When Deadpool regained consciousness, he found himself in an unexpected location - a library nestled within the branches of a massive tree. Perched on a bed adorned with what looked like a Yeti's hide, he noticed Peter already indulging in some found liquor.
The interior was a fascinating jumble of items from different dimensions, with a solemn shrine paying tribute to fallen friends. Various makeshift chess games using unconventional pieces such as bottles and caps were set up around the space, adding to the eclectic atmosphere.
"You're awake?" Peter seemed disappointed. "Too bad... I was enjoying the silence."
"What the hell happened?" Wade asked.
"Don't know," Peter shrugged as he looked around. "This is some sort of library from what I can see."
"You are just full of helpful information," Wade scoffed.
The silence in the room was shattered by a sudden noise coming from the stairway, immediately capturing their attention. Wade swiftly rose to his feet and stealthily maneuvered through the maze of books lining the shelves, making his way to the foot of the stairway. With determination etched on his face, he unsheathed his sword, bracing himself to confront whoever dared to step through the doorway.
As he poised to strike, his intense gaze met the unexpected sight of a young girl, clad in striking red attire that accentuated her figure. Her hair was elegantly braided into a long ponytail that cascaded down her back. It was Ty Lee, from one of the many dead dimensions. She was the one who had thwarted Wade's attack by deftly seizing his sword and hurling him aside, eliciting a startled cry from him.
Ty Lee strolled into the room, and then Wade watched as several other figures followed behind her. The next girl has short auburn hair with white streaks as bangs in the front of her hair. She has grey eyes and a pale skin complexion, and she wears purplish-blackish makeup and lipstick. She wears a dark navy blue bodysuit. Gold platelets with the "X" logo are on both of her shoulders, while a green platelet goes around her bust area. A gold utility belt also marking the "X" logo goes around her waist, while small platelets protect her knees. Knee-high boots are worn for shoes, and thick brown gloves are worn on both hands.
Anna Maria "Rogue" of one of the many dead storylines strolled inside. Then came Barbara Gordon, aka Batgirl. She is a slender, fair-skinned, and beautiful young woman with red shoulder-length hair, captivating blue eyes, and red lips. She wears a grey bodysuit with a yellow bat chest emblem, blue gloves and boots with matching cowl and cape, and a yellow utility belt.
Then someone walked in while becoming visible revealing that it was Miles Morales who came from the same dimension that Barbra came from. His suit uses a red and black color scheme. It is predominantly black in color but utilizes red for its spider insignia across the chest alongside a V-shape stretching from the groin up to the shoulders. The outlines throughout the suit's torso and mask area are colored red against the black.
The finger joints where the web shooters are located are red while the palm of the hand is black. Elsewhere on the suit, the black coloring persists, transitioning to matt coloring on the legs and feet. There are also knee pads embedded into the suit for shock absorption. The only part of the suit that differs in this color scheme is the eye lenses, which are faded white. The web-shooter design and color for this suit are also drastically changed from the ones from Peter Parker's red and blue color theme.
Then came the last two that were walking down the hallway: Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy.
Ivy is a slender young woman with green skin, green eyes, and green lips. She has long red hair, styling part of her hair on the left side, almost covering her eye. Her outfit heavily favors green. Her look is a green jacket and a white tank top underneath it, with green tights/pantyhose with a pattern of leaves and lines on them, and black high heels.
Harley Quinn is a Caucasian young woman with bleached white skin and blue eyes. Harley has an athletic body type, coming from her past as an acrobat. She has long blonde hair, usually in a pigtail style, which is dyed at the ends in blue and pink shades.
Harley's regular outfit is a skintight short black and red strapped rubber/latex crop top with a star and a diamond on it, a black choker around her neck, black and red fingerless leather gloves, black and red skintight rubber/latex briefs, and black and red sneakers with pompoms as well as thigh high socks with the same color. Although the bottom of her sneakers usually appear in plain white, they also appear with the black and red footstep pattern on there and while one shoe has black with a red star, the other shoe has red with a black diamond.
As they eagerly waited, they witnessed the dramatic arrival of the final member, his silhouette standing out against the horizon as he confidently made his way towards them, the distinct outline of his fedora hat bringing an air of mystery and intrigue. Upon entering, his brown fedora stood proudly atop his head, exuding both elegance and practicality. He was clad in a weathered, brown leather jacket, enhancing his adventurous persona while providing essential protection during his daring escapades.
