get out, Rock! Before I get Takakura invovled! Seriously dude, what the heck! I didn't even invite you over here-"
"You got to add some more milk! Just how I like it!" Rock abruptly blurted out as he began to pour WAY too much milk in the frying pan.
I immediately snatched the milk out of his grasp and shrieked, "EEK! You're gonna ruin my omelette for Nami! Stop it!"
Rock paused for a moment and and then gasped dramatically, him being completely APPALLED.
"NAMI? You... You mean to tell me that Nami is my actual new rival in love?! This is UNREAL."
Rock then shook his head with a huff of disbelief and let out a sigh. "Well, I'm just gonna pretend I didn't hear that... In my reality, there's no competition other than myself. I'm not threatened by her. Yeah...yeah I'm the best and only option, obviously." He flipped his hair and smirked with a pompous nod. "Well, I'm sure you'll come to your senses soon. I'm gonna head home to regroup. Anyway, later for now Babe."
With that, the blond idiot walked out of my house and I heard Takakura's voice from outside lecture Rock about "tresspassing" and "territory", but I couldn't hear the rest of his words. I twitched in annoyance, but at the same time was so glad that that rude doofus has finally left my house.
I then shrieked in fear at the thought of my omelette burning and immediately turned off the heat.
Phew. My omelette looks okay thankfully, but I'm worried about that extra milk Rock poured in it...
...I'm sure it'll be fine.
*Thirty Minutes Later*
After I was done cooking my omelette, I made sure it looked extra pretty, and put my delicious-looking masterpiece on a plate with some plastic wrap on it. I'm sure she will love this and will be impressed, hehe.
I rushed around the valley for awhile trying to look for Nami, when from afar I finally saw from her head into the café. I waited about ten minutes before entering inside, because I was nervous and didn't want her thinking I was stalking her or something- because I'm NOT. Haha, I just don't want to startle her...
Coyly, I entered the building as I felt my heart pounding at the sight of Nami quietly conversing with both Gaven and Molly. I gripped the plate of my omelette a little tighter and nervously walked up to Nami.
My hot mysterious red-headed love interest noticed me from the corner of her eye and she slowly turned toward my direction.
"Hey. Long time no see..." she remarked and I couldn't tell if there was sarcasm with slight annoyance lingering in her voice or not.
Frozen with nervousness, I couldn't get any words out. Nami raised an eyebrow slightly. "...What is it? What d'you want?"
"Uh... Can I stand next to you in this spot?" I stupidly say, her totally not noticing the plate in my grasp yet.
Nami shrugged. "Fine with me. Not like anyone else is here."
She let out a sigh and then I presented the plate with the omelette on it to her.
Blushing, I closed my eyes hard in embarrassment as I talked.
"I, uh... Made this... Would you like to try it?"
There was silence and a few seconds later I gradually opened my eyes to see Nami looking down at the plate utterly perplexed.
"This is... Uh... Egg... Soup...?"
The color pink immediately invaded my cheeks and I flinched in shock.
"W-What?!"
To my horror, I looked down to see that there was a hole in the omelette, causing yellow-ish liquid to flow outwards and surrounding the solid part of it on the plate, which indeed did look like: egg soup.
"Oh no..." I whined under my breath, feeling beyond mortified.
Stupid, STUPID ROCK! He totally sabotaged my omelette for Nami! But... But, I should have known better. I should have remade it and... I-
I then heard Nami let out a soft, quiet chuckle. My heart skipped a beat in shock and her laugh was like heavenly music to my ears.
Nami smirked as she then took the plate from my grasp and she looked deep into my eyes; her gaze making my heart feel so warm.
"Uh...yeah, I'd love to try this, actually. You're a weirdo, you know that?"
Her smirk slowly transformed into a genuine small smile. I was completely taken aback by her words and butterflies were fiercely bombarding my stomach with the way she was looking at me. I was undeniably blushing up a storm. Even though she called me a weirdo, it felt kind of... sweet?
Geez, what is wrong with my messed up brain?!
"Aww... Kayla, cook me something next time!" I then heard Molly giggle and she flashed me one flirtatious wink.
Startled, I flinched. I totally forgot Molly and Gavin were basically in front of us behind the counter...
"Oh, s-sorry..." I breathed, feeling a little guilty. Maybe I should have given it to Nami when her and I were alone, I wasn't really thinking of how those two would feel at all not getting a gift from me... How awkward.
"It's kind of cruel how I mentioned your cooking yesterday and you didn't think to make me anything... I think you definitely owe me a date to make up for it at least! Hehe!" Molly teased.
My eyes widened in utter bewilderment and I blushed slightly. W-WHAT?! A date?!
Nami looked annoyed by Molly's comment and only muttered, "Humph..." under her breath. She seemed to attempt to act unbothered by what the blonde said to me and then began to eat the...egg soup (cries in embarassed gay)...that I made her at the café counter.
"Easy now, Molly..." Gavin urged with a sigh.
"Relax, I'm just teasing... Hehe," Molly assured.
"Besides, we don't know if those two are already on a date," Gavin calmly stated.
Nami and I both ferociously blushed.
"W-What! W-We're not!" I insisted stuttering.
"It's none of your business anyway..." I heard Nami coldly mutter, but she spoke it so quietly that Gaven and Molly couldn't hear.
"Here, Kayla. I made you a frappuccino! On the house!" Molly then sweetly sang as she placed it on the counter in front of me, she was slightly blushing.
My emerald eyes sparkled. "Oh my gosh, aweee thank you! My favorite, ahhh."
Gavin placed a glass in front of Nami on the counter. "And here's your tea you ordered earlier, Nami."
Nami nodded. "Thanks."
