Ok guys, Enjoy
His fists smashed against the magical barrier, he could feel the shock waves of the blows blast past his body and move behind him. Right fist then left again and again. Times like this he really missed Zatanna, there was no doubt in his mind that if she was here, she could bring this thing down in minutes. But she wasn't, none of them were. It was just him now and a world was in danger, he wouldn't just stand by and let it happen. If it was just him then so be it, he would just have to work a little harder.
That was why even though the cracking of the barrier intensified, he didn't stop. If anything he intensified his assault, he knew enough about magic to know that if he stopped it would just heal itself and he couldn't afford to let that happen, whatever this army was he couldn't allow it to continue. He may not know all the facts but he knows enough about insects to know that if they keep growing at the rates, he's been told about they'll just kill and eat everything in their way. They couldn't be allowed to do that.
The speed of his punches got faster until they were nothing more than a blur to the eyes of others, he knew that it was coming now and it just needed one final push. As his arms moved his eyes lit up and his heat vision was used. This barrier may be incredibly strong but there are very little things that can survive multiple blows from punches that can crack planets and a heat that can melt them. Yes the barrier is magic and that has weakened him more then he would like but even the smallest fraction of something that crack planets is still more than the most powerful nuke.
That this barrier wouldn't be able to survive against this for long, and he knew it. He stopped using his heat vision as the section of the barrier and took a step back, the part of the barrier he was attacking looks like a piece of bullet proof glass that was shot. A white blob in the middle and the further away from the centre you went the clearer cracks began to form. And even with the small half second he spent looking at his work, he could see that it was beginning to heal itself. Something that he couldn't let happen. He pulled his right arm back and twisted his body, with one final powerful blow "AAAAAAHHHHHHH" he roared as his fist broke through the barrier and hit the black stone door behind it.
All around him, he could see that the enter barrier just went down, it breaking apart like many of the different force fields that he's seen before when they go down. For a moment he just took a couple of breaths as he saw that it was down and not healing itself. Though it seemed that he wouldn't get too much time "AAAAAHHHHH!" the sound hit his ears. Turning around he saw that the whole army he just helped was running forward towards him.
And if he wasn't mistaken, now that they saw the barrier was down. Their... warrior spirt, at least that's what Diana had called it had intensified and they roared louder and ran faster. It seems that he wouldn't get a lot of time to rest as if he didn't get this door open then the momentum of the army would stop and even that could be damaging. Taking one last breath he moved forward, past where the barrier just was and he stopped in front of the large black door and just now he could notice brown vines or roots that hugged the door. The feeling he got from them was very similar to the one he got from the Night Elven magic users, what did Shandris call them again? Druids?
He shook his head, that didn't matter at the moment. He ran the last couple of steps and bent down, with a great amount of force he jammed his hands into the ground and heaved. It was heaver then he thought it would be but it wasn't enough. The wall around him began to crack and crumble around him. This thing was made of one solid black stone that wasn't really a stone, in truth he didn't know what it was and made a note to look into it later.
Slowly but surely the great door was lifted from the ground and he held it above his head. From there he rose into the air, taking the door with him. As he rose, he could get a better look at the invading host. Even though they moved forward, they were all looking up at him as he showed a feet of strength that they most likely have not seen before. Kal turned his body and faced city they were about to invade and he saw a large gathering of very large bugs that seemed to be the commanders of these incest's. It looked like an entire squad of dozens of them that seems that they were about to spread out and move throughout the army in order them about.
'Not on my watch' Kal thought to himself as he pulled back and then forward, throwing the large door as he did so. Needless to say that they didn't see it coming and weren't able to react in time. If he was on the ground he would feel the ground shake as the large door landed and crushed the commanders of the enemy army as it did so.
With that piece of work done, Kal went back to the ground just as he felt the army behind him. Reaching for his back he pulled out the Trident and started to run forward, just in time for the commander to meet him and the two ran forward together with their weapons drawn. The large army behind them and together, they stormed the ruined city.
The first enemies the army came across was a collection of five large stone statues. They seemed to be made of the same large black stone as the door he just destroyed, they reminded Kal way too much of the ancient Egyptian God Anubis, right down to the white robes they wore. It was very off putting but he put it past him. When the Statues saw them they started to move forward and raise their weapons. Kal quickly jumped forward and punched the first statue in the face and the stone crumbled when the body flew through the air and crashed against a wall.
Those these guys proved to be fast as the second quickly came at him. Kal only had time to lift up his left arm and use the bracelet to block the blow from the magical weapon. Though the blow was heavy Kal didn't move from the spot he was hovering and a small shock blanketed them. He was about to use his eyes to melt the stone statue but before he could, it fell to the ground as it's leg was attacked by multiple magical attacks from the army. When it did lower, he saw it get swarmed by a multitude of swords, axes and hammers. Knowing that the others had yet to be attacked, Kal turned in the air and moved towards the others.
