A.N: What's up Boondocks and Kakegurui fans! Welcome to the crossover you never knew that you needed so much until you saw it.

All jokes aside, this is a little passion project of mine. As a young black man (23) I'm a huge fan of the satire and social politics of The Boondocks and Aaron Mcgruder, and of course the humor is something you can't take away from it either. I'm also a huge fan of Kakegurui, it's just so rich with complexity. It's a sharp critique of hyper-capitalism, a dramatized look into human nature, and it's got such an amazing cast of colorful characters. I honestly just think that too much of the fanbase is too focused on shipping and all that ish; not saying there's anything wrong with that ofc but the world of Kakegurui is just so much more interesting than that. Once you dig a little there's really a lot of interesting lore to unpack about this world. Lore that this story is going to build off of, explore and recreate. So expect changes to the cannon, revamped concepts, and all around new groups, dynamics, etc. I've read the Mangas, watched the animes/movies, everything that matters, so I've got all the information needed for this kind of AU.

I don't want to be too long winded ofc but let me set the stage here. This story's gonna be a longfic, with a pretty layered storyline and world. Our main character is Huey ofc but we're starting off during "Twin" in a manner of speaking so our girl Mary Saotome will be the duo-protagonist.

(The characters are a little aged up, and instead of going to a High School, I've transferred the setting to a University for both storyline reasons…andddd because the sexual nature of the show does have some thematic implications, and even from a lighthearted perspective: my lizard brain likes the ecchi elements of the series, I just feel waayyy more comfortable sexualizing young adults over a bunch of teens in HS…)

We're mixing elements from both shows, which means that the emphasis on gambling is here, but this story also has a lot of action/combat and social/political intrigue involved. The Boondocks is known for its fights, a lot of them look practically superhuman too, that's going to carry over as well. Long story short, let me put it like this: imagine a mix between Boondocks and Kakegurui with Afro Samurai (Lite) type of fight scenes. Large ninja-flick style blood splatters, neigh-superhuman strength and movements, just some dope anime shit in general!

As for the Voice of Huey Freeman, he isn't a kid anymore so his canon voice wouldn't really fit here. After doing some searching around, I've personally settled on Daniel Ezra, the voice of Spencer James from the show All American. His voice is low, yet appropriately intense, cool, suave and clear. It's how I envision Huey's voice maturing over the years. Check out a few clips on YT and listen to his Spencer voice. I think it's pretty spot on but that's my personal preference. You might have your own headcanon for that.

Last but not least. I have something I think the readers of this story will really love.

I'm a beatmaker/composer for hobby as well and over the last 6 months I've made a lot of remixes and original tracks for this story in my free time, largely as practice for a paid project i'm working on.
