Since Gwen couldn't sew his costume in time after having that heart-to-heart talk with her, Peter decided to spend most of his time putting together a crappy makeshift version of it instead.
Finally, on the day of the upcoming wrestling match, Peter got up early in the morning to start practicing his web shooting skills. He placed down a soda can in between his DIY space rocket model and framed photo of himself, his Aunt May and Uncle Ben.
In one quick motion, Peter gestured his hand to shoot out couple of webs: first shot at his rocket model made it disassembled into pieces, then a second shot at the photo, causing its glass frame to crack. Peter then shot another webline at the soda can before yanking it back to himself, catching it with his hand effortlessly.
Turning to his right, Peter shot another webline at his lamp that was residing on a cabinet by his door. Without a moment of thought, he pulled it, not realizing he was throwing it at himself. Peter quickly moved his head in reflex as the lamp's narrowly missed before smashing into pieces on his desk behind him.
After recomposing himself, Peter heard his Aunt calling out for him. He got up from his chair and opened his door slightly.
"What's going on in there?" Aunt May asked worriedly.
"I'm exercising. I'm not dressed, Aunt May," Peter lied, not wanting her to know what he'd been doing for the past week.
"Well, you're acting so strangely, Peter," Aunt May said, before walking away from her nephew's bedroom door.
Peter nodded in acknowledgment. "Okay. Thanks," He closed the door shut once his Aunt's out of sight. He turned to see his room in a state of mess with his webs spread and entangled over it, letting out an deep exhale.
He sure got a lot of cleaning up to do before preparing himself for the wrestling match.
Later downstairs in the living room, Aunt May was sewing a sock while Uncle Ben was sorting out through his electrician tool box to fix a piece of broken wire. In actuality, they were both keeping themselves busy as they were waiting for their nephew.
"Something's bothering him," Uncle Ben blurted out. "Maybe he's just too embarrassed to tell me what it is. Maybe I'm too embarrassed to ask him. I just don't know anymore."
As if right on cue, they heard Peter walking out of his bedroom. They turned to see him sprinting down the stairs in a hurry as he was wearing a grey hoodie with a backpack in hand.
"I'm going to the downtown library. See you later," Peter said in a rush.
Uncle Ben put down his tools and stood up from his chair. "Hang on, wait. I'll drive you there, buddy."
"No, I'll take the train," Peter insisted.
Uncle Ben already grabbed his jacket from the front hanger. "No, no, I need the exercise. Go on. Go, go."
As Peter was out the door, Uncle Ben turned quickly to his wife and gave her an 'okay' sign, before walking out to his car.
Meanwhile next door, Mary Jane was spending her early Saturday morning sitting with her legs cross on the carpet living room in front of the home television, watching her favorite shows currently going on.
At times, MJ often like to see how the casts would act in their respective shows, self-teaching herself on how they could help her achieve her aspiring dream to be an actress someday, though occasionally, when fashion show ads pop up in between breaks, she also taken some interests in some fancy wear that some models displayed as well, thinking that maybe working in clothing business would work as an alternative option if acting's ever became out of the question.
Suddenly, MJ started to get that weird tinkling feeling again, this time it almost like it was directing her towards the Parker house. Despite not knowing why she got this strange sensation, she got up anyway and walked to her window to check.
As she moved to her front window, MJ instantly noticed that Peter walked out of his house, alongside with his uncle, and entered into the car that was in their driveway.
What's catching on to her attention, much to MJ's confusion, was just Peter himself. After all this time, why now does she had this fluttering sensation fixated on wanting her to go out her front door and greet the cute nerd?
But before she could think about going outside, the two Parkers were already backing out of their driveway and drove down the street. Strangely enough, as Peter was far away in the distance, that weird tinkling feeling started to fade away.
Thinking it's pointless to try go to him now, MJ resorted to going back inside to watch her channels. Although, she was still perplexed about why she suddenly had this feeling drawing her close to that cute nerd.
After a long drive to Manhattan, Uncle Ben parked his car by the side curb in front of the New York downtown library, where Peter said he was intended to head for.
"Thanks for the ride, Uncle Ben," Peter said.
"Hey, wait a minute," Uncle Ben said, stopping his nephew from leaving the car for a moment. "Peter, We need to talk."
"We can talk later," Peter said.
"Well, we can talk now, if you let me," Uncle Ben said, switching off his car.
Peter sighed. "What do we have to talk about? Why now?"
"Because we haven't talked for so long. May and I don't know who you are," Uncle Ben pointed out. "You shirk your chores. You have all those weird experiments in your room. You start fights at school -"
"I didn't start that fight, I told you that," Peter said in his own defence.
"You sure as hell finished it," Uncle Ben said.