The first one he reached found its emerald and no doubt magical eye impaled with the golden trident. Seemingly not feeling pain from the attack he moved with its large hammer, this time Kal moved hover the attack just approve the statues head, clasping his hands together he brought them down right on the centre of the head and the stone could not stand up to such strength. The body fell to the ground, the Trident which was still in its eye was pushed further until it priced out the other side.
He quickly flew down and grabbed the weapon, ready to fight the others but stopped when he saw that the army was dealing with them and he wasn't needed. He stayed in the air as he span his weapon, killing many of the flying bugs as they tried to kill him. The army was moving slowly but it was moving. It was another five minutes before they reached the milestone of this battle.
Kal went back to the ground and stood next to the Saurfang as they walked forward. They turned one of the many corners and they were met with the sight of the large black door Kal brought down. It cracked and broke apart when it landed and they could make out a large pink shell sticking out underneath it. Behind it all, he could make out a large door that seemed to head underground "we have the ground above" Saurfang stated as they marched forward, leading the army behind them "now we must venture below to confront their master"
The plan did not fill him with confidence. They would be fighting the insects in their own territory "how well can they tunnel?" he asked the leader.
"very" his response came quickly. The two stopped just shy of the entrance and looked at the hallways that burrowed downwards. It didn't look good. The army stopped behind them and Saurfang made his way back. He assumed that it would be to speak with the lieutenants who would be leading their own smaller forces. It seemed that the army started to lower their guard slightly and began to set up some small camps. Nothing too huge, just enough for a couple of medical tents and carry in some supplies.
Though Kal should be with the other leaders, he stayed where he was and starred at the tunnel in front of him. There was something wrong with it, he could feel a type of magical energy reaching out to him. The ring was protecting him from it but he could still feel it and he really didn't like it. Whatever this was, it was trying to get into his head. It was powerful, there was no denying that but it wasn't Darkseid powerful.
Though there was a large problem when it came to everything else about the situation. They would need to go down there in order to kill this Old God but they couldn't do it like this. Fighting bugs in their own hive was suicide, they could tunnel anywhere and so ambush them anywhere. Underneath them, above them, from the walls, everywhere and the worst part is that he wouldn't be able to see where they would come from, the sand seemed to be coated in some type of magic, so he wouldn't be able see through it and locate the enemies. He would need to find some way to counter that strategy.
That was when it hit him 'of course' he thought to himself, that would work perfectly. The tunnel was big enough that they would still be able to fit through them and march with a good speed. He floated slightly above the ground and tried to soke in as much solar power as he could, he took deep breaths, expanding his lungs, filling them with as much oxygen as possible. He would need a lot to do this.
After a solid thirty seconds of deep breathing, he exhaled. He needed to make sure his lips where tightly closed with only a small gap, like he was whistling. That is what created cold air, it was simple physics, the type of stuff that you would learn early in school. If pressurised gas expands through a small opening, it's temperature quickly drops. The tunnel's temperature began to quickly drop as very very very cold air started to sprout out of his mouth. The walls, ground and ceiling started to get coated in a small layer of frost, then ice, then the ice started to get harder and more layers started to get added.
It took five minutes, five minutes and he could make a strong guess that almost all of the underground tunnels much be covered in that layer. Kal has used this power main times and while not actively studying it has much as he should have done, he knew that doing it at this level of power for that many minutes. He knew that it would be enough to go for miles onwards.
It was clear that a crowd had gathered around him, all of which looking at him, some in wonder, some in fear and some in outright awe. Kal didn't think much of it though, he grew used to stares long ago "My lord" a voice said beside him and Kal turned to see one of the Alliance soldiers stand next to him, the woman was clearly trying to not look at the ice tunnel but she failed. She placed her hand on her chest and bowed her head "your presence has been requested in the command tent" she said.
"right" he knew he should have corrected her on the whole 'lord' thing but he could do that later "I'll head there now" he turned around and started to head back in the same direction Suarfang went, though he soon turned to face those who had gathered around him while he used his frost breath "all of you! No-one go in that tunnel until you are given the order" he yelled at them all and his voice carried a commanding presence that was difficult to ignore. They either nodded at him or took a step back.
Seeing that they would do as told, he walked forward towards the hastily put together command tent. He didn't know why it was called a tent, it was a table that all the leaders stood around with a handful of guards around them, it was more of a command table then a tent. The others all turned to look at him as he moved forward "what is that commotion at the entrance to the tunnel?" Leoric asked.
"I was freezing the walls, ground and ceiling of the tunnel. It should be much harder for the bugs to use tunnels to ambush us now" he told them and all of which seemed to like what they heard.
"Good" Windstryke nodded "the less time we stay in those tunnels the better" she commented.
"Why is that?" Kal asked as he crossed his arms.
The face of the Night Elf grew grim as she looked back at him "because even though the Old God is still locked within its prison, it is not powerless. It will reach out to us, it will call to us. The longer we stay down there, the longer we risk our minds no longer being our own" she warned all present.
