Chapter 28: Goku Vs Orochimaru I
The journey to Otogakure was a grueling one, stretching over three tense and anxiety-ridden days. Each member of the team was deeply immersed in their own thoughts and feelings, their actions and interactions shaped by the gravity of their mission.
The air was thick with anticipation and unspoken fears. Each member carried their own burdens, their faces set with determination, but the underlying dread was palpable.
Goku, despite his usual carefree demeanor, was unusually quiet. The responsibility of the mission weighed heavily on his young shoulders. He knew that his power would be crucial, but the thought of the potential destruction he might cause gnawed at him.
His eyes darted around, taking in the expressions of his comrades, and he wondered if he was truly prepared for what lay ahead.
Hinata adjusted the straps of her backpack, her heart pounding in her chest. The recent conversation with her father lingered in her mind, providing a source of strength but also a reminder of the high expectations placed upon her. She glanced at Goku, her resolve hardening, but the anxiety was still there, gnawing at the edges of her confidence.
She would have to prove herself, not just to her father, but to her friends and her village. To herself.
Naruto, as usual, was a bundle of energy, though even he felt the somber mood. He kept stealing glances at Sakura, who walked beside him with a determined look on her face. He knew how much this mission meant to her, and he was ready to support her in any way he could. Yet, beneath his bravado, he felt a cold knot of fear.
- Flashback no Jutsu -
Naruto's eyes blazed with fury. "Orochimaru-teme! What did you do to her?!"
Orochimaru's smile widened. "Just a little persuasion, Naruto. Nothing to worry about."
Jiraiya stood, positioning himself between Orochimaru and the others. "You've gone too far this time, Orochimaru. As usual. How inhumane can you become?"
Orochimaru laughed, the sound devoid of any warmth. "And so what if I am inhuman? Just what are you going to do about it, Jiraiya? You always were the weakest of us."
With a sudden movement, the serpent kneed the toad in the gut, the force of the blow sending him flying across the room. Jiraiya also crashed into the bar, his body crumpling as he struggled to breathe.
"Ero-sennin!" Naruto shouted, rushing to his side.
Orochimaru watched with a twisted grin. "You see, Naruto, the gap between us is insurmountable. You can't hope to defeat me."
Tsunade, still on the ground, looked up at Orochimaru with a mix of hatred and sorrow. "You monster! You've taken everything I had left from me!"
The snake tilted his head, feigning innocence. "Have I? Or have I simply given you a new purpose?"
Naruto's anger boiled over, his chakra flaring as he faced Orochimaru, eyes becoming red with black slits. "I'll never forgive you for this! Or for jiji!"
- Present no Jutsu -
Orochimaru was no ordinary enemy, and the stakes were higher than they had ever been. Could he really be beaten? After killing the Old Man and then demoralizing Ero-sennin and Tsunade-baachan with such ease, he couldn't help but feel trepidation...
Sasuke's face was impassive, but inside, he was seething with a desire for revenge. Orochimaru had wronged him in ways that still haunted his dreams. This mission was a chance to settle the score, and he was prepared to go to any lengths to see it through. The thought of failure was intolerable, and he knew that even a single mistake could cost him everything.
There was no seeking him for power in this timeline, he had all he needed at home. Son Goku effect.
Kiba walked with Akamaru at his side, the bond between them still going strong. He felt a sense of duty to protect his friends and his village, and the presence of Akamaru was a comforting reminder of the strength they shared. But the thought of facing Orochimaru and his twisted creations filled him with a fierce dread.
He could only hope that they were truly prepared for what lay ahead.
Shikamaru, ever the strategist, was deep in thought. His mind was already working through various scenarios, trying to anticipate the challenges ahead. He knew the stakes were high, and the weight of leadership pressed down on him because of it. He couldn't afford to make any mistakes.
Every decision could mean the difference between life and death.
Sakura was resolute, her mind set on proving herself. The training she had undergone with Naruto had boosted her confidence, but she knew that this mission would test her like never before. She was ready to face whatever came her way, determined to step out of the shadows and show her true strength.
But the fear of failure still lingered, a constant shadow over her thoughts.
As the first day wore on, the team set up their first camp. The atmosphere was heavy, but they managed to find some comfort in the familiarity of their routine. Shikamaru delegated tasks efficiently, ensuring that everyone had a role to play.
While gathering firewood, Hinata found herself next to Goku.
She hesitated for a moment before speaking. "Goku, are you... okay? You seem different."
Goku looked up, surprised by the concern in her voice. "I'm just thinking about the mission. It's a lot to take in."
Hinata nodded, understanding. "I understand. For what it's worth, I believe in you."
Goku smiled, feeling a bit lighter. "Thanks Hinata that means a lot. I believe in you too."
No romance for the time being, it was all business.
Around the campfire, the team shared a quiet meal. Naruto tried to lighten the mood with his usual antics, but even he couldn't dispel the tension. They all knew what lay ahead and that each step brought them closer to a deadly confrontation.
As night fell, the team settled in for a restless sleep. Each member lay awake, lost in their own thoughts. The quiet of the night was filled with the sounds of the forest, but to them, it felt ominous and foreboding...
In the depths of Otogakure, hidden far beneath the surface, lay a clandestine laboratory. The air was thick with the acrid scent of chemicals and the constant hum of machinery, blending with the occasional hiss of steam and the clinking of glassware. Shadows danced on the walls, cast by flickering, fluorescent lights that barely penetrated the gloom. This was the latest addition to Orochimaru's network, a place where dark science and twisted ambitions converged in a symphony of malevolence.
Orochimaru, his serpentine eyes gleaming with an unsettling mix of anticipation and delight, stood beside a tall, gaunt man. This man, with sharp features and glasses that reflected the dim light, was Dr. Gero, a scientist whose brilliance was matched only by his malevolence. The laboratory was filled with an array of technological wonders and biological horrors, products of Gero's unparalleled genius and Orochimaru's boundless resources.
