Chapter Two: Everything is Going According to Plan... Or Not. Part One.

Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha!

A tall man with waist length silver hair and piercing golden eyes with cute little dog ears on top of his head stepped out of a long sleek black limo then straightened out his suit jacket before looking toward his right-hand man.

"Ugh, I hate wearing suits!" The silver haired man complained as he tugged on his suit jacket a few more times before giving up on the idea of feeling comfortable, it was just impossible, he was more of a sweats and a t-shirt kind of guy - however, he had an important business meeting with the chief of police and the mayor that required him wearing the stupid suit. He needed to look like he was well put together in order to keep both the men in his good graces so he could do his, er, more illegal side of business and have them not be up his ass. He needed to walk the walk, talk the talk and look the look. It was annoying but needed to be done.

"I feel you, Phantom." His right-hand man, Miroku - a man with short black hair that he kept in a little ponytail at the nape of his neck and deep brown eyes with two gold hoops pierced into his left ear and one gold hoop pierced into his right ear, said as he tugged his own suit jacket in discomfort. "You ready?"

"Let's get this over with." Phantom, aka; Inuyasha, said as he started walking toward the mayor's house before knocking on the door and waiting for someone to answer it.

A few minutes later, an older gentleman wearing a black suit answered the door. "Welcome to Mr. Watanabe's home. How may I help you?"

"We're here for a meeting that was set up between Mr. Watanabe and me." Inuyasha answered.

"And how may I announce you as we enter the room?" The butler asked.

"Phantom and Mr. Miroku." Inuyasha replied.

"Very well, follow me." The butler responded before turning around and walking down the hall with Inuyasha and Miroku following close behind him.

'Ugh, I hate these meetings.' Inuyasha grumbled in his mind as he followed after the butler. 'These spineless sorry excuses for public figures are supposed to be making this city better. They are supposed to be protecting this city from people like me, but I had these pathetic men eating out of the palm of my hand from the very beginning.' He thought with a sigh as they turned a corner to a different hallway. 'However, their less than stellar morals are exactly what I need to fly under their radar and free to do things how they need to be done.'

Making down to the end of the hall, the butler opened the large double doors before stepping inside the room. "Mr. Watanabe, Phantom and Mr. Miroku are here for their meeting."

"Thanks Fredrick, you are dismissed." Mr. Watanabe replied as he stood up to greet Inuyasha and Miroku.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen." Inuyasha said as he shook both their hands, with Miroku following behind, before sitting down in the chairs that were offered.

"Good afternoon, Phantom." The men said at the same time as they sat in their own seats.

"How's everything going?" Inuyasha asked.

"Good, good." The mayor answered receiving a nod of agreement from the chief of police. "Congratulations are in order, we heard about your upcoming wedding. Friday, isn't it?"

"Thank you." Inuyasha nodded. "And yes, Friday."

"Who's the lucky girl?" The chief of police asked with a half-smile.

"Eh, I've been having a little problem with one of my dealers with him not giving me the full payment that he should have gotten from selling, I think he's keeping a percentage for himself. Which I don't know why, I'm paying all my dealers more than fair, maybe he's getting greedy. I don't know, but I ran a predicament by him that I've had my sister on my back for years now wanting me to marry someone and he has offered his daughters hand to me as a means to pay me back what he owes me." Inuyasha explained. "Her name is Kikyo."

"Ah, are we invited?" The chief of police asked.

"But of course." Inuyasha responded with a nod. "Now, have you any projects that need my looking over or approval of funds?"

"Um," the mayor hummed as he looked through his notes that he had for the meeting. "We have requests for a new movie house and remodels be done to the bank downtown. The cost for new move house will be about three million dollars and the remodels for the bank will be eighty thousand dollars."

Of course, Inuyasha necessarily didn't have to help the town with their projects, but he liked to stay on friendly terms with both the citizens, the mayor and the chief of police - it made it easier for him to do his more illegal jobs and made it to where the chief of police turns a blind eye to what he was doing. "And how much would you need from me?"

"Let me see." The mayor murmured as he turned a few more pages. "It looks like we would need about one point five million from you, if you agree of course."

"Let me go over numbers and I'll let you know by Monday next week." Inuyasha said as he rubbed his chin in thought. "Now, have either of you need for a refill?" He asked with an eyebrow raised.

The mayor cleared his throat. "Yes, actually, I need one."

