Amy walked slowly back to the school after the conversation with Cordelia wondering if there was some way she could help Xander. She had no idea how though and mixing Magics was a bad idea, she could make things worse just by trying. At least though, she could still be a friend. He could probably use all the friends he could get considering how alone this thing that had happened to him could leave him in the future. She was so intent on the conversation with Cordelia that she didn't see the dark haired girl until she ran into her.

"Hi, sorry, I was trying to get your attention but you seemed lost in your own world." The girl told her.

"Um, yeah, sorry I just got some bad news about a friend. Was there something you wanted?"

"Probably won't come as much of a surprise to you when I tell you I'm a beginner witch. I lost something really important to me and I found a spell to help me find it, but it requires two Magic users to make it work. One to work the Magic and one to focus on the lost object. I cast a spell to help me locate another witch and I found you. My name is Anya, I just transferred to Sunnydale and my necklace, which is a family heirloom I inherited from my grandmother, was lost in the move. I was hoping you might be willing to help me find it."

"I've never tried a locator spell on an object before, sounds interesting. My name is Amy, by the way."

"Nice to meet you, Amy. I realize you don't know me, but maybe if we get to know each other and start working on being friends, maybe you'll be willing to help me."

"Okay." Amy was intrigued by the spell and having another magically inclined friend was also an intriguing idea. "Tell me about yourself."

"I come from a long line of witches actually and the necklace connects me to the women who came before me, spiritually, not magically and helps center and guide me. Which makes it doubly important that I find it. Maybe even triplely because another Magic user might be able to channel that spiritual connection for their own purposes."

"There's a lot of potential power in the spiritual." Amy agreed, feeling concerned. "After all, it's how religious icons can affect vampires."

"Exactly and given that it was lost enroute to Sunnydale, a place with a lot of dangerous power already, I'm frankly scared at the possiblity that it wasn't so much lost, as it was stolen."

Now Amy was alarmed, because yes, that was a possibility that needed to be considered. "Tell me about the spell." She suggested, if it wasn't dangerous in and of itself and it kept a spiritual powerhouse out of the hands of someone who could twist it, maybe she should help Anya.

Anya opened the book she was holding and showed Amy the spell. Amy quickly read through it and found nothing objectionable, it was just what Anya said it was, a spell to find something lost.

"Alright, I'll help you. I have half an hour left of my lunch period, let's find an empty classroom and see if we can make this work."

"Thank you. You have no idea what this means to me." Anya followed Amy, secretly smiling, D'Hoffryn may have denied her a new power center, but that didn't mean she couldn't reclaim the one those goodie two shoes had destroyed. Vengeance would be hers again!

The two girls found an empty classroom, not hard considering this was Sunnydale and way too many teenagers ended up Sunnydale statistics. And each took a seat on the floor and tried to center themselves, Anya concentrating on her power center and Amy focusing on the Magic. But first, she had to call on her patron goddess, so she'd have the power to do the spell at all.

"Goddess Hecate, hear your servant

Grant me strength, grant me power!"

Amy felt the power flow through her and had a passing thought on how it really was too bad she couldn't use this power to help Xander, before taking Anya's hands in hers and the two recited the spell together.

"Release the blockage, thaw the frost.

Open your eyes to what was lost!"

And felt the power surge out of her, more actually than the spell should have required and was nearly knocked unconscious as her vision swam. The power locked onto something and Amy pulled with all her mystical might and than collapsed as the spell completed and the darkness took her.

"What the Hell was that?!" Anya exclaimed. "That shouldn't have happened! And where the Hell is my power center?!" Ignoring the unconscious girl and angry over the failure of the spell, she stomped out of the classroom, determined to find another way to get her power center back.

Across town a young man materialized in a warehouse and looked around. "Uh, where'd all the vampires go?" He muttered. "Okay, well let's see if we can't figure this out. Work, brain, work. Library, Giles, Answer Man!" And headed out of the warehouse to the High School.
