Chapter 17
The Rise of Glee Club, The Fall of Sue Sylvester
Rachel and Kurt walked into the choir room and found everyone seated. Rachel said, "Everyone, I'm still basking in the glow of our first new trophy."
Claire said, "It's an invitationals trophy, but it's still better than nothing."
Spencer smirked.
Kurt said, "Sectionals are five weeks away, but I guarantee Vocal Adrenaline and the Warblers are doing everything in their power to regain their former glory. We have a secret weapon."
Mercedes walked in. Claire said, "MJ!"
Artie called, "Diva!"
Mercedes said, "Yes, I'm here to mentor you. Who wants me to mentor you?"
Mason and Madison said, "Me!"
Jane said, "Me!"
In the teacher's lounge, Rachel got herself some coffee. Anne Marie walked in exasperated.
"Anne Marie, what happened? You look exhausted."
"Well, there was an incident outside on my way here. There was a little girl who got stuck down a log. We managed to get her out, but we couldn't save her shoes."
"Wow. Well, thank you for that image."
Meanwhile, Brittany and Santana were discussing Santana's grandmother coming to their wedding.
Santana said, "Why do you think it's okay to have the one person would would rather see me dead than be with another woman?"
"You came out to your abuela three years ago."
"Nothing has changed. It's not just gay people she has a problem with. It took her 50 years to talk to a colored person, and it was her mailman. She accused him of stealing her Christmas cards."
"Did he?"
"No."
In the auditorium, Santana was singing "What's it all about, Alfie?"
In an episode of Sabrina, Salem said, "This song always makes me cry."
As soon as Brittany held Santana's hand, Alma stood up.
Santana said, "Hi, Abuela."
"Hi,"
"You look well."
"So, you two know each other?"
Brittany said, "Santana is my fiancee."
Santana said, "I love Britt."
"I love you, Santana, but this…"
Brittany said, "Please, just come to the wedding."
"No."
"Fine. I'm glad you're not coming."
"You let her talk to me like this?"
Santana said, "This is what real love looks like. Britt is my family."
Alma left and the others showed up. They say that they'll come to the wedding.
Meanwhile, Beiste returned full transformed into a man. Shannon was now Sheldon. He seemed to be comfortable with this change. Will and Sam were still getting used to it, but Beiste had made his choice.
Sue said, "Beiste! Welcome back. You know, for a minute there, I almost mistook you for James Garner."
Sam said, "It is so good to have you back, Coach."
Rachel's dads were selling the house, and Rachel was having a hard time to come to terms with it, but that was just a natural response. So the others decided to throw a farewell party. Mercedes and Roderick were singing Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass."
Rachel and Ian walked into her room.
Ian said, "Wow. Rachel Berry's childhood home."
"Yeah. You know, I'm way too sentimental. It's gonna be hard to part with all this."
"Well, then don't. I mean, take it all with you. You don't just let go of the memories."
"We had a lot of great ones. A lot of great times together. Did you ever regret it?"
"Hell no. My only regret was that I never got to dance with you."
"Well, there's still time."
In the basement, everyone was dressing up, dancing and having a great time.
Outside, Anne Marie said, "I thought we sounded pretty good."
Claire said, "We were incredible. We haven't sounded that great since our first duet together. What was it again?"
"I don't know. I'm kind of blanking. I'm kidding. It was Constant Craving. The entire time we were singing, I just wanted to put down that guitar and confess my undying sister love for you."
"Why didn't you?"
"Well, for one, you kind of beat me to it. Remember that guy you used to like?"
"Aaron?"
"Aaron Holden, that's it. What the hell happened to him?"
"I have no idea."
In the gym locker, Beiste got a surprise visitor. "As I live and breathe."
"Unique!" He hugged her.
"I had to hear about your trans gossip from Will Schuster."
I just didn't know what to say to people. I did this because I needed to follow what I feel inside. And I finally feel like myself, normal."
"You're special, and not because of some surgery, but because you're brave enough to go for what you want."
"I just want to be one of the guys, does that make sense? People either fawn over me or they hate me because they don't understand me."
"Did it hurt?"
"Are you kidding? Like a sack of hammers on my chest."
"Did you have any regrets?"
"Not for a second. It's the best thing that's ever happened to me."
"You're not alone."
The next day, in Blaine and Dave's apartment, Blaine walked.
Dave said, "Okay, what? You're hardly said two words."
