"Poor baby," Alicia soothes, running her finger gently over his temple. "Does this hurt as bad as it looks?"
"Yeah," he mumbles, leaning into her touch. The way his hair falls makes it easier to hide it from Andre, but there's some deep scrapes up his eyelid into his temple, and it feels raw and throbbing with each beat of his heart.
Alicia clucks gently and kisses him. "Anything I can do for you outside of the ice?" She adjusts an ice pack against his eye and waits for him to think it through.
"No," he mumbles. "I think I just want some sleep."
She nods. "Alright. Lay down, baby. I'll check on the kids and I'll be right back."
He sighs, and nods, settling down against the pillows and closing his eyes. He loves this life, and he knows all of its struggles and gifts, but it doesn't make random, nagging injuries like this any easier to live through. Especially when it's on such a delicate spot. The eyelid, who would've ever imagined out of all the places he could be injured, it'd be there?
Alicia returns shortly and cuddles up against him, taking the ice pack away and kissing his cheek. "Ooh, cold," she teases, nuzzling against him.
"Kids ok?" he murmurs, feeling himself starting to drift, lulled by her presence against his side.
"Yeah," she says softly. "Twins are out for the count, and Andre told me to tell you goodnight and he loves you before he conked out too."
Ricardo smiles a little. "We have good kids," he muses.
"We do," Alicia murmurs, running her fingers gently through his hair.
He sighs and sinks back into the pillows. "Love you," he says sleepily.
Alicia smiles down fondly at him and leans in, lightly kissing his nose. "Love you too," she says. "Good night."
"Night," he breathes out, body giving in to its need for sleep.
Alicia continues to run her fingers down his cheek and watches him sleep, a fond look on her face before she gets up and tosses the ice pack into the bathroom, noting to greet Ricardo in the morning with a new one because he's going to be sore when he wakes up. For now, though, she settles in to get some sleep herself, cuddling up close to him.
He rolls towards her and wraps an arm around her, his lips twitching up into a faint smile in his sleep. She smiles and tucks in closer, quickly falling asleep as well.
