Prologue: Welcome Back!
Hello again! My name is Will, William Clements, but please, I prefer Will. I'm fourteen years old, and I live in Royal Woods Michigan with my huge dad.
Some of you I bet are here for the first time, although I'm sure most of you have come back after hearing of my previous adventures with my rowdy neighbors, the Loud family. For now though let me give a brief recap of much of what's happened especially for those of you here for the first time.
The Louds are my majority female neighbors of varying ages and personalities, with the exception of the middle son, Lincoln who's my best friend, oh and the father obviously. I should say they're all my friends, but Lincoln's my best friend.
Although, I probably should bring up the second oldest daughter, Leni, she's so very beautiful with a pure heart. I had a bad attitude when me and my dad first moved here to Royal Woods. I at first soured myself to the Louds because of that, she's the only one who didn't give up on me despite me being a jerk…I gotta admit, I got a crush on her. Although I had a chance to be with her, I got to go to a nice dance at my highschool with her as my date, unfortunately I wasn't able to think straight, nor did I actually know how to dance, I messed up big time and embarrassed her and myself. I believe she forgave me, I'm gonna try to get a second chance with her. I just hope it works out.
That's right though, I was a pretty mean jerk in the past when I first met the Louds, I was standoffish and quite a bully, with a pretty bad temper, which I still have unfortunately. However I don't know why, I guess I always knew I was behaving wrong, I decided to stand up to bag snatching bullies to Lincoln and Clyde which was the turning point in my attitude. I should say I had help from Lincoln's athletic sister, Lynn Jr.
Interestingly, Lincoln got his teacher to go out with my dad and they seem to really like each other! So now I also live with my dad's girlfriend. Me and her have been clashing because she's been trying too hard to be my mother, but we seemed to work everything out and now me and her are starting to get along. After all, she has been giving me dancing lessons, to help me out with Leni.
Now I'm sure you're wondering, what about my mom? Well, she doesn't live with me and dad, what happened broke me and the pain of what happened was still too close to my heart to talk about, in fact the memories are still too painful for me to think about.
That is until Agnes Johnson, my Dad's girlfriend, took over some of my responsibilities of helping out around the house. You see I gotta help out with house work, yard work and cooking meals. Since it was just me and Dad living here, dad works on an oil rig, so it's hard work and very long hours. Since Agnes moved in, some of those responsibilities are off my shoulders. Although according to Clyde Mcbride, Lincoln's best friend, and another friend of mine, with burdons no longer being on my shoulders. The weight in my heart of my past is coming out. According to him I'm no longer distracted from all the stuff that keeps me busy. So when I tried to have a fun day out with my friends, I felt hurt when I saw happy parents with their kids.
That however leads me to this time. My friends have recommended I let out my pain by telling my story. I called my friends together to tell them my full story, and why my mom isn't around. The subject that pains me too much to think about let alone talk about, it's time to talk about it. I held it in long enough. Clyde is right, it has to be told.
To clear something up, no my mom isn't….you know, in heaven. At least not since the last time I saw her.
A light brown haired woman scrambled out of bed and out of her bathroom and rushed to her car with a piece of toast in her mouth. She wore a shirt that looked like a mixture of gray and aqua. Along with blue jeans and white tennis shoes. Surprisingly despite her rushing nature, she perfectly applied her eye makeup and lipstick. Only her eyeballs looked a little off because they looked frantic and tired.
Her car was a modest little vehicle, maroon colored and small enough for four people however it's best suited for only two.
She struggled to get her car keys into the ignition of her car, ramming her key into the sides of the key slot of the starter, instead of the actual slot. After a few amusing attempts to do so she finally does it. The engine starts and she begins to drive. She kept one hand on the steering wheel, her other hand held the toast in her mouth as she munched on it.
"Good thing I live on the bottom floor of my apartment complex." The woman said to herself. She drove out of the massive garage for apartment tenants and started to rush her car down the road. Her eyes were shifting around looking for something. It seems as if she's trying to be sneaky.
"I'm speeding, I hope there's not a cop around." The woman said to herself once more. Lucky for her she arrived at a specialty clothing store, without incident or trouble with the law. She slammed the breaks on her car. The car came to a loud stopping *SCREEEEEEECH!* Stopping perfectly into her parking space, but leaving smoking, black burnout marks on the asphalt.