"Sorry. Kurt and I were together that night at Rachel's party."
"Why would I be upset about that? You guys are always doing duets together."
Blaine looked somber.
"Oh, man. I knew it. You still love him. You never stopped."
"I'm sorry, Dave. I didn't mean to…"
"It's okay. I know. Hey, no hard feelings. Craig slipped his number into my pocket. It's okay. Go. Just don't sing it. Say it."
They hug and Blaine left.
In the auditorium, Unique and other transgenders were singing "Lord Knows Where I've Been." Quite a surprise to Beiste. Making him feel like he and Unique weren't the only ones. Rachel and Unique hugged. Will and Beiste hugged.
The next day, Will walked in the choir room with Rachel and Kurt. "I am so proud of what you guys did in here. You too, Claire. You've come such a long way."
Rachel said, "Well, coming up with these weekly assignments is harder than we thought."
Claire said, "That's why I always went off book with Treble Base."
Will said, "Well, this is where I belong. But you guys have to come up with all the major decisions."
Brittany and Santana walked into a barn with their moms and Artie. He asked why they were in it. Brittany's mom told the story of how Brittany was born and that that barn was where she was born.
Maribel said, "That is insane."
Later on, the whole place was getting set up.
Kurt said, "Looking good, guys. Hey, when you're gone, would you mind giving Tina a hand?"
Tina was pulling a hay bale. "Why am I the one doing this?"
"You volunteered to help, Tina."
"I didn't think I'd be stuck doing manual labor."
"I know how can officiate."
Brittany asked, "Who?"
"My dad."
"Your... Yes."
At a building, Rachel, Mercedes and Tina were there with Claire to check out Brittany and Santana's dress choices.
Santana said, "Here's the game plan. Brittany and I are gonna show you our dresses one at a time. Brittany said, "And we better not see each other, Santana, because I don't want endless years of bad luck."
Hey, even Brittany has her moments.
Claire said, "Guys, I don't know if I should be here for this. It's always bad luck for the grooms to see the brides in their dresses before the wedding. And I'm not even the one getting married."
Rachel said, "Claire, it's perfectly natural to freak out. And you're totally allowed to believe. It's a tradition."
Tina said, "Yeah, you gotta stick with tradition."
Claire said, "You must think I'm overwhelmed."
Anne Marie showed up and said, "I think you're very brave."
Mercedes was wearing a tiara.
Brittany seemed to find the perfect dress.
Mercedes said, "Brittany, I think this one is it."
Tina said, "Absolutely stunning."
Rachel said, "I think so, too."
Santana said, "Wow, Brittany. That is so beautiful."
Brittany said, "Oh, my God! What are you doing?" She covers her eyes.
Tina said, "Quick! Toss some salt over your shoulder!"
Claire took off her glasses and said, "Tina, that won't help!"
Anne Marie said, "Jesus, Santana! Are you trying to burst into flames?"
Rachel said, "So, we're getting some new dresses."
Claire said, "Good idea. One pack will last her a lifetime."
"Just go back inside. Go change."
The next day, in the choir room, Claire and Anne Marie walked in.
Anne said, "I'm so glad that's over with. I don't think I can even look at another dress or the color white again."
Claire said, "Good thing it's after Labor Day anyway." She starts to sputter and spit went out.
"Oh!"
Rachel wiped her face. "Was that really necessary?"
Santana said, "Hold up. Why is Sue's name on the list?"
"She can sit with Becky."
"Hell no. They are not invited to our wedding."
Brittany said, "Sue was a bad part of our lives, but she did one good thing. We met after she put us on the Cheerios."
Mercedes said, "All I'm saying is if you invite her, there's an 80% chance she'll ruin the wedding."
Rachel said, "But if we don't, there's a 99% chance she will."
"Praise."
Santana said, "If she's there, then I'm not."
Kurt ran. He knocked on Blaine's door. Blaine opened it.
"Kurt, are you okay?"
"No, I'm not okay. I love you. And I know everything was completely messed up before, but everything's fine now, so will you come to the wedding with me? Unless there's someone else."
"There's never been anyone else."
They kiss.
During the wedding day, Blaine's mother introduced herself while Mercedes and Sam were taking a photo with Tina and Sam. Some others were carrying Artie's wheelchair over the ground with him in the chair. Beiste was helping Brittany's mother and Sugar was taking a picture of Kurt and Blaine with Kurt holding a pitchfork.
