Chapter 19: Double Crosser

A/N: I have to do a three day hospital stay with my son May 6th-8th so you might get one or two more bonus chapters this week! Or maybe just one bonus chapter and a one-shot song fic (still Inuyasha of course lol) what do you think? Two bonus chapters or one bonus chapter and a song fic? Let me know! Looking out of his office window blinds, Hachie watched as Inuyasha and Miroku drove out of his long driveway before dialing a number and placing the phone on his ear. "I've done what you told me to do." He waited while the person on the other line talked. "No, he doesn't know what you're planning on doing." He listened. "Yes, I'll keep you updated on my progress, good-bye Mr. Yamaguchi." He sighed as he hung up the phone before sitting back down in his office chair and picking up a picture frame that held a picture of him, a woman and a little three-year-old boy. "I promise, whatever I have to do to get you back I'll do it." He whispered sadly as he brushed his fingers across the woman's face before moving to the little boy's face.
*Flash Back*
Hachie and his wife were playing with their little boy in their front yard when a black SUV pulled into their driveway. The family watched as a man with dark brown eyes and dark blond hair stepped out of the car and walked over to where they stood.
"Hello Mr. Yoshiyama, how are you today?" The man asked as he stopped to stand right in front of the little family.
"I'm doing okay." Hachie said as he moved to stand in front of his little boy, he didn't have a good feeling about this impromptu visit. "How are you Mr.?"
"Yamaguchi, Kio Yamaguchi." Kio introduced himself as he stuck out his hand for a handshake.
Placing his hand in Kio's, Hatchie shook hands with the man. "What can I do you for Mr. Yamaguchi?"
"Oh, it's nothing really, I just need your help in taking down a man." Kio shrugged nonchalantly as he straightened out his suit jacket.
"What man?" Hachie asked with an arched eyebrow. "And why can't you do it on your own?"
Kio shot Hachie a warning look before talking. "This man is a very powerful man that my boss and I have been trying to overrun for a long while now, you might've heard of him, his name is Phantom Taisho."
Hachie's eyes grew wide as he took a step back, yes, Phantom Taisho was a very powerful man indeed - he ran most of the city and had people cower at the mere mention of his name. "You want to overrun Phantom!? Do you have a fucking death wish!? No, I won't have nothing to do with whatever it is that you're trying to pull." He shook his head as he bent down to pick up his son. "Now, good day Mr. Yamaguchi, it's time for my son's nap so I'll have to bid you farewell."
Kio let out a single dark chuckle before stepping forward. "I don't think that you understand, what I said wasn't negotiable. You will do what I need you too or bad things will happen to you and your little family." He chuckled darkly before taking another step forward forcing Haching to take another step back.
"No Mr. Yamaguchi, I don't think you understand, I said you need to leave."
Kio growled darkly before ripping Hachie's son out of his arms and grabbing his wife's upper arm in a hard grip making her hiss out in pain.
"H-Hachie!"
"Daddy!"
Both Hachie's wife and little boy called to him in fear wanting him to save them, however, Kio wasn't alone - there was another guy with him and had a gun pointed at Hachie's head. Hachie couldn't do anything but watch the men drive off with his son and wife.
That night he received a letter on his doorstep telling him that they knew about the loan that he got from Phantom and that he was to stop the payments because step one on bringing Phantom down was to destroy his financial status thus making it easier to bring him down.
He tried to listen to what they were telling him to do, however, when Phantom came to his house and threatened him - he got scared and gave him the money. The next day, he received a picture in the mail showing his wife beat up, bloody and bruised, there was a note that came with the picture that said; This is what happens when you don't listen to orders, next time will be the little boy.
The picture and threat were enough to make Hachie vomit everything that he ate that day.
*Back to the Present*
Hachie sighed as he leaned back in his chair with a sigh as he rubbed his hands down his face. "What am I going to do?" He asked in a whimper. "If Phantom figures out that I'm double crossing him, I'm a dead man, but if I don't my family will die."
*X*
Kagome sat in bed waiting anxiously as the clock ticked closer to dinner time, they had just gotten back from visiting Hiro. He was still in a coma and his cancer did grow some but with the constant cancer treatments, they're getting it back under control and said that he should wake up soon. Inuyasha sat behind her as he gently rubbed his hands up and down her arms as he whispered sweet nothings into her ear making her shiver as his breath fanned against her skin.