"Well then" the Dwarf grunt as he readied is weapon "all tha more reason to get this dun quickly. WE MARCH!" he yelled as he started to head forward towards the tunnel. Many of the soldiers following after him as he did so. The other captains and lieutenant waiting by the table as they did so.
"The Dwarfs where always going to go first" Suarfang commented as he stood up and grabbed his own weapon "they know the underground better then any of us, they shall lead" he added before turning to the other "you all know what needs to be down" then turned to face Kal "you shall stay by my side during this march, we will be in the front with the Dwarfs" he ordered before he turned and started to make his way towards the tunnel.
Kal nodded, knowing that he didn't really have the right to refuse the order. He did come here wanting to join the fight after all, it wouldn't be fair for him to say no to the orders that the chosen commander has given him. Besides, he wouldn't have had it any other way. He would be at the front, helping as best he could, he could hardly think of a better place for him to be.
"What about the others?" Kal asked as the two walked back up the stairs and towards the tunnel entrance.
"They have their orders and missions" Saurfang said as he glanced at the smaller alien who walked beside them "I trust them to complete them, they must. Are mission will be the most dire, as we along with the bulk of are force heads right to the heart of the nest and destroy their master" the two stopped just in front of the new ice tunnel "this is good, it will make traveling through them must safer" the Dwarfs certainly agreed as a large host of them marched forward into the tunnel, led by August Foehammer.
The large Orc gave one last look at Kal before he nodded and the two marched forward into the tunnel. Kal himself drew his trident and readied himself for whatever fighting that would take place. The two walked behind a large gathering of Dwarfs, marching around and behind him was a large gathering of fighters from all the races present.
Thankfully it seemed that the now ice floors didn't cause trouble as they marched on the Slippy surface. They walked for only a few minutes before the sounds of fighting reached them Kal instantly moved forward ready to join in. It seemed he wasn't alone in thinking that as the others all joined in behind him. They turned a corner and could see many of the Dwarfs were fighting the armoured bugs. The others were quick to react, the large number of forces quickly ran forward and many roared with a battle fury. Kal reached the front lines first of course and quickly impaled one blur armoured bug as he did so, he blindly swung his left fist sideways, swatting it aside like it's nothing and it splashed against the wall in a display of blood and guts.
The force marched for twenty minutes, the Dwarfs despite being in front of force and thus the first to encounter the enemy, remained steadfast in their plan and led the army down the tunnels. It was something Kal was both surprised by but also respected, he doubted he was the only one either. He barely knew anything about the other races but based on what he knew about expression he would say that the Trolls, Orcs and all the other races thought the same.
That might be why he and so many others insisted on walking right behind them. They'll still technically be leading them but they'd have a lot of protection. The bugs they encountered never seemed to end or lesser no matter how deep they went. The variety may have changed a handful of times, they met an insect that looked far too much like a woman for his liking but that didn't stop them from dealing with her. A large armoured scorpion that seemed to have its own little nest to watch it, they lost some of their own in that fight due to the sheer numbers they were fighting against.
But the most dire thing to happen since they're march is that the ice floors, walls and ceiling was starting to melt away now. Since Clark was well aware of how powerful, how far it could travel and how long it could last. It was leading him to believe that something was actively trying to melt it away, not a good sign. Though it wasn't unexpected, he could practically smell the magic in the air.
Once they cleared another tunnel, one that was full of the same Anubis statues as outside. These fell just like the others, the army lost some of their own in the effort. Kal not being able to blitz them due to them being underground, once that was done through and the wounded were taken back up to the surface. The front line stopped moving.
The sandy, insect like tunnel ended and in front of them was a stone wall with a large hole in it. He didn't know if the bugs broke in or the something broke out, all he did know was that they needed to get in there. One of the Dwarfs stepped forward through the hole and looked around on the inside, there was a silence in front of them, at least as quite as it could be with what Kal could say was still a couple hundred in full plate armour marching behind them. The Dwarf turned around and looked at them all before giving them a nod "Aye, this be the temp..." Kal moved.
Kal ran forward, he saw the large blade coming down on the Dwarfs head before anyone else and none would be able to save scout. Expect for him, to everyone else Kal just appeared to standing by the Dwarf with his golden weapon drawn. To him though, the Dwarf was the only one standing in the newly discovered area and a large metal blade was coming down on towards his head. What was swinging it, he didn't know but he would find out.
Kal stood next to the Dwarf with his Trident in his hand, it's base was imbedded into the ground while the prongs rose into the air, in between them was the large sword. Kal quickly turned his head and saw a large colourful being that was aiming to Kill the Dwarf. Not wanting to give whatever this was a chance to make another move, Kal quickly left the Trident there and moved. His flew upwards and his fist impacted the large chest and he flew across the air.
