Halo, it's time for the next chapter. Enjoy the reading.

"Friends in arms means friends forever".

The team LLMM was able to settle into their dorm room the next morning. The room would have been spacious but not for four people. There were four beds, carpet throughout the room, 2 dressers, a large window that could be covered with a pale red curtain and at least 1 electrical outlet next to each bed.

- It's a bit tight. - Lance stated.

All 4 of them got their uniforms, Mike and Lance, like the boys, wore black suits, pants, white shirts and red ties. Lynda and Mandy, similar to the girls, were given black blazers, white blouses, red neckerchiefs, red and black checkered skirts, and shoes. Lynda exposed her legs more and only wore a pair of short white socks while Mandy preferred black knee socks.

- If we're good, - Mike started to unpack his medicines on the bedside table which made his department look like a small pharmacy. - we could fit.

- Team RWBY, - Mandy stated. – transformed their beds into bunk beds.

- How? - Lynda asked in surprise.

- Dangerously. - Mandy replied.

- We won't do that. - Lance nailed it not tolerant of contradiction, although the others didn't really object.

Lance placed a large armor stand in one corner to store his red armor and shield. On the opposite wall he installed a weapon holder on which he placed his sword. He put his clothes, mainly t-shirts, pants and underwear, in the closet and threw his almost empty bag next to the bed. He was ready.

Lynda's armor didn't need a stand, her leather armor could fit in a box, just like her hinges fit in a drawer. She may have more clothes than his team captain it didn't take her long to throw them into the other closet.

Mandy was much more orderly than her other two teammates, she folded her clothes properly, put her bow on the wall next to her bed, put her quiver in which she stored the arrows next to her, and put her daggers in the drawer in the same way.

For 20 minutes, Mike only packed his medicines, in addition to the change of underwear and socks that his mother packed, his own cutlery, his own glass, water bottle and at least a ton of wet wipes, because he doesn't believe in traditional toilet paper. A good 40 minutes passed before he put What The Heck on his drawer because until he spoke it was like a table decoration.

- We could do with that! - Mike finished packing, sweaty but happy. - How about you... - He noticed with disappointment that the rest of his team had already finished long before him, they had packed for today's schedule and were just resting before they had to go to the first class.

- You need to improve your pace a bit, Tubby. - Lynda said it while she was playing on her Scroll.

- We still have 20 minutes until the first hour. – Lance was just lying on the bed trying to prepare for the first day. Mandy didn't say anything, but she sat on her bed too and meditated.

Another 10 minutes passed before they all decided it was time to leave for the first class.

The Hunter and Huntress training wasn't very different from an average school training but it was still different since apart from fighting they had to understand at least 3 things, first of all, how to best help people, understand how the economy works and, of course, understand the history.

Hunters and Huntresses attend the following classes:

Grimm was knowledge and defense, where students learned about the nature of Grimms, their types and everything there was to know about them.

History, clearly, learning about the past.

Basic economic knowledge, where students are introduced to Remnant's currency and how the economy works.

A combat exercise where students can test their combat skills against each other, one by one, under non-lethal or dangerous conditions.

Weapons Knowledge and Maintenance, students can demonstrate their weapons and improve their maintenance.

Knowledge and use of Dust, where you can learn about Dust, Remnant's most valuable and indispensable resource, and learn the best use of it.

Team training where teams have to work together to perform different exercises.

Natural Science, where they learn the environment of Remnant's geography, as well as its natural features and dangers.

The first class was Grimm knowledge and defense which Team RWBY arrived a little late, mainly because Ruby, the team captain forgot about the time during their room conversion. A row of benches with four seats was prepared for each team in advance, so that each team could stay together during the lessons.

- Monsters! Demons! - Professor Peter Port, a very large and older man with gray hair combed to the sides and a large bushy mustache covering his mouth began the class. In the classroom, there were many pictures of Grimm, with their names next to them. Beowolf, Deathstalker, Nevermore, Boombabuk, Ursha and more were there. In front of his desk was something large, covered with a tarp. - Monsters of the night. Yes, the Grimms have many names, - He placed his hand smugly on his chest. - but I only see them as prey. - He laughed a little at that but no one in the class found it funny. Although he spoke rather monotonously and boringly most of the students tried to listen, although Ruby from team RWBY didn't pay attention to the lecture at all. - Just like you as soon as you successfully graduate from the academy. – He quickly returned to the point and continued walking up and down. - As I said, Vale and the other three kingdoms, Mistral, Atlas, and Vacuo are a safe haven from these creatures. Our planet is teeming with these horrible creatures whose main desire is to destroy all humans. This is where we come into the picture, the Hunters... - He winked at Yang who just rolled his eyes tiredly. - Huntresses. Such individuals, - He focused back on the class. – who are sworn to protect those who need it. Where? Are you asking? - He raised one of his fists excitedly. - In the whole world!

