9/11/2656- Union Fleet Destroyed

"Today, the Union fleet which left 2 days ago retake the Union's lost territory exited FTL in a system only 2 light years from Solassun. The fleet used the system's second planet to discharge its ships. After securing the area, a third of the fleet's vessels, including the People's Fist, began to discharge, with the rest protecting them. During this moment, the fleet was attacked by the forces of Warlord Vorn, the majority of warships he contributed to the Delos Campaign jumping into orbit of the planet and rapidly closing with the Union fleet. While the Union forces were preparing to fight the Warlord's fleet, a large strike force consisting of bombers and frigates belonging to the Blood Lances mercenary company appeared from the gas giant's atmosphere, attacking the ships still discharging. The attack destroyed or mission killed the majority of the discharging ships, a quarter of the fleet, including the people's Fist, which fell down the planet's gravity well and was crushed. By the time the Union fleet escaped the ambush, two fifths of its warships and the majority of its ships of the line were destroyed. The fleet's current whereabouts are unknown."