The woman dashed out of her car with a bag around her arms as she frantically moved inside the store and towards the employee area and towards the timeclock. When she finally arrived she looked at the time, she saw that the time was right on the dot at the start of her shift. She punched in for her shift and threw up her arms in celebration.
"YES! I'M NOT LATE!" She cheered.
"Stayed up late working on your designs huh Jennifer?" Another woman said as she approached Jennifer from the side with a cup of coffee for herself.
"Yeah." Jennifer laughed as she reached into her bag and took out her nametag and a black uniform vest. She slid them on once she calmed down. "So Octavia, is Bernard in a good mood?"
"So far so good." Octavia answered. "Our boss walked in with a smile on his face, so it's safe to assume today will be good. Although you know it's Wednesday. You know what that means." Octavia teased Jennifer who just turned red. "Your man, our supplier is coming to restock our shelves."
"Stop that." Jennifer giggled as she playfully smacked Octavia's shoulder.
*Ding! Ding*
"Hello!" A man called as he smacked a desk bell to get help.
"I got the customer!" Octavia said. "Go talk to your stud!" Octavia teased again as the two coworkers separated.
Hours passed and a delivery truck pulled into the back at the store. Jennifer walked towards the loading dock and stood by it, obviously waiting for something, or someone.
A tall, handsome man walked out of the driver's seat of the truck. He had short dark brown hair and was quite muscular looking. His brown uniform quite accentuated this fact.
"Hello Travis." Jennifer greeted.
"Good late morning Jennifer." Travis replied as he opened the back of his truck and took out three medium sized boxes. "One box of felt, two boxes of threads, all varying in colors." Travis walked inside and set the boxes in a designated area next to some shelves.
"How are your designs going?" Travis asked.
Jennifer sighed. "I wish I could say they're going well, but I'm just falling behind schedule."
"Don't worry though. I know you can do it." Travis said encouraging her. This caused Jennifer to smile. "You designed all the outfits for my niece's Christmas pageant. I know you got what it takes to fulfill this wedding order."
Jennifer sighed again, this time in happiness. "Thank you for that opportunity. It really helped my portfolio. Thanks for believing in me."
"Anytime." Travis said smiling. The two smiled at each other.
Jennifer continued. "It's a stepping stone to my dream to make dresses. I was actually surprised that I didn't get asked to design at least the dresses for the bridesmaids, but instead I gotta make the suits for the Groom and Best Man. Not saying I can't do it, it's just something I'm unprepared for, but I'm always up for a challenge." Jennifer decided to change the subject. "So how's your basketball league coming along?"
Travis smiled triumphantly. "We won last night's game, so hopefully we'll enter the next round. Although that's nothing compared to my plans to start a band soon."
"Really?" Jennifer said in amazement. "You never took any music classes in school though."
"Don't worry about that." Travis said excitedly. "I already got the members, we just gotta get instruments and start practicing them! We're gonna take tutorial lessons on Youtube to get us started. I hope it's enough."
"What about song writing?" Jennifer asked.
"Well, we haven't gotten there yet, but don't worry we got some ideas in the books." Travis then checked his watch. "I gotta go make my other deliveries. Say would you like to get together sometime? Maybe have dinner?"
Jennifer blushed. She was just asked out on a date.
"Um…sure!" Jennifer smiled, her heart was racing big time.
"Great! How about Saturday night?" Travis asked. Jennifer nodded silently. "Awesome see you then!" Travis left the store and walked to his truck, there seemed to be some excitement in his step once Jennifer accepted his proposal.
Once Jennifer walked back into the main area of the store. Octavia, to Jennifer's surprise, was suddenly standing next to her with a smirk on her face.
"What?" Jennifer asked, feeling a little violated with Octavia being in her space.
"I saw you two looking at each other." Octavia teased. "He asked you out, didn't he? So? Is it dinner? Dancing? Movie?"
"Oh what's it to you? I mean sure, we've known each other back in grade school. But we've been apart for over fifteen years! We are not together!" Jennifer grumbled a little assertively, but with a smile on her face, as she walked back to the front desk of the store. Octavia walked a couple steps behind her. Octavia started to badger her with annoying questions.
"Come on!" Octavia insisted. "When are you guys gonna get married?"
Suddenly Jennifer paused hearing that last word, at least used in that context. It seemed to really ring in her mind.
"Octavia." Jennifer said, with a serious tone and a blank face. "Please, I don't wanna talk about this." Octavia backed off, finally getting the message. Jennifer got to the desk and her face fell to a slight depressed one as something was clearly weighing on her mind.
