Greetings dear readers. Welcome to my version of the "How To Train Your Dragon" franchise ! A story where some aspects remain the same while many new things will join in. I like writing stories and I want to try and guide you all to a new way of this story.

"How to Train Your Dragon"... the story of Hiccup and Toothless... will forever remain the amazing original. Nothing will change that. Yet, as someone who enjoys writing in her free time, I kind of long to let my ideas become free. To wonder what the story could be once it takes a new turn.

I will only describe charakters once, but I won´t do the same with dragons unless it´ll be a fan-made dragon from me. I might also put certain dragons into different dragon classes so don´t get confused. Also, english isn´t my main language so I apologize for any errors in my writing. I´ll try to do my best. Feel free to leave Reviews, just please don´t be insulting in them. Thank you. And now... let the story begin !

How To Train Your Dragon

"Legend Of The Dragon Riders"

Coming into view is a large island somewhere in the wide ocean. It kind of resembles a gigantic shard of rock jutting straight out of the water. This... is Berk. A home where it snows eight months of the year, yet we have beautiful and warm summers the other four.

High waves and fog drift away to reveal a village nestled on an outcropping of sea mounts. My village. In a word, sturdy. We´ve been here since seven generations but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems... are the pests.

Late at night, all seems peaceful... that´s when suddenly, on a farm, one of the sheeps is snatched away in the blink of an eye ! You see, while most places have mice or mosquitos... us here on Berk... we have...

A fourteen year old girl heard a commotion going on outside her house. She has green eyes and long auburn brown hair which she keeps tied up in a high pony tail while a curled strand of hair is framing each side of her face. She wears a short sleeved red shirt, brown leather shoulder pads with a fur-hat attached, a short brown skirt, dark blue leggings and brown fur boots.

She opens the door only to immediately slamming it shut again to avoid getting burned to death by a large being with wings. DRAGONS !

The once peaceful atmosphere on Berk has suddenly changed into a complete warzone. Every resident of the village was out there, armed with axes, swords, spears, maces and shields, fighting off different kinds of dragons to protect their home. Most people would leave. Not us. We´re Vikings ! We have stubborness issues.

The girl then run out into the battlefield, looking quite a bit excited. She was quick and careful as she dodged numerous vikings who were running around, ignoring every harsh word that was shouted at her. My name is Lena. Interesting name for a viking, I know, but I´m happy with it because it could be much worse. You see, some parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our oh-so-charming-viking-demeanor wouldn´t do that already.

Upon reaching the centre of the village, Lena suddenly got grabbed and pulled back just as a Deadly Nadder shot a stream of fire at the ground. The man that had grabbed her was a tall and muscular, 40-year old man with grey eyes and short spiky white hair that is neatly swept back and a white goatee. He wears a sleevless red shirt, black pants, black leather boots, silver armour on his shoulders and forarms, and a long brown leather overcoat.

"Lena ?! What are you doing out here ?! You´re supposed to be at the forge !" He rambled before shoving her off. "Hurry up !"

Here ladies and gentleman we have Liddan Haddock, chief of the Hooligan Tribe of Berk. People say that when he was a baby he popped of a dragon´s head clean off of its shoulders. Do I believe it ? ... Yes, I do.

Liddan glanced to the side, catching sight of a green scaled Deadly Nadder flying off with two sheep held in its large claws. He swiftly grabbed an abondened wooden cart, flinging it with ease as if it was only a small rock. It hit the dragon hard, causing it to lose some hight and drop the two sheep. It then quickly retreated. Liddan nodded satisfied beofre turning to a male viking. "What´ve we got ?"

"So far we´ve only got Terrible Terrors, Deadly Nadders, Hideous Zipplebacks, a few Grapple Grounder, three Timberjacks... oh, and Hoark said he saw a Monstrous Nightmare." The viking said before he ducked under his shield as an explosion happened behind him.

Liddan didn´t even flinch at the explosion as his eyes scanned the dark night sky for any specific movements. "Any Night Furies ?"

"None so far." The viking replied.

"Good." Liddan said, brushing a small bit of flaming ash of his shoulder as if nothing happened.

/ ... /

Lena meanwhile reached the forge as vikings lightend enormous torches and hoisting them in the air. This illuminated the sky, revealing many dragons flying in the sky.