- Woohoo! - Mike was the only one who started clapping excitedly but quickly stopped when he was met with contemptuous looks from the entire class.

- And that's exactly why you're studying for it. - Professor Port continued. - But first, a story. About a young, handsome man. – He paused for a moment and gave the clear answer that no one was interested in. - Me. When I was still a little boy... - He excitedly started reciting the story, but almost no one paid attention to it because it was so boring.

- Typical conceited teacher. – Mandy just rested her head and elbowed on the bench.

- Yes, - Lynda also blinked flatly. – You watch it for 5 minutes and then it's gone.

- Better to explain to insomniacs. - Lance joined in.

- I think it's great! – Mike was the only one who watched Professor Port's lecture with interest.

- You are in a strong minority, Sweaty. - Lynda just shook her head.

- ... despite the strong cabbage smell, my grandfather was a very wise man. - Port didn't care that most of the class was about to fall asleep he continued the presentation with the same enthusiasm. "Peter," he told me...

Lance was handed a paper bag, which he opened and there was a funny caricature of Professor Port on it.

"Ruby Rose

Port Prof.

Grimm study

First day:

Professor Potty."

Lance looked over at the creator of the 'art', Ruby, she and his sister giggled quietly. Lance showed his team the art as the Faunus girls started to giggle as well.

- Uhm! – Port cleared his throat loudly before everyone stopped laughing and started paying attention. He didn't say anything to anyone he just continued his presentation. – In the end, the Beowolf didn't stand a chance against my raw endurance and I returned to my village with my head held high proudly after successfully capturing that beast. At the end, they celebrated me as hero. - Finally, he finished his rhyme and bowed. - The moral of the story, a true Hunter is honest, dependable, plans ahead, well trained and wise. Which one of you do you feel has these qualities?

- Me, sir! - Weiss immediately put her hands up and stood up angrily after seeing how Ruby wasn't taking the class seriously.

- Excellent. You can prove it, Ms. Schee. – He took the tarp off the cage in which a dark creature stared at the students with a pair of bloodthirsty red eyes. - Come out and face your opponent. - Weiss wasn't scared of the beast. – Change into your battle clothes, bring your weapon and the fight can begin.

Weiss, the second member of Team RWBY, took on her white blouse that was red on the inside, her white one-piece dress and white high heeled boots, and her gray duel-sword Myrtenaster, which had different colored rotating Dust reservoirs around the hilt.

Weiss was ready to fight, took Myrtenaster in her left hand and took a defensive stance, waiting for her opponent.

- Come on Weiss! – Yang and his team cheered our rich girl with all their might.

- Fight well! - Blake waved a small red flag with "RWBY" written on it in white.

- Yes! You represent Team RWBY! - Ruby reminded him which team she belonged to.

- Ruby, - Weiss glared at her team but mostly at Ruby. – I'm just trying to concentrate!

- Oh, sorry.

The team LLMM also looked at the Schnee girl curiously.

- What do you think, - Lance began. – is she as professional as her ancestors?

- she's full of money, so, - Lynda just answered with outstretched arms. - she bought herself the best of everything.

- The Schnee family is very influential not only in Atlas but also on the entire Remnant, - Mike reminded his companions. - many professional hunters and huntresses came out of their family. So, she must be amazing too.

- Just a name they like to be called. - Mandy didn't really care, she just glared at Weiss.

- It's good, - Professor Port raised his huge muzzle-rifle which had two ax-like blades mounted on the two ends of the grip. – let the fight begin! - He smashed the padlock that kept the cage closed with it and the monster escaped.

A black, boar-like creature came out of it, with white, bone-like armor growing here and there on its back, but its mask completely covered its head, leaving only its four red eyes exposed and its two huge fangs, which, although it grew out of its mouth but reached all the way to its head. It was definitely a Boombabuk.

He lunged at Weiss, his hooves pounding on the marble floor but she dodged the creature with a quick and elegant move and slashed it with her sword. Weiss turned to the Grimm again and it also glared at her angrily. It could feel Weiss' anger and indignation mixed with a desire to prove herself.