Dressed in a simple yet durable beige or khaki shirt paired with sturdy, dark brown or tan trousers, his attire showcased both functionality and style, perfect for his archaeological expeditions and thrilling adventures. A trusty brown leather satchel hung at his side, safeguarding the essential tools and precious artifacts he unearthed during his explorations. A defining accessory, the coiled bullwhip, was securely attached to his belt, serving as both a tool and a formidable weapon for a myriad of situations. Completing his ensemble were robust brown leather boots, well-suited for the rugged terrains he often ventured into.
Emphasizing his rugged and daring image, he donned a gun holster and confidently carried a revolver, further cementing his adventurous spirit. This unmistakable figure was none other than the legendary Indiana Jones.
"Wow, look at all of you," Wade commented on the variety of different stories and storylines that were never formed. "There were a lot of stories that were deleted than I thought." He commented as he looked to Peter who didn't have a care. "You must be the others. So, just so we can recap... you are...?"
"Ty Lee of the Fire Nation," Ty Lee introduced herself.
"Really?" Wade was surprised to hear. "Last I heard, the author hasn't seen past the first few episodes of the series." Then he looked over towards Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. "And you two, wasn't expecting to see you here. Yet again, your series did kinda fall off a strange end with even you falling off to the apocalyptic future."
Ivy looked confused as she looked at Peter. "Is he insane?"
"Oh, yeah." Peter chuckled as he chugged down a whole bottle.
"And we've got Batgirl and a Miles Morales," Wade commented. "That's an interesting one. How did you two end up here?"
"Long story short, we were a pruned future, according to what the TVA told us," Miles explained with a sigh.
"You know, you are the first Peter Parker we've had in our world," Barbra commented as she looked at Peter. "We've got a few Hobie Brown's, a few other Morales', and even a Miguel O'Hara, but never Peter Parker."
"Well, aren't I just the lucky one?" Peter asked as he tossed the empty bottle.
"And you," Wade looked to Indiana Jones as he walked over. "I wasn't expecting to see you. I thought you were... retired. Especially after your last crusade, plus two more."
"Does it look like I had much of a choice?" Indy said as he took a seat with a sigh.
"Well, you did when it came to that new movie," Wade stated.
"I don't like you," Indy tells him.
"I am not surprised," Wade commented as he looked at Rogue. "And you? I thought X-Men were making a comeback recently. Why are you here?"
"I came from what I believe they called Earth Prime, sugah," Rogue explained as she walked around, raising her knee to fix her boots. "My life was written out, almost like I never existed."
"Earth Prime?" Wade asked in surprise. "Oh, wow, so we came from the same world."
"Yep," Rogue confirmed.
"So, is this all of you?" Wade wonders.
"Not all of us, sugah, there is one more member," Rogue confessed.
"Wait, is it Wanda?" Wade asked in glee. "Dear god, please let it be Wanda, because with the Scarlet Witch-"
"She's dead," Miles informed him.
"FUCK!" Wade cried in anger. "This is all we were left with?! This is like doing a dumb crossover with all of the weakest players!"
"Hey." Ivy scoffed.
"So, who is it?" Wade wonders. "Who is this person that you are keeping in the dark? Who brought us here?"
"That would be me." They heard a female say from the other stairway leading upwards. They watched as the short brunette-haired woman from before revealed herself. "Hi."
"And you are...?" Wade was curious about who she was.
"My name is Teresa Fitzpatrick." She introduced herself to the two new members. "But lately, I learned it's actually Teresa Parker. I'm from Earth Prime, and the sister of Spider-Man."
Wade was shocked to hear that as he looked over to Peter who didn't seem to care. "Wait, you're-you're also from Earth Prime?" He then got a nod as Teresa walked around. "Well, then this is perfect. I mean, with all of us, we could actually get out of here."
"You want to escape?" Indy wonders. "I can't tell if you are brave or crazy."
That was when Peter began to gargle on some of the liquor and spat it into the air where he caught it with his mouth and swallowed.
"My money is on nuts," Barbra commented.
"You want to go into the Goblin Lair?" Teresa asked with a laugh. "No, anyone who has ever done that so far has only come up dead or one of Goblin's sick perverted slaves."
"We have lost so many people trying to get in and out of that facility," Ty Lee said, looking over to the shrine.
"Punisher. Daredevil. Aang. The Atlantian army." Indy said as he revealed he had a crystal around his neck from the Atlantis people.