Puck said, "Hey, Tina. You look great, doesn't she, Mike?"
Mike said, "She always looks great."
Tina said, "Thank you."
Puck said, "Well, I'll leave you two."
Burt said, "Almost ready for my officiating."
Carole said, "Oh, you two look handsome in your suits."
Kurt said, "Seemed like only yesterday we were getting ready for your guys' wedding."
Burt said, "Best day of my life."
Carole said, "It was a beautiful day."
Sue said, "Well, well, well."
Santana said, "Ugh. What the hell are you doing here?"
So not a coincidence.
Sue said, "I come bearing a gift."
Alma walked in.
Santana said, "Abuela?"
Sue said, "I walked by your abuela's house the other day and knocked on her door until she answered.
In a flashback, Alma opened her locked door and Sue said, "Mrs. Lopez, you don't know me, but I used to coach your granddaughter in the cheerleader squad in high school."
In the present, Alma said, "I can't say I agree with every decision you make, but I do know and believe that family is the most important thing in the world. I love you, Santana. I don't want to be the person in your life that causes you pain. And I don't want to miss the most important day in your life. The birth of your kids and any other important days."
Santana nodded, "I just want my abuela back. I've missed you."
"I've missed you, too."
They hug and Santana whispered to Sue, "Thank you. You can stay."
Claire said, "This place is actually stunning."
Anne Marie said, "Where do they find the money?"
Kurt and Blaine walked in and Brittany had black tuxedoes for them.
Kurt said, "Britany, what's going on?"
Brittany said, "Kurt, Blaine, I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you two. You showed me there was a place for me and Santana, too. You told me to be brave, and when you guys called off your engagement, it just broke my heart. But now that you're back together, what do you think? Okay, you guys are making funny faces."
Kurt said, "I think you're crazy. Blaine and I just got back together."
Blaine said, "We don't even have rings."
Sue said, "Oh, I got that covered."
Kurt said, "This is all very romantic, but…"
Blaine said, "I love you, Kurt. These last few months without you have been really hard."
In the barn, Mercedes and Artie were singing "At Last" by Etta James.
Claire said, "Your best friends are finally getting married."
Quinn said, "It's been a long time coming."
Kurt was walking Brittany and Santana was walking with Blaine. The guys were wearing the black tuxedoes.
Will said, "Wow."
Anne Marie said, "Well, this is definitely a surprise."
Every clapped and sat.
Burt said, "Don't say a word. I'm barely keeping it together. Dearly beloved, two times in my life, I have been lucky to marry the love of my life." Carole smiled.
Applause.
"Santana, Britt. Kurt, Blaine, I want to thank you all for being so brave and honest. And showing all of us that love and marriage was so much bigger than we thought it could be." Maribel and Alma smiled at each other.
Burt continued, "Marriage is saying to one another, I love you and I know it's gonna be a long road, but I don't want to do it unless I can do it with you. And now, the vows."
Kurt said, "Blaine, I'm a man who's always lived in the shadows. But then you came along." Santana said, "I have been bullied, outed, and misunderstood."
Blaine said, "I never thought I could find real love."
Brittany said, "The world seems so scary and confusing. I would have suffered it all just to end up here with you."
Kurt said, "I'm a work in progress."
Blaine said, "I'm a work in progress."
Santana said, "I'm a work in progress."
Brittany said, "I'm a work in progress."
Kurt said, "It's time to come out of the shadows. For all of us to walk in the sunshine together. Do you want that?"
Blaine said, "I do."
Santana said, "I do."
Brittany said, "I do."
Kurt said, "I do."
They all give each other their rings.
Burt said, "And now, by the power vested in me by the Internet and the state of Indiana, I now pronounce you husband and husband, and wife and wife. You may kiss one another." And they did.
Applause and cheering.
Someone was clinking a glass. "Hello. My name is Pierce Pierce and I'm Brittany's father. I'd like to say a few words. Brittany, I'm so happy that you and Santana found one another. In closing, be careful of the candles. Salut."
Applause.
That night, Tina was excited and nervous.
Mike said, "Hey, Tina. Great night, huh?"
"The best."
"Promise me you won't leave until we have at least one dance."
"Of course. Uh, Mike, wait. Do you have a minute?"
"Yeah."
Tina picked up a red box. "Mike, not a day goes by that I don't think about you. I love you and I forgot half the other things that I wanted to say." She got down on one knee and opened the ring box. "Michael Robert Chang, Jr., will you marry me?"