"How nice of you to join the party ! I started to think ya´d been carried off !" She was greeted by the one-legged, one-armed blacksmith. A 43-year old muscular man wearing only brown pants and a black tool belt that is strapped diagonally around his upper body, a single black leather boot, and black leather gauntlets. He is bald, has grey eyes and a blonde braided beard. He has a wooden and metal leg prosthesis for his right leg and a wooden stick with an inwards going end, making it easier to hold things, as a left hand.

"What ? Me ? Nah, come on. You can´t get rid of me that easily." Lena scoffed while putting on a brown apron. "I´m way to innocent for a dragon´s taste. They wouldn´t know what to do with me."

"Well, even dragons need something to play with, don´t day ?" A girl joked as she entered the room carrying some swords. She appears to be the same age as Lena, has blue eyes and long blonde hair tied in a high braid tail. She wears a short sleeved dark red shirt, grey leggins, a short brown skirt, thick arm bracers covered in fur, and knee-high brown boots covered in fur as well.

"Ha ha, very funny Sieg." Lena said, rolling her eyes.

That´s Sieglinde Eremiah. She is one of Berks best young warriors, and the only person on this island who I can call a friend. She´s someone who is really there for me, and who won´t judge me just by my nature while everyone else does. For Sieglinde I belong here... for the rest of the village I don´t.

Lena then opened the window to the forge and damaged weapons were thrown into her arms. She got them over to the workbench and started to heat them up to repair them while Sieglinde handed out new weapons to the vikings.

"Keep it going you two. This might be a long night." The blacksmith said as he changed his wooden arm-prosthesis with a pincer-arm prosthesis.

Oh, and the meat-head with attitude and interchangeable hands is Gobber. I´ve been his apprentice ever since I was little.

/ ... /

Outside, the battle continued. Liddan was running across the wooden walkway with several vikings behind him, all of them carrying sheeps. "Move to the lower defenses ! We´ll counter-attack with the catapults !" He ordered firmly.

"Aye !" The vikings yelled as they ran past him. At the same time, more dragons flew in, burning everything in sight.

See ? Old village, many new buildings...

Through the window of the forge the girls could see the village´s fire brigade appearing on the scene. Four teenagers, all between the age of fourteen to sixteen. And here we have Nuffink Keatson, a boy who loves to share his large knowledge of dragons whenever he can, the Henderson-Twins Yin and Yang who are known for their hobby of causing immense trouble wherever they are, my annoying cousin Spiteloud Jorgenson, a strong build yet arrogant fighter with an ego the size of Berk, and finally Drake Eremiah , Sieg´s older brother and Berk´s most talented young warrior.

Nuffink ( 15 ) has green eyes and think shaggy blonde hair with two small braids. He wears a red tunic with gold trim around the neck and wrists, a brown belt around the waist, black trousers, a short sleeved dark brown fur vest and fur boots.

Yang ( 14 ) has brown eyes and short shaggy red hair at the top which then turns into a long braided hair tail. He is dressed in a pale green tunic, a middle-sleeved black fur vest, greyish-blue pants, black fur boots and a normal viking helmet.

Yin ( 14 ), green eyes, long red hair tied up into pigtails, dressed in a dark blue tunic, a short and sleevless black fur vest, dark brown trousers and black boots. Just like her brother she also wears a viking helmet.

Spitelout ( 15 ), has black hair, grey eyes, and has a big muscular frame. He wears a viking helmet with curved ram horns, beige pants, a greenish-blue leather tunic with a black bear fur vest over it and brown boots.

Drake ( 16 ) has spiky black hair, brown eyes, and a stubble if looked closely. He is also quite tall and muscular for his age and wears a sleevless black leather tunic with red scales on the shoulders and around the waist, spiked shoulder pads, brown wrist guards, grey trousers with metal leg guards and black boots.

Lena looked at her best friend who was starring at Nuffink. She shook her head with an amused smile and clicked her fingers in front of Sieglinde. "Berk to Sieg.."

"Yeah, what is it ?" Sieglinde asked as she shook her head.

"Still daydreaming with your feelings for Nuffink ?" Lena asked with a teasing voice.

"I have no idea what you´re talking about." Sieg replied innocently as she walked away from the window.

"You know you could actually be one of them..." Lena then said.

Sieglinde sighed. "Lena, we´ve been over this. One, I´m your friend, and I don´t turn back on my friends. And second, if they knew I actually don´t like fighting dragons, they would kick me out in a heartbeat."

