A small Scorp/Rose drabble written for Sab! I hope you like this!

Rose had always been compared to her mother throughout her Hogwarts education, and it was a comparison that she had always cherished. Her mother was awesome! However, the tone had turned negative since rumours started about her being in a relationship with Scorpius. The worst thing about it was that the rumours were true. She was dating the Slytherin.

Nothing like her mother

An embarrassment

She'd never be that stupid

Those words hurt. Scorpius tried to understand but he had become desensitised to their insults and was a lot better at ignoring them than her. She hadn't dealt with it directly before. How was one supposed to cope with the whispers?

What made it more difficult for her to understand was that she didn't know why anyone would even have a problem with her relationship.

Scorpius was one of the sweetest and compassionate individuals she had met. He was ambitious in all of the right ways and a hard-worker.

Why was Scorpius and Albus allowed to be friends, but she wasn't allowed to date him?

With a frustrated groan, Rose finally moved from her dorm, through the common room, and down the stairs. Her right hand twitched as she passed other students. She couldn't help it. If she heard one more comment, she was going to silence them with a hex.

Her eyes scanned the hallway as she walked, looking at the groups of students minding their own business, glancing at the portraits paying attention to everything and nothing at the same time, and seeing the large doorway which led out into the spring weather just meters away.

Fresh air filled her lungs as the bright light blinded her. Rose paused to adjust to being outside before looking around for Scorpius. There weren't many students outside which made it easier for her to locate him sitting on the edge of the water fountain, a book discarded beside him as he was talking to a fellow student.

As she approached him, he turned his attention to her and smiled. Before she reached him, he had excused himself and stood up, ready to give her his full attention. That was another thing she lo-liked about him.

"Are you ready for my surprise date?" he asked.

Even though Rose's mind had been plagued with the negative thoughts and hadn't given this date much though, the prospect of it sent butterflies to her stomach. She nodded. "More than ready. Lead the way."

Scorpius grinned and rested a hand on her back as he led her towards the Black Lake. It was these moments, when she was with him, where she was able to ignore all the whispers. Maybe that's all that really mattered.