Mike was surprised.
"I know you're probably freaked out right now, and I would be, too."
"Tina, I love you, too. But I can't marry you."
"Oh, my God."
"Look, I think about you all the time, too. And every time I do, I smile. It means the world to me that we reconnected this past year. You're smart, funny and sexy, and I felt that way ever since that summer at Asian camp."
"Yeah, I know. I get it."
They kissed.
"I would like to propose that we go down there and have our dance. Where'd you get that ring anyway?"
They were all singing "I'm So Excited" by the Pointer Sisters.
Claire and Anne Marie were dancing together. Sugar has really improved her singing and dancing.
Claire said, "I miss Henry and Ian. Where do you think they are?"
Anne said, "Probably waiting to propose to us."
They chuckle.
Rachel smiled at them.
The next day in the choir room, Artie and Tina were having a picnic together.
"How are you doing?"
"I know you think I'm crazy for proposing to Mike."
"No one loves being alone. I don't. But I also know that you can't force yourself into a relationship. So, let's make a pact. If you and I are still single by the time we're 30, we'll marry each other."
"Oh, my God, Artie, yes!"
In the auditorium, Sue gave them all passports for their honeymoons.
The next week, in the gym, Spencer was totally checking out this one guy named Alistair. Poor Roderick was having hard time with his sit-ups. Spencer offered to help.
In the hallway, he pulled down Rod's headphones. "We have a problem."
"We do?"
"If I'm gonna be part of glee club, you need to try to try."
"Maybe you could help me?"
"Cool. Yeah."
Roderick sat next to Alistair. Spencer smiled at him.
In the auditorium, Rachel was sitting next to Will. Claire had her arm around her. (No misinterpretations.)
Sue said, "This fine young gentlemen is Superintendent Harris' nephew, Myron Muskovitz."
Myron said, "Hi."
The others waved.
Sue said, "This young man is about to have his bar mitzvah. It is the Jewish custom for this boy to become a man."
Rachel smiled at him and beamed.
Myron said, "Lights!" He performed with a bunch of others in gold.
Claire said, "Whoa!"
Kitty really seemed into it. Mason and Madison were surprised. Anne Marie and Ian were happy.
They all clapped.
Claire said, "I like this kid."
Rachel said, "That was amazing, Myron. You are very talented."
Myron said, "Thank you, Miss Berry. I'm a huge fan."
Claire said, "Good to know we're not the only ones with good taste."
Anne Marie chuckled and Rachel blushed.
Myron said, "But I want this bar mitzvah to be perfect. Not good, not great - perfect. How can I improve?"
Kitty said, "Maybe your dancers could smile a little bit more."
Rachel said, "Yeah."
Myron said, "Exactly. I told them that!"
Claire said, "Looks like we have our work cut out for us."
Anne Marie groaned.
In the hallway, Mason said, "Knock-knock."
Jane said, "Oh, hey, Mason."
"What's up?"
"Not much. I just got a C on my math test."
"When I have a bad day, I usually drown my sorrows in breadsticks."
"Breadstix. My mom says that place is infested with cockroaches."
"No. They fumigated. So, next week? I can teach you how to eat your feelings."
Madison showed up and said, "Breadstix? No. Mason, it's couch time at Cheerios. No carbs. Bye, Jane. Nice talking to you. Come on, brother."
In the teacher's lounge, Rachel and Claire were having lunch together.
Rachel said, "You know, this is nice. I feel like we haven't had a decent talk in a while."
"We do seem to spend less time together since I started college."
"Now it's like we're on a date."
"Well, I am the romantic type."
Rachel giggled. "You have your ways. Well, let's just consider this a small reunion."
"Quality time."
In the choir room, Rachel and Will said that they were going to perform at Myron's party. Spencer was gonna help Roderick with his moves while he helped him with Alistair. Meanwhile, Mason wanted to have some time spent with Jane without Madison getting in the way.
In the gym, Roderick was having tough time climbing a rope.
Spencer said, "When the guys on the football team work on, they get pounded on all the time."
"I'm not on the football team."
"You know what? You're right. You're lazy."
"And you're a dick." He walked away.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm leaving."
That night, Myron introduced himself and announced Rachel and the New Directions.
In the choir room, after Mason performed, Madison said, "Look, I admit, I was a little terrified and jealous when you started to have an interest in Jane. I'm not the only girl in your life anymore. But the truth is, I'm actually kind of relieved."