One minute went by as Nami and I drank our beverages in silence. My heart started pounding. Should I try starting a conversation? I do want to know more about Nami after all...
"So... Why'd you come to Forgotten Valley?" I meekly asked her.
Nami was definitely caught off gaurd, the tone of her voice sounding somewhat defensive as she turned towards me. "Huh? What's with the questions all of a sudden?"
"I-I only asked one..." I retorted with a nervous laugh, being somewhat in disbelief and I mumbled under my breath while looking down at the counter, "Geez, what the heck..."
I didn't know Nami could be so dramatic. Is that a red flag? ...
Nami turned to look back at the counter and she decided to answer my question after all instead of avoiding it this time. "I didn't have a reason. I just like wandering around, really."
Hmmm. Why do I feel like there's more to it? Gosh, why does she have to be so darn mysterious?!
"Oh, nice." I don't really know what else to say, I wish she would just open up to me...
"That's pretty much it, but... What about you? Tell me why you came to the valley."
My eyes widened. Huh? Wait... She wants to know about me? I wasn't expecting her to ask about me at all. Well, I guess it's obviously a good sign that she's curious about me.
"Well, um... I guess I wanted a fresh start after a rough time I had a few months ago while living in the city, it was a pretty painful time for me. I'm not really a city girl anway - I'm really more into nature, so... I thought taking over my dad's farm sounded refreshing after Takakura proposed the idea to me in a letter. He was always one of my dad's closest friends," I shyly explained while twirling a finger in my brown hair as I averted my eyes to look down at my frappuccino.
Nami was listening intently the whole time with a stern expression. She was quite for a moment before she gave her full response.
"I won't pry about your past, but... Huh. Okay. So, that's how you knew Takakura... Is the farm bringing in lots of profits for the two of you?"
I let out a nervous laugh and scratched the back of my head. "Hehe... Well, I'm working on it... I try not to really think about it since I'm just starting out, but maybe one day I'll be a millionaire farmer! Hehe," I joked while a soft giggle escaped my lips.
"Haha, for real? You weirdo..." Nami chuckled, the way she said 'weirdo' sounded in such a loving kind of way; it totally made my heart happily dance and do summersaults. "Well, hang in there, I guess. I'm gonna head out. And thanks again for the egg soup..."
I blushed instantly at her saying 'egg soup' and I watched her walk out the door as I was completely mesmerized by her. Nami...
"Oh, dear... Nami forgot to pay her tab again!" Molly suddenly exclaimed.
I gasped. "I-I'll pay for her!" I instantly blurted out without even a second thought. I mean, no big deal, I'll happily pay for her...
"Really, though. No worries. I'll cover it for her," I hastily insisted once more.
"Aw, you will? That's very kind of you Kayla. Hehe," Muffy bubbly remarked and she continued on, "She ordered an herbal tea and a Gaven special, so that comes to... 256 gold!"
I handed over the money to Molly, her fingers slightly brushing against mine, and she flashed me a wink while giggling, the tone of her voice beyond alluring.
"Thank you. Next time, I hope you and I can have a one on one chat like you two did soon, hehe."
I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. "Uh... T-Thanks, maybe next time. ...Bye girl!"
With that, I hurried out of the café in a flash and started walking back in the direction toward my farm.
Geez, what is with everyone? I mean I know I'm the new hot farmer in town and all, but everyone is freaking thirsty for me here, sheesh. I had no idea Molly was even into women like that... let alone ME being her type, since I'm such a girly little thing. She must have heard I'm into women or something, I did mention it casually to a few people when I first got to the valley, so I guess it makes sense if word around town spread fast.
From the corner of my eye, I suddenly saw standing behind the light post the...possessed teddy bear?!
It was staring menacingly and without warning, charged right at me.
"EEKKKKKKK!"
Immediately I rushed into the inn screaming and I crashed into someone - someone who happened to be Nami. She instinctively held onto me protectively for a few seconds and then let me go blushing up a storm once she realized.
"...W-What's wrong?" Nami question flustered, while sounding slightly annoyed.
She flinched once she saw that there was literal tears forming out of my green eyes and I started to shiver in fear as I hugged myself.
"T-That possessed bear... Charged right at me... I-I'm too scared to go back outside... Is it okay if we hang out in your room for a bit?"
Nami sighed. "Sure."
We made our way upstairs and into her room.
"...Are you okay?" Nami asked after a moment of silence.
"I-I'm still kind of shaken up..." I stated timidly while looking down and hugged myself for comfort some more.
As I slightly turned around, I noticed from the corner of my eye that Nami's diary was wide open, as if she had just wrote in it a few minutes ago but forgot to close it.
It said...
'She is... Two hearts...'
Author Note: Haha, this chapter is a total depiction of how I felt when I first gave Nami egg soup in the game. I really wasn't expecting her response to be that way and I remember feeling so warm and fuzzy when reading it, I was completely shocked. xD This chapter is also based on how I was making an omelette one time and my mom sabotaged it by pouring in too much milk without me looking, and it turned into egg soup basically lmao. Then when this game came out and I found out egg soup was an actual recipe, I lost it! Lmaoooo. XD I know my imagination is pretty wild and random, haha. But hope this story keeps y'all entertained. And yeah, I do plan to do all of Nami's heart events here too, but with my own spin on it of course, like I did this one. Haha. Anyway, I shall update when I can. I do have the end planned out for this story, but it's a longgggg time coming. Thanks for reading and leave a comment/review if you like, it definitely keeps me motivated! This site won't let me sign in from my phone...so I know reviewing can be a pain in the butt sometimes right now with it glitching, but it'd mean a lot if you guys could still comment as a guest or something, would mean the world. I appreciate everyone who reviewed so far, makes my day, thank you. Anyway, hope y'all have a good day too. Thanks for readingggg.
