Hi Everyone, back with another chapter.
To answer your question FriendlyShadows. The continent sent to Remnant is all territory controlled by Pre-War America. This includes the territory the U.S. holds in our timeline (Mainland, Hawaii, Alaska), Canada, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and the numerous other Caribbean Islands not connected to the South American landmass.
Ozpin leaned back in his chair as he listened to the recording that had been making headway through the networks since the prior day.
"Citizens of Remnant, the NCR and her allies wish too hold a meeting with your leaders in thirteen days. Should you accept then follow the coordinates send with this transmission and arrive by the designated time."
That's what the broadcast said, that's what it had been saying every half hour. The only difference being that it had said fourteen days when it started broadcasting.
The situation had already changed greatly since the Flash. Panic and Theory took hold on what would be found in the New World. The Atlas Expeditionary Fleet had left days ago with little communications back.
Ahh, communications.
One thing that had changed far more drastically than he could have predicted.
All those "American" Satelites, a technological impossibility by Remnant Standards, had made the CCT somewhat Redundant. Sure Rem-net signal was much stronger around the CCTs, but now anywhere on Remnant had the support and connection to the Network itself. They couldn't control these Satelites, and there were far too many in working order for any chance of their network going down.
A Benefit, brought by the nature of such technology.
Alas, it still had a drawback.
A Weakness that plagued their own technology, their lacking cyber security. It became rather apparent, all their data and history stored on the net was free for prying eyes. Yet they could barely scrounge much of their's before being locked out by unknown factors.
Still, what this meeting will entail and how it will end may shape the very future of Remnant.
Nate sat at his desk as he turned off the terminal. He had spent the last several hours reading reports and managing supplies.
This had been his life for the past week, analyzing and organizing information on this world of Remnant on top of his normal day to day.
With every new piece of information obtained, every moment he read more. He was struck with a ceaseless nagging of a life he had once lived.
Memories of meeting the love of his life when both of them were college freshmen. Being drafted and shipped out to Alaska just after their marriage. Fighting through Anchorage, surviving through Anchorage, and finally returning home. Preparing for an easier stage of life as a member of the Cambridge police while doing his part to raise their son.
And how it had all been robbed from him with nuclear fire and a single bullet.
All this information, all the technology in Remnant. It was a key to giving that sense of peace too the people of the Wasteland.
Sure, Remnant clearly had it's problems. Ceaseless and Unyeilding hordes of supernatural monsters, racial tensions built upon years of hostility, bandits and raiders attacking the less defended villages all over the frontier.
But the standards of living, the peace and ease of life they've achieved despite all this.
It was enough to give him hope.
A hope that one day this Nation he now leads could live with such ease, such comforts, that almost all had forgotten.
Nate hadn't realized it, but he had run his hand over a small spot at his collar. With a heavy hand he pulled, letting a necklace made of two gold rings welded together free from the collar of his clothing. "Nora, if only you could see this." he muttered before steadying his breath. He remained still, ignoring the small tears that ran down his cheeks as he did so.
It was the sound of a call coming in on his terminal that stole away his attention. With care, Nate eased the necklace back into under his coat. Shifting around to stair down the caller ID.
It was Shaun.
Taking a moment to wipe his tears away from his face, Nate straightened his posture and started the call.
Mary almost had to bang her head against her desk as she let another folder fall to the floor.
For the past day she had been compiling and reviewing technology discovered on Remnant. There had been so many vehicles and devices to choose from, so many that she couldn't wait to take apart and study.
Until she came to a realization.
All their advanced technology was made with a shortcut.
How so, one may wonder, but it comes down to a simple fact.
Dust, and all it's supernatural capabilities nullified the need for certain technological development.
Their airships didn't need to be aerodynamic or balance their weight, all they needed was some gravity dust and the things would float easily.
No need to develop forcefields when Light and Earth Dust combined to create such a thing.
Why bother with penetration power when Dust let's your ammunition do anything?
It broke her heart, all this advanced technology, all of it nothing but shortcuts.
For God's sake, they didn't even had airplanes of any type, just floating craft of different sizes. They had boats, cars, motorcycles, and airships that put theirs to shame to extent, but not a single tank or airplane.
Sure, there was a science in Dust utilization, but the sheer dependance on Dust reminded her of Pre-War America's dependace on oil.
She wasn't even sure how legitimate their robotics might be, much less their other scientific fields.
All this supernatural nonsense had halfed their ability to develop technology. If it wasn't for the existence of Dust, Remnant may have been trapped in the Medieval Age.