- Well, you didn't expect that, did you? – Professor Port commented.

- Hold on, Weiss! - Ruby continued to cheer.

Weiss summoned a large, snowflake-shaped rune around her which she used to propel herself off the floor, straight towards the creature, so she could strike down at it. However, the Boombabuk was more cunning than the Schee girl would have thought and Myrtenaster was trapped between its fangs and tried to rip the sword from the girl's hand.

- Come on, Weiss! Show me the boss! - Ruby was still enthusiastically supporting her team member.

Weiss just glanced angrily to the side and this momentary inattention was exactly enough for the Boombabuk to pull the sword out of her hand and throw it towards the other end of the room. The creature pushed the unarmed girl up.

- Now, what are you going to do without your weapon? – Professor Port laughed excitedly but prepared to intervene.

Weiss tried to get back to her feet but the creature lunged at her again, forcing her to duck to the side to avoid the attacking boar monster again. She quickly got to her feet and ran towards Myrtenaster as fast as her legs could take her.

She quickly picked up the sword and prepared to counterattack.

- Its stomach, Weiss! - Ruby shouted the advice. - There's no armor there...

- Don't tell me what to do and shut up! – She glared at Ruby who was a little distraught.

The Boombabuk curled up and spun towards Weiss like a deadly spiked ball. Weiss summoned several runes into the air, causing the Grimm to crash into a rock wall and immediately stop. Weiss jumped onto one of the runes to push herself off of it again, straight towards Boombabuk's belly which she pierced through with Myrtenaster.

- Bravo! – Professor Port congratulated the Schnee girl on her performance. - It looks like we can welcome a real Huntress in our ranks who can earn a lot with the right training. I'm afraid we're out of time for today. Read the posted lessons and stay alert. The class is over.

Although Port's class started off terribly boring, Weiss' fight with Boombabuk completely lifted the mood. Weiss, despite being praised didn't feel special at all. Rather she seemed smug and angry at the same time.

- Look at there, - Lynda just laughed. – the girl has just received a shiny A+ and she breaks into hysterics.

- A rich and smug b*tch. – Mandy just put her books away and left the room. - What can you expect from a Schnee?

The first day, of course was spent with the introduction of the other subjects.

History was much better, the topic was more exciting which was held by Professor Oobleck, he was also responsible for Dust knowledge and Natural Science. The Economy is even more boring than Professor Port's presentation and Professor Glynda's strict style only added to the fact that no one dared to fall asleep. In addition to Glynda, she even taught Combat Exercises and Team Training. They got Port again for Weapons Knowledge and Maintenance.

They're the 3 teachers who taught LLMM, RWBY, JNPR and many other teams in the class.

Everyone could show up for the team training in their combat clothes and of course, bring their weapons.

- As you know, - Professor Goodwitch began the presentation. The gym was gray, instead of benches there was a large stand and most of the room was empty. – you can't just fight the Grimms with force. While there are many Hunters and Huntresses whose Semblances are specifically designed to go head-to-head with their opponents, there are plenty of other Semblances that don't have much use on their own in a fight. This is not to say that those with such a Semblance has no use. This will be the essence of these lessons, you have to learn to cooperate in a team. Not even the strongest Hunters and Huntresses can do much alone without support. In the following exercises the teamwork will be the point. He pressed a few buttons on a remote control and the floors and walls of the empty gray room began to move until it became an obstacle course. – All members of the team must get through the obstacle course in the shortest possible time.

The obstacle course was really difficult and really had to be a team task since only very well-trained individuals could complete it alone. There were traps, walls to climb, chasms to jump over and if that wasn't enough, Grimm-like robots made it difficult.

- Of course, you'll be safe, - Professor Goodwitch continued. – no death or serious injury has yet occurred on this course but it doesn't mean you won't be in danger. You will feel the pain just the same and most of the traps can inflict painful wounds on you. As soon as I see that one of your life is in danger or your aura is depleted, I stop the practice.

On the field all the teams had to pass one by one and many performed well. Team RWBY was the best and completed the course in record time. It seems that after talking with Professor Port, Weiss was willing to put aside her wounded ego and accept Ruby as team captain. After being talked to by Headmaster Ozpin, Ruby was much more confident in leading the team.

Team JNPR achieved a mediocre level as Jaune's poor performance was a serious disadvantage but he didn't let this affect the team's performance and he led the team. Pyrrha's skills, Ren's speed and Nora's strength combined to get them to their destination.