"I'll always need you, Mad. You're not the only person in my life."
"I'm just so used to taking care of you. Not because I wanted to but because I felt like I had to."
They hug.
Backstage, Myron was stuck in a box. "Oh, my God! Somebody help me!"
Claire said, "Kit! Myron, what are you doing?!"
Kitty said, "He got into his stage pod early."
Rachel said, "What, is he trapped?"
Myron said, "Get me out of here! I go on in five minutes!"
Will said, "The rope's stuck in that pulley. It's not budging."
Spencer said, "There's only one man for the job."
Myron said, "Can someone get me a freakin' Claritin?"
Roderick said, "Wait, me?"
Kitty said, "Can't we just get a ladder. There's gotta be one in here somewhere."
Spencer said, "No. Roderick can do it."
Roderick said, "Okay, Rod. Time to man up. What the hell? Give me those gloves."
Claire said, "You got this, Rod."
Roderick claimed the rope and got Myron down safely. They all cheered.
"I can't believe I did that."
Spencer said, "I can."
Claire said, "Myron, you all right?"
Myron said, "Do you not get how important this is to me?!"
Rachel said, "Spencer? Jane? Come on."
Spencer said, "And Roderick."
Onstage, they were singing "Uptown Funk" by Bruno Mars.
Will said, "Sheldon, you nailed it. Claire, I think you turned the wrong way again."
Claire said, "I haven't done this in months, Mr. Shue. I'm kinda rusty."
In the choir room, Alistair was strumming a ukulele.
Spencer said, "What are you doing in here?"
"I like to strum my uke to the classics."
"So, you just happened to be here?"
"Roderick told me about the mitzvah. He said you were performing and I wouldn't want to miss it. And, man, was he right."
"Wait, you were watching?"
"Yeah. You're a really cool guy, Spencer. And ridiculously hot. I mean, I'm not blind."
Spencer chuckled. "You know, we still need people in the glee club if you're interested."
"Glee club? I don't know. I mean, you're gonna have to work on that sales pitch if…"
Spencer kissed him.
"And sold."
Everyone was singing Jessie J's "Domino."
Everyone clapped and cheered. Myron was on Spencer and Mason's shoulders.
Roderick walked to Spencer by his locker. "Dude, I owe you a debt of gratitude. I started working out and eating better. I still sneak a few Cheetos before bed sometimes, but I actually feel great."
"That's awesome, buddy. Glad I could help."
"I heard you're hanging out with a certain someone."
"Yeah, Alistair and I are going out. He's amazing. H's the first guy I actually met who makes me nervous. I really like him."
In Rachel's office, Sue dragged Myron in so he could join the New Directions.
Myron inhaled and kicked Sue's ankle. Sue said, "Ah!"
Claire laughed.
Rachel ran after him. "Hey, come back here! Don't touch the piano!"
Will said, "Wait, Sue, Myron's only 13."
Sue said, "Harris strong-armed the middle school principal in to signing a petition by the school board."
"Wow, Sue, that has gotta burn."
"You don't think I know that that Claire Thomas went behind my back last year and forged her own little glee club?"
"How could you possibly know about that?"
"I have eyes and ears everywhere, William. Everywhere."
"Even if you shut Claire down, you still couldn't have stopped her. They won Nationals fair and square. And she, like everyone else here, is a natural born leader with passion and talent."
Later that night, she stormed to her garage. She called it her Hurt Locker. She was willing to go against all odds to finally bring down glee once and for all.
The next day, Myron said to Kitty, "Junior high is small potatoes." He put his stepladder in his locker. "Here. You earned it."
"I don't even care if this is blood diamond money. Trust me, kid, you're gonna need a friend in glee club."
Rachel said, "Now that we have Alistair and Myron in the New Directions, we have eight members."
Will said, "Every year there are more kids in there. I look forward to being your coworker, Rachel. You've evolved into such an intelligent young woman. Nothing makes me happier."
"Me either."
They hug.
Jane and Mason were smiling at each other. Spencer and Alistair, too.
In the auditorium, the New Directions were singing "Rather Be."
Kurt and Blaine appeared. Will clapped.
Blaine said, "There was a fire at Dalton. It burned to the ground." Kurt comforted him. Will was stunned.
In the choir room, Will said, "As you all know, Dalton Academy burned to the ground. Now, we are all gathered here and I know even though we see the Warblers as competition, now we have to see them as our friends and allies. We have decided to combine all of you as a super group."
