Even though Seto Kaiba had turned down Joanne's business offer, her flirtatious and seductive nature with the employees and the staff allowed her to linger around KaibaCorp, weaving her way into the company's daily operations. She saw an opportunity in Mokuba and planned to exploit it while Seto and Kisara were away for the weekend.
Joanne and Mokuba sat in a private meeting room, documents spread out before them. Joanne leaned closer, her voice a whisper. "Mokuba, have you ever wondered why some of the board members seem so... distant lately?"
Mokuba glanced at her, puzzled. "What do you mean? They've always been a bit reserved."
Joanne sighed, her eyes locking onto his. "It's more than that. I've overheard some conversations. They're worried about Seto's decisions, especially with the recent media attention on his relationship with Kisara."
Mokuba frowned, concern etching his features. "Seto's always been able to handle the board. They wouldn't go against him."
Joanne reached out, lightly touching his hand. "That's what I thought too, but things have changed. They're questioning his judgment, wondering if his focus is divided. And you know how the board can be—they'll seize any opportunity to gain more control."
Mokuba's eyes widened, the seeds of doubt beginning to take root. "Are you saying they might try to push Seto out?"
Joanne leaned in even closer, her voice soft and persuasive. "I'm not saying it's definite, but the whispers are there. They're waiting for a moment of weakness. And with Seto and Kisara away, they might see this as their chance."
Mokuba's mind raced, his loyalty to his brother clashing with his growing fear. "What can we do to stop them?"
Joanne gave him a reassuring smile, her fingers lightly tracing circles on his hand. "We need to show the board that KaibaCorp is stronger than ever, that we have powerful allies. My father's company can offer that stability. A temporary transfer of shares to secure an alliance would send a clear message that KaibaCorp is unshakable."
Mokuba hesitated, the weight of the decision pressing down on him. "But Seto never mentioned anything about this. I don't want to make a mistake."
Joanne's eyes softened, her voice dripping with sincerity. "I have already spoken to you brother at one of our meetings about this. He knows this and I'm sure he trusts your decision."
Joanne noticed Mokuba's inner struggle and pressed on."You're not making a mistake, Mokuba. You're protecting your brother's legacy. Seto trusts you, and this decision will prove that you're ready to stand by his side, making the tough calls. He needs your help on this. Do you really want to disrupt his weekend off? I'm sure he hasn't taken a single one in his life."
Mokuba bit his lip. It was true that his brother never took a break and that had always worried Mokuba. Now when his older brother finally found his peace and happiness, Mokuba didn't want to be the one who would ruin this for him. Torn between his loyalty and the fear of losing everything he asked "You really think this will help?"
Joanne leaned even closer, her breath warm against his cheek. "I know it will. And it'll show the board that KaibaCorp isn't just about Seto—it's about both of you, the Kaiba brothers. This is your chance to step up and show them your strength."
Mokuba nodded slowly, his resolve strengthening. "Alright. If this will protect KaibaCorp and Seto, then I'll do it."
Joanne smiled, handing him the documents. "It's just a temporary measure, Mokuba. We'll transfer the shares back once the board realizes they can't undermine you two."
As Mokuba signed the papers, Joanne's eyes gleamed with triumph. She had successfully planted the seeds of distrust and manipulated Mokuba into making a decision that would set her plan in motion.
