Chapter 6: First Year Part 2
- April 15, 1992 -
Spring was upon the castle as the students got used to their classes once more. Arthur had spent a good portion of his time in the library. Studying and doing homework while trying not to think about what had been in his trademark scar. According to Ironjaw he had held a piece of Voldemort's soul lodged in his scar. Now it was gone so now his trademark scar was starting to fade. It still made him feel ill just thinking about it all. He had given Ironjaw and Bladeshatter the permission to use both of those pieces to hunt for the rest of the shards.
He looked up as he heard the door open and Penelope walked in. He gave her a smile as she sat across from him. "So what has you all quiet since you returned?" Unlike most people Penelope and Tonks respected his space. They poke of prod unless they had a reason to. Like now when he had spent most of his days holed up in the library. He was here more than Hermione Granger. "I found some disturbing news during the holidays. But it's being handled by my guardian and our account managers." He said as he finished the last bit of his homework before stretching in his seat.
"Well it's a good thing you've been studying. The exams are just around the corner Arthur." She ran a hand through her black locks and smiled at her young friend. Being in her fifth year allowed her to help the younger students. Especially her best friend Tonks and her newer friend Arthur. She knew he was smart but he wasn't the smartest. Still he outshined her ex boyfriends little brother. Thinking about Percy made her nose crinkle in disgust.
"Stop thinking about him Penny. And I know, I am prepared for them as well as can be. I just can't wait for summer to start. My dad had promised me time away from the farm." He shoved his books and assignments in his satchel before standing up and taking the other books back to the shelves. "Well hopefully you'll be able to shop with me and Dora before school starts." She said as she helped him reshelf the books he had in his hands. She had noticed he seemed a bit more happier now than he had been before. She just hoped that happiness stayed in his life.
"I am pretty sure dad will have us home in time for the letters to be sent out for the new school year." He responded as he picked his satchel up and placed it over his shoulders. His bluish green eyes glimmered with happiness. It didn't take a genius to see how much lighter he had felt compared to his previous life. Penelope grinned in return and then they both headed out for dinner at the great hall.

Arthur stared at the door that he somehow found himself in front of. It the was the door that had been in the forbidden corridor. Blinking rapidly he tried in vain to see if he was actually dreaming. Exams had started and students were feeling the stress of it all. Well he wasn't since he had revised his work and was confident that he passed most of his classes. History was the only one he was a bit leery about. Seeing as it was taught by a ghost and all. Defense was probably one of his stronger classes as well as charms and transfiguration.
He narrowed his eyes and ran the snake spur on his left boot over the floor. Making it scratch along the stone flooring loud enough to get whatever is behind the doors attention. There was a loud rumble before something large slammed against the door. He smirked as he summoned two pistols and repeated the process. It took roughly three minutes for the beast to break the door down. Once the dust settled Arthur had to bite back the urge to curse. There before him was a living breathing Cerberus from the greek legends. "Alright fido lets see if you can catch me." Whatever Albus was up to Arthur wanted no part in. But a Cerberus in the castle was just asking for children to get killed.
He fired off a shot making the magic graze the farthest head on the right. Before he turned on his heels and booked it. He was now officially glad that he spent all that time on the farm. It really helped his stamina by the bucket loads. A howl rang through the air before the mighty beast took off after him. "Thats it! Come and get me you big ugly brute!" He fired off two other shots as his spurs clanked with each stomp of his booted feet. He really missed the thrills when it came to putting himself in danger. Fire fights were good but nothing beat a good old chase to get the blood pumping.
He leaped up on the banister and used the skills he had began to hone while growing up in this life. Behind him the dog was still chasing him and getting all the angrier for it. He spun around and shot off a couple more rounds. A yelp and a tumble showed that he had got one of his paws and had shot one of the heads. So now there was only two left to deal with. He let the beast get close before he flipped over the beast and ran back the way they came from. He whistled to grab its attention hearing it give chase again. This was more fun than hunting down the O'Driscoll's. Or hunting down a nice rare beauty of a horse to tame.
The Cerberus got ever closer causing Arthur to turn once more and fire off more shots. Killing another head and nicking the ears of the remaining head. "Not so tough now are ya there feller." He crouched on the banister and casually tapped one of his pistols on his shoulders. The dog just growled and snapped its maw at him. "You aren't all that scary puppy. In fact I've seen things that would make you piss yourself in fear." Of course the beast couldn't exactly understand him. But that was okay he was itching for a kill since him and Hosea had gotten back into robbing. They had the freedom to relive the old days.
Sighing he raised his guns and fired off two more shots straight at the dogs head. It fell, never to get back up again. Putting his guns away he whistled a tune that would confuse so many people here. He was sure that no one had ever heard of the songs from his previous life. A life that gave him purpose and vibrancy to the dullness of everyday life. Being in the Van Der Lind Gang was like being part of a large family. Well it used to be but since everything went to shit it became more like a prison. He loved Dutch though still to this day and he would always love the man that helped raise him. But that time has long since been gone and passed. Aint no use looking back on it in longing when he and Hosea plan on rebuilding the gang.
Arthur put his guns away and jumped down off the banister. Before he summoned a hunting knife from his inventory. Playing Borderlands had given him ideas on how to mold his magic. As well as a few of the other games he liked. As long as his mind stayed open to the endless possibilities. He could freely shape his magic into whatever he wanted. He ran the blade over the beast and poked it a few times. Then began the slow process of skinning the beast. He heard from his account manager that Cerberus hides would net him a fortune. And that's exactly what he was going to do once he was out of school.
The process took almost three hours to complete but it was done and he placed the hide in his inventory. Before waving his hand and watched the dog vanish. He didn't care where it ended up nor what anyone would think. He wasn't changing who he was at his core to make everyone happy. He was Arthur Morgan, an Outlaw through and through.
Alright here's the chapter I promised you. Im not going to focus on the leaving feast or anything as they aren't important in this story. I gave y'all some action here so that he could show off a bit for y'all.
Arthur isn't exactly op but he's pretty damn close to it. He'll stumble and fall but he'll have others to pick him back up. Next chapter is the summer before he returns for his second year. Also the Horcrux in his scar is gone but Albus doesn't realize that. He won't for a long time.
Update on my health...turns out the pain is my Sciatica Nerve. I'm working on getting better but some days I'll be too tired to even type. I'm taking medicine and one of them has a tendency to make me sleepy. So please bear with me folks, your still getting chapters from me for this story. I'll also be working on another story thats been plaguing my mind lately.
Happy reading and please review if you want to :)
