Despite defeating Mistunari at his last stand, Kelly still wishes to ensue chaos in Japan. No sooner do the Hero Alliance defeat Mitsunari and bring Whisper back to their side that they learn of Kelly's next plan, to lay waste to Sawayama Castle by resurrecting the man who would no doubt be his ultimate weapon: Nobunaga Oda himself.
September 1600, Sawayama Castle, Omi Province…
"Let's hope were not too late. This Nobunaga fellow sounds dangerous, and Kelly shouldn't have him under his wing." William said.
"Dangerous? That's an understatement. Nobunaga is one of Japan's most infamous Rulers." Hope said. "He wasn't given the nickname Demon King of the 6th Heaven for any old reason."
"Him, Hideyoshi and Ieyasu formed that Sengoku trifecta. He was the strongest out of all of them. If he returns, it won't be good. Meaning we need to stop this now before it begins." Jexi said.
"I'd imagine Kelly's gonna need something big to bring Nobunaga back. Likely a huge ritual and a butt-ton of Amrita." Hope said.
"That big enough for him?" Catra asked as the group caught sight of Sawayama Castle.
"Oh yeah, that's definitely big enough." Mark said. "Come on, we have to get in there."
The group headed down to the castle as they came across corrupted yokai and some human soldiers.
"What's the play here, how do we stop Kelly from bringing back the big guy?" DW typed.
"Nobunaga's a big name for Kelly to resurrect. He wouldn't just have one ritual site to bring him back, it would take multiple." Hope said.
"He's right. A ritual like this would need several in order to revive and subjugate the target." Sheer said.
"So we just need to bust them up before they call the guy down. No problem." Eijiro said.
"Just need to fight our way through several Yo-kai and soldiers…nothing new for us." Kendo said.
And so, the group fought their way up the castle, battling yokai, corrupted Yo-kai, and soldiers as they went, smashing all the ritual sites they came across.
"Yes…we're doing it…right?" Jexi asked.
"Not quite. We still need to find Kelly. So long as he is around, he could easily start this all over." Sheer said.
"Let's see, if any of us were a scheming alchemist, where would we be right now?" Scorpia asked.
"Probably at the top of the castle." Catra said.
"Catra's got a point. That's likely where he is." Hope said.
"Be cautious…there's no way Kelly would just leave himself unprotected." Sunset said as they started going upward.
As the group got closer and closer to the top, they began to hear snippets of a conversation.
"Damn Mitsunari, that useless pawn! How could he lose?!"
"That's what you get for relying on a human…present company included."
"Hey, how squidding long is it gonna take to resurrect this guy anyway? The brats are closing in, I can feel it!"
"You cannot rush the process. With the Amrita we have, it will be at least a few hours."
"We don't have that kind of time! If we had more power, it would speed things up, right?"
"And just where are we gonna get more, huh? We've lost pretty much all the Yo-kai we caught. Enma and Orochi are the only ones left!"
"...Not necessarily. There is one more source we can draw from."
"Oh yeah? What's…wait…Kelly, what're you-?!"
As the group approached the door, a flash of red peered out from the cracks.
"Oh, that can't be good." Eddy said.
Sunset pushed the doors open, revealing a room bathed in red. At the far side of the room stood Kelly, standing in front of an open casket filled with Amrita, and the body of Oda Nobunaga. Around him, to the group's shock, were the leaders of the Yo-kai Alliance, trapped by alchemic symbols.
"He's trying to resurrect Nobunaga by sacrificing Dedtime, McKraken and The Ghoulfather!" Glimmer whispered to the others.
"Kelly, you ratbastard! You think you can get away with this?!" Ghoulfather bellowed.
"Oh please, like you weren't planning to dispose of me once I had outlived my use in your eyes." Kelly remarked. "You three thought yourselves above humans. It blinded you, made you easy to predict…and counter. I must thank Enma, though; the seal he used on himself gave me quite the inspiration."
"So what, you think you can conquer the Yo-kai Realm? Are you squidding serious?" McKracken asked. "A human ruling the Yo-kai Realm? That's-!"
"Did I ever say I wanted to rule the Yo-kai Realm?" Kelly interrupted. "No. I have no need to rule that place. All it is…is a wellspring of power to draw from."
"Wait…but that would destroy the Yo-kai Realm!" Dedtime said.
"That's the point. He never cared about the Yo-kai World or ruling it. He's likely been looking down on us from the start." Ghoulfather said.
"How correct you are, Ghoulfather." Kelly said. "With the power drawn from the Yo-kai World, crushing Spain will be all too easy. And then, England will have all its needs to spread its rule all across this world…and, God-willing, perhaps a few others as well."
"Are you kidding me?!" Mark exclaimed, causing Kelly to turn around. "All of this, all the people you hurt, you got killed…and it was all for English expansionism?!"
"They're here!" Dedtime said.
"I told you guys! I told you!" McKraken said.
"You again? I was so close!" Kelly growled.
"You…are….without a doubt…." Sunset said as she approached Kelly before surprisingly giving him a punch across the face. "The stupidest villain I've met so far!" she said.
"And we constantly deal with Flux, so when she says it like that, she means it." David said.
Knocking Kelly to the ground disrupted the ritual, freeing the Ghoulfather, Dame Dedtime and McKraken.
"You just don't see things the way I do. England is…" Kelly said before he started feeling the overwhelming anger coming from the three Yo-kai.
"So…we don't mean a thing to you, huh?" Ghoulfather asked.