Every surface was cluttered with beakers filled with bubbling liquids, complex machines with blinking lights, and charts detailing grotesque experiments. Tubes and wires snaked across the floor, connecting various devices that hummed and whirred ominously. The oppressive atmosphere was suffused with a sense of foreboding, as if the very walls whispered secrets of the dark deeds committed within.
Kabuto stood a few steps behind them, his usual composed demeanor replaced by a mix of curiosity and unease. His sharp eyes scanned the room, taking in the macabre sights, while his mind churned with questions. He watched intently as Orochimaru conversed with Gero, their voices low and filled with a sinister excitement that sent shivers down his spine.
"Orochimaru-sama," Dr. Gero began, adjusting his glasses with a precise, almost mechanical movement. "I've been able to extract more of Goku's cells from the remnants left after his attack on the Red Ribbon Army headquarters. These cells hold incredible potential, far beyond anything we've seen before."
Orochimaru's eyes gleamed with a predatory light, a smile playing on his lips. "Excellent, Gero. I trust you have prepared a further dosage for me?"
Gero nodded, a twisted grin spreading across his face as he gestured to a nearby table. There, amidst a clutter of surgical tools and vials, lay a syringe filled with a glowing, luminescent liquid. "This serum will enhance your abilities beyond anything we've achieved before. But what of Kabuto? Should he not receive the same enhancement to ensure he can stand against Goku?"
Orochimaru's smile turned cold, his eyes narrowing. "Kabuto is my loyal servant, but I cannot risk him becoming a threat to me. No, he will not receive Goku's cells. That being said, I still need him to be powerful."
Kabuto's eyes widened slightly at Orochimaru's words. Despite his unwavering loyalty, the implication that he could be a threat was deeply unsettling. He remained silent, knowing better than to question his master outright, but the seed of doubt had been planted.
Gero, intrigued by the challenge, began pacing the lab, his mind racing with possibilities. He stopped in front of a large set of schematics pinned to the wall, studying them intently before turning back to Orochimaru. "There is another option. I have been developing a new project—integrating advanced machinery with human biology. I call it the cyborg initiative. Kabuto could be the first of his kind."
Orochimaru's interest was piqued, his eyes alight with curiosity. "A cyborg, you say? Fascinating. What would this entail?"
Gero laid out the schematics on a metal table, pointing to various components with a gloved hand. "We would augment Kabuto's body with cutting-edge technology, enhancing his strength, speed, and durability. He would retain his human consciousness but gain the power of a machine. Imagine a perfect blend of flesh and steel, a warrior capable of surpassing human limitations."
Orochimaru's smile widened, a glint of madness in his eyes. "Perfect. Kabuto, you will undergo this procedure."
Kabuto's heart raced, fear mingling with resignation. "Orochimaru-sama, are you certain this is necessary? My current abilities—"
Orochimaru cut him off, his voice edged with a dangerous tone. "Do not question me, Kabuto. You will do this, or I will find another use for your remains."
Kabuto swallowed hard, realizing there was no escape from his fate. He bowed his head in submission, his voice barely above a whisper. "As you wish, Orochimaru-sama."
Gero's excitement was palpable as he began preparations immediately, his hands moving with practiced precision. "The procedure will take approximately two days. When it is complete, Kabuto will be unlike anything this world has ever seen."
Orochimaru's grin was one of pure satisfaction, his vision of power nearing fruition. "Excellent. While you work, I will make my final preparations. Once Kabuto is converted, we will confront Son Goku. I will crush him like a bug, and Kabuto will eliminate the rest of the pests, except for Sasuke and Goku. Goku will become my new host body, and I will take Sasuke's eyes. With their power, I will ascend to godhood."
Kabuto lay on the cold, steel operating table, his mind a tumult of fear and resignation. The clinical environment of the lab did nothing to soothe his anxiety. Gero began the procedure, his hands steady and precise as he worked to integrate flesh and machine, each incision and insertion a step closer to Kabuto's transformation.
Orochimaru watched with a mixture of fascination and impatience, his serpentine eyes never leaving the operating table. "Soon," he murmured to himself, "soon, I will have everything I desire. Kukukuku."
As the procedure progressed, the lab was filled with the sounds of machinery, the soft hum of electronics, and the occasional grunt of pain from Kabuto. Gero worked tirelessly, his focus absolute, his hands moving with a surgeon's precision. Orochimaru's vision of godhood grew ever closer to reality with each passing moment.
With Kabuto's transformation underway, Orochimaru's plans unfolding with meticulous precision, and the dark clouds of the impending confrontation gathering on the horizon, the stage was set for a clash of titanic proportions.
Goku stared at the stars, his mind racing. He had faced many challenges in his young life, but this felt different. The stakes were higher, and the consequences of failure were dire.
He couldn't shake the feeling that this mission would change everything.
Hinata lay on her side, her mind replaying her father's words. She had been given a chance to prove herself, but the fear of letting everyone down was a heavy burden. She closed her eyes, trying to find some semblance of peace, but sleep was elusive.
Naruto, usually so confident, felt a knot of fear in his stomach. He knew he had to be strong for his friends, but the thought of facing Orochimaru filled him with dread. He glanced over at Sakura, drawing strength from her resolve. They would face this together, no matter what.
Sasuke's dreams were haunted by thoughts of Orochimaru winning. He clenched his fists, vowing to end the one who had cursed him. And then the image of Haku appeared in his mind, calming his nerves and removing his nightmarish notions. Failure was not an option, and he would do whatever it took to succeed.
Kiba slept fitfully, keeping a hand on Akamaru, drawing comfort from his companion's presence. They had faced danger before, but this felt different. More final...
Shikamaru lay awake, his mind racing with plans and contingencies. He knew the odds were against them, but he had to believe in his team. They had come too far to turn back now.
Sakura's thoughts were a whirlwind of fear and determination. She had trained hard, but the thought of failing her friends was unbearable. She drew strength from Naruto's unwavering support, knowing they would face whatever came their way together.
