Guilty
Prologue
Perry's first sensation was extreme cold. His entire body felt as if it were wrapped in ice. His eyes felt as if they were glued shut. He tried to shake his head to clear the cobwebs but he quickly realized there were restraints on his arms, legs and one across his neck. He took several deep breaths to calm his racing heart.
Okay Mason. Stay calm and take stock of your situation.
Struggling to open his eyes, he blinked several times to clear his fuzzy vision. He looked around as much as the strap across his neck would allow. Wherever he was, the place was almost completely dark. A very thin sliver of light shone through a crack in either a door or window. The walls that he could see appeared smooth and solid.
Moving his hands and fingers he discovered the surface he was lying on was metal and…much to his consternation…he was naked…very naked.
Well, this can't be good. So how did you end up here? You can figure this out. Think Mason!
But before his foggy brain could process his thoughts, he heard the rattling of keys and brilliant light flooded the room. Closing his eyes, he feigned sleep.
"Ah, you don't have to pretend to be asleep. I have been watching you."
The chill in the voice was nothing compared to the new chill that ran through Perry now.
Opening his eyes, Perry looked towards the shadowed figure.
"Welcome to your death Mr. Mason."
