Chapter 6 aka interlude 2.5 gray stripe bound the incredible journey to the lake.
A cat with a gray coat of fur with a darker stripe along his tail and back awoke to the sound of some pellets hitting a bowl below on the floor of tile in a kitchen the first thing that came to his mind was how long are these two legs going to keep me here until I agree to become a kitty pet well if they are they must have bees in their brains the moment I can get out of this den I am going to find a way back to my friends and family if only I could have been faster than those two legs wouldn't have been able to capture me and put me inside one the mesh boxes and carry me away to these mouse brained two legs can't they see I was a wild cat never meant to survive on these rabbit droppings they call food gray stripe questioned how his best friend or his kin can ever stomached this slop wasn't it better to go and kill your own food rather then needing a two leg to control when you eat and when you go outside to make dirt and he also had to worry about his half Siblings since their mother had been killed by a badger but the most important reason he had to get back was because his clan needed him to be their deputy along side their leader fire star who was also his best friend a ginger Tom who's fur coat was the color of fire with green eyes and then there was his son storm fur who thanks to the will of star clan both his mother silver stream and his sister feather tail had died they were the last kin the other had just as gray stripe got done thinking of everything that gave him a reason to leave this two leg den the door opened and before he could fly out the door the female two leg picked him up and tossed him out onto the grass of a garden where he saw a plump black and white Tom cat with amber eyes starring at him the new Tom said don't I know you from somewhere and then gray stripe remembered visiting this new Tom once before with fire star it was the former best friend of fire star from his kitty pet life before when his name was rusty the new Tom name was smudge and then smudge began speaking as well now I remember you you came here with rusty once before my name is smudge now would you mind helping my memory by telling me your name to which gray stripe answered my name is gray stripe and actually it's interesting because I became his best friend during our time in the clans and gray stripe then asked smudge do you know what happened to the forest near here actually I was hoping you could tell me asked smudge I don't know everything but according to what my two legs have been speaking they started destroying the forest it started with them by diverting the the river on the moor land and poisoning the rabbits that the cats of the moor used to use as their main food source next they used monsters to destroy both the normal forest and pine forest that shadow clan and thunder clan used to call home but unfortunately that's all I can tell you since the two legs were also capturing both clan cats and kitty pets and putting them inside metal boxes when one of Rusty's daughters tried to help save them I went to help as well and we were able to save all the cats from one of the monsters but I was unfortunately carried away by the monster and sent to a place with a bunch of other cats and dogs and eventually I got taken here by some two legs and this is my first chance being out side before this I had to make dirt in a small box inside the den that sounds awfully sad said smudge with a look of horror on his face and gray stripe answered well actually there may be a place the clan cats may still be living now to which smudge answered well let's go then which was a surprise to gray stripe but we need to visit a friend first for some help because who knows what is out there and with that they were off and the place turned out to be somewhere else gray stripe had seen before he saw a light brown tabby she cat with a white chest and paws with soft fur a thick tail and green eyes who was just stepping out of the small flap in the two leg door and said well isn't this a nice surprise why are my brothers two best friends here has something happened to fire heart to which both Tom's answered with we aren't certain but we did think something did happen to him we were just about to go into the forest to see if any cat from the clans is left and we were wondering if you could join us to which princess who was the she cats name agreed to so with that the three cats went into the forest where they came across a river that was very shallow which was a surprise to gray stripe and then princess said I guess this stream used to be deeper than it is now and gray stripe answered yes you used to not be able to walk through the water with out the stones there used to be lots of fish in it this used to be one of the five clan territories before the two legs started to destroy the forest with their monsters which was a shock to both smudge and princess but not as much as what they saw next because on a small island in the middle of the lake three cats who all looked elderly and sick were sitting gray stripe was the first of the group to greet the new cats and say where is everyone else to which one of the elderly cats answered gray stripe we never thought we would see you again unfortunately the others have left because you took to long getting back here there is nothing left the only reason why we stayed was because we knew we would die on the way to high stones which was apparently the new home of the clans were meant to live in to which gray stripe said well let's get going we have a long way