The second day began early, with the team breaking camp and resuming their march. The landscape grew increasingly desolate as they neared Otogakure, as if it was an ominous sign of the dangers that awaited them.
Shikamaru called for a brief halt, gathering everyone for a quick briefing. "We're getting closer. Stay alert and be ready for anything. We'll be relying on Goku's senses and the dojutsu users to guide us through any hidden threats."
As they continued, Goku focused his energy and his range, trying to sense any unusual activity ahead. He could feel the presence of numerous chakra signatures, some faint, others disturbingly strong relative to his weaker teammates.
"There's a lot of them," he murmured to Shikamaru. "It's going to be tough."
Shikamaru nodded, his expression grim. "We expected that. Just stay sharp."
By midday, they set up their second camp. The atmosphere was even more tense than before.
Conversations were sparse, each member lost in their own thoughts.
Sakura took a moment to sit with Naruto. "Naruto, do you ever feel... scared?"
Naruto's usual bravado softened. "Yeah, I do. But that's why we have each other, right? When we work as a team, we can face anything. Isn't that what Kakashi-sensei said?"
Sakura smiled, feeling a bit of her anxiety melt away. "You're right. Thank you Naruto-kun."
Nearby, Sasuke was sharpening his kunai, his mind fixed on the upcoming battle. He noticed Hinata watching him. "What is it?"
Hinata hesitated. "I was just... wondering if you were okay."
Sasuke's expression softened slightly. "I will be. Once this is over."
Hinata nodded, sensing the depth of his resolve. "I agree, let's just make sure it ends with us on top."
The Uchiha gave one nod as well, wordlessly aligned with that sentiment. "Hn."
That night, as they gathered around the campfire, Shikamaru outlined the final leg of their journey.
"Tomorrow, we reach Otogakure. We need to be prepared for anything. Rest up and be ready."
The team settled into an uneasy sleep, their dreams filled with the looming confrontation. Goku lay awake for a while, staring at the stars and the constellations, allowing his mind to drift to his own origin story.
After all, that is where he is allegedly from, right?
The final day of their journey dawned, the team moving with a sense of grim determination.
Goku walked at the front, his senses on high alert. He could feel the energy signatures growing stronger, more distinct.
"We're close," he said, glancing back at Shikamaru.
Shikamaru nodded, signaling for a brief halt. "Everyone, get ready. This is it."
The journey to Otogakure had been long and arduous, each step laden with the heavy burden of their mission.
For three days, the team traveled with a singular focus: to confront and kill Orochimaru.
And everybody else.
As they approached the outskirts of Otogakure, the oppressive atmosphere intensified, casting a shadow over their resolve.
"What the hell is this..." Shikamaru muttered, standing before what could only be described as a maze.
Otogakure, if it could even be called a village, sprawled before them like a twisted labyrinth. The architecture was an unsettling blend of modern and archaic, with tunnels and hidden paths crisscrossing the area. The silence was deafening, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves or the distant call of a bird.
It was clear that this place was designed to confuse and trap intruders.
Shikamaru called the group together, his mind already working on a plan.
"We need to get a sense of what's out here," he said, his voice low but steady. "Goku, can you sense the energies around here?"
Goku closed his eyes, focusing intently. He let his senses expand, feeling the myriad of energies within Otogakure. "There are a lot of people," he said after a moment. "Some strong, some... distorted. Weird."
The others exchanged glances.
Shikamaru nodded and then turned to Hinata and Sasuke. "Activate your dojutsu. We need to see what's hidden from us."
Hinata's Byakugan and Sasuke's Sharingan flared to life, their keen eyes scanning the area.
"There are countless traps and hidden tunnels," Hinata reported. "It's designed to confuse and trap intruders."
Sasuke nodded, his Sharingan spinning as he analyzed the intricate network of defenses. "Navigating through this without triggering something might be impossible."
Shikamaru considered the risks and complexity of a stealth approach. The convoluted defenses of Otogakure made him uneasy...
Fuck it. Goku warfare it is.
"We're not going to play cat and mouse," he declared, against his usual preference for strategy and subtlety. "Goku, blow it all to hell. We need to flush out Orochimaru and his forces. Everyone else, get as far back as you can."
The team scattered, finding cover at a safe distance. Upon feeling that the others had gained enough distance, Goku rose into the sky, his young face set with determination. He reminded himself that his goal was to flush out the enemies, not to kill them. Steeling his resolve, he began to charge his Kamehameha.
The sky darkened as his energy built up, swirling around him in a brilliant blue aura. "KA...ME...HA...ME..."
The ground trembled beneath him, the air vibrating with raw power. With a final push, he unleashed the blast. "HAAAAAAA!"
The Kamehameha tore through the air, colliding with the ground below and obliterating the visible infrastructure of Otogakure.
KRAKOOM!
The resulting explosion was immense, sending debris flying and exposing the hidden layers of the village. As the dust settled, the scene below was revealed.
Thousands of rogue shinobi, twisted experiments, and Red Ribbon Army machines emerged from the wreckage.
However, Orochimaru and Kabuto were conspicuously absent.
Instead, Kimimaro, Jugo, Suigetsu, and Karin stepped forward to confront them.
Kimimaro stood at the forefront, his pale skin almost glowing in the dim light. His long, white hair cascaded down his back, and his piercing green eyes glinted with an eerie calm. He wore a simple white robe, the sleeves billowing slightly in the breeze, and his expression was one of stoic determination. The intricate tattoos on his face and body marked him as a member of the Kaguya clan, known for their bone-manipulating abilities.
Jugo was a towering figure, his muscular frame imposing. His wild orange hair framed a face marked by a perpetual scowl. His eyes, a vibrant shade of orange, held a look of barely contained rage. He wore a sleeveless shirt and pants, his arms and legs bandaged from numerous battles. The curse mark on his body pulsed with a dark energy, a constant reminder of the uncontrollable power within him.