As he did fly away due to the force of the attack, Kal had a moment to look at the room they found themselves in. It was a large hall that had a set of stairs that led to what he could only assume was maybe some type of stage or alter, it didn't matter either way because nothing would be in here. In the centre was what really caused him to be confused, for a moment his mind flashed back to the Justice League as what seemed to be a large holographic image of the world hung in the middle of the room and past that was another being, almost the exact same as the one he just punched "BROTHER!" it yelled in a voice all could understand "YOU SHALL NOT STOP US!" he continued as the rest of the host ran into the hall with their weapons ready "THE MASTERS WILL BE DONE!"
Seeing as the entire army was rushing towards the other of the two, Kal turned his attention to the one he punched which to his surprise. Started to pick himself back up, when he looked closer he could see the large wound that he caused healing itself "you shall not stop us" it growled and hefted its sword up and pointed it at him "the masters will shall not be denied" with that he moved. Though not fast enough to matter, the sword was heading towards him but it was too slow, the large figure blinked and Kal was no longer in front of him but next to him. He didn't even blink before a fist impacted his face and smashed into the ground, all he could do was turn on his back before Kal landed heavily on his chest feet first and looked at him with red eyes, he didn't see the red beams that shot out of his eyes. He only felt the searing pain on his face before there was nothing.
Kal looked up in time to see the others having some trouble dealing with the other but at the same time, this other one started to wobble and sway in place as it looked away from the army and towards him "BROTHER! NNNNNOOOOO" he screamed before he fell to the ground, it looked like his life force was being drained from him. He collapsed onto all fours and before Kal could try and find out what was happening to it.
He paused mid step, his head hurt, a dull ache came from the back of his head "Long have you fought" a very old and very ancient voice echoed in his mind "You have battled for those who have suffered the pain of injustice. You still can, with us. You can achieve true power. You can save them all" with his eyes closed, he didn't notice Shandris walk towards him.
"Kal" she said, shaking his shoulder.
He quickly turned to face her and based on her hardened expression, she knew what was happening "find your will" she said as she turned to face the dead body that the others finished "we're getting close to the heart now. The Old God is reaching out to us, trying to turn us against each other, against ourselves" he looked in the same direction she was and much to his horror, many others where in the same state as him. Some struggling to stand up, some looking around like they saw a ghost and others were arguing with each other "we won't last much longer" she warned.
"Then we can't wait" Kal said as he quickly moved over to his Trident and plucked it out of the ground. When he started to walk towards this hall exit and further down into this temple. The arguing got louder and louder, he would need to do something about this before they spiralled "ENOUGH!" he shouted, his voice carrying the sound throughout the entire hall and he hovered in the air, looking down on all present. They all stopped shouting, looking weary or scared and they looked up towards him "remember your training! The feelings you feel in this temple are not your own! It is the work of the vail master that you fight against! Do not give in to fear or doubt or hatred!" as he spoke he could see many of the forces bellow him looking at each other more certainly, some nodding, some mumbling to each other.
In the air he turned to face the small door that they would need to leave through and saw that it was too small. His eyes lit up and the beams smacked against them, blowing them up wider as to allow more through "this is your world! You not fighting to save yourselves from tyranny but life itself! You are fighting for your right to live, for your homes, your loved ones! Remember them! Remember what you are fighting for!" he moved forward and lowered to the ground, the forces walking backwards to make room for him, beings of all races looking at him as he walked towards the exit "Who's with me!" he finished as he raised the Trident over his head, it's golden light shining for all to see.
He didn't wait to see if they would follow but he didn't need too. There wasn't a loud battle cry or roar, instead they simply looked to each other and nodded as the warriors followed him. It was a silent promise to all that they would see this through to the end "that was good" Saurfang said as he joined him in the front "even now the Old God claws at are minds" he frowned as he reached up and massaged his forehead "we are running out of time"
"Then we must hurry" Kal said as he started to jog forward, the others matching his speed and running forward. There were many more insects stood in their way but they did not last against them. As they moved, the voice of the Old God continued to plague all present, including himself but he pushed past it. Yes, this voice was a pain that was all it was, a pain. This was not complete control and it was something he could just ignore if he had too.
For another twenty minutes they marched through the dark stone hallways, Kal leading the charge with Saurfang and not stopping for a moment, cutting down all that got in there way. As they walked, Kal made sure to commit everything he sees to memory. Not just the architecture but everything else, he could see many marking that seemed like a type of language. He won't be able to study them now but he could do that later, not to mention the many murals that that covered the roof.
When the group turned one final corner, they were met with a sight he did not expect. There were three different humanoid individuals. He could see two Night Elves and one very small man, all of which were chained to the ground "what is this?" he asked to no-one in particular.
"I do not know" Saurfang said as they walked forward, though they did it cautiously. As they neared, Kal could get a better look at what these people where, he knew they weren't people, not normal people at least. There was something else about them. One of the Night Elves, a woman with green hair looked up to see the host approaching "I know not how you have managed to make it this far, but be warned. The Avatar of C'thun is awaiting in the chamber just beyond us"
"Who are you?" Saurfang as he walked forward, Kal following closely behind him and the army slowly surrounding the three figures. Thankfully not going forwards.