Inuyasha nodded as he rummaged through his bag for the mayor's drug of choice, cocaine as the man got the appropriate amount of money and handed it to Inuyasha.

As the mayor and Inuyasha exchanged money for the drugs, the chief of police raised a finger up indicating that he needed a refill as well.

Inuyasha nodded again as he went through his bag once more getting out the chief of police's regular, a quarter of weed. Handing it over to the chief of police and accepting the money, Inuyasha stood up with Miroku following suit - telling the mayor and chief of police that the meeting was officially over. With everyone standing up they all shook hands and bid everyone farewells before Inuyasha and Miroku left the building.

As Inuyasha and Miroku walked back to the limo, Inuyasha let out a sigh of relief as he loosened his tie. "Thank God that is over, I don't think I can take much more time in this Godawful thing!"

"Same." Miroku agreed as he loosened his own tie.

They both climbed into the limo and told the driver to take them to one of his many warehouses where he was currently holding one of his clients captive for trying to double cross him as well as trying to steal from him.

Walking into said warehouse, Inuyasha walked straight to the table that was stationed right in front of the double crosser and took out his gun. He slowly took it apart to clean it before putting it all back together all the while locked in a death glair with the client. He took great pleasure as the man started to shake and sweat started to pour down his face. He loved messing with his guns in front of whoever he was trying to intimidate, he loved watching them squirm and try to beg their way out of what they knew was coming.

"P-Phantom, come on man, look - I'm sorry, okay? I'm sorry, I-I won't do it again!" The man stuttered out and tried desperately to get loose from the bonds that held him fast to the chair he was sitting in when he heard the shooting mechanism click into place and the gun being pointed at him. "Please! Please! Phantom, I'm sorry, man! Please, let me go!"

"Hmm." Inuyasha hummed and seemed to be thinking about it as a way to give the man false hope, he loved mind-fucking the people that wronged him in anyway, he got great pleasure out of it. "No can do." He said as he pulled the trigger and fired a single shot into the man's head before walking out the building, as if he didn't just kill anyone.

As they were leaving the warehouse Sango was walking in, Sango was Inuyasha's stepsister - his parents had adopted her when he was five and Sango was four. They had gotten along very well right off the bat, so when Inuyasha's parents had turned their backs on him when he was just fifteen - Sango followed right behind him and supported him with wherever life led him. She did some of the dirty work, her hands weren't exactly clean from blood being spilt, but mostly she just cleaned up afterwards. She for sure didn't see her life going in this direction, however, she couldn't find it in herself to regret her decision and loved the way her life had turned out.

Later that night, Inuyasha and Miroku were found leaning against the counter and drinking a cold beer while waiting for Sango to get back home. They only had to wait about an hour longer until said woman walked through the door and went in the direction of the bathroom without saying a word, which was how it normally went, she didn't mind the sight of blood but didn't like it being on her skin, you never know what diseases people have, so she always tried to keep as much blood as possible off of her at all times.

After another hour, Sango walked into the kitchen still drying her hair with a towel and dressed in her comfy pajamas. "Ugh, that guy sure was a bleeder." She said as she bent down so that her hair flipped over giving her access to wrap the towel around her hair before flipping back up so the towel could stay on her head to further dry her hair.

Miroku walked over to stand in front of Sango and wrapped his arms around Sango's waist causing a smile to spread across her face.

"Mmm," Miroku hummed before giving her a small kiss on the lips, "Inuyasha shot him at a pretty close distance, so I'm not surprised that there was a lot of blood."

"Guess next time the fucker won't try to double cross me again." Inuyasha said as he took another swig of his beer before tossing the empty bottle into the trash can.

"Not that he has another choice to double cross again." Sango chuckled as she grabbed a beer of her own before taking a couple drinks from the bottle. "You made sure that he never has a chance to."

"Yeah, I did do that." Inuyasha chuckled before stretching and bidding the couple a goodnight before going to his room, taking a quick shower and plopping onto his bed, falling asleep right as his head hit the pillow.