Suigetsu had a lean, athletic build, his pale skin giving him an almost ethereal appearance. His short, spiky white hair contrasted sharply with his sharp, shark-like teeth. His eyes were a cold, calculating blue, and he carried a massive sword strapped to his back, the hilt jutting over his shoulder. He wore a sleeveless, form-fitting outfit, allowing him to move with fluid grace and deadly precision.
Karin stood slightly behind the others, her red hair framing her face in wild, untamed locks. She wore glasses that gave her a scholarly appearance, but her eyes held a fierce intensity. Her outfit was a mix of practicality and style, with a dark, form-fitting top and pants that allowed for easy movement. She had a certain aura of authority about her, her posture confident despite the tension in the air.
Huh, Karin was with Orochimaru?
- Flashback no Jutsu -
"What's your name?" He blurted out. Her energy had a similar feel to a certain orphan...
"K-Karin Uzumaki."
"Uzumaki? Is that a clan or something?" He questioned further. The last names might not have been a coincidence.
The girl blinked a bit, causing Goku to scratch the back of his head sheepishly.
"My clan was destroyed ages ago, nobody knows of them!"
"You're right I don't know about them. I just know your energy felt kinda like someone else I know," he said intellectually. "That someone being Uzumaki Naruto."
The girl was at a loss for words.
The loud blonde-haired boy from the first exam was a member of her extinct clan?
"S-so I have family?" She said, her voice breaking before a happy smile emerged on her face.
Goku nodded hesitantly. "Maybe."
"My clan isn't gone! I'm not alone and have family, I'm so relieved!" She said aloud. "On that note, what's your name...?"
"My name is Son Goku," he said before getting back to business. "Now...I hate to say it, but I need that Heaven scroll."
The girl sighed before pulling out a scroll labelled 'Heaven' and handing it to him.
"Given how you solo'd my team I guess I don't have a choice huh," she stated with a small pout.
"Nope," Goku responded, analyzing the scroll to make sure it looked similar to his Earth scroll. And then he turned to leave, whipping his head around. "You take care!"
"You too! See you later Goku...kun."
- Present no Jutsu -
Goku's eyes widened in recognition as he saw Karin. "Karin? What are you doing here?"
Karin blushed, her eyes lighting up. "Goku-kun! I didn't expect to see you again."
Hinata raised an eyebrow, noticing the exchange. She glanced at Goku with an apprehensive look, to which he shrugged sheepishly.
They'd talk about it later... if they were blessed with a later.
Regardless, the tension between the two sides grew with each passing second, the air thick with anticipation.
Shikamaru, sensing the growing tension, spoke up. "We don't have time for this. Goku, Kiba, and Akamaru, you go search for Orochimaru. The rest of us will handle these guys."
Goku nodded, his eyes determined. "Got it."
Shikamaru continued, "Kiba, Akamaru, if you find Orochimaru, come back and signal us. The rest of you, we're going to take down everyone who stands in our way. Sakura, you guard me and support the others."
The plan was set. Goku, Kiba, and Akamaru took off, their mission clear.
The remaining members of the team prepared for battle.
With Goku, Kiba, and Akamaru already on their way, Shikamaru assessed the situation. The foes before them were not to be taken lightly, he knew next to nothing about any of them.
He'd have to adjust the game-plan as the game went on, which was still cool with him.
Kimimaro, with his stoic expression and unsettling calmness, spoke first. "You've made a grave mistake coming here."
Sasuke stepped forward, his Sharingan eyes locking onto Kimimaro. "And you've made a mistake challenging us."
Jugo's growl reverberated through the air, his muscles tensing as he eyed Naruto and Sakura. "I'm not here to talk. I'm here to destroy anyone who stands in our way."
Suigetsu chuckled, unsheathing his massive sword. "Finally, some excitement. Let's see if you're as tough as you look."
Hinata, standing beside Naruto, activated her Byakugan once more, scanning for any hidden threats. "We need to stay focused. They don't look like they play fair. They will use any opportunity to strike."
Shikamaru quickly outlined their strategy. "We can't let them distract us. Naruto, you're on crowd control. Sasuke and Hinata, take on the white haired guy and the orange man. Sakura and I will handle the water guy and Karin. We will hold them off until Goku returns with news on Orochimaru. Or if possible, we kill them ourselves."
As the two sides squared off, the tension was palpable. Each member of the team steeled themselves for the impending battle, fully aware of the stakes. The moment stretched on, every second feeling like an eternity.
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock. Ti-
Hajime.
Kimimaro moved first, his bones protruding from his skin as he launched an attack at Sasuke. Sasuke countered with a burst of fire from his mouth, the two forces clashing in a shower of sparks and debris.
Jugo roared, charging at Hinata with terrifying speed.
THOOOOOM!
Hinata met him head-on, their fists colliding with a thunderous impact that shook the ground.
Suigetsu swung his sword at Sakura, who deftly dodged and retaliated with a powerful punch that sent him staggering back.
Shikamaru stood back, his mind working furiously to devise a strategy.
The battlefield quickly became a vast expanse of chaos, a clash of steel and jutsu echoing through the air as two formidable forces collided. Naruto, Sasuke, Hinata, Shikamaru, and Sakura stood resolute against the overwhelming tide of Otogakure's finest. Before them lay an army of rogue shinobi, monstrous science experiments, and mechanical abominations from the Red Ribbon Army, led by the fearsome quartet of Kimimaro, Jugo, Suigetsu, and Karin.
On the surface, it seemed a hopeless battle. The sheer number of foes threatened to swallow the valiant members of Team Kill Orochimaru whole, but Naruto's resolve never wavered. With a determined shout, he formed the hand seals for his signature technique.
"Tajuu Kage Bunshin no Jutsu!"
In an instant, the battlefield was flooded with two thousand Naruto clones, each a perfect replica of the original. The scales of the battle shifted slightly as the clones engaged the enemy, their sheer numbers attempting to balance the odds.