The woman looked back down while both men seemed to be in a type of trance "it's... it's been so long, my mind has been clouded beyond my own repair" she said in but a whisper.
Kal knew exactly what to do, he stepped forward and with his left hand. Freed the Lasso of Truth from his waist. The rope lit up with a Golden light and with a toss, he threw the loop around the woman "the Lasso of Hestia shall reveal the truth" he said as he tugged and tightened the loop around her "no falsehoods shall exist in those bound by her light, I ask you. Who are you?" he said as all looked to him.
The woman looked back up to him quickly, like she just regained her vigore. Her eyes where wide and her mouth opened to take in deep breaths "I..." she started before stopping, the Lasso glowed brighter as a thoughtful expression came onto her face "I..." her eyes widened more before she spoke "I am Merithra, of the green dragonflight. Daughter of Yesra, she of the great dream!" she almost yelled that last part before falling onto her knees, taking deep breaths, her eyes wide as she looked down the Lasso "what is this?"
Before Kal could answer, Shandris came forward and kneeled next to the woman. Without a word she pulled out a small dagger and tried to break the chains that bound her, though it wouldn't as the second the blade met the metal, it snapped in two "what are you three doing here?" he asked her again, noticing how the light from the Lasso shined on them and their confused faces seemed to grow more certain.
The woman, Merithra, looked up to him with hopeful eyes "we three where here when the gates of the blasted temple were put up. Anachronos and our cousins needed more time to get the barrier up, so we three stayed behind in order to buy them time. For decades the hope that they did was what kept us going" she explained, seeing how these three may not be a threat. He eyed the other two unsure about them "would you like to join us in attacking C'thum?" he asked knowing it would be a good way to ensure loyalty.
A dry chuckle escaped her mouth "nothing would bring me more pleasure, but I cannot. None of us could, we've been trapped here too long. It will take years for us to be freed from the Old Gods corruption and are minds to clear" she looked down to close her eyes "it would be best to leave us here or allow us to leave. We would only be a hinder in our current state" she finished.
Seeing as how she couldn't lie and now that they knew the truth, Kal knew they weren't the threat. With a small shake of his wrist, the Lasso was freed and he placed it back on his waist. Walking forward, he raised his hand, the point of the Trident aimed downwards and with a slam, the chains that held the dragon down, the same one that just shattered Shandris's knife complete broke apart. It was a strong metal, no doubt about that but it wouldn't match up to the Celestial Gold of the Trident of Atlan or the strength of the Superman behind it.
When the black chain fell, the rest of them shattered and all three fell to the ground, looking like they just won a marathon and needed for air then blood "if I where you I would wait here until we're done, there will no doubt be many of those insects left over that we miss" with that said he turned to face Saurfang and the older Orc gave him a nod, both of them knowing that the true evil was very close now.
Once again with the two in front, the army made it's way towards the next chamber. Their pace was notably slow, everyone holding a much more guarded stance. Kal stopped just before the final turn and singled for all others to stop behind him, which they did. He knew that he didn't have much of a rank here but it would seem that his displays of power where enough to get others to listen "let me check" he said loud enough for others to listen.
He walked the extra step forward until he was just before the turn. He pressed his body up against the wall and poked his head around the corner. His eyes widened and he moved his head right back, just in time to avoid the light green beam of light that only just missed his head. Based on the way it impacted the wall opposite him, it was magical and powerful.
'That things quick' he thought to himself with a mental shrug. But he saw it, the Old God seemed to have the form of a very large eye that was trapped centre of the chamber, that was both good and bad. Not a lot of means of attack he could see, most likely just beams from that one eye, bad news was that he just knew that if someone looked right into it, their minds wouldn't be able to hold up against it. He quickly turned to look at those behind them "we'll only get one chance at this" he told them "I can hold off the initial attack but not for long, while it's focused on me, it will just your chance to run past me and rush it"
Saurfang looked at him up and down, clearly not liking the idea but knowing there was not much he could do. With a huff, he nodded and readied his weapon "You could die doing this" Leoric said as he stepped forward, his own weapon ready "if we make it through this! THE FIRST ROUND OF ALE IS ON ME!" he yelled that last part getting the host to cheer "MAY THE LIGHT BE WITH US ALL!"
Knowing that he couldn't wait too long or the moral of the host would drop. Kal, this time lunged into the middle of the entrance path that led to the chamber. Much like before, it was really quick. This attack rivalled his own heat vision attack, he barely had time to raise his arms in an 'X' form. Much like how he saw Diana do this a thousand times before. The same green attack came for him and hit the bracelets dead centre and they worked their magic. His feet dug into the stone floor as he held his ground, he turned his head to see the army all look at him in amazement "GO!" he shouted with his powerful voice, it seemed to hit all of their ears.
"AAAAAAHHHHH!" Suarfang yelled as he charged forward, everyone else following behind him. With the great eye locked on him, it couldn't attack the forces that rushed towards it. It was only when the first of the arrow hit the great orb did the attack on him stopped and it turned its attention towards the others.