to go but smudge said sorry but I have to get back home to my house folk their kits like for me to sleep with them and then princess interrupted by say I would rather go along with you gray stripe to go see the new clans home as well as my brother and my kitten cloud tail so with that princess and gray stripe started making their way to high stones along the way gray stripe told princess stories of his and fire stars life which princess was amazed by especially how they got their warrior names so let me get this straight asked princess a group of evil cats from from one of the other clans attacked your camp killing your clans healer as well as the cat who trained you along with taking kits from the nursery and they blamed another cat who was from the original bad clan but had joined yours because my brother had found her and saved her from starvation so you my brother another friend of yours by the name of raven Paw who was being trained by another evil cat who no cat except raven paw knew was evil yet along with two other cats named mouse fur and running wind were sent on a rescue mission for the kits and to bring the supposed murder alive and once you got close to the evil cats camp my brother explained to your group that the evil cat from your clan tiger claw was trying to spread a rumor that he was a raven paw was a traitor and then raven paw left your group to go live on a farm with a loner cat named barley and you found the innocent she cat who along with the elderly cats of the bad clan who the leader forced out to fend for themselves took control of the bad can back from the leader and forced him and his most loyal warriors out of the camp and saved the kittens and the exiled she cat named yellow fang decided to replace the dead healer of your clan and once you and my brother had been given your full warrior names you had to sit outside the camp all night and not talk to each other until the morning and shortly after that you two had to go and find the fourth clan who the evil ones leader broken star who you both had just defeated had kicked out to gain their land and bring them back home and on your way back home from doing this another clan attacked you at the edge of the gorge we came across on our way here and one of the other clan warriors fell off the edge and you were blamed for his death by the second in command of the other clan and once you got home you were both given a young cat to to train and one day while you were training by the frozen river you fell into the water and saved by a she cat from the rival clan who attacked you at the gorge who you fell in love with and had your kits but died shortly after child birth well that seems like quite the story wish I had been there to see half of it sad princess well let's get going said gray stripe there's something I want to try to do here and what would that be princess asked I don't see what could be in a cave that can help us find the other clans well that is the thing answered gray stripe there is a special stone inside this cave that allows a clan cat to speak with to our ancestors who now live amongst the stars in the night sky now I remember fire star said something similar to me when I gave him cloud tail and actually gray stripe continued he touched this stone to become leader of thunder clan now let's see if any spirits are willing to respond to us and with that princess and gray stripe went into the cave until they came across a cavern with a hole in the roof and a stone in the center of it now we just have to wait for night fall gray stripe said to which princess asked why do we have to wait until tonight and gray stripe answered the stone only works when the moon is at its highest point to which princess said well I guess it's time to go to sleep until moon high and gray stripe said actually I think it it may be more fun to go and visit raven paw and barley to which princess said actually I think that sounds good as well and with that the two cats left the cave that held the moon stone which gray stripe said was called mother mouth and set off for the farm that barley and raven paw lived on as they came across a ditch in the ground gray stripe said now I remember this place back when me raven paw and fire star were still young apprentices we went to the mother mouth as part of of our training and on the way back we had to cross this exact same ditch because barely told us that two legs let dogs run free from their chains at night little did barley know that the ditch got flooded with rats at night as well we got swarmed by them and they took one of the nine lives of our leader at the time blue star so where would this fit into the story you told me of your adventures asked princess to which gray stripe said actually it was just before broken star attacked the thunder clan camp the first time so we had to run all the home from mother mouth and me and raven paw were unable to visit it and we had no food all which caused princess to look at gray stripe with a look of amusement and said now I have heard of everything and with that the two cats came across a farm house and said cloud tail used to live here as a kitty pet now I don't know the whole story since I was in river clan raising my kits at the time but from what I've heard what happened was that during cloud tails time as fire stars apprentice he started taking kitty pet food from a two legs den and let the two legs capture him and he wound up here eventually fire star his future mate sand storm who I never really liked and raven paw saved him but that's enough out of me since we are finally at the the barn where