Yet, for every ten clones dispelled, only one enemy fell, barely denting the ranks of Otogakure's forces.
Despite the effort, the Konoha shinobi were being pushed to their limits.
Naruto moved with purpose amidst the chaos, his eyes scanning the battlefield for opportunities. He was a whirlwind of energy, using his clones to create openings and exploit weaknesses, but the Oto-nin and Red Ribbon Army robots were relentless, their superior numbers and unyielding aggression overwhelming Naruto's attempts.
"Hold the line!" Naruto shouted, his voice tinged with desperation. "We can't let them break through!"
Sasuke, meanwhile, locked eyes with Kimimaro. The pale, deadly shinobi stood calmly amidst the chaos, his body a fortress of bones. Their clash was a symphony of speed and precision, kunai and bone clashing in a dance of death.
"Impressive, Uchiha," Kimimaro said coolly as their blades locked. "But you'll need more than speed to defeat me."
"Don't worry," Sasuke retorted, his Sharingan spinning. "I have plenty more."
Kimimaro's attacks were relentless, his bone weapons unyielding. Sasuke, however, matched him blow for blow, his Sharingan predicting and countering each move. They were equals in skill, each strike a testament to their deadly prowess.
Kimimaro's calm, almost serene demeanor contrasted sharply with Sasuke's fierce determination.
"You're good," Sasuke admitted, breathing a bit. "But not good enough to beat me."
"We'll see," Kimimaro replied, his eyes narrowing. "This fight is far from over."
Nearby, Hinata faced Jugo, the towering brute of Otogakure. His raw strength was immense, each punch shaking the ground. Hinata, however, moved with grace and precision, her Byakugan allowing her to see and avoid Jugo's attacks. Her Jyuken strikes targeted his chakra points, aiming to disrupt his monstrous power.
"Why do you fight, little girl?" Jugo growled, his eyes wild with rage.
"I fight to protect those I love," Hinata replied firmly, dodging another powerful strike. "And I won't let you harm them."
"You're brave," Jugo sneered, his body mutating further. "But bravery won't save you."
Jugo's rage was palpable, his body transforming and mutating with each passing second. He swung wildly, but Hinata's calm focus kept her a step ahead. She struck with pinpoint accuracy, each blow weakening his defenses.
But Jugo was not easily subdued; his resilience and fury made him a formidable opponent.
"You think you can stop me?" Jugo roared, his voice echoing. "I'll crush you!"
"Talk is meaningless," Hinata replied, her eyes steely. "Let's see if you can back it up."
Sakura and Shikamaru found themselves facing Suigetsu and Karin. Suigetsu, with his water-based abilities, was a slippery adversary, while Karin's sensory skills and chakra chains made her a dangerous foe.
"Keep him busy, Shikamaru!" Sakura shouted, her fists glowing with chakra.
"On it," Shikamaru responded, his shadows snaking towards Suigetsu. "Let's see how you handle this!"
Shikamaru's Kagemane jutsu danced across the battlefield, capturing and immobilizing his enemies with precision. He coordinated with Sakura, creating openings for her devastating punches.
Suigetsu's liquid form made him difficult to pin down, but Sakura's relentless attacks forced him on the defensive.
"You're persistent," Suigetsu grinned, his body reforming. "But you can't hit what you can't catch."
"I don't need to catch you," Sakura retorted, slamming her fist into the ground. "I just need to make you stay still."
Karin, meanwhile, moved with cunning and speed, her chains lashing out at Shikamaru. He dodged and countered with shadows, the two engaged in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
"You think you can outsmart me?" Karin taunted, her chains whirling. "You're out of your league, boy."
"Maybe," Shikamaru replied coolly, "but I've always liked a challenge."
Sakura and Shikamaru's teamwork was impeccable, but Karin's cunning and Suigetsu's resilience kept the fight balanced.
"We need to finish this," Sakura said, her voice also darkened. "We can't let them win."
"Agreed," Shikamaru nodded, his shadows converging on Karin. "Let's end this."
"GRAAAAAAAAAH!"
The tide of battle shifted dramatically when Kimimaro and Jugo activated their cursed seals. Their bodies transformed, power surging through them, and their already formidable abilities became overwhelming. Kimimaro's bones grew denser and sharper, his speed and strength magnified. Jugo's mutations became more pronounced, his power reaching monstrous levels.
"Feel the power of the cursed seal!" Kimimaro declared, his voice resonating with newfound strength.
Sasuke and Hinata were caught off guard by the sudden surge of power. Kimimaro's bone weapons became even more deadly, and Jugo's strength increased to terrifying heights.
The battle that had been evenly matched now tilted in favor of Otogakure.
"You're stronger than I expected," Sasuke admitted, panting slightly. "But I'm not done yet."
"You will be," Kimimaro replied, his eyes cold. "Soon."
Kimimaro's strikes came faster and harder, forcing Sasuke to push his Sharingan to its limits. He countered with Chidori, the crackling lightning adding a deadly edge to his attacks. The ground shattered beneath them, each clash a testament to their immense power.
"You're pretty strong," Sasuke admitted, still confident. "Maybe if this was a month ago you'd be really tough, but now? Not so much."
"We'll see," Kimimaro replied, his eyes narrowing. "This fight is far from over."
Hinata, faced with Jugo's monstrous form, redoubled her efforts. Her Gentle Fist strikes were precise and powerful, but Jugo's sheer resilience made him a relentless foe.
Despite the odds, she fought with unwavering determination.
"I won't give up," she whispered to herself. "I can't afford to."
The battlefield was a chaotic blend of combatants, clones, and machines. Naruto's clones continued to hold the line, their numbers slowly whittling down the enemy forces.
The real Naruto fought with unparalleled determination, his eyes always on the horizon, searching for any sign of Orochimaru.
"We need to keep pushing," Naruto urged, rallying his clones. "We can't let them overwhelm us!"