Kal stagger for a moment as he looked down and saw the bracelets absorb the power from the attack, seeing them go back to their normal golden colour. He pulled the Trident free and ran forward into the fight, it seems that it wouldn't be so simple as to attack a large eye. Many different tentacles sprouted up from the ground and started attacking the host. Somewhere full of spikes and others had eyes on them. But he couldn't worry about them, he would have to hope that the host could handle them, Kal focused on the prize.
He flew up in the air and fired his heat vision at the great eye and based on the way, it immediately turned to look at him. It hurt, not wanting to spend up too much of his power so soon, he stopped the attack and moved forward with his Trident. The golden weapon slashed the eye, drawing some type of black substance that he would guess was blood. Coming to the ground, two tentacles immediately came up around him, the first with spikes tried to slam down on him but Kal span out of the way, spinning the weapon with him and slicing it in half, he stopped moving only to have a smaller eye in his face. Reaching out with his free hand, he imbedded his own flesh into the eye and ripped it from the tactical.
Being distracted from the central Avatar, it gave it a chance to attack him without defence and it took it. The green beam came for him again and he didn't have time to defend himself, he would have been in trouble if it wasn't for the golden shield that appeared next to him. Kal turned quickly and threw the Trident right at the centre of the eye causing the attack to stop. He turned his head to see Leoric dropping the shield he placed in front of him, Kal gave the Paladin a nod which was returned. Only for his eyes to widen as he didn't see the attack coming right behind him.
Kal's eyes glowed and the beams shot out, incinerating the tentacle that was about the crush the one who just saved him. With the favour immediately returned, Kal flew up and grabbed his Trident which was about to be pulled into the eyes itself, retching it free. Drawing more blood.
But it wasn't going completely in their favour, he could see many of the host had fallen, their bodies on the ground unmoving and he could even see some of their own fighting each other, some others running away "STAND YOUR GROUND. DO NOT GIVE IN TO FEAR. FIGHT!" Saurfang shouted as he destroyed another eye.
Knowing that the others wouldn't last much longer, he had to act soon "Shandris!" he shouted landing on the ground taking the brunt of the eyes attacks "I need a distraction!" he said hoping that wherever she was, she would hear him. Based on the bright light that came from the other side of the great eye, the same colour as the moon and the hissing that came from the eye, she did hear him.
The eye quickly turned away from him and focused on something else, which gave him the chance he needed. He flew in the air and charged forward, not at the eye itself but underneath it. This thing was solid so it must he connected to something, he flew right towards the base of the eye, towards the dark ring of shadow that was around it. He jammed the Trident right at the base of the eye and lifted it up. Using more strength than he thought he would have to, the eye started to lift itself up off the ground. The great eye turned to him but he was too busy looking down and lifting in order to pay attention to it.
Without even looking, he used his left had to let go of the Trident and used the bracelet to block the eye beam that came for him. He gritted his teeth as he both tried to disconnect the eye from whatever it was connected to and hold off its primary attack. His legs almost gave off, the darkness he was standing on was doing something to him, he could feel the magic reaching for him.
He wouldn't be able to do this for much longer "RRRRRRROOOOOAAAARRRRR" the sound a power animal roaring rang out around the chamber. The beam coming at him stopped and Kal's eyes glanced up just in time to see a large green dragon hover above the eye and breath a type of green flame onto it. Knowing that he didn't have time look on in wonder, he reached back down with his other hand and gave the Trident one more final pull.
The eye was pulled from the ground and he could see the disembodied veins and gore that connected it to whatever was underneath. Knowing that it was about to fall down and not wanting to see any magical or natural healing that could cause it to reconnect. He flew up and kicked the disembodied eye, causing it to fly across the room and smash into the wall, breaking as it did so.
When it did, smashing into a pile of blood and guts. All the smaller tentacles around the room died as well. Kal looked around and saw that a large blue dragon held one in its mouth and it just disintegrated and falling to the floor "hold you're ground!" a large gruff voice echoed out through the chamber. Kal turned and again he found himself surprised to see that there was another large dragon standing strongly just in front of the main entrance as it was clearly too small in here for them to fly, though unlike the others, this one was a bright crimson red "this is not over yet" he spoke.
Is warning seemed to reverberate with everyone in the chamber and they started to look around, readying their weapons and looking around. Then it happened, the ground started to shake and the spot Kal just stood when he pulled the eye out of the ground, the shadows started spill forth, covering more of the ground. Seeing what was about to happen, Kal moved just in the nick of time and dodged the large Column of black sludge that fired up and hit the ceiling. He landed back on the ground next to Saurfang and Shandris, both of which looked on in horror with him.