Lena nodded at that. She was probably the only one who knew that Sieglinde doesn´t like fighting dragons. She only does it for self-defense and to honor her family. The Eremiah-Family was a clan of proud fighters who, after the Haddock-Family, earned Berk many important victories.

Lena then continued to watch the battle and think to herself. That´s when Gobber grabbed her and pulled her away from the window. "I know what you´re thinking, and you can forget it."

"Oh, come on, let me out please." Lena begged as Gobber let go fo her. "I need to show the village that I can be one of them."

"You´ve already tried that, and we all know how well that ended." Gobber stated.

"Please, just give me two minutes. I´ll kill a dragon, my life will get infinitely better... I might even get a few more friends !" Lena insisted firmly.

Gobber sighed annoyed. "I´m serious, Lena ! You know what your father wants !"

"This isn´t fair ! How am I supposed to be what everyone wants me to be... a strong, fearless dragon killer... if I´m locked up inside the house ?!" Lena snapped at the blacksmith, no longer holding back her anger. "I´m always seen as the weakling of this tribe ! Sieglinde and the others are allowed out there whenever they want ! What makes them different compared to me ?!"

Gobber could understand her situation, yet he wasn´t going to back down from the chief´s orders. "This isn´t about Sieglinde or the other teens. This is about you ... and what´s best for you."

Frustrated, Lena tried another approach. "Keep in mind, that you Sir are playing a dangerous and risky game... keeping me locked up inside of here..." She tried to sound threatening while closing in on the blacksmith. "There will be consequences !"

Gobber didn´t seem intimidated one bit. And he had enough of this argument. "I´ll take my chances. Sword... sharpen... now !" He ordered, handing her a large sword.

Sighing in defeat, Lena walked over to the other side of the forge and placed the sword on the sharpener. Sieglinde looked at her with a sympathetic smile.

One day I´ll go out there. Taking down dragons is everything around here. The head of a Nadder is sure to get me at least noticed. Timberjacks are rough, with their wings who can slice through anything. Taking down one of those would definitely get me some friends. A Zippleback ? Exotic. Two heads, twice the status.

Outside, the chief was on one of the catapult towers with his viking men as an explosion happened only a short distance away. The next thing they saw were sheep running around in fear. "They found the sheep !" A viking yelled.

"Concentrate fire over the lower bank !" Liddan bellowed, helping getting the catapult into position. A viking then pulled the release, and a large boulder is launched towards a group of dragons.

Oh, almost forgot. There is also the Monstrous Nightmare. Only the best warriors go after those. They have quite the nasty habit of setting themselves on fire.

Liddan walked towards the ledge of the tower, his eyes searching for any kind of movement. Only seconds later, a large Nightmare came bursting through the wooden base of the tower, its entire body allight. It snarled at the chief who grabbed a hammer. "Reload !" He ordered his men, then smiled confident. "I´ll take care of this !" He then slammed the hammer at the dragon while dodging its sharp fangs.

Both then suddenly froze in mid-attack as the sound of a high-pitched whirl echoed through the air. The dragon´s eyes widened for a split second before it smirked and quickly flew away. However... the ultimate prize is the dragon no one has ever seen. We call it the...

"NIGHT FURY ! Get down !" Some villagers yelled and all vikings within hearing range immediately ducked under their shields and the catapult tower suddenly exploded in a purplish-blue light before a wild fire consumed it. "JUMP !" Liddan shouted as he and his men got away just in time.

This dragon never steals food... never shows itself... and ... never misses !

Seconds later, another catapult tower was blasted to pieces. Sieglinde and Lena looked at each other, then ran over to the window to look outside, just as the second tower collapsed. No one has ever killed a Night Fury... that´s why I´ll be the first.

Gobber switched on an axe-prosthesis and begun to walk out of the forge. "You two man the fort. They need me out there." He said before he glared at Ciel. "Stay here !" He ordered strictly, then with a battle cry he entered the fight.

Once the blacksmith left, Lena went to the small side-room of the forge. She pulled a blanket away, revealing a large, modified crossbow launcher. It was designed by her to launch nets or bolas at a faster speed and higher altitude than an average viking.

Sieglinde looked at her friend. "Has anyone ever told you that you´re quite stubborn ?"

"Runs in the family." Lena replied with a shrug.

