Chapter 7
It's been two months since I've started meditating. It turns out that I can eat and sleep! I continue to journal every day! I typically write in my journal about my meditation progress and how my day has been.
During the time that I was not meditating in my room, I would explore the wood mapping out the area in my journal, gathering wood, or hunting for edible fruits, herbs, and small animals for food with one of the hunting knives found in the kitchen.
I've made traps that I would check every morning. It turns out I don't need blood that often. I drink blood from whatever animal I catch which are mostly rabbits. I don't throw the meat away because it's wasteful. Instead, I use it for dinner or lunch and usually have berries or nuts for breakfast.
When I reached the tenth day, I made the decision to learn some spells. I can feel the mana flowing through me, and it makes me feel so warm and cozy inside!
I went behind the cabin with my spell book in hand. The first thing I wanted to learn was how to use my shadow powers to store my journal and spell book inside it, so I wouldn't have to worry about losing them and could take them out whenever I wanted.
I opened the book and read the instructions on how to start.
instructions: place the item on shadow, think of your shadow of an inventory. If done correctly it should start to sink in shadow.
How to take things out of shadow: see instructions below…
Hmm okay, I think I've got it!
I decided I would use my journal for my first attempts so, just in case I did something wrong, I would be able to consult the spell book on what I did wrong.
It was pretty easy to get down, it took me two days of practice sessions to be able to pull my journal in and out of my shadow.
Although whenever I did summon the book, I noticed that my shadow would darken a bit before summoning, but it wasn't that noticeable unless you knew what I was doing.
On the third day of practice, I noticed that whenever I summoned my journal, it would just fall on the floor, landing on top of my shadow, and I would have to bend down to pick it up.
"There's got to be a better way, it would be suspicious to bend over to pick up an invisible book," I muttered to myself, then I remembered another power I gained, telekinesis aka, levitation!
I consulted my book of spells and read the instructions on how to learn telekinesis. It took about another day of practicing to get down telekinesis, to be able to float my book into my hands instead of it plopping on the floor.
I decided that that was enough practice for the day, and put both books into my shadow and went back home to the cabin to rest and gain back some mana.
On the following day, I decided to take a break from my routine of practicing. I spent my day playing in the stream, checking the traps, and practicing making different rabbit meals at the cabin.
The forest was full of life, and I saw many animals such as squirrels, deer, foxes, birds, and even a boar.
The next two days, I decided that would work on my elemental spells! I went behind the cabin again and started levitating big rocks to practice and placing them in a line. I decided to make one rock pile by stacking the rocks on top of each other.
I took a deep breath and summoned my spell book from my shadow, my shadow darkened a bit before my book appeared and I levitated it into my hands, and flipped to the element section of the book.
I read through each elemental spell, it seems like there are two basic spells for each element.
There were different types of magical balls that you could summon for attacking, like fireballs, earth balls, air balls, and water balls.
There are also various walls that can be summoned for defense including firewalls, earth walls, water walls, and an air wall.
I started by practicing my water elements first just, in case my fire powers got out of control and I could extinguish them. It took me three hours to learn how to summon water and after that, it got easier to summon it, over and over.
Then I tried to summon a water ball, which was tough, as I could summon water but couldn't shape it, then I had a great idea.
I tried summoning water again, but this time I shaped it into a ball with my telekinesis and it worked! I floated it around for a bit then flung it into the pile of rocks, the rocks exploded from the pile, flinging into the surrounding trees and grass. I stood there in shock, I never thought water could be that strong.
That gave me an idea, I summoned another water ball and used my telekinesis to separate it into smaller balls, and flung them at another rock pile.
The rock that the water hit made indents into the rock which gave me another great idea. I tried my idea as I started to get more and more excited, I summoned another water ball separated them into a horizontal line, and flung them at the big rock that was left alone.
The rock was sliced in half, I stood there in amazement.
I looked down at my spell book grabbed my pen, flipped to an empty page in the spell section, and wrote down:
Water bullets- How to use: Summon a water ball, use telekinesis to separate and make it into a smaller water size, and fling it at the target.
Water slash- How to use: Summon a water ball, use telekinesis to separate them and make them into horizontal lines, and fling it at the target.
I continued practicing with the different elements and making new spells, writing them down in my spell book, every day.
So far, I've learned all the basic spells for the rest of the elements. I've made all kinds of different spells, including Water Slash, Water Bullets, Water Toy Dance, Water Shield, Earth Shield, Earth Bullets, Earth platforms, Air Slash, Air Bullets, Fire Shield, Fire Bullets, Fire Slash, and Fire Toy Dance, which summons mini fire toy soldiers, I got the idea from an anime I watched, oh I also made a water version of it too! I also learned how to air-step, which is very handy to use to get quickly around the woods.
I've also learned how to make a barrier around the surrounding part of my house and the woods, in case a human goes hiking and catches me practicing my spells and freaks out and goes and tells someone. I don't need anyone coming back with pitchforks. If they get close to my house, the barrier will make them go in circles eventually ending up on a trail or the edge of the woods.
Only animals are allowed in and out of the barrier. The barrier can also sense things on and off-hand if someone or thing enters it or is near it and notifies me. It feels like a buzzing in the back of my head. It also works as a one-way mirror, so I can see them, but they can not see me.
As I walked home from the woods from my recent practice with my elemental powers. I heard the first voice in two months, besides my own.
"Hi ! " I froze and turned around looking around the area thinking that maybe a human somehow got through my barrier and I somehow didn't sense it.
I heard the voice again, this time giggling at my confusion, "I'm in your head, silly! Nice to meet you, I'm your wolf, Ivy ."