*X*

Kagome cracked her blood-shot and sore eyes opened but quickly closed them due to the bright light of the sun shining through her window. She sighed as she sat up, rubbing her eyes then opened them once more - happy that they didn't burn that time but annoyed at the same moment because they were still irritated from crying all night last night as well as the night before. She sighed as she remembered what day it was, Friday, the day of her wedding. She reached over and grabbed her cheap flip phone, happy that she had enough for it and that she was able to keep her old phone number. She flipped it open to check the time, seeing that it was 9 AM, the wedding was scheduled for 5 PM she crawled out of bed before walking into her small bathroom to take a cold shower. After her shower she went into the kitchen in hopes that she could find something to eat. She dragged one of her kitchen chairs to a tall cabinet and was pleasantly surprised when she found a single package of Ramen Noodles in the back corner. With a smile she reached in a grabbed the package before checking the date on it and seeing it was still good, she let out a happy squeal and did a happy dance but quickly remembered that she had no electricity. She groaned but went about breaking her noodles in bite sized pieces before getting a small bowl down and putting water in it and poured the ramen seasoning into the water before mixing it up. She then began dipping her pieces of crunchy noodles into the broth that she had made before popping them in her mouth.

After she was done eating her crunchy noodles, she was about to go take another cold shower, she honestly was surprised that her water was even still on, so might as well take advantage of it before it does get shut off. However, she only made it halfway down the hall when she heard a knock on the door. Groaning and rolling her eyes she made her way to her front door before opening it and revealing her landlord standing there with a slight scowl on her face.

"Where's my money, Higurashi?" Mrs. Okana said grumpily.

"Hi to you too Mrs. Okana," Kagome said sarcastically, "look I know I told you that I'd have the money today but it's not going to be until later, at like eight tonight." Kagome said hoping that she would let her slide till then.

Mrs. Okana sighed. "If you don't have it by then, then you will be evicted, you got that?"

"Loud and clear." Kagome said watching as Mrs. Okana turned and walked away. She let out a sigh as she turned around and went back to starting up her cold shower.

After her second shower that morning she got dressed and left her apartment to go see her favorite little man before the wedding.

Arriving at the hospital she went straight to his room and saw Hiro resting on the bed with his eyes closed. "Hiro, are you awake?" She whispered as she came to sit on the chair by his bed. She waited a few seconds but when he didn't open his eyes she sighed and settled down to wait in hopes that he'd wake up before she would have to leave to get ready for her wedding.

As she sat there, reading a children's book out loud for Hiro to listen to while he rested, Dr. Hojo walked in looking over some charts. "Oh, Hi Kagome. Um, can we talk in the hall?"

"Oh, sure." Kagome said as she stood up the feeling of dread crept in her chest, talks in the hall always meant bad news. "What's wrong, Dr. Hojo?"

"Hiro isn't doing too well and if we don't get the overdue payment in soon, I'm afraid he'll d-"

"Don't tell me that!" Kagome interrupted with a sob. "He'll be fine, I'll have the money tonight!" She said before she spotted the nurse that told Hiro that he'll be receiving no more treatments unless the bill is paid. "And tell that nurse," she said pointing to said woman, "that the next time she wants to tell my son about not getting any more treatments and make him worry even more than he should, I'll personally make sure she's fired right on the fucking spot!" She threatened before turning and walking back into the room to wait for her son to wake up.

About an hour later Hiro woke up from his nap. "Oh, hi mom." He whispered.

Kagome winced as she heard how hoarse his voice was. "Hi, baby. How are you feeling."

"I'm okay." He said with a shrug as he tried to muster up his million-dollar smile, however, he was too weak to hold it for very long.

"Oh, Hiro." Kagome whispered with tears in her eyes as she grabbed ahold of Hiro's hand with both of hers. "I promise you that the bill will be paid tonight, and you'll be able to have your treatments again. For now, though, you need to go back to sleep to keep your strength." She said as she leaned forward and kissed Hiro's forehead. "I love you, my Hiro."

"I love you too, mom." Hiro said with a small smile before letting out a yawn and closing his eyes instantly falling back to sleep.

Kagome sighed as she stood up to leave the hospital. Getting in her car, she laid her head on her steering wheel and let out deep bodied sobs and desperate screams as she leaned back in her seat and punch the steering wheel a good twenty times before pulling herself together enough to drive herself home to get ready for her impending marriage.

Walking into her room she sat at her vanity to apply what little make-up she owned, which was a little blush, eye shadow, eye liner, mascara and some lip gloss. "That'll have to do." She said with a sigh, then sat about curling her hair before putting half of it in a high-top stylish bun on top of her head, letting a few tendrils of hair down to frame her face and finished it off with her grandmother's hair piece.