Sieglinde only sighed. "Alright. But set it up at the back of the forge. And I´ll go with you."

Lena nodded, then pointed to the shelf behind her friend. "Mind grapping those green nets. They´re made out of a special material that makes them remain on the water surface even when trapping something."

"Wow. That means you can still find the dragon should it end up crashing into the ocean when hit." Sieglinde said as she held up one of the nets. "Where did you get those from ?"

"Trader Johan can get you nearly anything you need, as long as you return the favor of course." Lena replied and Sieglinde couldn´t help but smirk. Her friend sure was smart.

/ ... /

Meanwhile at the other end of the village, Liddan and his men were struggling to capture a group of Deadly Nadders who refused to go down without a fight. "Stay on guard ! These devils still have some juice in them !" Liddan warned as he jumped onto a large male Nadder and pinned it down.

/ ... /

Returning to the forge, the girls had finished setting up the crossbow launcher and were now focusing on the sky.

"Come on, give me something to shoot at..." Lena said softly. That´s when the two teenagers heard a faint roar and noticed an almost invisible shadow move in the dark sky.

"Night Fury up ahead." Sieglinde said, pointing to the moving shadow.

"I see it too." Lena said, carefully taking aim. She then fired and the force of the upgraded weapon nearly made her fall down. Only seconds later, the net was reduced to nothingness by a purplish blast. This surprised the girls.

"I think you missed." Sieglinde said while a roar echoed through the air.

"Oh really ?" Lena replied while she rolled her eyes.

"Quite the dragon. It sensed the danger and quickly counter-attacked." Sieglinde said as she looked at the sky, then to Lena. "Now what ?"

Before Lena could answer, she heard a roar along with the dreading high-pitched whirl sound and her eyes windened. "Hit the ground... hit the ground now !" She shouted and quickly pushed Sieglinde and herself onto the ground. Just in time, as seconds later, the purplish blast hit the forge, setting it completely ablaze.

"Um... I think we pissed that dragon off." Sieglinde said as both of them slowly pushed themselves up to look at the now burning forge.

"Apparently." Lena groaned as they got up and walked around the burning building.

The Dragon Raid was soon over as the dragons started flying away from Berk, and they were not leaving with empty claws. Liddan and many vikings returned to the centre of Berk and the girls suddenly felt an uneasy pressure around them. Oh, my bad. There is still one little thing you should probably know...

Lena sighed as she and Sieglinde turned to face the crowd. "Sorry... father."

That´s right. I´m the daughter and only child of Chief Liddan Haddock. I´m next in line in becoming leader of the Hooligan Tribe of Berk. Sadly, this isn´t really welcomed due to my friendly and soft nature and my lack of strength and skill in combat. Yet, I still want to believe that I will be accepted by the villagers one day.

/ ... /

"What happened here ?" Liddan asked, gesturing to the now smoking bits of burned wood.

"My forge ?!" Gobber whined as he rushed over to what little remained of his workshop.

"We´re alive and fine, thank you for asking, Gobber." Sieglinde said sarcastically, then turned to the chief. "We got a Night Fury at the front door. It blasted the forge to pieces since it was angry at us for trying to shoot it out of the sky."

Liddan narrowed his eyes and turned to look at his daughter. "Was that your idea ?"

"No ! ..." Lena wanted to deny it out of instinct, but quickly decided it was better to say the truth. "Okay... yes... but can you blame me, father ?! I only try to be what you and everyone else wants me to be ! And seriously, to be a real dragon slayer you need to... well... kill a dragon... or am I wrong ?" She sighed, sad and frustrated, already knowing what her father was going to say.

For a moment there is silence, then Liddan sighed. "Lena... I´m starting to believe that you will be everything in the future but a dragon killer." He said, not noticing the sad expression on his daughter´s face. "Now go back home. We´ll talk more later." With that he turned to the villagers. "Alright everyone. We´ve got many things to repair, starting with the forge." And so he left with most villagers.

Once they left, Lena felt a gentle yet serious meant slap on the head from Gobber. She knew what he wanted to say with this and nodded before heading home. On the way she was met with mocks from nearly all the other teens.

"Quite an outstanding performance, Haddock." Yang jeered while his sister laughed.

"Nice going, weakling." Spitelout mocked with a smile.

"And to think someone like you is supposed to be our future leader... pathetic !" Drake taunted with a smirk.