"Catwoman. Golden Glider." Rogue listed a few short names in the vastness. "The only reason we are still thriving is because we got the Green Girl on our side." She said referring to Ivy. "That's why we've been hiding out in the forest area."
"Anytime any of Goblin's minions get close, I can use my powers and hear it through the literal grapevine, and we hide," Ivy explained.
"We've also been missing another member of our group, Kite-Man," Barbra tells them. "He went missing a few days ago, saying he knew if he got close enough he could break Golden Glider out of her trance."
"Oh, I am so sorry," Wade said, trying to cover up his involvement. "Whoever this Kite-Man is, I am sure he is at peace."
Peter chuckled when he heard that. "Oh, yeah, right. He is at pieces alright."
"Would you..." Wade looked back to him and shushed. "Look, you couldn't save your worlds, but you can help me save mine and avenge the worlds you lost. Now, me and him, we have been to the fortress and escaped."
"What?" That sparked some interest in the resistance.
"You have been and escaped?" Teresa wanted to hear again.
"Yeah, it was super easy, too," Wade stated. "I mean, what, did Aang leave his giant floating sloth at home? How could he escape the Fire Nation, but these wannabes?"
"Norman broke his neck," Ty Lee informed him.
"Ooh," Wade said in disgust. "Well, back to my point, you can help us save our world. It's what Chuck would have wanted."
"Wait." Ivy recognized the name. "You knew Kite-Man?"
"Oh, yeah," Peter called as he grabbed another bottle. "The clown dressed as a sex toy talked him into a team-up. And old Chuck came up with the cases of death."
"We don't know that!" Wade cried as he turned back to the angry members of the resistance. "He may have survived."
"If he survived that, then he is praying for death!" Peter stated with a laugh.
"Thank you, Dr. Spider-Man!" Wade cried in anger.
"What did you do to Chuck?" Ty Lee asked, standing up and getting ready to strike. "Talk, or I start Bending."
"Okay, okay," Wade tried to calm things down. "Chuck went off and started to bad mouth the Goblin King." He twisted the truth a little. "Then the Green Guy zapped him with his Palpatine finger. He was like a brother to me." He tried to act sympathetic. "Look he died, but we can still fight back and avenge him. Now, I know Wanda is dead, but I am sure there are a few artifacts around here that can help us stop the Goblin King. How about the Goblin Gas? That stuff can be retrofitted using some science mumbo jumbo to create an anti-"
"Cyborg tried that, Goblin got wind of it, and killed him," Indy informed him.
"FUCK!" Wade cried in anger.
"After which, he altered the formula," Barbra commented.
"FUUUUCK!" Wade screamed as he raised his fists to the ceiling.
"That guy doesn't mess around," Ivy commented.
"He is a careful one," Rogue commented. "He could find a whisper in a whirlwind."
"Okay, seriously, girl, do we need to add in the metaphors?" Wade asks her, getting a little frustrated. "Because to me, you are sounding like that Sammy girl from Camp Cretatious! And I have a feeling that nobody here is gonna get that reference!"
"What's Camp Cretaceous?" Miles wonders.
"EXACTLY!" Wade cried in anger.
"Goblin knew we were getting close to a serum, that was when he started to double down on hunting us," Teresa explains. "The only thing that we can do is find a way to dampen or even take away his powers."
"But we have been searching everywhere," Indy said, looking over to a map with a bunch of crossed-off locations. "There isn't anything out there that could get close to Goblin."
"The only thing that we know could work is Wonder Woman's Lasso," Teresa said with a groan. "Before I was pruned, I worked for ARGUS, and looking into some files that led me to learn my mom was Mary Fitzpatrick, I saw one that said her lasso is capable of depowering gods."
"Wonder Woman's lasso." Wade nodded. "And where would we find that?"
"Goblin keeps all of his personal trophies in the skull," Indy informed him. "Me and Selena Kyle went on a trip down there, she told us that before she was corrupted."
"When she was caught, we left as far from the outlands as we could," Barbra explained why they ran. "And she told us he was creating a portal of sorts."
"Seems old Gobby wants to fly the coop before Eliminator decides to stab him in the back," Rogue stated. "But the guy still needs a power source."
"So, Goblin has a way out, and the only thing that can stop him at the same place." Wade recapped. "This is perfect!" He said to the team. "We can go to the fortress, bash our way through, get the Lasso, depower Goblin, and use his portal to escape!"
