Surviving Formorrow

Killer Headache

Part 3

Author Notes: We be back friends. Last time Takuma was not having a good day and it won't be getting better anytime soon lol. Unfortunately i'm almost out of stocked up chapters for this little story. But hey, more inspiration to come. For now, Let's go. I do not own Digimon.

3rd P.O.V

There were too many. "Hang in there! We have to buy as much time as possible." Even with Agumon evolving to Wargreymon, things were looking bleak. "Graaaa take this!" Jijimon was trying to hurry things along as fast as he could, but there were so many poor little kemonogami to evacuate.

Several that had been hurt with the crumbling roof. That made less able legs to move, more hands and time needed. "Hahaha looks like you're running out of steam boy~" No matter what, they had to keep fighting.

If everyone else could get out...then their injuries would be worth it. "Look out!" Still, it hurt Takuma to see his partner get hurt. Between acid spit, poison tipped spider webs and debris hitting the metallic dinosaur, it was too much.

"Leave him alon-" Blood seeped from his head and back, even more as he was slammed to the wall. Blood soaked coughs escaped him while his Wargreymon attempted to shield him from further oncoming attacks.

It was getting hard to breathe.

Everything hurt.

Enough!

Leave him alone.

Now.

Now!

A swirl of energy surrounded Takuma when Wargreymon reverted back to Agumon, whimpering as bruises and cuts sat all along his body. "We got you now!" Arukenimon laughed maliciously as she approached. She along her minions crawled closer to them slowly.

"T-Takuma...get out of here." There was a blinding light, one that forced all of them the close their eyes. "AHHHHHH!" It was strong, blazing like the sun. Suddenly Takuma felt the pain consume him once more. His head swimming in agony.

'Run away! Get out of here before it's too late.'

'There's no way i'm leaving you to die!'

'Stupid fools...you both can die together!'

For the first time Takuma was able to hear coherent words out of the usual gibberish that antagonized his mind. A flash of a girl and an angel, the both of them swallowed in darkness as malicious laughter erupted from their demise.

Was this what Jijimon was talking about? Was that a memory from someone from the past? If so...why was he able to see them? "Arrg! You wretched child!" When he opened his eyes, he found several of Arukenimon's goons unconscious on the ground.

The wicked spider mistress herself looked to be in pain, steam or smoke was flying off her in spiraling wisps. She growled at Takuma before grinning. "Another special sacrifice...the master will be pleased." He wanted to move, to do something.

Especially since Arukenimon continued her advance, albeit slower, but he was exhausted. Whatever that light was drained him completely, leaving him defenseless as Agumon struggled alongside him to get up.

The wretched red clad monster grabbed Takuma by the neck, tightening her grip. "No!" He glared while gritting his teeth at her. No matter what, he wouldn't give her the satisfaction of his suffering.

"Time to go~" Still that defiance didn't quell the fear he felt. "Takuma!" The relief he felt hearing his friends when they called out to him came immediately. "Get her Sangloupmon!" He heard them rush his way. "Oh no!" The relief grew tenfold when he heard Miu and Jijimon's voices.

They were with his friends. Miu and Kaito were reunited.

Now...now he could rest easy.

"Do you think he'll wake up soon?" Takuma came in bits and pieces. "He has to. I refuse to allow anything else." He was never fully awake per say, but he was aware. At the very least, he could hear when his friends were talking.

His heart broke when he heard someone crying. "It's all my fault! He...he got hurt protecting me." No...no Miu, don't cry. The raven haired boy wanted to offer comfort to her. She was just a little kid that didn't need to feel guilty.

If he didn't jump to take the hit, she would've been hurt instead, if not worse. "That's just the kind of idiot he is Miu. This won't keep him down." Fond amusement went through Takuma when he heard that.

At the very least, he was glad Kaito was there to keep everyone's spirits up in his place, even if it was at the cost of insulting him. Maybe in the beginning of their meeting he would've felt slightly offended about that but that was before he understood how the temperamental male worked.

His insults often meant different things depending on who he was talking to. When he was pissed, he would be doing it out of sheer anger obviously, but then there were other times. When he was embarrassed, he'd say insults to change the subject or to get rid of the embarrassment he felt.

Then there were other times...especially when he was talking about Miu. The insults were softer along with his tone. They usually came with a smile or bit of vulnerability. That was what it sounded like just now, though it wasn't like Takuma could see him or ask what he meant by that.

Not that he'd even have a fraction of the courage to ask. "B-but he was hurt before too! Something about migraines!" That...that however was a problem. "Migraines?" Dammit, now he really had to wake up.

"Yeah! My friends saw him dealing with it and brought him to Jijimon. He told us that he had been dealing with it for awhile but it's been getting worse!" He didn't want to, but he had to explain.

He appreciated Miu and the others worrying about him, however he kept quiet so they wouldn't panic or fret over him. "Did he say how long 'awhile' was?" No-bad Kaito! This was not the time for him to start connecting the dots on any clues relating to his condition.

Of course, his silent demands were ignored. This time by Jijimon. "Since he arrived to this world I think? He stated his condition was worsening over time, so much so that he couldn't hide it away from me when another wave came."

The sudden tension was thick as the news sunk in. Why couldn't his eyes just open? Or his mouth for that matter? His entire body refused to cooperate, staying as stiff as a statue. "For that long?" He could hear the shock in Aoi's voice.

"Why...didn't he tell us?" The hurt in Minoru's. "Dammit-I knew something was off with him." Kaito's regret. "I-I remember he was trying to figure out how to get rid of them before anyone noticed. He told Jijimon that he didn't want anyone to worry about his pain."

The goggles wearing boy couldn't let things end like this. He needed to get up. So he had to shake off the exhaustion. The darkness could not overtake him once more. There was too much to do.

So...much.

To...say.

to be continued