Lena simply ignored them, but Sieglinde was angry. She walked over to them, and while she couldn´t stand up to her brother in strength yet, that didn´t include the other boys. Without a warning she roughly shoved Yang and Spitelout to the ground, earning complains from them. She then glanced at Nuffink to see if he had anything to say, but he just looked away, wanting to stay out of this. Seeing this, Sieglinde just sighed and walked away, knowing that talking to them would be pointless.

/ ... /

Having caught up to Lena, the girls soon reached the Haddock House and went straight to Lena´s room on the upper floor. Lena then flopped down onto her bed and hugged her pillow.

"Well, that night went good..." Sieglinde said as she sat down at her friend´s desk. "Are you okay ?"

"My father is so mean..." Lena mumbled into her pillow before she rolled onto her back, then sat up. "He just never listens to anything I say. And the few times he does its always with this disappointed scowl, like someone skimped all the meat in his sandwich..." Now she tried to imitate her father. "Excuse me Bar Maid, I´m afraid you brought me the wrong offspring. I asked for a son ! Tall, muscular, with extra guts and glory on the side ! This girl here... is not worth to be my successor !"

Sieglinde winced at those words. What made it worse is that the current relationship between father and daughter make those words look quite real. She then took a deep breath. "To ease up that problem... maybe it´s better for you to stop trying so hard to be something you´re not."

"I just want to be one of you guys. Is that too much to ask ?" Lena asked softly.

Sieglinde could only look at her with a sad expression as she couldn´t answer that.

/ ... /

Later in the morning, Liddan and the rest of the Vikings were gathered around the central fire pit in the Great Hall. They were discussing on what to do next since the attacks of the dragons are getting more intense as the dragons appear to be even more relentless in their objective.

"Either we finish them or they'll finish us !" Liddan proclaimed to the rest of the Vikings. "It's the only way we'll be rid of them." He continued, slamming a hand down on the table. "If we find their nest and destroy it the dragons will leave. They'll find another home !" He took a knife and plunged it into a region on the map in front of him, a foggy, uncharted area where the dragon nest was said to be. "One more search, before the ice sets in !"

"Those ships never come back !" A Viking pointed out.

"We're Vikings, it's an occupational hazard ! Now who's with me ?" Liddan asked. No one spoke up, although there was an increase in the muttering. "All right !" He stood to his full height. "Those who stay will keep an eye on my daughter." Everyone instantly raised their hand to volunteer. Liddan nodded satisfied. "Now that's more like it."

As everyone then left to prepare for the search, Liddan walked up to Gobber who was sitting near the back of the room. "Alright. I'll pack me undies," Gobber said, getting ready to leave as well.

"No, I need you to stay and train some new recruits." The chief said as he sat down.

Gobber rolled his eyes and fiddled with his mug-arm-prosthesis. "Perfect. And while I'm busy, Lena can cover the stall ! Molten steel, razor-sharp blades, a head full of ideas and lots of time to herself… what could possibly go wrong ?" He said sarcastically.

Liddan sighed, remembering the situation with his daughter. "Oh, what am I gonna do with her, Gobber ?"

"Put her in Dragon Training with the other teens." Gobber suggested.

"No, I'm serious !" Liddan said, clearly not liking the suggestion.

"So am I." Gobber answered.

"She'll be killed before you let the first dragon out of its cage." Liddan said, showing how little he thinks of his own daughter.

"Oh, you don't know that." Gobber replied, dismissively going back to his drink.

"I do, actually." Liddan said.

"No yeh don't." Gobber retorted.

"Yes, I do." Liddan repeated.

"No, yeh don't !" Gobber said, more louder this time.

"Gobber ! You know what she's like… !" Liddan stated, standing up and walking back and forth. "Even before she could crawl she´s been... different. She doesn't listen… she has the attention span of a sparrow… one day I took her out fishing and she snuck away to go hunting for… for trolls ?!"

"Trolls exist ! They steal yer socks. But only the left ones. What's with that ?" Gobber wondered, turning back to his drink. Liddan sighed at that. At least now he knew where his daughter got that stupid idea from...

"When I was a boy-..." Liddan decided to start sharing a story from when he was in his early teenage years.

"Oh here we go..." Gobber muttered under his breath and rolled his eyes.