From beneath the ground sprouted forth what could only be called more horror, a circle of white curved spikes shot out from the ground and started to rise up, it wasn't until they started clicking and moving that realized that these things where teeth, and the rose higher and higher and more flesh began to show. The great eye was now replaced with a large bulbous...thing that was full of tentacles, eyes and mouths "I CANNOT BE STOPPED" a deep familiar voice echoed within his head and based on the way the others acted, they felt the same way.
But Saurfang, provingever the fighter. Charged forward with his weapon raised but before the steel could strike the target, a barrier very similar to the one that was around the wall outside came up and protected it. The shockwave that came from the strike knocked the supreme commander on his back "It's no use!" Leoric said as he used the light to heal those around him.
"We cannot retreat!" the blue dragon said as he clamped his jaws down on a tentacle that sprouted out from the ground, but these ones were new, they were bigger and while Kal sped out the room, helping where he could, saving many lives, many more where lost "we need to get past the barrier!" it shouted again as its legs started to get tangled in strong black tentacles.
"How can we!?" Shandris shouted as he fired another arrow, hitting dead centre of one of the many eyes around them.
They needed an idea, they needed a plan, a habit that Kal got into a long time ago was that when he would be short on time, he would use his speed in order to slow time down around him, allowing him time to think about what to do, being completely honest he was still shocked by the fact's dragons where here. It was an amazing thing but he pushed that back for now. Despite his shock at them, they were right. They couldn't get past that barrier, well he could but he didn't have the time or a way to defend himself from this thing before he could bring it down.
No, brute force wouldn't work here. That had to be another way, when he looked around, he found that way. On the far side of the chamber, he could see a tentacle sprout out from the ground, right underneath a Troll. But this one was different from the others, this one split open down the middle, like it was a long open mouth and that was when he realized that it was one and it was about to swallow that Troll whole.
He ran forward with the intent to save the unsuspecting fighter, the idea came to him. If he couldn't fight C'thum from the outside, he would need to do from inside. He placed the Trident on his back and moved over the Troll, he pushed him out of the way and allowed time to return to normal speed. Kal found himself trapped by both sides of the tentacle as they wrapped around him. He couldn't see anything but he could feel the rumbling around him and he could feel himself getting squeezed from both sides. He didn't know how long this would last but thankfully it wouldn't be much longer as Kal found himself freed from his confinement and thrown in the small, foul smelling and definitely organic chamber. The walls moved back and forth as if they were breathing, they were dripping with liquid that seemed like saliva, looking down he could see that he was stood in some water that stung at his feet.
When a great rumbling came around him, Kal brought the Trident from his back and lifted it up into the air, its golden glow lit up the room he was in, it was then that he realized that he must have been in the Old Gods digestive system. A least some part of it before he could think about what to do next, he was forced to move as he found himself attacked by to massive tentacles, these ones where much bigger than any he's seen before. He flew into the air and started to attack them. Striking with his Trident, fists and eyes. But every time he destroyed one, others came forth.
He kept this up for a handful of minutes before he was starting to tire and knew that if he didn't get out of here soon, he would be overwhelmed. That was when he got an idea that would work. He needed to deal enough damage to kill this thing now before it was too late and he knew what would get the job done. Slashing away one final tentacle, he placed the Trident back on his back and readied himself, dodging the counter attacks as he did so.
He moved as close to the wall as he could and brought his arms outwards, bringing his will forth and too the bracelets, just like Diana had shown him. He brought them together as fast as he could and they smashed together.
To those back up top who continued to fight for their lives, the Old Gods attacks stopped and the central node started to shake from side to side as if it was trying to escape from something. Then it started to grow even larger, many started to back up expecting some new horror to come forth but it was different than that, it was like it was inflating. Then its skin started to crack and bright light broke through them and with a final scream that came from C'thum, it completely broke apart in the middle and an explosion rang out, completely destroying the Avatar of the Old God.
From the explosion on light came forth a figure, it flew out of the body with the blast and landed on the ground with a heavy thunk, one knee bent and his hand jamming a golden Trident into the ground. Shandris walked forward, her eyes wide at the sight. Kal was on one knee, his eyes down, he was covered in the dark substance that could only be the old god's blood. There where small sparks of lightening coming off of the Trident and bracelets, he slowly picked himself up and everyone starred at his glowing red eyes. It wasn't the first time Shandris thought that this man may have been telling the truth about where he came from but this was the first time she started to fear what that might mean "Is it over?" the voice of Saurfang said as he moved forward towards her.
She didn't answer for a moment and someone else beat her too it "yes, it is" the large red dragon said as it's large scaley form walked towards the leader of the host "though the Old God itself yet live, its mind was present in the form we just destroyed. It will take countless years for it to awaken from its new slumber" it's voice travelled throughout the chamber and all present started to realize that the battle was now over.