Sakura and Shikamaru, facing the enhanced Suigetsu and Karin, found themselves in a grueling struggle. Suigetsu's water form and Karin's chains created a deadly combination, but Shikamaru's strategies and Sakura's strength kept them in the fight.
They adapted and countered, each move a testament to their unbreakable will.
"Stay strong Shikamaru!" Sakura called out, landing a powerful blow on Suigetsu, who was still unaffected. "We can do this!"
"We will do this," Shikamaru replied, his shadows binding Karin momentarily. "Damnit this is personal!"
The true battle began as the stakes became higher, the clashes more intense. The fate of their lives hung in the balance, and every shinobi on the battlefield knew that their actions would determine the outcome of this titanic struggle.
The air was thick with tension, the sounds of battle echoing like a symphony of destruction.
The clash of titans had begun, and only the strongest would emerge victorious.
After a few minutes of what seemed like aimless travel through the dense, foreboding forest surrounding Otogakure, Goku suggested they pause to properly analyze where they were going. The towering trees cast long shadows that danced menacingly in the breeze, and the oppressive silence only added to the tension.
"Kiba," Goku began, his voice calm yet serious, "we need to stop for a moment. I need a better sense of where Orochimaru might be."
Kiba, ever the pragmatic one, agreed with a nod. "You're right. Running headfirst into a trap won't help anyone." He signaled Akamaru to stay alert.
Staying on foot, Goku closed his eyes and gathered his senses, trying to feel out for an astoundingly powerful ki. He stood still, his breathing even as he extended his energy in search of Orochimaru. But to his surprise, he couldn't sense him.
The realization unsettled him, and a frown present on his face.
"Why can't I sense him?" Goku murmured, scanning the horizon as if expecting the villain to appear out of thin air.
Kiba's attention was drawn to Akamaru, who had begun to whimper softly. The dog's ears were pinned back, his body tense. Kiba patted his loyal companion on the back, his own face growing serious. "What's wrong boy?"
Goku opened his eyes and looked at Kiba. "What does that mean?"
Kiba's expression turned grave. "It usually spells trouble. Akamaru has a knack for sensing danger."
Right on cue, his senses sounded off in a frenzy.
Orochimaru was near, and he was much stronger than when Goku had sensed him during the invasion.
The boy's heart pounded with a mix of anticipation and excitement.
"Orochimaru's close," Goku said, eyes gleaming. "Finally."
Akamaru and Kiba began to smell the killer intent in the air. The oppressive atmosphere felt like a storm about to break. The tension was almost tangible, making the hair on the back of Kiba's neck stand on end.
"He's here," Kiba whispered, his grip tightening on a kunai. His knuckles turned white with the force of his hold.
Suddenly, Orochimaru emerged from the shadows, his serpentine smile widening with malice. His eyes glinted with a predatory gleam, and his presence alone seemed to darken the surrounding forest.
BZZZT!
Without warning, he shot a blast at Kiba, intending to eliminate any distractions.
Goku reacted instantly, moving in front of the blast and deflecting it into the distance with a swift motion.
KABOOOOOOOOM!
The deflected attack blew up the top half of a distant mountain, causing a massive explosion that echoed through the forest.
Seeing this, Akamaru began to flee back to where the others were, barking frantically.
Kiba called out for him, his voice strained with concern. "Akamaru, wait!"
"Go back and tell the others," Goku cut in, his voice calm but commanding. His eyes never left Orochimaru, who stood watching with a mixture of amusement and annoyance.
Kiba nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation.
He placed a hand on Goku's shoulder briefly. "Be careful Goku. He's probably even stronger than before. I can smell it on him. We'll be back in short order."
Goku smiled despite it, confusing Kiba a bit. "I know, I'll be fine. Take care of the others for me till I wrap this up."
The two fist bumped, and Kiba fled.
As the duo retreated, the stage for their rematch was set.
Kukukuku.
Orochimaru's cackle echoed through the forest, a chilling sound that seemed to make the very air tremble. His ego had inflated along with his power.
"I'm well aware that you've grown stronger since we last met, Goku," Orochimaru said, his voice a sinister purr. "But it won't save you."
Instead of seeing the visceral reaction of fear or trembling from Goku that he had come accustomed to seeing in his enemies, Goku smiled. The yearning for battle coursed through his veins, and he finally got the opportunity to cut loose. The boy's cheerfulness in the face of such danger was unnerving, even for someone like Orochimaru.
"You think you're strong now, Orochimaru? I can't wait to see just how strong you've become," Goku said, his excitement barely contained. The prospect of a worthy challenge seemed to invigorate him.
"You fool. I've surpassed your wildest dreams. Prepare to die," Orochimaru hissed, but a small part of him felt uneasy.
Goku's cheerfulness and confidence were unlike any opponent he had faced. It was both intriguing and disconcerting.
"Let's see if your strength matches your arrogance," Orochimaru said, his eyes narrowing.
He coiled his body like a snake, ready to strike.
Goku slipped into his infamous Kame style Taijutsu stance, his body relaxed yet poised for action. Orochimaru adopted a stance of his own, a small part of him wanting to honor the opponent who had inadvertently allowed him to become this strong.
Or maybe it was the Goku cells within him compelling him to fight more as a warrior than a shinobi... who knew?
The tension was palpable. Each warrior could feel the other's power, the anticipation of the clash electrifying the air around them.
The forest seemed to hold its breath, the wind stilling as if in anticipation of the coming storm.
"Are you ready?" Goku asked, his voice steady and calm, a stark contrast to the dire situation.
Orochimaru smirked, his eyes flashing with dark intent. "More than you'll ever know."
THOOOOOOM!
With a war cry, both opponents shot toward each other, their collision shaking the Earth for miles around. The ground trembled under the force of their impact, and the skies seemed to darken with the intensity of their clash. Trees were uprooted, and the ground cracked beneath their feet.