Team CRDN just finished, who came second to Team RWBY. Their leader, Cardin, was a large boy in gray armor and carried a large mace, which he confidently slung over his shoulder.

- Look at there, - He looked towards the LLMM team with a sarcastic grin. – only the lamest team remained. – The members of the LLMM team just looked back at them sharply but didn't say a word.

- The last team, - Goodwitch looked at the list of team names and there was only one team that she didn't tick. – the team LLMM. - Lance, Lynda, and Mandy confidently readied their weapons but Mike just nervously clutched his weapon, What The Heck as he and his teammates lined up for the start line. – 3 2 1, on it!

Machines and obstacles were moving and were about to make the passage difficult. Lance, Lynda and Mandy set off quickly but Mike was slow and fell behind. They took the obstacles at the beginning easily but as soon as the robot Grimms took their turn, the momentum waned and they were completely stuck.

- Forward! - Lance ordered his team after cutting down two Grimm.

Mandy and Lynda had already gone ahead, Lynda outmaneuvering the robots with her speed and Mandy with her teleport ability. Lance, instead of pushing forward and supporting the two girls, had to go back for Mike who was completely exhausted, sweating and trying to keep up but he was panting so much that his lungs would spit out and he was surrounded by several robots.

Although he activated his force field, he was so exhausted that he couldn't sustain it for long and he needed urgent help. Lance cut through most of the robots and saved Mike but was unable to help the two girls from whom Lynda was forced to retreat and return to the two boys.

- Don't say we're s*cking because of your fat *ss!? – The faunus girl was terribly angry with Mike.

- I tried… - Mike gasped. - keep the pace…

- If we lose because of you, Sweaty...

- Stop calling me that! - Mike stood up angrily.

- Then drag your fat *ss!

- Let your weapons work not your mouth! - Lance ended the argument after more robot Grimms came out.

- I get them! - Lynda didn't give a damn about her teammates, mindlessly rushed at the machines and cut down quite a few of them.

- Lynda! Come back! - Lance knocked back one machine with his shield then slashed another with his sword.

- Maybe this will work. – Mike used What The Heck which brought down another Grimm with a volley of machine gun fire. Another got behind him and almost caught him but Lance drew his pistol and finished it off but he was unable to pay attention to his own opponent who took advantage of his inattention and knocked the pistol out of his hand.

- F*ck you! LYNDA! COME BACK TO HELP! – Lance became more and more angry and Mike started to worry that he would accidentally activate his Semblance.

- Leave me alone, you f*cker! - Lynda continued to fight her opponents in annoyance, leaving the two boys behind.

Lynda couldn't break through the Grimms, mainly because there were too many, she had no support and the traps made it difficult for her, so she was forced to retreat again.

- I'm the team captain! - Lance was getting closer but neither he nor Mike were making any progress. Lynda was also getting more and more upset that Lance kept pestering her that they should stay together.

- You don't tell me what to do! It's suck enough that you were appointed! - Lynda growled at Lance instead of fighting.

- We can't break through here! – Lance saw two things, the clear one and another, narrower way where they might be able to avoid the Grimms. - -Follow me!

- Wait, the other teams... - Mike tried to stop him but in vain, another robot stood in his way.

Lynda was finally crushed by the overwhelming force, fell to the ground and a white flash indicated that her aura had run out. Mike tried to follow Lance but he was slow and a larger group of Grimm surrounded him and he couldn't do anything but turn his shield back on.

Lance didn't get far either because the Grimms were already waiting for him at the end of the flight and, just like Lynda, the overpowering numbers unfolded and fell short. A flash of red and Lance's aura also ran out.

A yellow flash was the signal that Mike's aura had also reached its limits and his protective shield had lowered.

- I surrender! – He knelt down, threw What The Heck and raised his hands.

The Grimms stopped and the barriers turned off. The exercise was over and the team LLMM failed.

- Well, that was damn good! - Lynda nervously kicked one of the machines on the ground.

- Almost made it! - Lance picked up and put away his weapons.

- "Almost"?! We totally missed it! - Lynda was not so clear-sighted.

- We were good though. - Mike tried to comfort them but all he did was focus Lynda's anger on him.

- Just shut up! It's all your fault! If Lance hadn't had to protect the fat *ss we would have passed!

- Hey, - Lance came to Mike's defense. – you spoiled them senselessly, instead of us staying together!

