Chapter 41: The Black Bulls Captain vs. the Crimson Wild Rose

"What the..." Yami muttered, watching the numerous light beams shoot up into the sky, signaling the souls of the long-departed elves had latched onto their human hosts. That light just now wasn't an attack. So, what the hell was it? I feel strong magic throughout the kingdom. This Ki... he frowned. Don't tell me... "So, you two finally showed up." he addressed the elf-transformed Owen and Marx. "But why the hell are you all shiny and attacking our comrades, Marx? Owen-oji-san?"

"Sorry, but we weren't the men you knew anymore." the elf in Marx's body responded. "Long ago, we were destroyed by the humans of this Kingdom. We are elves."

"This time, we'll be destroying you." the elf in Owen's body declared. "Just as you did to us, we will destroy every last one of you."

"This sounds like it's going to be a pain in the ass." Yami remarked.

"Don't worry." Elf!Marx assured, readying his 'Torment Canceler'. "You'll be put out of your misery soon enough." he fired off his energy bolts in rapid succession.

Covering Julius' body with a 'Black Cocoon', Yami took the black sphere with him as he continued to defend against Elf!Marx and Elf!Owen.

"I don't know who that corpse is, but is it precious to you?" Elf!Owen asked. "It doesn't matter who they are. All humans are sinners and deserve to die."

"If it's that precious to you, how about I rip it to shreds right in front of you?" Elf!Marx aimed his mounted bow at Julius.

"Don't you dare make those two say shit like that ever again." Yami growled.

"You're just going to make it easier to hit you if you leap right at us." Elf!Marx smirked as Yami jumped at them. "Memory Magic: Torment Canceler."

"Dark Magic: Black Hole." Yami absorbed the attack. "Dark Cloaked Avidya Wild Slash." he sliced Elf!Owen's 'Qualle Operation' into pieces and used the shattered pieces to close in on his target. "Dark Cloaked Avidya Blunt Strike." he knocked the two elf-possessed mages out.

"My comrades..." Charla snatched Elf!Marx and Elf!Owen with her briar vines. "It appears you let your guard down, considering you just woke up. Rest a while within my magic."

"That's nice of you." Yami grinned. "It's not like you, though, Spiny Prickly Queen."

"I don't know who you are, but you seem quite skilled for a human." Charla remarked.

In the city...

"Get the hell outta here, you dumbasses." Yami barked, having taken he and Charla's fight to the streets. "Dark Cloaked Avidya Slash." he forced Charla out of the rose she was hiding in.

"You have impressive instinct for a human." Charla noted.

"That isn't instinct." Yami shot back. "I distinctly felt your Ki. You used the power of the curse to make yourself stronger through sheer grit." he stated, realizing the red roses were the true form of Charlotte's Briar Magic and now some other woman's using your magic perfectly. That's pretty lame, Prickly Queen."

"Nee-san!" Sol came in on her 'Rampaging Mother Earth' golem. "Back then... when you attacked us... that was some kind of mistake, right?"

"Stop acting so familiar with me, human." Charla rebuked. "I only have a younger brother. I have no younger sisters."

"She's basically controlled by some kind of spell." Yami informed the younger mage. "Don't worry about it. I'll deal with her. You showed up at a good time, though." he passed the 'Black Cocoon' containing Julius' body over to the earth golem. "Take this and go to the Chamber of Prayer. Hime-sama will know what to do."

"You cannot run now." Charla renewed her attack after Sol retreated.

"Who said I was gonna run?" Yami fired back. "Dark Magic: Black Hole." he absorbed the briar vines. "Your subordinate is crying, you know?" he barked, clashing swords with Charla. "Why the hell are you letting them control you like this? You're not that weak, Charlotte."

"Briar Magic: Scarlet-Braided Beautiful Battle Spear!" Charla fired off her briar spear.

"Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash!" Yami countered.