"My father told me to bash my head against a rock and I did it. I thought he was crazy, but I did it anyway. And you know what happened ?" Liddan said, but it sounded like he was a bit talking to himself here.

"You got a headache." Gobber guessed sarcastically.

"That rock split in two. It… it taught me what a Viking can do, Gobber. He can crush mountains, level forests, and tame seas ! Even as a boy I knew what I was, what I had to become…" Liddan sat back down with a deep sigh. "Lena is nothing like that."

"You´re right. She isn´t." Gobber said, his expression now quite soft. "That´s because she´s a second Hikari."

Liddan for once agreed with that. And it made him both happy and sad. Hikari was his wife and Lena´s mother. She was a beautiful woman with a friendly and soft nature. Yet she was also brave and strong, always standing up for what she believed was right. And while she wasn´t a dragon slayer, she still could hold her own against those beings, earning her respect from many villagers. Sadly, she died seven years ago during a Dragon Raid. And things have never been the same since that night.

"She´ll go out there again, so you might as well give her a chance, Liddan. Your daughter is stronger than you think." Gobber said firmly before he stood up to leave the chief to think about this.

/ ... /

It was now afternoon. Inside the chief´s house, Lena was still sitting on her bed with her arms wrapped around her knees. Sieglinde had left a while ago to help with the repairs around the village.

Lena´s eyes narrowed slightly. ("A world where killing a dragon is everything... if I´m not supposed to be a dragon killer... then what am I meant to be... ?") She thought to herself before a certain something caught her eye. It hung on the right end of her bed. A long white scarf with shredded ends. Hikari´s scarf... the last remain Lena has of her beloved mother.

Lena carefully took the scarf in her right hand and caressed it with her index finger. "Oh Mama... what should I do ? Father has changed so much... I really wish you were here..." She hugged the scarf close to her chest, a single tear running down her face.

It was that moment she heard a distant roar, and her head snapped up in surprise. She quickly got up and looked out of the open window that was just a bit above her bed. "Was that... the roar of a dragon ?" She wondered. There seemed nothing special out there, but then she heard the roar again. It was faint but definitely there.

"That sounded like it came from the forest near Raven Point." Lena just stared out there for a bit, then she smiled slightly and went to grab a bow and a quiver full of arrows from beside her bed. "Okay... okay... I probably shouldn´t go out there by myself... it will surely earn me an ear full from Sieg..." Her smile grew bigger. "But my curiosity is winning here. And like Mama used to say... no risk - no gain." With that she hurried out of the house, grabbing a net from their weapon basket on the way out.

/ ... /

Sieglinde was on her way home to get herself a snack after having helped with the repairs around the village. She then stopped as she heard a commotion going on over by the docks. Checking it out, she saw that a few ships were being prepared to sail. "Another hunt for the Dragon Nest." She realized.

Reaching her home, she walked in to find her fourty-two year old father Rey Eremiah packing some things. He looks like a grown up, mor muscular version of Drake, with even wearing similiar clothes, and also a dark brown fur cape.

"Sieglinde, I´ll be joining the chief for another hunt for the Dragon Nest. I trust you´ll be fine on your own." Rey said once he noticed his daughter came in.

"Of course I will. I´m a warrior, after all." Sieglinde replied proudly.

"Good." Rey nodded his head. He then grabbed his satchel and two swords. "Gobber will start Dragon Training once me and the others leave, and you will be joining along with your brother."

"Do I really have too ?" Sieglinde moaned, not looking forward to be stuck in the same place as her brother. "I´ve been working very hard at improving my warrior skills. I don´t think I´ll need all the extra training."

"I don´t doubt your skills, Sieglinde, but this kind of training is very important." Rey said firmly. "The recruit who does best will earn the honor to kill his first dragon in front of the entire village. And while your brother is strong, I want you to be the Eremiah to earn that honor. Understood ?"

"Yes Sir." Sieglinde said with a nod, although she wasn´t excited at all. But she didn´t have the courage to argue with her father.

"That´s my girl." Rey said and then left.

/ ... /

Lena has been walking through the forest at Raven Point for two-and-a-half hours now, and all she found was a some wild boars and three nests of bird-families.

Looking up at the sky, she gave a small sigh. "It´s getting late." She wasn´t paying attention on how far she already walked. "Guess whatever dragon that was has already flown away. Just my luck- AHHH ?!" The next thing Lena knew, she had suddenly slipped down a slope and landed hard on her left side. "Oww... that hurt..." She rubbed her left arm a bit before looking ahead. She finds herself standing near a large opening through what appears to be some kind of cave-path with light shining on the other end.