"If that's the case" Kal started as he looked closer at his weapon as the black blood sizzled and melted off of the golden Trident "then we should all leave, I need a shower"
It was a somber after once the sun started to set over the dessert, all of the remaining host stood in silence as they looked at a wooden panel that the leaders of the army stood, many of those that stood held torches, others held banners. But what they all had in common was the calmness on their faces and the mugs in their hands
This was someone Kal has seen before, he stood off to the side with Shandris next to him and the three dragons slightly behind them, all of which were in their true dragon forms. It was an incredible thing to witness "we have lost many within this accursed desert" Saurfang started "many lives I have been lost to the sands of Silithus. But you can rest easy, for it is because of the work of all those still here that their sacrifices have not been in vain, and the dark master of this evil has been vanquished" he reached up into the air and raised his mug "HAIL THE VICTORIES DEAD!" he roared.
"HAIL!" the shout from the army echoed all around Kal as everyone present raised their own mug and shouted out the same before of course razing it to their lips and drinking. Kal not wanting to be disrespectful to all those not only present but those who died as well, not a small sniff of the drink before taking a swig of... he guessed a type of ale.
He used his tongue to spread it around his mouth for a moment, taking in the taste. With a shrug he drank some more, this was nicer than he expected "word of this will spread" Shandris spoke as he took some of her own drink, around them. Many started to speak amongst themselves, and Kal would say he was starting to hear the starting's of a celebration "I don't know if you wanted to live a more secret life but that won't be possible now"
He let out a dry chuckle at her words "I knew that the second I agreed to help you, it's ok. I spent a lot of time hiding in my old world, I have no intention of doing so here" he said.
"That is good to hear" a voice rumbled behind them and the two turned to see the red dragon walk towards them. When it got closer, his draconic form almost seemed to melt away and in his place was a night elf that had a type of grey skin and dark hair. He placed a hand on his chest and lowered his head in a bow "I cannot express my gratitude enough for what you and all those here have done"
"We have missed much in our time beneath the sands" the green dragon Merithra, still in her dragon form spoke "even now, I can feel the turmoil within the dream. I must return to the nest" she said before turning her attention back to Kal "rest assured, I shall tell my flight that should you be spotted. You shall be counted as a friend" with that said she turned to her fellow dragons "I shall be in touch my friends" and she spread her wings and then took off into the air, her large wings spreading sand as she did so.
The others all watched her leave and soon the blue dragon started to speak as well "she is not the only one who's flight as changed" he said, though his voice was much more gruff "now that we are free from that temple, I can sense the Nexus to the north. It has grown, I have never seen it possess such power before, I need to know what has happened in my absence" his large head lowered and neared Kal "you have my thanks mortal" he said before he too flew away, in a different direction to Merithra.
"I suspected that they wouldn't have stayed for long" the red dragon said "it has been over a thousand years since we stepped from that terrible place. Those green skinned beings are new to me, I suspect it would take some time before I am fully updated on all I have missed"
"You should leave as well" Shandris said before any other could. Both the dragon and Kal looked at her in surprise, at her eagerness to see him gone.
"Should I?" the dragon asked with a head tilt "I had hoped to stay for a while longer and speak to the others" he tried to explain.
"You can't" she said back just as hastily before she lowered her head and sighed "much has happened in your absence and the red dragonflight has suffered greatly, the Life Binder more than any other" Kal didn't know what she was talking about but based on the horror that came to the dragons face, it wasn't good "even to this day, I believe she has not fully healed for the hardships that came to her. Your flight needs you far more than we do"
"If what you say is true then I must not delay" the dragon said as he stepped back and returned to his large dragon form "I want you to know that should you need aid, then know that you may call on the aid of Caelestrasz to aid you" with that final piece said, his large wings started to beat, and he took off into the air.
"What was that about?" Kal asked as they both watched him fly away.
She looked at him shocked for a moment before she looked away and sighed "sorry, I forgot that you know very little of this world's history"
Kal hummed to himself as he looked back over the now celebrating crowd and took another drink from his mug, him enjoying the taste quite a bit "I know very little of anything about this world" he corrected.
"Well then" Shandris said as she raised her mug to him "here's to a thorough history lesson"
'As good a reason as any' Kal thought to himself as he raised his own and tapped it against hers.
Ok everyone, we'll call it there. I wasn't sure where to end this but here felt like the right time, a part of me wanted to do a cliff hanger of them waking up the next day naked in each other's arms but it felt a little disrespectful to the characters. Anyway, let me know what you think of the first raid, I know I missed some parts but you have to understand just how much easier Superman is going to make things for these guys.
Anyway, be sure to let me know what you think in the Reviews down below (I read them all, I promise) oh and what do you think should come next for Kal. Most popular vote decides where the story goes.
Option 1 would be Stormwind where he'll meet the leader of the Alliance (Or his son) I don't know if I'll do the Onyxia stuff or have it already done.
Option 2 is Orgrimmar where he can meet the members of the horde and hopefully use his Superman charisma to help smooth relations between the horde and the Night Elfs, don't forget he has his fortress of solitude with him so he has access to some very advanced tech.
Option 3 is back to Teldrassil to spent some time with the Night Elfs and get a better understand for how the world really works and its history as the Kaldorei will know the most.
Let me know how you want to story to go.