- We could have broken through the Grimms together! Instead, you babysat this bloated clown!

- Did you fail? - Mandy finally appeared in a flash.

- Oh, here's the other one who left us in the sh*t! - Lynda was now staring at Mandy. - You didn't think to help?

- I completed the exercise. – Mandy just crossed her arms and closed her eyes smugly.

- None of you completed the exercise. - Professor Goodwitch typed the results in frustration. - You all get F. - That was the worst grade they got this class. Apart from the members of the LLMM team no one received F.

- Hey, I made it to the finish line! - Mandy, for the first time she looked upset. -That was the task!

- The task, Ms. Forrester, was to get the team to the finish line. - Goodwitch explained. - You all underperformed. Mr. Birmingh, your low stamina and lack of fighting skills were a serious disadvantage for the team.

- Huh! – Lynda smugly cut in but she was headed for the next statement of the professor.

- Ms. Dawn, your aggressive and irresponsible behavior and breaking the formation threatened the teamwork terribly. - If Lance hadn't stopped her in time Lynda would have gone after the teacher. -Ms. Forrester, you did absolutely nothing to support your team despite you could see they were in trouble. And Mr. Monroe, you wanted to solve everything on your own and you weren't decisive enough as a leader. I recommend that you work more on teamwork, as the Hunters and Huntresses are in teams for a reason. Unity is strength. The class is over.

It was the last class for that day and the students returned to their rooms. Although the other teams got along well, the LLMM team had a meeting in the evening without Mike.

- Mike is just a dead weight on our back! - Lynda began, clearly hating the fat boy.

- I agree, - Mandy supported. -he didn't help much in practice.

- Well, wait, - Lance was the only one who came to Mike's defense. – may not be the most promising Hunter candidate, but he's clearly trying.

- "Trying" is not enough! - Lynda was angry. - I will ask Ozpin to remove him from the team!

- You're not serious? - Lance couldn't believe his ears.

- Of course, I'm f*cking serious! Ozpin made a mistake putting him on a team with us!

The faunus girl left the room with that and headed towards her principal.

Mike, who was listening outside the door, was shocked and disappointed to hear his team's opinion and felt that Lynda was right. He felt himself like a burden on his team. Even though his academic results were flawless when it came time to fight, he was useless.

As he trudged sadly down the hall a familiar figure appeared. It was Headmaster Ozpin.

- Ah, Mr. Birmingham, what flight, late at night. - Instead of scolding him for making noise after going to bed he tried to help him. - I see something is bothering you.

- Headmaster... I... Did you make a mistake when you put me on the team LLMM? Maybe I shouldn't be here?

- Mr. Birmingh, I will tell you that I have made more mistakes than anyone in this world. - Ozpin just smiled kindly. -But I feel that putting you on the team LLMM is not one of them.

- According to my team, it was. I can't fight well, I'm slow and only make my team slower.

- Look, instead of focusing on what you're in bad, why didn't you focus on what you're good at.

- What do you mean?

- A Hunter is not always a vanguard and finds his place in the middle of the battle, for example there may be supporters. If they are persistent enough and their team trusts them. I feel that you belong here.

- Thank you, headmaster. - Mike felt a little better and went back to the room.

Lynda reached the principal's office, not even thinking that the principal was no longer in so late at night.

- Ms. Dawn, what are you doing here so late? - Ozpin may not have been there but Professor Goodwitch was. - Bedtime was at 9 p.m.

- I know ma'am, I just wanted to talk to Headmaster Ozpin.

- About what? - Lynda was a little hesitant to tell Goodwitch everything but she did.

- To remove Mike from the team LLMM.

- And why?

- Because he only hinders our teamwork. We would be stronger without him.

- Do you think he's the weak link? - Goodwitch pointed at Lynda.

- Why are you asking this?

- You are not an exemplary teammate either, Ms. Dawn.

- Sorry, but at least I can stand my ground in a fight! Not like that fat pig who sweats just walking down the hall!

- Either way, Ozpin can't do what you're asking because each team has to be 4 people until they complete their graduating.

- Can't we make an exception or if we get someone else?

- There is no one else and no exception. Instead of lashing out at everyone who doesn't meet your standards, try to help them. Be patient and kind to your teammates. James Ironwood, headmaster of Atlas Academy, once said that true companions remain companions for life.

Lynda thought, then left her principals and went back to her room. That was the end of the first day of school.