"Well…looks like there's no reason to keep this guy in our alliance anymore." McKraken said.
"Yes. I've had it with foolish humans who try and think they're superior to us." Dame Dedtime said.
Growling, Kelly managed to get to his feet. "The pieces are already in place. I have no need to remain." he said as, stepping out from the side, a man in obsidian black samurai armor stepped out, side by side with a bear Guardian Spirit.
"Oh no, you are not pulling that teleporting trick aga-!" Mark said, before Kelly and the casket both vanished in a flash, rather than a swirl. "...Okay, different teleporting."
"That little coward. We gotta…" McKraken said as the Ghoulfather started walking away.
"You two can chase him to Azuchi Castle if you want. I'm going back to my original plan. Cause of that moron, our alliance is over." Ghoulfather said as he disappeared into the darkness.
"Fine. We can handle him on our own." Dame Dedtime said as she and McKraken also vanished.
"Well…was not expecting them to disband that fast. Guess Kelly messed up with that one." Hope said.
"We can settle our beef with them after we take care of this guy." Lloyd said as the Obsidian Samurai raised his weapon.
The Obsidian Samurai - Yasuke
Weaknesses: Water
Resistances: Lightning
(Cue: Mononofu II - Nioh)
The group engaged the Obsidian Samurai as he attacked with his blade.
"This guy… I think I know who he is!" Adora said. "He's one of Nobubaga's most faithful soldiers, Yasuke!"
"Yes, I can tell. It is definitely him." Nedris said.
"What the heck's he doing Kelly's dirty work for? Is he being mind controlled like Tadakatsu?" Makoto asked.
"Not likely since Kelly has Nobunaga's body." Ragna said.
"Well whatever the reason he's fighting us for, we gotta take him down." Hope said.
The group engaged Yasuke, but his attacks were fierce. He swung the large axe he was wielding arond like it was nothing, slamming it into the ground, and used his guardian spirit to give himself more resilience when they struck back.
"He's a tough one!" Glimmer said.
"He has to be, he's one of the toughest samurai in history, though not many records know about him." Adora said. "But even still, he's got his own weaknesses."
"Yeah, so what's his?" Lapis asked.
"Water, and lots of it." Entrapta said.
"Say no more." Lapis said as she conjured her large water fists. Ducking a swing from Yasuke, she socked him with a couple haymakers. Frosta joined in too with a couple of shots from her ice knuckles.
"I'll lend a hand." Jin said as he invoked Genbu, its power infusing with Yukianeisa. He then clashed his sword with Yasuke's axe. "Shatter!" he called, activating his Drive and blocking the next attack as Yasuke was frozen before he executed a battōjutsu through him as he was slashed through multiple times in rapid succession before Jin sheathed his blade, causing the ice to shatter.
Judgment: Snowstorm
Yasuke resisted as much damage as he could before going back on the attack. Willam caught him with his sword as he parried his attacks, coupling himself with Sunset, who attacked in every opening he gave with her Twin Brave Swords. After awhile, it was only a matter of time before Yasuke had enough and he kneeled on the ground, exhausted.
(end song)
As the heroes stood over him, Yasuke took off his helmet and mask, revealing his face and confirming his nationality.
"It was true." Adora breathed. "You're just like us. We're all foreigners ourselves, but you? Despite not being native to Japan, you served Nobunaga."
"I dreamt of becoming a samurai so that I could fight for Lord Nobunaga. Who do you all fight for? Those spirits?" Yasuke asked.
Out of all of them, it was William who spoke up. "We… We have met men who have struggled, fought, and died to create a world without war, where people and spirits can co-exist in harmony. We fight for them."
Yasuke smiled. "Lord Nobunaga told me that he would make me a true samurai some day, but he died before it could happen. It seems you all have achieved it on your own."
As he said that, Yasuke's bear spirit appeared before them.
I was brought to this country bondaged. Treated like property. But then my lord Nobunaga granted me the title of samurai. But I couldn't save him. Like the snake-man said, I believe only my lord could rule a world as crazy as this one. But… does he really want to be resurrected?
With that, the Atlas Bear appeared by the side of Haruto Akagi. Jiraiya Picaro appeared on the side opposite to the bear spirit, signaling the unity between Persona and Spirit.
Yasuke then collapsed to the ground on his back. The battle had took more out of him than he realized, as he was exhausted.
"Yasuke, could you tell us something? We've heard the stories about Nobunaga, how he was ruthless, and one of Japan's most dominating rulers. But we've never heard about him from the point of view of someone who served under him. What was he like to you?" Adora asked.
"He was an exceptional man….none can know his true feelings." Yasuke answered.
"As nice as this conversation is…where the heck are we supposed to go now?" ZS asked.
"Azuchi Castle. That's where the Ghoulfather said Kelly was headed.' Sunset said. "It was Nobunaga's old castle before it was destroyed. He has to be there…McKraken and Dame Dedtime are probably headed there too."
"Once we corner Kelly there, he'll have nowhere left to run." Hope said. "He's shown his cards. Only two more left to play: Nobunaga and Venoct."
"So we bust into Nobunaga's old crib, take out Kellys' former friends, duel the big man himself, then finally kick Kelly's ass and rescue Enma, Venoct and Saoirse." DW listed. "Did I miss anything?"
"Just the part that after all this stuff with Kelly is done, we still need to take care of the Ghoulfather." Jexi said.
"We'll hunt him down later. For now…it's time to put an end to Kelly once and for all." Mark stated.
