Summary:

There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.

Chapter 108: Kuaidul's Codebreak

"Do the coordinates really lead here, chupa?"

"Map says so. This underground area of the Underground Alien Area…It's like a dungeon."

"No kidding, chupa? Chupa couldn't tell from all the booby traps, cabra!"

"You're welcome. They'd have been scraping you off the wall back there for weeks! Weeks if I didn't agree to come along!"

"And you'd be sleeping on a bed of needles tonight without Chupa to pull you out of that hole, chupa!"

"Exactly what was Yuga hiding this deep in the bowels of the Earth?"

"If it was Yuga on the tape, chupa." Chupataro was becoming more suspicious Tremolo's suspicions were true.

"Guess we won't know until we get there."

The floor beyond the entrance to the chamber which followed was broken up into individual panels, and on the opposite side was a high-placed altar with two torches.

"Whatever it is Yuga wanted you here for, it's probably up there inside that sarcophagus."

"But how do we get there, chupa?" Chupataro glanced down to the pitfall into darkness, then up at the altar's discouraging height. "Even with Chupa's kangaroo jumping strength, Chupa can't make it up there, chupa!"

"I don't suppose you brought your Gavil Charger with you?"

Chupataro let out a rueful sound.

"Have a look at this, Chupataro! Does the layout of this chamber remind you of anything?"

Three front panels and three rear panels repeated twice, with a larger gap running down the middle. Two panels in the gap down the middle.

Monster Zones, Magic/Trap Zones, and Field Zones.

"It's a Rush Duel field, chupa!"

"Ding-ding-ding! That's right!"

"Ohdo Yuga! Where are you?" Tremolo turned his head wildly. "Where?"

"I'm here!" a see-through Yuga called to them.

"He's a hologram, chupa?"

"We should have expected as much. Yudias and the others sent Yuga back to his time."

"I'm happy you made it, Chupataro. As you can see, there's a mysterious sarcophagus up there. To reach it, you have to clear a quiz."

"Quiz? What quiz?"

They didn't jump through all those hoops and over all those hurdles in the dungeon with computer game mechanics just to take some test!

"A quiz to settle an age-old question!"

"If it's an age-old question, hasn't it been solved in your time yet? Aren't you a genius?"

A tortured genius, if his behaviour as of late were indicative of a larger trend.

"Ahem. May I continue?"

"Please."

"Is a hot dog a sandwich?"

"Chupa?"

"You travelled through time, dropped Rush Duels on us, gave Yudias his cards and Duel Disk, tried to stop us from reviving the Velgearians without first telling us why, and now you're asking us whether hot dogs count as sandwiches?"

"It's a valid question."

"No! No, it's not! It's not even a tough one!"

"Hot dogs aren't sandwiches, chupa!"

"Hot dogs are like the perfect sandwich. Even the worst ones are still pretty good."

Tremolo was left staggering from Yuga's interpretation.

"Oh, come on now. Please, don't tell me you're two of those people. Any filling between a couple slices of bread equals a sandwich."

"But it's one piece of bread with a slit."

"Don't you debate me on this!"

"You asked! It was you who asked!"

"You only get one chance. You failed my quiz…and let's just say the way down is longer than the way up."

"WHAT? This game was that dangerous? This was no ordinary game!"

"Seems you were right, Tremy."

"About?"

"This guy is definitely not Ohdo Yuga, chupa!"

Laughter. The jig was up. The hologram changed.

It's too bad. He'd have been Yuga if he knew what a sandwich was.

"Hidey ho!"

"KUAIDUL!"

"Unfortunately, I am but a projection. A self-learning archive left behind by the one and only proto-Karutumata, to be activated in the event of his demise."

"Chupa isn't sad you're gone, chupa!"

"Me neither, you ancient ghost!" Tremolo still wasn't over his trauma from taking damage as Kuaidul's card. "So the story about Chupataro murdering Yuhi, and Yuga setting him up with Yuhi was a lie! Pure fiction!"

"Was it?"

"Chu?"

"Maybe it was or maybe it wasn't. It was my educated guess based on my computations of the Ohdos since my own destruction. You may yet be the killer."

"What's in the sarcophagus, Kuaidul?"

"Why, the passcode, my dear pawn."

"What passcode, cabra?"

"I will tell you everything…if you can shut down my program in a Rush Duel."

"A Rush Duel?"

"If it'll shut your infuriating face – Chupa has to do this, chupa!"

"Kuaidul Velgear."

"Chupataro!"

"GO RUSH!"

"GO RUSH, CHUPA!"

"My turn. Proto-Velgear Draw."

"I summon Prime Drake, Prime Dwarf, and Intersprime. I release Prime Drake. Prime Advance Summon. Prime Tractiger!" (Level 7 LIGHT Machine/Effect ATK 2500 DEF 1000)

"Prime Advance Summoned monsters can be summoned for one release, but if you do, they lose ATK! Tractiger's original ATK becomes 1800! 1800!" (ATK 2500 ↓ ATK 1800)

"I reveal Prime White Panda to activate Intersprime's effect. I send the top three cards of my Deck to the Graveyard. As Transamu Prime Armour Nova isn't among them, I don't have it to add to my hand with Intersprime's effect, but…I send Intersprime to the Graveyard to activate Prime Dwarf's! I return three monsters from my Graveyard to my Deck. Then, if the monsters I shuffled were LIGHT with different Types…With Prime Dwarf and Prime Tractiger as materials, I Fusion Summon!"

"Chupa! It's a Fusion, cabra!"

"In the vast universe, ripen the fruits, my young Karutumata! As you gaze at the great dark, piercing light gathers! Doom, grow bigger and stronger, and seek out knowledge! Fusion Summon! Prime Pierce Giant!" (Level 7 LIGHT Galaxy/Fusion/Effect ATK 2500 DEF 0)