Teresa started to wonder if a plan as bold as that could even work. "You know, they might be onto something." She said to the resistance. "Like... it is a bold plan, but what else do we have left?"
"You want to go for a frontal assault?" Barbra asks. "That never ends well."
"We have the equipment from our fallen friends," Teresa said, looking to the wall of weapons. "We have their car I can fix up, and the jetpack. I mean, we lost our worlds, we were taken from them, or they were ripped from us. This is our chance to stick it to the people who sent us here. To let our worlds know that we were here."
"A legacy worth leaving behind," Indy was feeling her.
"Yes!" Wade cheered. "Let this girl cook!" He said with glee. "This is what I am talking about, big over-described action sequences. Who knows if you live or die? Ty Lee?"
"I like his energy!" Ty Lee cheered.
"Rogue?" Wade looked at her.
"I may not have known my pa', but I know I shot out of his dick ready," Rogue stated.
Wade was surprised to hear that. "Jesus, that is graphic."
"Yeah, he was laying up on my mama with those nuts and I shot out with a 'howdy'." Rogue proclaimed.
Wade laughed when he heard that. "Oh, yeah, the readers are gonna love you." He then looked towards Indy. "Harrison Ford!"
"I have been stuck here for ages," Indy stated as he stood up and grabbed his whip. "Either I end this on top, or I go down swinging. If this is my last crusade, then it is going to be glorious!"
"Anything is better than Dial of Destiny, not a high bar to cross, but yes!" Wade cheered.
Teresa saw that they were all prepared and willing to go. "Alright, then. Let's fucking go."
"Let's fucking go!" Wade cheered.
"You're all fucking dead," Peter called, getting them to be taken down.
"Jesus Christ!" Wade cried in anger. "Read the room!"
Under the starry night sky, Peter sat huddled by the crackling campfire just outside the majestic tree library. Meanwhile, his companions were busily preparing for their imminent assault on the formidable fortress of the Goblin King. Their objective was to secure the prized Lasso of Truth from the Goblin's heavily guarded trophy room, and meticulous planning was essential.
Amidst the strategizing, they also grappled with the pressing need to identify a suitable power source to activate the portal for their escape. In the midst of this intense brainstorming, Rogue emerged from the fortress and made her way toward where Peter sat, enveloped in his solitary contemplation.
"Look I don't want-" Peter was trying to stop her when Rogue sat right alongside him. "Oh, okay."
"You remind me of him," Rogue admitted. "My Peter Parker I knew. Alone. Afraid of letting others in. Especially when he met me. Wondering if he was doing right with the world."
"Sounds like a great guy, but last I check, I am not any of those things," Peter informed her.
"Not with your actions, no," Rogue confirmed as she looked at him. "But your eyes...they tell me you are still a hero. I mean, you arrived when we needed a hero most out here."
"Trust me, Rogue. I am nothing like your friend." Peter broke to her.
"That outfit you wearin' sure says different, sugah," Rogue commented, showing he was still wearing his Spider-Man suit.
Peter looked down at the suit and sighed. "Yeah, well... I didn't have much of a choice," he said, seeing Rogue was waiting to hear what happened. "My aunt made it. I created my original design, but then my Aunt discovered who I was, and made me a better-looking suit. She was always a better sewer. I fought against the Legion of Doom. Teamed up with the Justice Society. Even met you and the X-Men." He said to Rogue with a smile. "I helped Koriand'r train the Titans... but I never joined them. Told them I was a freelance hero. Never settled on one group. I made friends with all of them. Then one day, an alert came in. It was an all-hands-on-deck emergency." He then looked down at his hand and remembered that day. "I told myself that they didn't need me. I said that if I spent five more minutes in bed with my girlfriend the world wouldn't end."
Rogue watched as a few tears filled Peter's eyes as he remembered what happened. He reached up and whipped the tears away as he tried to tell the tale.