Kiba and Akamaru sprinted through the dense forest, their footsteps barely making a sound on the soft, moss-covered ground. The urgency of their mission fueled their speed, the need to inform the others about Goku's encounter with Orochimaru pressing heavily on their minds. The atmosphere was thick with tension, every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig setting their nerves on edge.
Kiba's heart pounded in his chest, both from the exertion and the adrenaline coursing through his veins. He glanced down at Akamaru, who was running alongside him, his normally alert ears pinned back and his body tense.
The dog's whimpering had not ceased, and it filled Kiba with unease.
"Akamaru, what's wrong?" Kiba asked, his voice breathless as he pushed forward.
Before he could get an answer, a shockwave from the ongoing battle between Goku and Orochimaru rippled through the ground beneath them. The force of the tremor sent Kiba and Akamaru sprawling to the forest floor. For a moment, Kiba lay stunned, the impact knocking the wind out of him. He quickly pulled himself up, shaking off the dirt and debris.
"Come on, boy, we better keep moving," Kiba urged, reaching out to help Akamaru to his feet.
But to his surprise, Akamaru took off in a sprint, his whimpering replaced by a desperate urgency.
Kiba's eyes widened as he watched his loyal companion dash ahead at full speed.
"Akamaru, wait!" he called out, chasing after him. His mind raced with questions. What could have spooked Akamaru so badly?
As he ran, a strange scent caught his nose. It was familiar, yet different—tainted with a dark, unnatural undertone. Dread began to creep into Kiba's psyche, and he pushed himself to run faster.
Suddenly, his acute sense of hearing picked up the whine of an oncoming energy attack.
He twisted his body, narrowly avoiding the blast that scorched the ground where he had been moments before.
Panting due to anxiety, Kiba turned to face his attacker, dread filling him. He feared Orochimaru had already killed Goku and was now hunting him down.
But instead of the snake-like visage of Orochimaru, he saw Kabuto. The same Kabuto who had once helped him during the Chunin Exams invasion. Relief flooded him for a split second, only to be replaced by confusion and horror.
"Kabuto! What are you doing here?" Kiba asked, trying to keep his voice steady. He hoped, perhaps naively, that Kabuto was still an ally.
Kabuto stepped forward, a malicious grin spreading across his face. His eyes glinted with a predatory light, and the aura of killer intent he exuded made Kiba's blood run cold. "Kiba, it's been a while. You're looking well," he said, his voice dripping with false friendliness.
Kiba's muscles tensed, his mind racing to process the situation. "What's going on, Kabuto? Why are you attacking me?"
His wicked grin widened.
"Orochimaru-sama has grand plans, and unfortunately for you, you're in the way. But don't worry, I'll make this quick."
Akamaru growled, bearing his fangs at Kabuto, the loyal dog's stance defiant despite his fear. Drawing strength from Akamaru's bravery, Kiba steeled his nerves. This wasn't the time to let fear paralyze him. He had trained for this, for moments where he had to stand up against overwhelming odds.
Kiba clenched his fists, his resolve hardening. "I won't let you hurt my friends, Kabuto. If you want to get to them, you'll have to go through me first."
Kabuto's eyes narrowed, and he chuckled darkly. "Very well, if that's how you want it. Let's see if you've improved since the Chunin Exams."
The air between them crackled with tension. Kiba and Akamaru moved in unison, their bond evident in their synchronized movements. They charged at Kabuto, determination blazing in their eyes.
Kabuto met their charge with a swift counterattack, his movements almost too fast to follow. He struck out with a precise blow aimed at Kiba's midsection. The Inuzuka twisted at the last second, the blow grazing his side instead of landing a direct hit. The pain was sharp, but it fueled his resolve rather than diminishing it.
The genin retaliated with a flurry of punches and kicks, each strike aimed to push Kabuto back and create an opening. Akamaru circled around, looking for an opportunity to strike from behind. They moved with a fluidity born of countless hours of training, their actions seamless and coordinated.
Kabuto parried Kiba's blows with ease, a smirk playing on his lips. "Is this all you've got? I expected more from you, Kiba."
Gritting his teeth, Kiba pushed harder. "I'm just getting started!"
With a sharp whistle, Kiba signaled to Akamaru. The dog leapt into the air, transforming into a spinning vortex of fur and fangs. "Gatsuga!" they shouted in unison, the powerful technique aimed directly at Kabuto.
Kabuto's eyes widened slightly, but he remained composed. With a swift hand seal, he summoned a barrier of chakra, deflecting the attack and sending Kiba and Akamaru crashing to the ground.
They rolled to their feet, bruised but undeterred.
"I have to admit, you're persistent," Kabuto said, his voice cold. "But persistence alone won't save you."
Kiba wiped a trickle of blood from his lip, his eyes blazing with defiance. "Maybe not, but I won't give up. Not ever."
Kabuto's smile faltered for a moment, malice creeping back in. "We'll see about that."
The two clashed again, the forest around them bearing witness to their fierce battle. Trees splintered and the ground cracked beneath the force of their blows. Each strike, each counter, was a testament to their resolve and determination.
For Kiba, this was more than just a fight for survival. It was a test of his growth, the culmination of his training and his bond with Akamaru. He couldn't afford to lose, not here, not now.
He had to win.
As the battle raged on, Kiba found himself drawing on reserves of strength he didn't know he had. Every time he was knocked down, he got back up, his resolve becoming unbreakable. With each resurgence however, Kabuto's confidence never wavered.
He was playing with his food, even though this food wasn't incompetent or harmless.
In the back of his mind, Kiba knew that he had to hold out until the others arrived. He had to buy Goku enough time to defeat Orochimaru. The thought of his friends gave him the strength to keep fighting, to keep pushing forward.
This was it. This was the culmination of his training. And he would not falter.
Or so he hoped.
Goku moved with blinding speed, his fists a blur as he struck at Orochimaru. The snake-like shinobi countered with equal ferocity, his movements fluid and precise. The air around them crackled with energy as they exchanged blows, neither giving an inch.
