That night, Albert showed his family his new Hogwarts uniform, which was just plain robe and a pointed black hat.
If you had to say anything, it would be that it looked ridiculous, especially that damn pointed black hat. He was sure that it would get a lot of attention if he wore it out, at least that's what Albert thought.
Nia was very pleased with her gift. She was wearing a cloak that was much too big for her and the pointed black hat on her head. She was posing in the living room, and Herb was taking a photo of the two of them.
Daisy sat on the sofa, quietly reading Albert's History of Magic. She wanted to know more about where her son was going.
"Mum, look, it's a live chocolate frog!" Nia opened the box containing the chocolate frog and saw the frog jump out. She couldn't help but giggle.
Herb, who had already had some experience, quickly reached out and caught the chocolate frog that had fallen on the table and handed it to Nia.
Then, Herb opened another box, which also contained a chocolate frog. He quickly grabbed the chocolate frog and handed it to Daisy, who was carefully reading the book.
"Is this thing really edible?" Daisy raised her eyebrows and looked at the chocolate frog in front of her, which looked like a living creature, doubting whether it was safe to eat.
"Mom, chocolate frogs are edible and taste great!" Nia had already bitten off the head of the chocolate frog and was enjoying it, smearing some melted chocolate on her face.
"Okay, wipe your face clean, you look like a little stray cat!" Albert handed Nia his handkerchief, turned his head to look at Tom, who was facing off with the owl, picked him up and placed him on the sofa, and then scratched his chin and said, "Tom, don't bully it."
Albert took the owl nuts out of the package and poured some onto the plate in the cage. He muttered, "What should I call it?"
"Jerry." Albert thought for a moment and named the snowy owl Jerry.
Tom and Jerry.
Although there is no cartoon about cats and mice in this world, Albert thought the name was quite funny.
The snowy owl seemed to sense the ill will of its master and did not respond to Jerry.
"Albert, you picked a terrible name!" Nia reached out and picked up the owl, rubbing its face and saying, "It should be called Sheila. That's a good name."
"Why don't we call her Sheila?" Said Albert with a wry smile.
"Albert, the people in the photo have suddenly disappeared!" Herb was surprised to find that the people in the picture of the chocolate frog had disappeared.
"A photo?" Albert looked at his father, who was holding a picture of the chocolate frog.
"Maybe the Wizard's picture is supposed to move? If the chocolate frog can move, why can't the people in the picture move?"
"That's true!" Herb nodded in agreement. He turned the picture over and read the text on the back:
"Albus Dumbledore... current Headmaster of Hogwarts, recognised as the greatest wizard of his generation."
"Oh, that's the old man who sent Albert the letter." Daisy took the chocolate frog picture from her husband and wanted to see who had sent her son the invitation.
Unfortunately, the picture was empty.
Daisy turned the picture of the chocolate frog over and continued reading the rest of the text.
"Dumbledore's well-known contributions include: defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, discovering 12 uses for dragon's blood, and achieving great results in Alchemy with his partner Nicolas Flamel. Professor Dumbledore is fond of chamber music and ten-pin bowling."
"Dragon blood?" Daisy's eyes widened in disbelief. "Are there really dragons in the world? And Nicolas Flamel, I remember him…"
"A famous Alchemist in the 14th century." Albert added: "He created the legendary Philosopher's Stone, which is said to turn stone into gold and make people immortal. If he's still alive, it means the Philosopher's Stone has made Nicolas Flamel immortal."
"Come on, Daisy, cheer up." Herb reached out and gently hugged his wife, "The situation is not as dreadful as you think. Especially when we don't know much about the magical world, it's best not to make rash judgments. Besides, you should trust our son. He's a genius, and wherever he goes, he'll be able to make the most of his talents."
"By the way, Albert, can you use magic?" Nia jumped onto Albert, grabbed his hand and shook it playfully. Her face was full of expectation as she looked at Albert. "I want to see you do magic."
"Well... I'll have to study it first. I can't use it yet." Albert reached out and ruffled Nia's hair.
"That's annoying." Nia covered her head and ran to Daisy's side to share the pumpkin pasties with her.
Albert began to flip through Miranda Gossack's «Standard Spells - Elementaries», then took out his wand from the box and prepared to cast his first spell.
"No, Albert, not here!" Herb's face twitched, and he thought of what had happened in the wand shop.
"You should have a little more faith in your son!" Albert raised his wand and tapped it lightly, whispering the spell: "Lumos."
The tip of the wand flashed briefly, then went out again.
"Just now, the tip of the wand flashed, right?" Daisy said, not certain.
"Yes, it did. That's my son for you!" Herb was so proud of Albert that he could use magic right away that he couldn't hide it.
"Albert, what was that?" Nia asked excitedly.
"Well, it's an illumination charm. It should be a fairly easy spell to master. I'll have a go at it." Albert secretly checked his panel and found that the illumination charm had indeed been added to the list of skills.
The spell was still at Level 0, but he had already gained 7 experience points.
Only when it reaches level 1 can it be considered truly learned. It only takes 100 experience points to go from level 0 to level 1, but Albert has no intention of using his precious experience points to raise the illumination charm to level 1. Even 100 experience points are quite valuable.
"I'll try again." Albert cleared his throat and recited the spell again. The wand's tip once again emitted a faint glow.
Albert tried five times before he finally got the hang of it. With a little concentration, the light on the wand would not disappear so easily.
Seeing this, the other three couldn't help but clap their hands. Although it was just a simple illumination charm, it was quite remarkable in the eyes of the Anderson family.
"Albert, Albert, let me try. I want to try it too." Nia excitedly threw herself at her elder brother.
"No." Albert quickly put away his wand. "You can't play with it here. The last time I tried a wand, I almost blew up the counter at the wand shop."
"Meany."
"It's not a question of being mean. Wands are dangerous, and I don't know anything about them. What if something goes wrong?" Albert immediately put on a stern face and pulled out his trump card, "If Nia is so naughty, I won't show you any more magic in the future"
"Albert is right," Herb quickly said, "You should wait until he is familiar with magic before he shows you anything."
"Okay!" Nia pouted in dissatisfaction, but she still gave in. She looked a little disappointed, though. She envied Albert for being able to use magic.
"Your grandfather is due to arrive in the next couple of days. But I think it would be a good idea if we saw them together, so we don't have to go twice."
Herb had brought some magical world sweets and gifts, knowing that his father probably wouldn't eat them, but he would be happy to receive them.