raven paw and barley live and once they entered the farm house they saw four Tom's and one she cat two of the Tom's were wearing collars studded with dogs teeth both were black and white one had both of his ears torn while the other had one torn ear and a underbite they both had blue eyes close to them was a small pale orange she cat with thin dark stripes as well as her muzzle chest belly and paws and tail were all white with blue eyes the next was a black and white Tom with blue eyes and the last was a black Tom with white on his chest and tail with green eyes gray stripe went right up to the black Tom and said raven paw it's great to see you I haven't seen you since squirrel paw and leaf paw were born to which raven paw said and I thought you were dead when fire star told me you got caught by two legs to which princess cleared her throat and said so you're raven paw it's a pleasure to meet you and raven paw said pardon me but who are you and what are you doing with gray stripe to which princess said oh yes where are my manners I am princess the mother of cloud tail and the sister of fire star which brought a spark of joy to raven paws face and he went up to barley and said to him we have more guest to which barley answered with great just let me deal with my uncooperative siblings first if you want this barn so much you can have it me my mate are leaving now he said to the two Tom's with fanged collars and the pale orange she cat who said at least spend the night we have some more friends who could use your help going somewhere called the sun drown place to which barley said fine but this is the last time I do anything for blood clan or their kin but then one of barley's brothers answered well that's going to be difficult considering you are a blood clan cat that was a long time ago and just as barley finished speaking two new cats arrived at the barn one was a black Tom with a white chest and muzzle and tail tip the next was a pale colored she cat the she cat was then accompanied by three kittens one was a black and white Tom with a white belly paws muzzle and tail tip the next was a pale sandy she kitten with long fur and the last was a pale orange she kitten with green eyes long legs and a pointed chin they introduced themselves as socks,ruby,Bella,patch,and lulu the three kits Bella patch and lulu all went up to the pale orange she cat beside barley and said mother what are you doing here and then barley responded with you had kittens and didn't tell me violet sorry said the newly named violet I didn't know how you would handle the news after hoot and jumper here she pointed to the last of two unnamed Tom's threatened to hurt them if they ever saw them again which caused all the other adult cats in the barn to form a protective circle around the kits and barley said if you come near these kits I personally tear out your throat's myself and use your pelts for bedding in mine and raven paws nest and with that gray stripe and princess introduced themselves to ruby socks violet and the kits and patch asked are you a real warrior from the clans that live outside the forest to which gray stripe answered yes I was but I got separated from them by two legs and now I have to find a way back to them would you like to help me with this I could always use some company which got all of the kittens to stare at gray stripe in amazement but before I hear your answer I must tell you that actually I am the second in command of thunder clan so will you all agree to be my traveling companions along with princess here to which the kittens excitedly said yes that would be amazing if you could take us with you on your adventure and gray stripe said well now that that's settled me and princess here have to get going somewhere so we can find some directions to where we have to go to which raven paw guessed mother mouth am I right and the kittens asked what mother mouth was to which princess answered it's where warriors go to communicate with their elders which I haven't been to yet well actually corrected raven paw if I remember what blue star told me it allows us to visit them in our dreams not just communicate with them and barley said well let's get going and with that said barley raven paw gray stripe and princess all left for mother mouth and as they entered the cave which held the moon stone it began to glow brightly from the moonlight above them and gray stripe said to barley raven paw and princess now we just have to sleep touching the stone and we will be sent into star clans hunting grounds and at once all four cats fell asleep and woke up in a forest teaming with prey along with four giant oaks in the center and a sky full of stars above their heads and princess said I don't think I've ever seen such a beautiful place before and barley said I have to agree with you princess and just as barley finished speaking all of the stars came came to the ground as they descended they seemed to take on the form of cats that seemed to be linked together with a dark chain around each of their necks except for the leader who was pulling them around by a black ball of shadows that no light seemed to be able to penetrate as the dark ball got close to the ground it became a large lean sleek Tom with thin dark gray fur and black stripes with yellow eyes the second gray stripe saw the new Tom cat he said you I thought I killed you in the battle with blood clan after you betrayed the whole clan by trying to kill fire star as well as poisoning our half sister if I hadn't been there you would have succeeded to both to which the new Tom said it a surprise to see you here as well