With a few exceptions...
The Weapons utilized by their Huntsmen and Huntresses, the Defenders of Humanity, could all shift. Dust played only a small role in such things, rather it required small parts and skilled craftsmanship to arm each hunter with their weapons. Melee combat, ranged combat, all could be covered by such weapons.
It was quite amazing, albeit only a small drop in the lake.
Everything else, was just lacking.
President Redhawk sighed as the sound of gravel under his feet perforated through the night. Too his sides strode Veteran Rangers, in front of him was a lone Wasteland Doctor.
With calm steps they wandered the small graveyard infront of the Doctor's house before they came upon a grave with two bags of radaway tied too it.
The Doctor gave them a small glance before he nodded and pulled out a shovel. Two of the Rangers joined him, digging the caskter out of the earth.
With a loud heave the thick wooden casket was opened and a lone figure stepped out. At first their stance was unsteady, before their eyes took in their surroundings and their shoulders eased. The figure took off their hat (how it had remained on their head while they dwelled in the coffin remained a mystery) and looked at Redhawk with a rotten face.
The Ghoul stretched a moment before looking around him. "So... am I right to assume... that the NCR requires my services?" The Ghoul inquired.
"Yes... We need a bodyguard with talents rather uncommon." Redhawk stated.
"How about you give me a reason." The Ghoul threatened.
Redhawk showed no fear, even as the NCR Rangers kept their hands close to their guns. "Its two jobs, the latter of which should interest you immensely." Redhawk began. "Someone blew up part of the Boneyard, New Shady Sands to be precise. Now, thanks to a benefactor out East, we have the name and possible location of the culprit." Redhawk paused as he looked the Ghoul in the Eyes. "Mclaine, a member of Vault Tech." Redhawk stated, hiding his smirk as the Ghoul almost shot up.
"Now, tracking this individual down with the assistance of Moldover will be the second job." Redhawk stated calmly.
"Why the second?" The Ghoul inquired in an almost rushed tone.
"Take a look at the moon, let's just say we aren't on Earth anymore." Redhawk said bluntly.
The Ghoul looked up, his eyes widening as he saw the moon in pieces.
"We're on a new world, and about to meet it's inhabitants diplomatically." Redhawk paused as the Ghoul leaned back. "I need an extra bodyguard Cooper, one with skills rivaling the Rangers and the experience few can possess." Redhawk said.
"So, I help keep you safe, then you let me loose with your underlings to hunt Mclaine?" The Ghoul inquired.
"Yes, though I would prefer he be brought in alive to stand trial before he's executed." Redhawk said.
"Already going to kill him?" The Ghoul asked.
"He blew up one of our cities, no amount of jail time can be applied for such a crime." Redhawk bluntly stated. "Though we may leave the keys to his cell... lying around after his trial, with some spare caps of course." Redhawk rambled.
The Ghoul just nodded, putting his hat back on. One of the Rangers approached from the shadows, belts and guns held in their arms. The Ghoul took them with a nod, as Redhawk signaled for them to move out.
Their new killer at their side.
Adam kneeled in front of Sienna, surrounded by many other Faunus taking the same action. All of them had been called here for an important mission, one that could not be spoken of over communications.
It did give him time away from the flaming vixen and her two cronies.
Sienna raised her hand, allowing them all too stand. "Cell leaders, I have called you here today to begin planning a new operation." Sienna began. "You all remember the Flash of light in the sky, the sudden crashing of the CCT system. All of it was due to a new world." Sienna stated.
Sounds of shock and quiet arguing sifted through the room as Adam grit his teeth.
"This new world... has no Faunus." Sienna announced bluntly.
The shock and discourse grew, drastically taking over any other sound in the room.
"What I plan, is to conquer part of it. Claim it in the name of the Faunus and move our people from the rest of Remnant too our new kingdom." Sienna announced.
Adam stopped, now standing frozen as he realized what it could mean.
A Sanctuary, a new kingdom, one that could rival the greatest of Remnant in strength. One that would see the loyal brothers and sisters of the White Fang lead all Faunus too a Golden Era.
"First, we must know what the new continent has in store." Sienna stated.
"The broadcast assaulting all communications every half an hour has included Menagerie in their invitation, I wish to have our operatives acting as "guards" too the Bellahdonnas as they attend the meeting." Sienna said.
"We need information on the World itself, we can not afford to led this opportunity pass." Sienna said sternly.
All nodded as Sienna began listing the names of those who would be assigned to this mission.
Adam heard none of it, too enamored with a dream that now took root in his mind.
