Chapter 45: We Won't Lose to You

With Yami and Finral...

"Captain Vangeance from the Golden Dawn?" Finral echoed in shock after Yami updated him.

"He's also the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, Licht." Yami added. "'William is asleep inside me.' is what he said. On top of that, he's not the only one who went all weird. It affected other Magic Knights, too: Marx, Owen-oyaji-san and the Spiny Prickly Queen. I'm glad you weren't taken over."

"Wait..." Finral breathed. "Does that mean Langris' body was also taken over?"

"Probably." Yami confirmed. "Finral, let's go."

With Asta...

"I think it's time we made you quiet down." Elf!Hamon noted.

Pulling out both the 'Demon-Slayer Sword' and 'Demon-Dweller Sword', Asta deflected Elf!Hamon's rain of glass shards and sliced through Elf!Klaus' 'Blazing Spiral Lance'.

"Our hatred for you is far stronger than your pathetic bond." Elf!Klaus snarled, throwing out a pair of spiraling steel lance heads at Asta.

Asta managed to cut through the lance heads, only to have a second pair shoot out from the ground, piercing his body.

"Come on now." Rhya tsked. "If you push yourself too hard, you're gonna die. Of course, we won't need you anymore once we get your Grimoire and your swords. It doesn't look like you're going to give up. In that case, if you want to protect your precious little royal friend and die, go right ahead."

As if on cue, both Elf!Klaus and Elf!Hamon summoned their constructs.

"Not yet..." Asta swore. "I'm not going to die yet. I promised my friend I'd come back alive. I won't let my friends kill my other friends. I'll survive this. I'll survive all of this. And then, I'll become the Wizard King."

Now awakened, Yuno cast a 'Towering Tornado' to block off Elf!Klaus and Elf!Hamon's attacks. "What are you talking about, Asta?" the wind user rebuked. "I'm the one who's going to become the Wizard King."

"You're one of us." Elf!Klaus reminded. "Now, come here."

This mana... Rhya was puzzled. The reincarnation definitely worked. But it looks like he's still... Licht's Grimoire and his swords are right in front of him, and he hasn't responded. I guess it could be because he used the ultimate forbidden spell to bring back his elf friends. Looks like they might need more time.

"I can tell." Yuno confirmed. "What's moving their bodies right now are souls that belong to others. Klaus' and Hamon's souls have been put to sleep. I am a Magic Knight of the Clover Kingdom, Yuno. No one else."

"Clearly, that vessel is a human with a very strong will." Elf!Klaus concluded. "It appears he hasn't fully awakened yet. Humans are such a nuisance. We're going to have to kill the two behind you and then have you leave that body."

"Those bodies belong to my senior Knights." Yuno snapped, using an overpowered 'Towering Tornado' to cancel Elf!Klaus and Elf!Hamon's attacks. "You're going to have to leave."

"I don't know how we're going to get them out of there." Yuno admitted. "We may have to incapacitate and bind them. I'll stop them. You take Mimosa and get back."

"Like hell I'm gonna let you do this alone." Asta burst out laughing.

"Union Magic: Le Château de Verre." Elf!Klaus and Elf!Hamon completed their combination spell.

Activating 'Spirit Dive' and 'Black Asta Mode', the two adopted brothers shot straight towards armored tank, Yuno's 'Spirit Storm' and Asta's 'Black Meteorite' taking out their opponent's combination spell and knocking both casters unconscious.

"Licht?" Rhya blinked, seeing Licht cushioning both Elf!Klaus and Elf!Hamon's fall with his magic.

Landing on the ground, Licht pulled out the 'Demon-Destroyer Sword' from the ground, restoring it back to its original form.

"Asta, be careful." Yuno warned, noticing Asta's 'Black Asta Mode' was reaching its limit.

However, before either teens could react, Licht was already in front of Asta and reclaimed the 'Demon-Dweller Sword'. Restoring it, he swung the sword at Asta, Yuno barely managing to get the Anti-Magic user out of the way.

"Wind Spirit Restraining Magic: Liable Tempest." Yuno took advantage of the slight opening Asta provided and bound Licht in a cocoon of wind.

Asta took over and charged straight at the trapped Licht with a drawn 'Demon-Slayer Sword'.

"Asta, behind you!" Yuno barked, Licht had somehow freed himself before the sword hit and sent the Anti-Magic user to the ground with a slash. "What are we going to do about that guy's teleporting, Asta?" he asked, the two boys were now backed against the wall.

"I'm gonna surpass my limit right now." Asta declared, only to have Licht send him smashing through the walls with a sword swing before kicking him into a pool of water.

"Wind Spirit Magic: Spirit Storm." Yuno took over the fight after Asta lost his 'Black Asta Mode'.

Licht raised the 'Demon-Dweller Sword', absorbing the magic beam and sending the attack back at Yuno.

Licht and Yuno then took the fight to the air

"Licht!" Rhya shouted, realizing Yuno had activated 'Mana Zone'. He was even more shocked to see Asta returning to the fight after reactivating his 'Black Asta Mode'.

In the air, having knocked Licht off-balance, Asta reached out and took back the falling 'Demon-Destroyer Sword.

In retaliation, Licht fired off a powerful magic blast from the 'Demon-Dweller Sword', sending both teens through the bottom of the dungeon and into the lake below and forcing the remaining unpossessed Royal Knights to defend themselves.