gray stripe as for that idiotic sister sorrel kit she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time I had to find a way of keeping her from telling my secret which got a gasp out of princess who was not used to the way warriors handled things and said how dare you try to kill a kit just to keep a secret and dark stripe went up to her and said now what's your name pretty kitty pet my name is dark stripe and princess answered with I am the sister of fire star and the mother of cloud tail which got dark tail to purr while saying well this is interesting I wonder what type of reward I will get from tiger star for the sister of his greatest enemy and the mother of the little brat he couldn't stand but while he was monologuing princess leapt for dark stripes neck with her claws and got him to the ground which seemed to make the chains around the star clan cats became unstable and fade and break apart which caused all of cats who had been chained to leap at dark stripe and pile on top of him so he couldn't move and the dark stripe reluctantly gave up and fine I give up you are all free for now but I will be back with friends from the dark forest to capture all of you kill all of your living relatives while forcing you all to watch and with that the evil Tom left and fled for the pine trees of star clan and a blue gray she cat came up to princess and said now that he has been dealt with I think it would be a great time to comemerate a new pair of cats becoming mates and gray stripe said sorry for correcting you blue star but me and princess are not a mating pair I actually haven't had a mate since silver stream died just as gray stripe finished speaking a new cat approached them she was a silver and black she cat with blue eyes she went up to gray stripe and said I don't see why you shouldn't have we had our time together it was fun and I gave you two beautiful kits but my time is over and I don't want you to be remorseful over what we had focus on building what you have with as many new mates as you want I have no problem waiting with them for as long as it takes to which gray stripe answered back with silver stream if you're okay with it I will start taking more mates starting with you princess if you will have me that is to which princess responded by pouncing on gray stripe and saying while rubbing her chin with her head I've loved you since the first time I saw you with my brother along with cloud tail and that young she cat I think her name was lost face but I didn't like it and I hope she got a new name to which gray stripe responded actually fire star gave her a new name as his first action as leader her new name is bright heart and she is cloud tails mate and they have had a kit of their own who is almost a warrior already to which princess said I can't wait to get where the other clans are so I can see my grand kit and see if my brother has had any kits hopefully these cats can help us get there to which a Tom with pale blue gray fur and blue eyes said it would be my honor to lead you back to your family and friends and the new territory by a lake and with that he turned himself into a star and gray stripe said thank you stone fur and with that gray stripe princess raven paw and barley all woke up to see the star that was stone fur leading them heading back towards the barn that was once barely and raven paws home and once they got to it they saw socks Bella ruby patch and lulu all outside waiting for them and barely asked the kits where is your mother and then ruby answered the two legs found out about us cats in the barn and took violet jumper and hoot inside the house shut the door and won't and won't let them out as well as toss this random she cat out with us the new she cat was a small short furred light gray tabby with blue eyes and a torn ear she introduced herself as Millie the former house cat of the two legs in the den near the barn and they threw her out because has been having problems hearing things recently to which princess said that doesn't seem fair at all me my mate she pointed to gray stripe with her tail along with our friends are heading towards a safe place where there are many more cats than you can even count and I would be willing to share gray stripe with you which got a purr out of every cat even gray stripe and Millie said you have a deal Mrs sorry I didn't catch your name that's alright answered princess my name is princess now all we have to do is follow this star and it will lead us the way there and just as princess finished speaking a new star came to the ground and became a transparent cat who seemed to have orange fur and green eyes which got a gasp out of both princess and gray stripe who said fire star/brother why are you a ghost cat and the new ghost cat starred at them questioningly and said I don't know who you are referring to my name is Jake and then princess asked wait did you ever mate with a cat named nutmeg and ruby added and also a cat named quince to which Jake answered actually I did and then princess stated sorry for the confusion it just that you look just like your son who is my brother which makes you ruby socks and my father and Jake said thank you I take it as a compliment that I look like one of my kits and is that blue fur beside me no can't be they were a she cat last time I saw them and stone fur corrected Jake by saying actually I'm her son now let's get going and with that the group left for the mountains in the distance and once they crossed over the mountain they came across a battle happening and between two groups of cats and gray stripe said something's never change.