Kitty said, "Where's Rachel? Shouldn't she be here for this?"
"She's in on business, but she's totally on board."
"Well, all right."
Jane was reluctant.
Blaine said, "Thank you so much, Mr. Shue, for this generosity."
Sue would not go for it.
In Sue's office, Becky shouted, "You monster, Coach! Why wouldn't you let the Warblers join the New Directions? The superintendent said it was okay! I'm not gonna let you get away with this!"
Sue said, "Becky Jackson, do not stand in my way."
"I performed acts of loyalty for you. I don't know why, but hurting kids with a burned-down school is my moral limit! You're evil, Sue Sylvester, I don't want to be your friend anymore." Finally, she sees the light! She ran out.
Sue said, "You. You did this. You turned her against me."
Darrell said, "No, no, no. She turned on you all by herself." He walked out.
That night, Harris found Sue's hurt locker. "Myron? My own nephew?"
The next day, Sue found Will in his office. "William?"
Harris said, "Something grave has come to my attention, Sue. Beyond… I saw your hurt locker. They trained us to be ready for the most crucial circumstances, but what I saw in there chilled me to my marrow. I could have overlooked so many things, but, ahem, after I saw your locker and vendetta, I cannot allow you near the students of McKinley or anyone else anywhere ever. I have to terminate your employment."
"I'm sorry. what?"
"You're fired."
Ooh…
Meanwhile, Geraldo Rivera was on the news.
"Welcome, America, I'm Geraldo Rivera. Our guest tonight is cheerleading champion coach, Sue Sylvester. Lately, Sue, it seems that you have been smacked around by the loser stick."
Sue said, "Well, Geraldo, I have recently lost my position."
"Well, for instance, Sue, you were not born in the Panama Canal Zone. You did not direct the Dallas Cowboys Movie, you were never waterboarded…"
"I waterboarded myself."
"…and you were never for the shortest time the tambourine player for Wilson Phillips."
Carnie Wilson said, "I played tambourine for Wilson Phillips."
Rivera continued, "You claimed to have romantic relations with Dan Quayle, Stephen Baldwin, Matt Lauer, David Boreanaz, Johnnie Cochran and the drummer from Jimmy Eat World. It just begs the question, Sue, are you a compulsive liar? You've repeatedly publicly claimed that Michael Bolton is the father of your child."
Michael Bolton had this to say: "I've never met Sue Sylvester. I only heard about her when my lawyers told me that she's been going around saying that I bought her an island, we had an affair and that I was the father of her child. I honestly think the woman has some kind of mental illness."
"Sue, do you want to respond to this?"
Sue said, "Fine. I will admit that I can't prove that Michael Bolton is my baby's father."
"Here is what some of McKinley's faculty members have to say."
Ian said, "Sue wouldn't know honesty if someone injected her with truth serum."
Anne Marie said, "That bitch is crazy! She almost had me kidnapped. And when she took down a memorial to one of the former students at McKinley, I totally lost it! Sue Sylvester, you can go—" They bleeped it.
Rivera chuckled. "Sue, it just makes me wonder, are you okay? I visited McKinley to talk to some of your students and they had this to say."
Artie said, "She slashed the tires on my wheelchair 17 times."
Mercedes said, "She swapped out my glue with mayonnaise."
Kurt said, "She trapped us in a fake elevator."
Blaine said, "She put a live bear in my apartment."
Rachel said, "Sue Sylvester verbally assaulted my sister, Shelby Corcoran, and practically threatened the life of my brother-in-law, Jack Masterson."
Joe said, "She cut my dreads off."
Claire asked, "When did Joe get here?" Rachel and Mercedes looked at him.
Rivera said, "Why does she hate the glee club so much?"
Artie said, "Sue's had it out for us since day one. Her Cheerios were the stars of this school, then we showed up and she's never forgiven us for stealing her thunder."
Claire said, "That she-devil is worse than Judas!"
Sue fumed at that last comment.
Rivera said, "It was not Will Schuster who tipped us off. It was Becky Jackson."
Becky said, "Who is Becky Jackson? She's me."
Darrell said, "Becky always told me stories about Sue Sylvester. Her secretary's an actual convict. She pushes people down the stairs."