"Then a day or two later, Darkseid came." Peter could hear the echoes of the screams in his head. "And the heroes returned... only they came back as slaves to Darkseid." He recalled seeing the freaks that were once his friends come to destroy the earth. "Darkseid had turned them against our home. They came and I gathered everyone I could that didn't join them. The Defenders. A few remaining X-Men. But... it wasn't enough." He then looked down at his arm and remembered what happened. "I was wounded. Left for dead. But by some miracle, Cloak survived. He got me out of there just when a Paradoom ripped off my arm. But he didn't survive much long after." He then cracked up as he recalled what happened next. "But Darkseid was smart not to kill everyone. Some he knew if he killed would only make things worse for him. Jean Grey... he didn't kill her. She healed up and Darkseid chained her to his throne. Keeping her from releasing the power of the Phoenix Force on his army. I fought, and protected the few humans I could... but it wasn't enough. The remaining humans were the greedy kind. They survived and rummaged through surviving human camps and left them for dead. I couldn't protect them. I... I got so angry." He then watched as on memory his fist clenched at the reminder. "I went after them..."
Rogue seemed to guess what happened. "I think I know what happened-"
"No." Peter stopped her from interrupting. "I need...I need to say it. By the time I had finished with them, they weren't even recognizable as humans." He remembered everything as flashes of the incident came into his mind. "And now I am the only remaining hero. The last human on Earth. Because Darkseid drained Earth of its resources and left our world for dead. I was spending my last days thinking to myself, 'If I had gone with them... is it possible that I could have made a difference?' That is what makes me the worst Spider-Man." He confessed to Rogue. "Because when my world needed me most, I looked the other way. The one thing I swore I would never do..."
Rogue reached her hand over and made sure to keep her glove on as she reached over to hold his hand. "You're just one man." She tried to help him. "There is no way that you could have known."
"It doesn't help that I decided to ignore it," Peter stated.
Rogue sighed as she decided she could try and lighten the mood a little. "You know what I miss about my world?"
"Huh?" Peter asks.
"The food," Rogue admitted. "Ever since I was dropped here, I wanted to eat a New York-style hotdog. Not like I had much else to go home to."
"Not even parents?" Peter asks.
"Nah, dad never showed up and my ma' left me at an orphanage," Rogue admitted. "What do you miss?"
Peter sighed as he thought about it. "The community. My home. Everyone."
Rogue nodded. "Then why do you think carrying them around is a bad thing?"
Peter didn't seem to get what she was saying. "Huh?"
"We all have lost someone," Rogue explained. "We all made mistakes. We can't always go back and change what we have done. All we can do is keep moving, and hope that what caused us this pain makes us stronger." She then looked at the time. "We're heading for the fortress at daylight. We all want you to come with."
Rogue then got up as Peter sighed and watched as she left. "Whoever you think I am, I'm not that guy."
Rogue turned to face him and chuckled. "Sorry to tell you, sugah, but you were always the wrong guy." She then strolled off. "Until you aren't."
"Okay, so the tech to create a portal..." Teresa was trying to figure out how to power the device so they could escape. "It is going to take a lot of energy to create a portal to escape to our reality."
"And Norman is going to be trying everything that is out there," Indy commented. "So, we need a power source he wouldn't think to look for."
"So, that takes out Arc reactors, particle accelerators, that lighting dragon that we've seen flying around..." Miles commented.
Teresa responded as she looked over their options. "There has to be something..."
"Wait," Wade said, looking over toward Indiana Jones. "Whred you get that necklace?"
"This?" Indy asked, showing the crystal. "A gift from the Atlantians."
"You mean the same Atlantians from Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire movie?" Wade clarified.
"Disney made an Atlantis movie?" Miles asks.
"That crystal has the power to charge the portal," Wade stated. "I mean, come on, if any of you saw the movie, you'd know that those crystals contain energy. Surprised it didn't go out with the fall of Atlantis."
"It's been growing dull over time," Indy commented.
"Like your franchise?" Wade mocked.
"Well, we can make up for the missing energy using Miles," Barbra said, looking toward the kid in question. "If he can use his bio-energy and fuse it with the portal, then we could get out."
"I mean, it might drain a lot out of me to open the portal, but it is worth a shot." Miles shrugged. "I have just never tried it before."
"No time to try like the present," Harley said.
"That still leaves us with all of Goblin's hoard of monsters and the Goblin King himself," Ivy reminded them.
"Well, we can take care of the hoards," Teresa commented as she looked at Wade. "This is all on you and Peter. You need to get us home. We lost too many people, and even if it is only you two, you need to leave the moment you get the chance."
Wade nodded and saw everything that was at stake. "Those motherfuckers want to destroy my world. Goblin won't get out, and I will get there, and if anyone is left behind, I will come back."
"We'll hold you to that," Ty Lee said.
"Rest up," Teresa tells her crew. "Because tomorrow... we take back our lives."