Far too soon for her to have liked, there was a knock on the door right before it opened to reveal a thin woman with black glasses, ruby eyes and black hair that was tied up in a bun.
"Good evening Ms. Kagome, my name is Dr. Aikawa, I'm the hospitals therapist . Do you mind if we have a short discussion about what happened?"
"Do we have to?" Kagome asked with fear in both her eyes and voice.
"If you don't want to be put on suicide watch and have to stay here even longer, we do." Dr. Aikawa replied as she walked to the chair that sat beside Kagome's bed.
Kagome slumped in defeat; she didn't want to stay here any longer than what she needed to. "Okay, we can talk." She said softly.
"Okay." Dr. Aikawa nadded with a warm smile as she looked over her charts. "Before we begin, I'll have to have everyone that's not the patient exit out of the room please."
Inuyasha felt Kagome tense up in his arms before she looked back at him with wide fearful eyes. He looked at the therapist with dark determined eyes. "I'm not going anywhere."
Dr. Aikawa straightened up as she shot a look at Inuyasha. "I'm sorry, but I have to ask that you leave. I cannot ask Ms. Kagome questions if there are others around, it might influence her answers."
Inuyasha sighed as he stood up from the bed, he didn't know why people tried to go against him. He stood up with his arms folded across his chest. "I told you; I'm not leaving." He repeated darkly as Sango and Miroku came up behind him to stand in the same stance as Inuyasha was.
"I'll answer any questions you have honestly, please don't make them leave." Kagome whispered meekly as she looked down at her sheet and watched as her fingers toyed with the edge of it.
Dr. Aikawa sighed irritably as she went through her notes. "This just isn't done. There is no one allowed in the room while I'm questioning a patient!"
Inuyasha leaned down close to Dr. Aikawa as his facial expression seeped all the intimidation his body held. "Did I stutter?" He asked in his cool deadly voice. "Apparently you don't know who I am, so let me be to kind and introduce myself. I am Phantom Taisho, and I've been asked to stay here while the questioning is happening. I'll only repeat myself one last time, and if you still don't get it through your thick skull then you can leave, and we'll just have another therapist come and do the questioning. I.. Am.. Not.. Leaving!" He went on in his cool deadly voice that made shivers of intimidation run up and down Dr. Aikawa's spine whereas shivers of want and desire went up and down Kagome's spine.
'There's something seriously wrong with me!' Kagome thought with a blush as she bit her bottom lip and continued to play with the edge of the bed sheet. She didn't understand why she got so turned on when Inuyasha was threatening someone, whether it be physically or verbally it made her week at the knees. 'Maybe I should ask her to more thoroughly check my head.' She was a little surprised that even after everything that she had been through, Inuyasha's dangerous side still turned her on like no other. She was sure that all the bad things she's just been through that this side of him would scare the crap out of her, honestly, she was glad that it didn't. She didn't want to be afraid of any part of Inuyasha.
Dr. Aikawa huffed but looked down at her notes before looking back at Kagome. "Do you feel safe at home?" She asked as Inuyasha's posture relaxed as he moved to sit behind Kagome once again taking her into his arms prompting Sango and Miroku to also relax as they moved to stand by the window and look out of it while Kagome answered the question.
"Yes." Kagome answered without missing a beat.
"Do you have thoughts of harming yourself?" Dr. Aikawa asked as she wrote Kagome's answer down for the first question.
"No." Kagome answered.
"Okay," Dr. Aikawa said as she finished jotting down notes, "now, can you tell me what happened?"
Inuyasha felt as Kagome tensed up, he placed his hands on her shoulders before gently rubbing his hands up and down her arms as he whispered encouragements in her ear.
"They had me chained up in a dark basement in a way that I was raised off the ground, I couldn't touch the floor." Kagome began as she felt herself start to relax to Inuyasha's touch. "I remember trying to stay calm as I also tried to get free from the chains. But no matter how hard I tried, the panic made its way into my heart, and I struggled harder against the chains until I felt something warm drip down my arms."
"When you say something warm, what do you mean?" Dr. Aikawa asked as she wrote everything Kagome said down in her notes.
"Blood." Kagome replied as she grabbed one of Inuyasha's hands and started playing with his fingers instead of the bed sheet.
"Okay," Dr. Aikawa nodded as she jotted that down, "what happened next?"