"And she was my best friend. But when Dalton Academy burnt down, she refused to let Blaine's Warblers join the glee club, and I knew it was time to blow the whistle. Now I have a hot boyfriend. I am so happy to be free from Coach Sylvester. And to all you Cheerios out there, don't let her control you. You deserve better."
Sue was horrified. "Get out of my face. Geraldo, my whole life has been destroyed. I just wanted to be a champion. That's why I coached the Cheerios. Quinn Fabray, enrolled at Yale. Brittany S. Pierce, math prodigy at MIT. Santana Lopez, now could have a promising career as a prostitute."
Rivera said, "We did actually reach out to those girls. All three of them refused to comment."
"Wait, are we still rolling?"
"Yeah. The camera's been on the whole time."
"Classy, Rivera. I agreed to sit down with you because you are a titan of American television."
"This one person's voice has been altered."
A deep voice said, "I'll say it till the cows come home. Sue Sylvester saved my life. When I was going through a transition, she supported my decision. Wait, why are the lights off?" The lights turned on and it was revealed to be Beiste. "I'm not afraid to show my identity. I'm proud to stand up for Sue Sylvester." The cameraman nodded.
Sue said, "Well, Geraldo, I am who I am. Am I a tough customer? You bet your bottom dollar. As you may or may not know, my mother lied to me. She told me and my late sister that she and our father were Nazi hunters."
Doris said, "No, we weren't Nazi hunters. Susan was nasty from the day she was born. She even tried to bite me on her way out. It was bizarre. What kind of newborn already has a full set of teeth? What can I say?"
Geraldo said, "Hm. That must've been hard to hear."
Sue stood up and punched him, then walked away.
The crew helped him up and someone gave him tissues to wipe the blood around his nose.
"So who is Sue Sylvester? Is she a lying, vindictive psychopath who deserves to be behind bars? Let's go to show choir director William Schuster. I'm Geraldo Rivera reporting."
Will said, "Do I have my problems with Sue? Yeah. You bet. She's made my life a living hell for as long as I can remember."
Sue Sylvester finally got what she deserved.
In the auditorium, Claire and Anne Marie were celebrating by singing "King of Anything" by a Miss Sara Bareilles.
The next day, Doris walked to Sue.
"Hello, Mother."
"Hello, Susan. I know this must be difficult for you."
"Difficult wouldn't even begin to describe it, Mother."
"I'm sorry I was never the mother I should've been. I'm sorry I lied to you. And I'm sorry that I missed out on your life. It's okay to be angry."
They were singing the Trolley Song.
"I thought you hated musicals."
"Oh, I do, but I love the sound of my own voice."
"Oh, thank you, Susan!"
They hug.
The next day, the New Directions were rehearsing with the Warblers.
Jane said, "Are we even a team? Because half of us are wearing a uniform from a different school."
Kurt said, "She's right."
Spencer said, "This is McKinley, dude."
Jane said, "Yeah, your sexist attitude is zero."
One of the Warblers said, "Our look is iconic."
Kurt said, "Come on, guys. We welcomed you with open arms."
Kitty said, "Semi-open."
Will said, "Look, you attend McKinley now."
Warbler said, "These aren't just uniforms. They're a tribute."
In the choir room, Rachel and Claire were trying out blazers.
Rachel said, "Do you really think this is going to work?"
"Yeah, why?"
"Well, it's just…we have to commit to this. Their school just burned down."
"How did that happen anyway?"
"I have no idea. Look, the important thing to remember is that we have to get them to get along."
Claire scoffed.
"I know it's a long shot, but I'm serious. If it's going to show them a little comfort, then it's the least we can do."
"So, when Sectionals are over, what are you gonna do then?"
"If I want to go back to New York, I want to be a winner. I still have to graduate NYADA. And there's this new musical that Mercedes wants me to do. I don't know what I'm gonna do."
"Well, when Rachel Berry sets her mind to something, I know for a fact that there's no stopping it."
"What about you? You doing all right in college?"
"It's not easy and the classes are expensive. But having you in my life, Kurt and Blaine, Will and Henry, Anne Marie and Ian, Shelby and Jack…it makes it all okay."
Rachel hugs her. "Maybe you could restart Treble Base again."
"I don't really know if being a teacher is my goal in life."
"But you love music. Well, whatever you decide, it'll be a good one."
"What are we going to do about the outfits?"
Blaine walked in, "We may have solved that problem."
They all saw bright red blazers.
Rachel and Kurt were surprised.
Claire said, "Looks like we have a full team."
Blaine nodded.
