A/N Graduation day, incredible, spectacular battle. That shouldn't have worked. It took a volcano to destroy the other one, a bomb wasn't going to be enough.

And than there's the attack on Angel, what exactly was the Mayor hoping to accomplish? There was only one cure for the poison, the blood of a Slayer. Did he expect Buffy to feed herself to Angel and expect her die? Because he really didn't seem to expect Buffy to decide to commit murder and feed Faith to Angel. He was seriously pissed over that choice of Buffy's. So pissed he tried to kill her himself. Which is why I think he arranged the revenge for Faith that he did, a chance for her to destroy Buffy's life, only it led to Buffy trying to kill Faith a second time when she chased her to Los Angeles.

And the Watchers Council? Regardless of Buffy's choice to quit the Council or not, a competent Council would have still sent a team to ensure a dinosaur sized demon didn't try to take over the world.

So, really spectacular two part episode that makes no sense.

Still, that battle was great. ;)

The next three days had been spent casting spells, curses, vanquishes and containment spells. Anything they could think of that might affect the Mayor. The night before their graduation a team from the Council arrived. An eight man squad, heavily armed and with a Magic user of their own, who was impressed by the Scoobies own efforts.

The day of their graduation dawned bright and early, a clear beautiful blue sky and warm. The head of the Council's team explained their plan.

"Your efforts may have stopped him and nothing may happen. If that's so, we can all get plastered and cheer over the fact that we're still alive. if it's not, whatever he turns into gets shredded." He showed the Scoobies the toys they'd brought with them.

"P90's." Xander grinned. "Nice choice, single shot, semi auto and full auto. Top mounted magazine, small caliber, high velocity rounds. Shredding him is a good way of putting it. Who gets to use them?"

"Any of you have a license?" When they all raised their hands, his eyebrows shot up. "Slayers who use guns? Willingly?"

"They came in real handy when Faith and I were surround by about twenty of them that worked for the Mayor." Buffy told him. "Shotguns with 10 gauge shells. Xander and Wesley taught us how to use them. Cordelia already knew how."

"Well, we brought two extra so, Mr. Harris, Mr. Wyndham-Price, you can both have one. We weren't expecting the Slayers to be interested in them. And don't worry about running out of magazines, we have a trunk full."

"Besides the guns, what's the plan?" Wesley asked. "Do you have some talisman or amulet or something to use against him?"

"Nope, all the research the Council did came up with the same thing, each time someone succeeded in Ascending, it took a volcano or a rock slide or an avalanche or even an earthquake to stop them. In other words, massive amounts of destruction. These things can be stopped, it just takes a lot to do it. So the plan is this, if and I emphasis if, he still transforms, because there's a chance your spells stopped him or at least affected him. My team, Mr. Harris and Mr. Wyndham-Price will be stationed under cloaking spells around the courtyard. If he transforms, the rest of you get the students and guests out of here while the rest of us attack it. Than we go celebrate."

"Surely there's more to it than that." Wesley protested.

"Yes, why do you think we have a Magic user with us? It's not just so he can cloak us. We want Miss Madison working with him to set up and hold a containment spell in place."

"Force him to hold still as you shred him?" Willow asked. "If they can hold it, he can't fight back and he can't escape. Makes killing him a whole lot easier."

"We have one more part of the plan, Mr. Harris, we were briefed on your condition. And the fact that you've used your thralling ability to hold a demon's mind. We want you to do that with him, a containment circle just holds his body in place, mentality he'll still be fighting, trying to figure a way out. If you can keep him from doing that, it covers all the bases and destroying him shouldn't be too difficult at that point, especially if you've succeeded in weakening him with the Magic you've been casting."

"It may not work." Xander warned. "The vamps around here have become aware of my condition and the Mayor has vampires working for him. He may have figured out a way to block me."

"It's still worth a shot."

Xander nodded slowly. "Yeah, it is. Alright, I'll do it. Let's get set up, people are already here and it won't be long until the ceremony starts."

Under cloak the Council team, Xander and Wesley each took up a position around the courtyard. Amy and the Council's Magic user prepared to cast a containment circle and Amy called on Hecate once more for power, thinking she really needed to do something to thank her goddess for all her help. While Buffy, Willow, Oz and Faith each took a seat and waited to see if the Mayor still transformed. Everyone was ready and waiting as the Mayor appeared and began his speech.

They just weren't expecting the sudden eclipse or the vampires that appeared within minutes of it starting.