"Once I felt the blood run down my arms, I stopped struggling as I started taking deep breaths trying to calm myself down. I knew I had to stay levelheaded if I wanted to save my son." Kagome took a shuttering breath before continuing. "I think I had some sort of concussion because shortly after I calmed down, I lost consciousness." Kagome continued as she traced the lines on Inuyasha's palm. "I don't know how long I was out before I heard something being hit together, I woke up to see Naraku and Kikyo playing pool together. I remember feeling rage as I watched them play pool until they noticed that I was awake, I asked them where Hiro was, but they didn't answer me. Kikyo tried to force me to sign divorce papers, however, when I'm pissed, I'm petty and sarcastic, so I asked her how was I supposed to sign them when my hands were chained then I called her a dumb bitch." She recalled then smiled at the snort that Inuyasha did to hide his laughter, she looked at Sango and Miroku and saw they too were trying to hold back their laughter. "She got mad and slapped me making my tooth nick my lip causing it bleed. I then threatened her saying that she better hope that either I didn't get free, or Phantom didn't find out where I was because either option didn't bode well for her. I then called them both weak and cowards for having to cause an explosion just to be able to kidnap me, Naraku didn't like that very much because he back handed me in the face saying that if anyone was going to die it'd be me if I didn't watch my mouth." She felt how tense Inuyasha got as he let out a low growl, she leaned more into his embrace and kissed the bend of his wrist making him relax some.
Dr. Aikawa wrote down everything Kagome had said before looking up at her. "How did you feel at that point?"
"At that point I was still pissed, so I told Naraku that I was sorry, but I couldn't physically watch my own mouth - however, that only made him even more mad, and he, um, he..." Kagome stopped for several seconds before clearing her throat and continuing. " punched me hard in the stomach." She whispered making Inuyasha and the others see red, he was the one responsible for killing the baby. They all promised that when they found him, he'd die a slow and painful death. "Naraku then took a picture of me and told Kikyo that they were leaving to go meet with Phantom telling her that they would have him eating out of their hands when he saw the photo. I remember trying to get free again once they left me alone but that only made my wrists bleed more and made my body hurt so I stopped as I began to feel scared. I started to cry wondering why they wouldn't just leave me alone to be happy." She went on as she let go of Inuyasha's hand to grip the sheets as tears started to gather in her eyes. Inuyasha noticed and hugged her tightly, though, he didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything. "I lost consciousness again, I don't know how long I was out or how long I had been hanging from the ceiling, but my arms were numb, and I couldn't feel my fingers - though I did continue to try and move them every once and awhile. What happened next, I don't know if my mind was beginning to snap into insanity or trying to protect my sanity because Phantom was there with me asking me if I was okay. I thought he was really there so I told him that I couldn't feel my arms and asked if he'd get me down, he apologized and disappeared. I remember saying that I was going crazy which the image of Phantom came back with a chuckle saying that I had to have been crazy from day one when I agreed to stay with him even after finding out what he did for a living. He stayed with me and talked with me until my mother came down the stairs." She said as she tensed, Inuyasha could feel the anger seep out of her skin at the mention of her mother, he tightened his hold on her offering what comfort he could give her.
"What happened with your mother?" Dr. Aikawa asked when Kagome didn't continue on with what happened to her.
Kagome took a shaky breath trying to push down all her anger. "I asked her to help me, but she said she wouldn't, so I asked why, and she said that I was in the way of Kikyo marrying Phantom. She then blamed me for her business going down, I told her that she was the cause of her business going down because she didn't uphold her end of the deal when I did. She got mad and took out a gun before pointing it at me and demanded that I signed the divorce papers. She then said that if I didn't sign them then I'd die because people who get in her way die just like my father did." She said as tears started to fall out of her eyes. "The basement door opened again," Kagome said in a whisper as more tears came running down her face, "Kikyo and who I thought was Phantom came through the door."
"What do you mean 'who you thought was Phantom?'" Dr. Aikawa asked as she continued to write in her notebook.
"Um," Kagome mumbled with a sniffle, "well I didn't find out until after I been rescued but Naraku was disguised as Phantom."
"But at the time of your capture, you thought it really was Phantom?" Dr Aikawa asked.
Kagome didn't say anything, just another sniffle and a nod of confirmation.
"What happened next?" Dr. Aikawa asked.