She then went about putting her dress on followed shortly after by her shoes and finally her jewelry. She looked at herself in the mirror and deemed herself as, as good as it's going to get, and left her tiny apartment. Pulling up at the destination of the wedding she took several deep breaths before stepping out of the car and walking into the building. Stepping through the door she saw a woman with long brown hair that was in a high-top ponytail standing in the hallway, seemingly waiting for someone to show up. When the woman looked up, she cocked her head to the side with a friendly smile.

"Kikyo?" The woman asked in a soft voice.

"Oh, uh, no." Kagome said before clearing her throat. "My name is Kagome, Kikyo is my sister, and because of personal reasons - I'll be taking her place in marrying Phantom today." She said with her head bowed a little, hoping the woman did not protest this.

"Oh, nice to meet you, Kagome!" The woman said with a kind smile as she watched Kagome straighten out of her bow. "My name is Sango." She said as she looked Kagome over making her feel nervous as to how she was dressed. "You look great! Phantom likes the simple look more than the overdone look." She said as she grabbed Kagome's hand and began walking towards tall double doors. "Come on, Phantom is waiting for you." She hooked her arm with Kagome's before knocking on the door.

Kagome heard the piano start playing 'here comes the bride' shortly after Sango had knocked on the door, they swung open revealing a large room that was decorated with bouquets of white and red flowers with white cloth banners that ran in between the flowers, it was very simple, but Kagome loved it. Her eyes then landed on a pair of deep golden eyes that was peering at her with so much intensity that took her breath away and sent her heart pounding in her chest, she had to look down to avoid his intense look.

As she reached the alter, Sango had let go of her arm so she could stand behind her. The priest smiled warmly at her before saying, "good evening, Kikyo."

"Oh, uh, good evening, but I'm not Kikyo." Kagome said before looking for a few seconds and pointing to a black-haired woman in the crowd. "That's Kikyo, she's my sister but due to personal reasonings, I'm going to take her place and marry Phantom." She said before bowing at the waist towards Inuyasha. "Please accept me as your wife."

Inuyasha nodded at the priest to continue on with the marriage.

Sango touch Kagome on the arm indicating her to stand up.

"We are gathered here today to unite Phantom and?" The priest stopped and gave Kagome a questioning look.

"Oh, uh, Kagome Higurashi." Kagome answered.

"Kagome Higurashi in holy matrimony, if anyone should object to this marriage speak now or forever hold your peace." The priest said before pausing, giving anyone that wanted to speak out a chance to do so. When no one did, he continued. "Please repeat after me."

"I Phantom." Inuyasha whispered looking deeply in Kagome's eyes.

"I Kagome Higurashi." Kagome replied after taking a deep breath to steady herself as she looked right back with her head held high. She was here for a reason, and she wasn't going to let her fear get in the way of trying to save her son's life.

"Take you, Kagome Higurashi."

"Take you, Phantom."

"As my lawfully wedded wife." Inuyasha continued.

"As my lawfully wedded husband."

"To have and to hold." Inuyasha went on.

"From this day forward." Kagome added.

"For better."

"For worse."

"For richer."

"For poorer."

"In sickness and in health." Inuyasha said before grabbing Kagome's hand, secretly reveling in the tiny gasped that escaped her lips.

"To love and to cherish." Kagome whispered, breathless at the electricity that ran through her the moment that Phantom had touched her hand.

"Till death do us both part."

"Till death do us both part."

"I now pronounce you Phantom and you Kagome Higurashi, Mr. and Mrs. Phantom, you may kiss the bride." The priest announced before a round of applause echoed throughout the room.

Kagome saw as Phantom leaned in and she closed her eyes, her heart hammering in her chest, she didn't know how she felt about kissing someone she didn't even know. As silly as that sounded, considering she just married the man, but still. However, her eyes flew opened as she felt his lips connect to her forehead instead of her lips, she somehow felt disappointed that he didn't kiss her on the lips.

"Now what?" Kagome whispered, her heart still thumping like a jackhammer in her chest.

"Now, we go home." Inuyasha answered with a cocked eyebrow.

"Home?" Kagome asked as she cocked her head to the side.

"Yes, home, you're my wife now - so it only makes sense that you live with me." Inuyasha answered as matter of fact.

"O-okay." Kagome stuttered with a blush. Well, that fixed her living situation.

Hope you enjoyed that chapter. See you next time!