Curious, Lena walked through the path, and upon reaching the other end, was met with an unexpected sight. There in front of her was a large and beautiful cove with a crystal clear lake in the middle. "Wow... who would have thought Berk had such beautiful hidden places."

However, suddenly the silence of nature was broken by a loud roar coming from right above the cove. Seconds later, a familiar purplish blast of fire slammed right into the lake, causing the water to be sprayed in all directions. Many fish then landed on the grassy ground.

Hiding in the shadow of the passageway , Lena watched as the dragon then landed near the lake. It was medium-sized, with a sleek yet muscular, entierly black body. Has a pair of strong looking wings and a pair of tail fins at the end of its tail, and four ear-like appendages on its head.

The dragon then began to eat the fish while Lena couldn´t believe her eyes. The roar... the purplish blast... and black as the sky at night... there was no doubt about it. That dragon down there... is a NIGHT FURY !

("Is the world kidding me ?! Of all the dragons I could have encountered... it´s a freaking Night Fury !") She thought as she continued to watch the dragon.

An idea then formed in her head and she smiled. ("Oh, that´s... that´s my chance to finish what I started last night ! If I kill it, I won´t be the village weakling anymore ! The other teens would go crazy. So would my father. So would everyone !")

Excited, she slowly and carefully made her way down towards the dragon. To her luck, the Night Fury was too busy eating to notice her. She took out the net she had brought along. It was another one she got from Trader Johan. This one was special. It was coated with a thin layer of a venom that was harmless to humans, but paralyzing for a dragon. The effects only hold for about three minutes though.

Thinking she was close enough, Lena then threw the net at the Night Fury, but at the same time a sharp pain shot through her left side, resulting in her missaiming. The net landed inshes away from the dragon. "Oh... oh that was a bad idea." Lena said while holding her left arm, mentally cursing herself for forgetting that she had hurt herself erlier when she slid down that slope.

The Night Fury immediately turned around. At first it looked surprised, then with a furious roar it charged right at her. However, by an unfortunate stroke of luck, the dragon tripped onto the net and trapped itself in it. Lena just watched as the Night Fury roared while it frantically tried to get the net off of itself, until eventually it knocked itself out by hitting its head on a large rock. It then fell to the ground.

"And here I thought it was smart..." Lena said as she was quite stunned at what just happened. She then walked up to the dragon and grabbed her bow and arrow, ready to finish this. Her hands however were shaking a little bit. Why, she didn know. "Easy, Lena... it´ll be fine..." She tried to calm her nerves, but then heard a low growl.

Taking two steps to the side, she was met by stunning and beautiful different colored eyes with a black slit-pupil. The right eye is a greenish-yellow while the left eye is a bluish-silver. Lena just stared right into its eyes, and for a moment she seemed lost in them. Then she shook her head and took a deep breath. She took aim with her weapon. "I´m gonna kill you, dragon. I... I´m gonna kill you and take your corpse back to the village for everyone to see. Finally... finally I will be accepted !"

Ready to end the Night Fury´s life, Lena took one more glance down... and the Night Fury was still looking at her... its eyes shaking ever so slightly, like it was pleading... it was scared !

Seeing this... she couldn´t bring herself to kill it, and after a while which felt like forever, she lowered her bow and arrow. She took a few steps back. "I... I can´t do this..."

Lena turned to look towards the path in the rocks where she came from, and then back at the trapped dragon. She sighed. "I´m gonna regret this..." With that she walked back to the dragon and bent down to grab the net. She took another deep breath, then ripped the net off of the Night Fury and threw it into the lake.

*ROAR !*

The Night Fury right away pounced on top of her and growled, its claws digging into her shirt. Now it was Lena who was scared. But she still looked up at the dragon who was glaring at her. However, its eyes didn´t look as hostile as when it tried to attack her erlier.

Eventually the Night Fury´s wings spread out and it roared right into Lena´s face. Then it jumped away from her and took to the skies.

Breathing heavily, Lena slowly stood back up and watched as the Night Fury disappeared amongst the now darkening sky. She had no words to descripe what just happened.

Only one question can be asked.

Why didn´t either side kill each other when it has always been like this for centuries ?