"The imposter asked if I actually thought that he cared about me, he then said that he didn't and that he only married me because he wanted to get back the money that was stollen from him. The Phantom that my mind made up to keep my sanity begged me not to listen to them that what they were saying wasn't true, but it's hard when it's happening right in front of you. He then told me to sign the papers, but I still refused. I was trying to hold on to all the happiness that I had, but all that went out the window when he called me a whore - which he promised never to call me." Kagome said making Inuyasha flinch and hold onto her even tighter as a silent apology even though it wasn't really him that said it. "My whole world was shattered, my son was missing, I was in pain and the man I loved was in front of me with his arm around another woman saying that he never even wanted to be with me. I couldn't take it anymore, so I agreed to sign the papers just so they'd leave me alone and give Hiro back to me. They released me and I fell to the ground screaming in pain as my arms were finally freed. I signed the papers, and the imposter called me a good girl, which Phantom does call me but this time instead of appreciation, all I felt was disgust at the words. Then my mother shot me in the stomach and that's all I remember, the next thing I knew is I woke up in the hospital." Inuyasha tensed and a deep growl ripped out of his throat when he heard that bastard called her a good girl, he'd rip his still beating heart from his chest for all the shit he did to his Kagome.
"And is that all that happened to you?" Dr. Aikawa asked as she looked through her notes.
"Yes." Kagome hissed, she didn't want to talk about the loss of her baby, it was too soon.
"Are you sure? Because-"
"Yes, I'm sure." Kagome interrupted in a warning tone.
"Really? It says right here that you were pregnant, you wanna talk about that?" Dr. Aikawa asked.
"No." Kagome replied in a dismissive voice as she folded her arms across her chest and looked away from the woman sitting beside her.
"Kagome," Dr. Aikawa replied softly, "I know that this is hard f-"
"Don't tell me that you know how hard it is for me!" Kagome screamed as she turned her head back towards Dr. Aikawa with fire in her eyes. "Have you ever been chained up for days on end, no water, no food, hardly any light sorce and people that are supposed to be family torture you!? Have you ever been pregnant and have someone punch you so hard in your stomach that you miscarry!? Have you ever had your own mother standing in front of you telling you that she was the one that killed your father in cold blood and then shoot you in the stomach after forcing you to sign papers to divorce your husband!? No? Than shut the fuck up telling me that you understand, because no you fucking don't!"
"Wow, that's a lot that's happened to you." Dr. Aikawa replied as Kagome finished screaming at her. "How are you coping with it?"
Kagome slumped against Inuyasha, she felt defeated. "To be honest," she whispered as she took Inuyasha's hand and started playing with his fingers once again, "not very well. I don't ever want to be left alone and I have nightmares."
"That's to be expected." Dr. Aikawa nodded as she wrote some more notes down. "Have you had any flashbacks?"
"No." Kagome answered.
Dr. Aikawa jotted more notes down before looking back up. "Though they haven't appeared yet, something might happen or be said that might trigger a flashback - you'll need to let someone know immediately if that is to happen."
"Okay, I will." Kagome whispered.
"We're done here." Dr. Aikawa said as she started to put her notebook and pen in her bag. "I am going to make you a script for anxiety medication, it'll help with your fear of being alone."
Kagome sighed as she continued playing with Inuyasha's fingers, she felt weak having to be put on medication to fix her anxiety. "Okay, thank you." She mumbled as she flicked one of Inuyasha's claw gently with her finger.
Once Dr. Aikawa had left the room Inuyasha moved to sit in front of Kagome, he gently hooked Kagome's chin with his finger and pulled Kagome's face up to meet his eyes. "Why didn't you tell me that you were having nightmares?" He asked as he gently wiped at her tears that were still falling.
"I didn't want to worry you." Kagome whispered with a shaky breath. "They're not as bad as they were when I first came to the hospital, they don't happen as often anymore now that you're here with me."
Inuyasha leaned his face closer to Kagome's. "No one will ever take me away from you or you away from me again." He whispered as he stared in her eyes.
"But what if something like this happens again?" Kagome asked in a small voice.
"It won't." Inuyasha shook his head confidently as he cupped her face with his hands.
"How do you know?" Kagome asked as she stared in Inuyasha's eyes.
"Because I have guards watching both your room and Hiro's room and if anyone tries anything, they have orders to capture the person and take them to the warehouse for questioning." Inuyasha informed as he rubbed his thumb across Kagome's cheekbone.
Kagome smiled a small smile as she leaned into Inuyasha's touch. "Thank you."