Orochimaru's attacks were vicious and calculated, his serpentine form twisting and turning with lethal grace. He lashed out with a barrage of strikes, each one aimed to cripple and maim.
But Goku met each attack with equal force, his body moving instinctively to block and counter.
"You got so much better Orochimaru," Goku said, dodging a particularly vicious strike. "But so have I."
Orochimaru snarled, his frustration mounting. "You haven't seen anything yet, boy."
He unleashed a torrent of snake-like appendages, each one striking with deadly accuracy. Goku weaved through them, his movements a blur. "Kame Sandan!" He countered with a powerful yellow energy blast, which Orochimaru narrowly avoided.
The battle raged on, each clash of their powers sending shockwaves through the forest. The very ground seemed to groan under the strain of their fight, and the air was thick with the smell of ozone and earth.
Despite the dire situation, Goku remained calm. His focus was absolute, his mind clear. Every movement was precise, every attack calculated. He knew that this battle was not just about strength, but about skill and strategy.
Orochimaru, on the other hand, fought with a mix of rage and desperation. His frustration was evident in his wild attacks and the dark gleam in his eyes. He had not expected Goku to be this strong, this confident.
It was absolutely unnerving.
"You're a fool, Goku," Orochimaru spat, his voice dripping with venom. "You can't win."
Goku's smile never wavered. "We'll see about that."
PSSSSSSSHHH!
With a final, powerful clash, the ground beneath them erupted, sending debris flying in all directions. The force of their attacks created a crater, the edges smoldering from the intense heat of their energy.
The two titans were locked in a battle that would shake the very foundations of Otogakure and beyond. The forest around them bore the scars of their clash, and the air was thick with tension and anticipation.
The true test of their strength and resolve was just beginning.
Kiba and Akamaru fought with every ounce of strength they had. Each movement was a testament to their training and bond, but as the minutes turned into what felt like hours, their energy waned. Sweat dripped from Kiba's brow, his breath coming in ragged gasps. Akamaru, too, was beginning to slow down, his once fierce growls now replaced by heavy panting.
In stark contrast, Kabuto remained unfazed, his movements as precise and unyielding as they had been at the start of the battle. His conversion to an Android had granted him limitless stamina, and it was beginning to show.
There was no fatigue in his eyes, no strain in his movements. He was relentless.
Kiba's heart sank as reality began to set in. He realized, with a growing sense of dread, that unless a miracle happened or someone came to save him, he was going to die. The thought was chilling, but he couldn't afford to give in to despair.
He had to keep fighting, if not for himself, then for Akamaru and his friends.
"Akamaru," Kiba panted, his voice barely above a whisper, "we've got to give it one last hurrah."
With a determined nod, Akamaru barked in agreement. They gathered their remaining strength and launched into their signature move once more. "Gatsuga!" they shouted in unison, their bodies spinning into a powerful vortex aimed directly at Kabuto.
But Kabuto was ready. With effortless precision, he broke apart their attack, sending them crashing to the ground once more. Kiba struggled to his feet, his vision swimming.
He could see the smirk on Kabuto's face, a cruel expression that sent chills down his spine.
"You two have been quite the nuisance," Kabuto said, his voice laced with disdain. He coated his hands in teal chakra scalpels, the deadly energy humming with lethal intent. "But now it's time to end this."
Seeing the deadly energy on Kabuto's hands, Kiba knew they had only seconds to act. With a desperate burst of inspiration, he unleashed a series of smoke bombs, filling the area with a thick, choking fog.
The brief distraction gave him a moment to think, to make a decision he had hoped to avoid.
"Akamaru, listen to me," Kiba whispered urgently. "You need to go. Get back to the others and tell them what's happening."
Akamaru barked quietly in protest, his eyes wide with fear and loyalty. He didn't want to leave Kiba behind.
"I'll be right behind you, buddy," Kiba promised, forcing a smile despite the terror gripping his heart. "I just need to buy us a little more time. Go, now!"
Reluctantly, Akamaru turned and sprinted into the forest, his form quickly disappearing into the shadows. Kiba watched him go, a sense of relief mingled with the fear that this might be the last time he saw his loyal companion.
Seconds after Akamaru took off, Kiba felt a hand clamp around his throat. He was lifted into the air effortlessly, his feet dangling as he struggled for breath. Kabuto's cold, triumphant eyes met his, and Kiba knew there was nothing left he could do.
"You're not like the others," Kabuto hissed, his voice dripping with malice. "You're not Goku, you're not Naruto, you're not Sasuke. You're not even Hinata. You're weak."
The words cut deep, but Kiba couldn't deny their truth. He had felt overshadowed by his more powerful peers for a long time now. As he dangled there, he could only hope that his friends would succeed where he had failed.
In his final moments, his thoughts were of them, and of Akamaru.
"I'm sorry," Kiba whispered, his voice barely audible.
Kabuto's smirk widened with glee at his perceived superiority. He plunged his chakra scalpels into Kiba's torso, the green energy slicing through flesh and bone with horrifying ease. Kiba's body convulsed in pain, his vision blurring as darkness closed in.
As Kiba took his last breaths, he found a strange sense of peace. He had done everything he could. He had fought bravely.
Now, it was up to the others.
Kabuto withdrew his arm from the other side of his foes torso, letting Kiba's lifeless body drop to the ground like a sack of rocks. He looked down at his fallen foe, a sense of satisfaction washing over him.
The forest was silent once more, the only sound the distant rustling of leaves in the wind.
There was no commemoration for the dead, as only the winners got to write history.
And in this version of history, the Inuzuka died in a battle he was never supposed to fight. His original opponent would have been Sakon and Yukon in a mission to retrieve Uchiha Sasuke. However, due to tampering by the Omni-king Zeno and the Grand Priest in the annuls of time and space, he had to fight an android Kabuto instead.
The Son Goku effect.