"What am I supposed do? Run away?" Peter said in a rhetoric tone.
Uncle Ben shook his head. "No, you're not supposed to run away. But, Pete, look, you're changing. I went through exactly the same thing at your age."
Peter shook his head, scoffing at how Uncle Ben would exactly know what he's been through. "No. Not exactly."
"Peter, these are the years when a man changes into the man he's gonna become the rest of his life. Just be careful who you change into. This guy, Flash Thompson, he probably deserved what happened. But just because you can beat him up, doesn't give you the right to," Uncle Ben said solemnly. "Remember, with great power comes great responsibility."
"Are you afraid that I'll turn into some kind of criminal?" Peter said irritatedly. "Quit worrying about me, okay? Something's different, I'll figure it out. Quit lecturing me, please."
"I didn't mean to lecture and I don't mean to preach. And I know I'm not your father -" Uncle Ben said, before being cut off by his nephew's next harsh words.
"Then stop pretending to be!" Peter bawled out at him. Immediately, he regretted his harshness tone when he noticed Uncle Ben looked down, obviously saddened by his own outburst.
"Right," Uncle Ben nodded downheartedly. "I'll pick you up here at 10."
Despite still feeling regret for his harsh words and felt a need to apologize to him, Peter doesn't know what to say next. Instead, he reluctantly opened the passenger door and exited out of Uncle Ben's car without a single word spoken.
As Peter was waiting on the curb a bit, he gave a side glance at where his Uncle was driving off. After seeing him exit into the next street, Peter took a different turn in direction and made his way to the wrestling arena.

A/N: Finally reaching to that point in the story and one step closer to learning responsibility.
As some of you may notice, if you didn't catch my author's note from previous chapters, Mary Jane won't be joining him to the wrestling match, despite having powers of her own. I actually intended for her to experience her own origin story in this fanfic, unlike some that lined it up with Peter's in the past, so from this point, don't expect anything too drastically different from the first movie for a few chapters.
That being said, I did add little something to her character to make up a bit for it, which may or may not be a hint for what I intended for her future.
Anyway, any constructive criticisms and comments would be greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy reading this chapter.
Reviews:
Bountyhunter1977: For this fanfic (mostly the first and the third movie), yeah, I intended for my version of Raimi's Gwen Stacy to be a great supporting character for the main couple.
For the costume part, you have to keep in mind of the fact this takes place during the early 2000s, a time where the common resources we have now isn't that widely available back then, plus no Tony Stark in this universe, so it won't be that mostly improved against his foes, but just enough to protect him from common thugs.
CT311998: Appreciate your kind review.
And yeah, I am also somewhat neutral to choosing between Mary Jane and Gwen, depending on the author's intentions for their story take on them. But if it was up to me entirely, I'll always go Spider-ManXGhost Spider first. Gwen Stacy really does deserve better than what she been through in the past, and combining her scientific mind and wits with Spider-Powers would've made her a perfect partner-in-crime/girlfriend with Spider-Man. It's a shame the current official media always botch up the potential while some fanfics always have better handlings on them.
DCDGojira: Thanks for your comments, man.
And good luck with your fanfic.
Spider-Reader: Thanks, man.
In regards to the rumors about Felicia Hardy's presumed role as the "Vulturess" in the cancelled Spider-Man 4, yeah, there's no way Raimi would approve that, considering he was a 60s era fan himself, hence why he also doesn't like Venom that very much due to the fact he was created in the 80s.
You'd think, because of Raimi's past experiences as a horror director, he'd would've love to work with the character, but I guess not everything's a match made in heaven. It's really unfortunately he was forced to add him in anyway over Vulture in the earlier drafts for Spider-Man 3. (Freakin' Avi Arad) On the bright side, you're right, he at least knew how to handle the horror nature of the symbiote very well, even more so thanks to the Editor's Cut and some of the deleted content that never made it in the final cut. (Freakin' Sony)
And this is just my opinion, but I just don't like Black Cat/Felicia Hardy as a love interest for Spider-Man/Peter Parker in general. It was already brought up many times that the romantic relationship between the two was always toxic, due to Felicia's fixation of living behind the mask and tendency to go back to her burglar ways, while Peter always be the one to live with the balance between his personal life and his role as a superhero.
Two entirely conflicting ideologies in double life will never make it work out for them.
While I can see her as a mutual friend for Peter for him to relate to someone, in terms of living a life behind the mask, any status more than that is an instant no-no from me. So yeah, she won't be a thing in my fanfic's universe. Sorry for any SpiderCat fans out there, but this is just my personal thoughts.
Guest 20/6/2022: Don't worry, there'll be more drama coming up in the two later movies, as what I had intended for them plays a crucial role to the characters' development.
